Please do not assume that everyone who rents your truck from U-Haul knows what to do, such as where to find the rented truck, what to do with the equipment in the truck, how to return, etc.

First the locker rented was suppose to be 10X5, it was in reality 9.75 x 4.5, losing 10% of what I should have. Also, the process to rent and close your products is way too long and complicated, and the employes working there are not the best ones.


So I rented the equipment online. I was supposed to be able to pick up the truck with the app but it wasn't working I took my picture so many times but it was doing nothing so I had to go inside the clerk. It was a good thing they were still open for a couple of minutes. They couldnt find the keys first. Than I left with the truck and it wasn't working properly. I first told myself is was because it needed to warm up, but that wasn't the problem after all. So I went to my first location to pick up a few things and went back home. On my way back the truck was acting weird, I had to give a lot of gas to be abble to drive faster that 15 miles/h. It was staling and making a weird noise. I tried to drive faster but it wasn't able to drive more that 30 miles/h. So I park and call the roadside assistance. After a couple hour of calls with the assistance they found a solution. Around midnight they towed the truck back to a Uhaul location center were an other 24h truck was available. The guy from the towing truck help me move the stock from one truck to the other. I had to move them even if my back is hurt because I couldnt find anybody to help me at 1am. I finaly got back home at 2h30am. I had to leave at 6 am to pick up the rest of the stock to be at 8am to the pre-general of the show we are filming. When I got back to the Uhaul location center at 8h45 pm. The center was closed and the app wasn't letting me upload the pictures again. So I left the keys in the same box I pick them up during the night and took pictures of the truck. I called the roadside assistance and waited for more than 15 mins, I was exausted and just felt asleep. So I had to go back the next day to close my contract. I didnt received any compensation for all those disruptions.

First of all, just being able to get in contact with someone at UHaul was a struggle the week before I had my reservation. They had switched the location on me without telling me. I saw the switch online and had to call and confirm the reasoning. The representatives at the pick up location did was not friendly and wasn't able to answer a question about the drop off which I thought was odd. He also only gave us a truck with a tank of gas of less than 1/4 and I had ordered a truck for a long distance move which I thought was insane. The overall experience just seemed to have alot more hiccups than I was expecting.

The strap on the appliance dolly was frayed and torn at the place where it is is secured by the locking handle. I was forced to take it because the only other appliance dolly available at no strap on it at all. I had to move a heavy upright freezer and we did not have confidence in the equipment. I should not have to pay the $10 + tx fee for this rental. That being said, all the staff I dealt with were excellent, very polite, non-stressed, especially the guy who processed my return at about 5:30. He was very cheerful even though he was very busy processing numerous equipment returns.

But I paid too much because this location wasn't good for me, I initially made a reservation in the east of Montreal. Because of road block and traffic jam I put too much mileage. Besides there's no gas station around the Uhaul. Not a very good customer experience!

While the truck was clean, it stank of cigarettes. It was nauseating. I was overcharged on my bill for Insurance and still haven't heard back as to why and whether they will reimburse me. Can someone help me ??


Needs a clear indication about vehicle returns - i waited over 15 minutes in line for the reception only to be told that there are employees outside who take care of the returns

I reserved a truck for 4h30m AM somone called me saying the store would open at 7, so I should be there at 7 when I got there at 6h55m, they told me my truck was with someone else, because it is a very busy season then, they gave me a 2 hour window with another truck, even though I hired mine for 4 hours. I took my time and returned it later.

Friendly staff & good service. It would be nice to have better support for new employees or staff-in-training, so that they can assist customers as expediently as regular staff.

The first truck we needed wasn't there, the second truck that we were assigned was missing a key, and then we had to redo the whole process of renting a truck out which defeats the purpose of online rental. We lost an hour of our time for the move.


when I arrived the attendent said that he didn't even know that the truck was there already, that means that he didn't checked before my rental if it was clean (during Covid pandemic this is inacceptable) nor if the information insert by the last client was correct. I received a corrupted file document for the contract by email, so I asked the attendent to send me again. He sent me it only after I took the truck and left the place. The miles shown in the odometer were different from the contract (I took a photo before leaving the place) and he added a coverage for damages that I EXPLICIT said they didn't want. I tried to call the office many times and nobody answered. So finally I reached the central (my complaint is still under revision). When I returned the truck I said to the attendent that the odometer in the contract was wrong and that I didn't wanted the coverage and he answered that no, that it is impossible and not even gave me an answer about the coverage. I'm still waiting for uhaul to do something about it. I always rent trucks and even installed my hitch with you (see my story of rentals), always was true and trustful.

Améliorer le service au comptoir. Cela m'a pris 45 min. avec le commis pour avoir mon camion (et ce, en ne comptant pas les 15 min. d'attente dans la file d'avant). Ça m'a presque coûté une heure sur ma réservation, et ce, même si j'était arrivé en avance.

J'ai téléphoné le jour même pour indiquer une erreur de facturation. J'ai écris une note lors de la remise "en ligne" de la remorque concernant l'erreur de facturation et toujours pas de nouvelle de personne.


Have someone who can resolve issues. I booked 2 15' Trucks last weekend. Contract # 82064030 I paid cash $295.07 but my credit card was also charged for the original estimate of $239.29 I am trying to get someone to reverse the incorrect VISA charge but getting nowhere.

You guys made a mistake on my contract. You changed the drop off location without telling me. And by doing that, you reduced my miles allowed. I was supposed to have 528 km (330 miles) included, and somehow, you changed it to 281 miles. And when I dropped off the truck, I checked the box that said that I didnt want to pay for the extra miles, and you still charged me. When I picked up the truck, the clerk lost my reservation 3 times. They didn't have the equipment that I reserved a couple weeks before. Shameful...

We reserved a u-haul truck for Montreal over a week in advance of our move, and then were told two days before our move that we'd have to drive to Drummondville (3 hour round trip in the wrong direction) to pick it up. We cancelled, obviously, and reserved with Discount, which while out of our way was still on the Island of Montreal. U-Haul called us the day before our move to tell us our truck was ready in nearby Lachine. We cancelled Discount and picked up the truck. It was a one-way reservation, and we expected to have the truck over the weekend. However, we got a call as we were unloading that our drop-off point was expecting the truck for 5 PM. Overall, great service, price, equipment, but it would have been nice to avoid all that confusion.

You had one employee serving customers. Processing each customer takes 20 minutes +. I also reserved my truck and tow for much earlier and it wasn't even ready to go (had to be done by the same person. He went outdoors to do it and it took another 20 minutes). It took an hour from the time I got there. The most insulting part is that uhaul charges if we are 15 minutes late.
