The beginning gas gauge measurement was inaccurate on the contract forcing me to add extra fuel when returning truck. Personal items from the last renter were left in cab. Otherwise a positive experience.Brian J.
My pickup location was changed without proper notice so this complicated things. I called Customer Service on Fri, Sept 30 when I realized this issued however they were unable to provide a credit to compensate me for additional travel miles and gas costs. The GM at the above location was made aware of this at time of pickup but was not able to cover these additional costs. After spending 2 hours on the phone on Sept 30th and several more hours of driving, etc I am frustrated that being proactive did not resolve this issue. I now have to file a complaint to Go U-Haul as requested by the GM at the above location.Wayne S.

There were many people waiting to be served and not enough people to serve them. I waited from 10:30am 45 minutes in line for my 10:30 reservation as well as an employee operating a large cube van drove recklessly before honking at a parked and empty pickup truck that he came feet away from rear ending at hi speeds.Justin L.

Took the truck back, put fuel at place we saw it at when we initially picked it up but was told it was more than that. Originally rented a 5 by 5 unit, but it was actually 5 by 4, then with the roll up door it was 4 by 4 so I needed to upgrade to a 5 by 10. Which again was only 9' deep. The storage unit with exterior access was flooded during move-in in August. The staff, when called by me from BC, went out and roved a lot of water from the floor. I can only assume they helped her lay the orange tarp on the floor also. Most boxes were dry but underneath the tarp there was still plenty of water. Fortunately none of my belongings wete ruined but one box st the rear of the unit containing durable goods was falling apart from being soaked with ground water. Thankfully my stuff was removed before freeze up. The staff on move out were pleasant and accommodating. Unfortunately I think I left my credit card behind and it was used for numerous food purchases and attempted online purchases which were reversed before I checked my online account and cancelled the card. Or there's a possibility that another customer took my credit card. The staff on duty yesterday were not the same people who I dealt with when I moved into my smaller unit in August.Judy Q. | Overall Experience

I should have taken pictures of the gas gauge before and after I used the vehicle as I filled it to the tank level it was at when I returned the vehicle but then I saw not only was only charged for 11 litres of gas, I was charged a fuel service fee of $30.00. I drove 19 KMs so besides my filling up the tank 5 litres to get it to where it was when I picked it up, UHaul is trying to say that their VAN will use 16 litres for 19 KM. So essentially your van will use almost a litre of gas per KM. That is not true. So I have been essentially charged an extra $51 because I trusted UHaul. Please check your math (and I will obviously photograph everything next time as I did not believe a former reputable business would attempt this).Brad B.

There was some kind of slippery film on the floor of the cargo area that stuck to shoes and then made the ramp slippery and dangerous. Staff was informed, but didn't seem to care. This attitude could lead to a lawsuit if someone gets hurt.Larry C.

Have a person go through equipment with you when picking it up. They just had someone drive it up and didn't say anything. I wasn't sure if it was mine or if it was ready to take. I had to ask someone if it was mine and ready to go. Truck was not the cleanest and I had to wash the windows inside and out when I got it to my house so I could see out of them better. I picked up some boxes a couple days before we were picking up our truck and could have used some help getting the boxes to my truck, I heard one lady say to 3 guys standing around some go help him but nobody did and they were chuckling when I came back to get the remaining boxes.Brad Z.

I tried renting a truck at 2 different locations, both times there was no truck available because the previous person had not returned it yet.Haley R.
I got a text message around 5:30pm saying that my reservation for the next day was post phoned an hour and a half after I had originally scheduled it. I tried reaching someone to ask about it but was put on hold for over 30 minutes, so I hung up as I was out for dinner. It ended up throwing my my whole schedule off, and I wasn't able t make it to my destination before it closed. I am thankful that Uhaul allowed me to keep the trailer for a full 24 hours instead of 10 hours like I had originally reserved. It was more work for me but I was able to bring the vehicle I was towing to its destination once it opened up at 10am the next morning.AlixMarie A.

Arrive early and expect to wait quite a while to sign our your rental. The vehicle I rented had a lot more damage on it than was described. If you are in Canada, there's a chance the odometer/speedometer will be in Imperial units, so you will be charged accordingly.Kelly F.
Fix your app so that it gives accurate availability of the types of equipment available to be ordered. I ordered an appliance dolly with the rental of my truck. When i got to the depot, they told me no dollies were available and the no depot in the city had anyto hire out regardless, Yet your website made it appear that they were available at pickup creating a false positive. Keep an accurate inventory of the items you rent. If stuff goes missing, replace it. Your staff at the counter told me that this has been a problem for years and you are doing nothing to address it.John V.

I was told how to enter access codes. Not told how to open the main sliding door to push the dollys in and out. No insurance was spoken about but was checked off on my paperwork. There is no light in the storage unit. Had to provide information for a third party not residing at my address for security purposes. Which makes no sense. Maria, a staff member working in the units, was exceptional! In addition to being an extremely friendly person, Maria assisted us when we realized that the unit we had reserved was going to be too small. Maria sourced a larger unit for us and took care of all of the requirements to facilitate the change. This was of course over and above her normal duties. The road in/out was never plowed. Deep groves of ice and snow for my small car to drive around. It did not appear ice melt was ever put down. Slippped and fell at one point. A very large truck was parked on the ramp on my move out and I asked if it could be removed. It was not. I had 2 units, 1 indoor and 1 outdoor, the outdoor I had more access as in later access. The indoor your only allowed till 5pm, which sucks when you have a lot of stuff. I moved in, in the fall, I moved out in Dec. 24 during a deep freeze. My outside unit was frozen shut, they did put ice melt on it, but it took over an hour for them to use a pick axe and open the door. My movers had to sit and wait. The prices differ between which uhaul you go to, seems individual owners set their own prices. I used west end edm, they were more reasonable than other locations. I don't expect all experiences to be bad, but it was not good. They couldn't find my reservation so we had to do a new one. They were going to give me a smaller unit than I wanted. I was told before I got there that the 2nd floor was drive up and it was not. And it took about 45 minutes in the office to set this all up. I have worked with this Uhaul location in the past. Never had a problem or grievous. The young and older people are very helpful when asked with questions they can be useful with. There is a woman, a short large woman who makes not only customer's lives difficult but the employee's life as well. I believe she is a cancer to this site and to the company as a whole. Unit was not ready and there was no lock in the unit as I was told there would be for check in. I spent an hour trying to find someone to aid me when finally the yard guy, Perry, was kind enough to grab a lock for me and get me set up after hours. However this should not have been the case. 10 years as a customer. Two break-ins despite a "secure" facility. Never any meaningful response or responsibility taken. Elevator down twice in business hours. Security cameras offline for months at a time, let alone blind spots. Floor waxed in business hours prohibiting access to some areas. Elevator and parking area always dirty. Many problems over the years with card access/failure. Number of handtrucks and handcarts reduced to maybe 1, 2 or 3 out of the original 8. Facility opened fine and then continually ran downhill over the years with no money spent to maintain or upgrade. My U-haul Storage rental unit #1203 was broken into at 2:00 am. Your staff member (Nicole?) called me, and said the breakin was captured on video. Within days, she changed her story 3 separte time: 1st she can't sshow me the video due to 'privacy'. Then, the video camers weren't working. Finally, she said their ARE no cameras. This is unacceptable. I tried to close the unit rental contral in 3 separate visits to your office. 1st the staff didn't help at all (Sat. morning, young man was clerk). 2nd visit, a female staff (same one that phoned about the breakin) gave me a form to sign reliquishing my claim on any property therein, and closing the rental term by removing my credit card no. from the account (Oct 27). Finally, I kept getting emails from yyour service telling me that the rental that I had already closed was 'overdue' and you we charging me late fees on a contract that was closed. This has been a miserable experince, in which I lost thousands of dollars in property, was lied to and disrepected throughout by your staff (wyo by the way NEVER annser the phone, nor can I leave a msg), and I wasted dozens of hours trying to deal with your company on what should have never happened, if you ran a safe and secure facility. This is actually probably the worst customer service I've ever experienced, next to skip the dishes. I had some fraud on my debit card, so I needed to change the card on file. I tried called U Haul for 3 weeks straight, nobody would answer the phone. The card was declined and I was charged a late fee. I decided to cancel the storage at that point. After I moved out, I STILL couldn't get ahold of anyone. They would immediately put me on hold and sometimes even hang up on me. This location is an absolute joke. I loathe going inside because they have 1 incompetent person working the counter for a lineup of 20 customers. Oh, and there is often employees just standing around doing nothing when it's super busy.Matthew G. | Overall Experience
