EDWARD WI originally rented just a car hauler, but they wouldn't let me use my truck m, which I understand because one turn signal wasn't working properly. But 2 things happened after that and these make me disappointed. First off partly my fault for not thinking but my truck has both a 4 pin and 7 pin connector and they could have suggested an adapter which you sell in store. But instead they gave me the option of fix my truck or rent a truck. Went with renting a truck bc as a mechanic i knew it was more than just a fuse. The big thing I have an issue with is the truck they gave me. It was a box truck and could barely tow the empty trailer and with a truck on it really struggled. Had to put my foot to the floor to get up to 45mph. The truck was no where near capable of towing that trailer and honestly if I had not a legitimate and lots of experience towing something terribly bad could have happened. Besides the point of the truck struggling to tow I could also tell the truck was maintained all to well, as with only roughly 57k miles on it the engine would shake pretty bad and idle and the transmission would shift really hard almost feeling like it was gonna explode underneath me.

Sal CI had two issues when I picked up the truck I would be driving. The first is that the front -- the grill, the windshield, and the front part of "mother's attic" -- was covered in dirt, presumably from the previous driver. I asked the attendant to clean the windshield, and he did. The second problem had nothing to do with the pick-up location: when I tried to indicate where I wished to drop the truck off (in another state), that location did not come up as an option. I had had the same problem when I tried to book the reservation initially -- the drop-off location did not appear, so I had to call to get a representative to put it into the system. That was very frustrating and suggests a problem with U-Haul's computer system.

ISABELLE LYou over charged me. $17.42 in addition to the fact that I over estimated the miles I would need the vehicle for, I estimate 20, but typically only go about 12. So I never saw the price adjusted for those miles and you charged me $17.42 extra for no particular reason.

RAUL EMy stuff eventually arrived, in more or less good condition, but other than that everything that could go wrong did, and nobody at UHaul seemed able to offer any help (or even just provide any useful or accurate information). I think I spent more time on the phone with various customer service representatives than I did actually packing and unpacking my UBox. I was told conflicting information about dates, my "guaranteed" delivery date kept getting changed (which is a problem, when you have movers scheduled for a certain day), nobody seemed to know what location the UBox was sent to, etc. I'd be told one thing by one person, a different thing by the next person, and then have a third person call back and tell me something totally different - over and over and over again. Then when my stuff finally did arrive, it turned out the box had leaked, so my things were damp and dirty. I had to file an insurance claim, and got some money back (though not enough to cover the cost of damage), but UHaul never tried to make it right or help me out at all. Moving is stressful enough without having all this added stress.

Aileen MI was told I needed to use a lockbox to get my key but when I went through the online checkout the system said it couldn't locate my van or the keys so I had to call customer service and tell them which lockbox the representative told me my keys were in as he was closing down the shop. If I hadn't caught him while he was leaving there would be no way to find my keys. The process overall took way longer than it should have and was not convenient

JEFFREY DThis rental was a disaster. I was offered to transport a trailer from Cambridge to Scranton as a "favor" to U-Haul which they reimbursed me. The amount of work I had to put in to travel to the second location to get the trailer, the almost 1.5 hour wait time just for the trailer, and the fact that I was given a truck and trailer that I didn't sign for, etc. I initially signed for a truck at the initial location and verified that it had no damage, etc. The truck was swapped out at the second location without my knowledge (the initial truck was taken to the other side of the building and then when "the truck" was brought back up front, it was running and the keys were in it and I was told "its ready to go." I filled the gas tank of the first trunk with about $40. When the trucks were swapped, the new truck had about 1/4 tank of gas in it. I was on the road for about 45 minutes and needed to fill up again. So I am out my $40 for the tank of gas that I filled for the first truck that never left the second location and I'm out almost $50 because I filled the truck before I returned (after the miles to get to the return location it was returned with between 1/2 and 3/4) because I didn't check out the second truck and didn't know where to replace the gas. I would appreciate if I could be reimbursed for the $90 in gas that I spent - not the gas that I did use, I am aware that I used that gas, but the gas that I lost on the first fill up, and the fill up on the backend because I returned with more gas than I took the truck with.

CESAR CThe drivers side door was badly damaged previous to rental. I couldn't close it fully. It was obviously in an accident as it had the stickers and markings on it. I got soaked from the rain as I drove 93 miles and couldn't fully close the door. I spent 220 plus 30 for gas . It was really a terrible day . I can't believe the truck was rented in that condition. Brian BTo customers: Be wary of "24/7 Pickup". My scheduled pickup was for 6am. However, crew members did not leave the key in the lockbox the night before, and when I arrived at the Somerville location I had no way to access the truck I had booked. I waited for the next couple hours (after calling and texting Customer Service and discovering that there was nothing they could do, since all offices were closed) and did not receive my rental until 8:45am, when people had come in early for work. This was a direct contradiction of the "24/7 Pickup" that the company touts. The company has refunded a $50 inconvenience fee to my account; however, given the importance of timing the rental to my pack-up and leave/drive time, this amount feels highly insufficient. This was a very frustrating experience. Recommendation to any customer who books a rental outside of work hours: Call the location the night before to ensure that they have actually set up everything they need to in order for your pickup to go smoothly. You shouldn't have to, but I bet it would have helped in my case.
ELIZABETH JU-Haul is a life-saver for college students. We used it over three summers, twice in Cambridge, once in Somerville. I would recommend starting early in the spring, grabbing a spot when you find one and straight-out renting it instead of reserving to rent later. Demand is enormous for summer storage in the general Boston area, because there are so many students who need to store their belongings over summer.

Erika SStaff was helpful on a very busy day, which is appreciated. However, I was charged for an extra rental period ($19.95), even though I returned the truck about 30 minutes prior to the time due. Apparently it was scanned back into the system later. I had to call to correct this, and the staff did make the billing adjustment after notified. But I wonder how many other people don't look closely at their bill?
CHRISTOPHER JThe employee who helped me - young man - seemed too distracted by his phone to properly help me. He was slow, unhelpful, and walked away before I got my trailer hitched. I had to ask another employee to go find him. Everyone else I dealt with was helpful and nice.

Emily CI called at 7 PM to reserve a cargo van for 11pm. I followed the prompts on the app and confirmed my 11pm pickup. Once I arrived and filled out the verification on the app it said I can pick up my van at 2am. I called customer service. They fixed the reservation. Then the key code (202) for box number 2 did not work. I spent over 30 mins on the phone until they gave me the code to box number 3 which was for a box truck. They said the upgrade was free and they also said they provided me a partial credit back on my card for $50. While it was an annoying process, u-haul made good in fixing the problem. Assuming I see the credit hit my card in a few days.
Trevor LGetting my Uhaul storage unit set up was an absolute nightmare. There were some technical errors when connecting my account and the unit. No one could successfully help me and I eventually just ended up having the unit and not being able to see the reservation on my account. IT and account services need some SERIOUS work. The people at the office hours were of little to no help. They actually made it worse when they brutally misspelled my name even after I spelled it out for them. A young girl working during office hours was very helpful. She's the only reason I was able to somewhat successfully get my unit set up. Also, what's with the wrong hours?? We were told by the office desk that unit access hours close with office hours. That's not true and everyone seemed to believe it with no further explanation provided.

He achieved the task of helping me find an available space--which is hard enough with UHaul--but refused to do provide any service beyond what seemed like a rotely memorized routine. When he asked, "Anything else?" I responded, "Could you please help me move this item into my unit?" He then said, "We don't do that here. We don't move things in." And left it at that. I then struggled for the next few minutes to lift my hefty suitcase into an upper-level compartment with only a spindly step ladder on wheels to assist me. It was dangerous. I could have fallen backward. My final struggle was with the lock, but I was able to find a second staff member at that time who was much friendlier and professional. It may not have been in his job description, but he took time to step away from his desk and resolve the lock issue for me. Otherwise, the whole experience felt cold and impersonal.

Manuja D | Overall ExperienceHi! my name is Justino. I went in to Somerville Uhaul office yesterday after reservation online. I made the reservation to move in on Sunday 9/27/20. When I got there, I saw a girl at the office, instead of helping she asked her coworker Edgar Lopez who just walked in from outside to take over and help me because she wanted to use the restroom, Edgar was in the middle of doing something outside but came over and started helping when she popped out of the so called bathroom she claimed she went. Edgar almost finished with the contract and was telling me the amount to pay to move in when I was explaining to him that I was supposed to have one month free according to my reservation and I have a proof of it. That was when the girl jumped in saying "no that's not true because I was here last time when you came in and my boss told you you need to rent a truck one way before getting one month free. I told her that's right but this is the proof that I'm qualified for one month free according to my reservation. she didn't want to hear it. Then I pulled my phone out and trying to provide the picture evidence I have, she said:"even if you have a picture to prove it we're not going to do it". However Mr Lopez Edgar took his time and listened to me and saw the evidence I showed him then advised me to come back the next day and see his manager because he's the only person who can approve the one month free rent. I got out of the office and decided to contact the manager because I'm used to that office and I know the former manager George and the current one manny. I sent a text message to Manny and told him the story of the girl been too harsh. Manny took his time to document everything and then recommended me to JUAN BAUTISTA and asked me to go back there and see him for the contract. I went back to the office and Juan took care of the issue and resolved it and assigned me the unit that I reserved which happened to be at the upper level. I told him it's too high for me to load heavy things up there and he reassured me that if anything becomes available at the lower lever I can switch to that lower level unit. I was so happy with the excellent customer service provided by Manny the manager, Juan B. and Edgar Lopez. All a customer needs sometimes is attention and be listened to and be advised when the service he or she is requesting cannot be provided. That's what Edgar Lopez did. And Manny as a team leader proved his leadership by asking a talented team member JUAN BAUTISTA to care of the issue which he resolved with an excellent level of service which brights my day.

This defeats the convenience in paying for storage units. Nowhere on the online booking tool was o warned there were overhead units at lower cost and floor units were $40 more! Arriving at the facility with my fully loaded for check in, My hand was forced to go with the slightly bigger, floor unit. This is the type of thing that infuriates customers and further drives them away. Bad business practice.

The worst experience. Moving is already stressful and to come and find out that your storage is on the ceiling of a poorly managed facility makes it a nightmare. Horrible experience with u-haul storage. I had to rent another storage. I WOULD NEVER USE IT AGAIN AND I WANT MY MONEY BACK.
