They didn't have the trailer I reserved, even tho I called U-Haul twice a few days before to confirm and had to drive all the way to Oakland to pick it up. They did give me a more expensive one for no Xtra charge, but have zero instructions on how to safety put/ tow my car on it. I had to drive 400+ miles with it, just guessing I did it right and no instructions on how to drive a big truck long distance while towing. Also I paid for a dolly (because I really needed one) drove home to find I didn't get one.

When I made this reservation for my brother I told the uhual reservation representative that I needed the truck for 24hrs, I didn't want my brother to have to rush with moving my stuff. They told me there was no trucks available for 24hrs on Saturday, so I told the rep. that I would be okay getting the truck on Sunday and returning it on Monday, so I booked the reservation to do that. I didn't go with my brother to pick up the truck so I didn't know that when he got there they gave him a contract that required him to return the truck in 2hrs. We still had to pay the same rate for less time. When I finally got to talk to my brother he told me he only was able to move some of my stuff because he had to return the car in 2 hrs, that is not what I agreed upon. I was not happy

The facility seems to have discarded and or stolen goods. I have no recourse it would seem. Facility’s own pipes burst and flooded the facility to include my unit. The way things played out I’m left feeling as though I paid for someone to take advantage of me and even steal from me both my money and my personal effects (many of which were BRAND NEW and yet to be utilized) but it’s a corporation so they are going to protect themselves from liabilities and not always do what is right by customers if it means compensating them or taking a loss to do the right thing. The STRONG feeling of having been taken advantage of and having deep regret that I trusted and paid this uhaul facility to secure and safe store my goods is the reason for my poor rating and STRONG desire to discourage others (especially military families and those who rely heavily on storage facilities with the majority of their property) to trust/utilize another facility and even company for your temporary or long term storage needs. If you don’t have trust what is there...? In the end based on the company’s insurance company handling me the way they did and how so much of my stuff is missing with no recourse I’m left realizing that when it comes to uhaul I’m just a little person vs. a big cold company. Aside from Uhaul’s Marissa Mendez (who is usual’s one bright spot) and all her earnest efforts to make things right I have nothing absolutely nothing positive to take away from my experience with uhaul and the Oakland Coliseum storage location/facility.

I was not told that there eould be a $108.16 hold in my card. At the time of rental, I was told that there will be no charges. The hold should have been explained at that time

My people at uhaul were all pro and on top of the job. Seriously these young folks deserve some pay raises... Extremely polite and well mannered as well..

The uhaul app doesn't work so you can't return the vehicle through the app. I gave location permission to the app but it wouldn't respond and stayed stuck on thr same screen. I had to use the browser to complete my return. 4/5 overall experience and 1/5 for the android uhaul app.

Was difficult loading into facility due to uneven paving at entrance; tipped over my cart as the overhead door came down on it and did not stop. Someone needs to change the smoke detector that’s been beeping for several months. Otherwise very clean. Could have used an extra hour in the evening here and there but otherwise appreciated the security.

Due to high wind conditions on the bridges, I was not able to use the cargo van. I returned it 2 hours later and used only 3 miles. I had corrected the odometer reading on my initial check out and wrote that the odometer was incorrect by 1 mile. I am not sure if U haul gives credit for this this type of situations, but I am requesting a credit towards my next rental. There were plenty of cargo vans on the lot so it wasn’t like It was really needed. Anything you can do to make this a positive experience is appreciated.

Staff was great. Dealing was quick and efficient. The only thing that was off was the van we rented. They had a whole lot of pretty clean vans there (25+), but the one we were given was really dirty, and had bad scraps and body damage on both sides. It ran fine, just looked horrible.

Facility was clean. But if pipes burst during a heavy rain, a year or so after the first bursting of pipes, facility is not well maintained. 300 + customers items destroyed, uhaul liable for all.

Customer service is terrible. They take my license then a picture of my license then a picture of me from a cell phone. Then hand me the keys and don’t even walk through anything with me about the truck they didn’t even walk me to the truck. I had better service using Penske.

I suggest U-haul find a way to streamline the transaction time. It appears there are a lot of data fields the agent needs to fill in order to complete the contract. I did submit my order online but still had to go through the process. It's all good, just an improvement opportunity.

I was concerned with the overhead security in the storage area, it seemed very flimsy with only chicken wire. Low staff, extended wait and service times, otherwise staff was warm and helpful.

Biggest problem: the alarm system, going off constantly due to a design flaw — so no one pays attention to it. Thieves cut through wire mesh above lockers. Our truck lock got picked in lot overnight.

We were given incorrect time to access U-Box. Lines were unreasonably long. Temporarily lost our U-Box. Many delays!
