This was by far, THE worst customer experience I've ever had to deal with. I confirmed BOTH online and over the phone, the time and pick up location the day before, only to find the Kailua office closed the following morning when I went to pick up my van. I waited, along with several other customers, for more almost two hours trying repeatedly to call the phone number provided for that location. There was either no answer, or the voicemail was not activated to accept messages. I was then able to reach someone from the mainland who offered me to go to the Nimitz location instead. Of course the person I spoke to over the phone had no idea what was going on, nor could they reach anyone at the Kailua location. This person on the phone, also informed me that he would WAIVE the mileage fee because of the wait and misunderstanding. I then went to the Nimitz location and of course, waited in line for almost an hour. By the time I got to the next representative, I explained my situation, what had happened, and that the mileage was supposed to be WAIVED. Of course he had no idea what I was saying, nor was he very helpful at all. I was NEVER given a receipt or told of my responsibilities after receiving the van, other than the vehicle check before driving it off the lot. I returned the van later that evening, and after speaking to the representative, was told that only a PORTION of the mileage would be waived. I also informed the representative of my earlier conversation with the mainland representative and the arrangement to WAIVE the mileage, but he explained that it ONLY would be $30.00 taken off the total. As I had already spent most of the day both moving furniture, driving across the island to a pick up and drop off location that I WASN'T anticipating having to drive to begin with, and then dealing with your representatives who were neither helpful or understanding. Your online check in and pre arrival check in, leave ALOT to be desired. It's only predicated and works if there's enough staff to help. Doesn't work well with NO ONE at your Kailua location, and doesn't work at Nimitz with just two people, with either one leaving the counter at any given time. I will probably NEVER use your service, EVER AGAIN, and when asked, I'll be sure to let people know what I had to go through.Paris L.

You asked so I'm describing from my point of view as a recent customer who has not been to this location betore. Express online check in still meant that we had to wait in an hr long line even tho the website / app says you don't have to wait in line if you express check in online. This was Saturday and the 2 fellows working the front/counter had to go outside to hookup the equipment for each customer. It was quite inefficient.Kara C.

I never had any major issues. I would appreciate giving short term 24/7 access when asked. This is the first facility I have seen in over 10 states that it's not 24/7. The system should be set up to allow the customer to adjust the access hours to the customer needs.RJ S. | Overall Experience

I am in the process of moving. I made reservations for a cargo van, from your company, over the phone with Lorain. She quoted me the prices, a kama'ain rate for the mileage, and the confirmation. I picked up the van at the scheduled time. During the rental process the prices quoted at the location seemed higher than I thought they should be. (Side question: I received the van with a half a tank of gas. I was told to return it 1/2 full. I was told that if the van needed to be filled (back to half a tank) I would be charged at the rate of $5.00 per gallon. Why aren't the vehicles rented out with full tanks? It's just a few dollars but, your organization made money on me because I returned it a little more than 1/2 full - it's quite difficult to guess just how much gas to put in, gallons versus dollars, to make 1/2 a tank). Anyway, after completing the initial renting process, I left with the van, and really thought I should called Lorain about the different rate. After looking at my reservation, she said I was charged the regular rate for the mileage and to just let them know when I returned the van and they'll adjust it - because I have a Hawai'i state drivers license. I was also told at the location if I needed to add an extra day rental to just give a call. I did end up needing to rent it for an additional day. I called and spoke to Shantee. The conversations went like this: She answer the phone and identified herself. Me: Hi Shantee, my name of Kai and I have one of your vans and need to rent it for an additional day. Shantee: can I have the phone number associated with the rental. I provided it. Shantee: What is the reason why you are unable to return the vehicle at the agreed upon time. Me: I need it for another day. Shantee: And, what, is the reason, why, you are unable, to return, the vehicle, at the agreed upon time! Me: Because, I need it, for another day! Shantee's response went something like, I am unable to extend the rental because someone Is scheduled to pick it up after you. (I was by this point not happy with her attitude, treatment of me, and now I was disappointed and the bottom line was I couldn't extend it.) Me: Thank you - and I hung up! So, I now had to look for another van from a different company, stop moving, and go and deal with this. I took the van back, spoke with the person receiving the van and explained what Lorain told me, and after trying she directed me to Mike. I explained again what Lorain told me and he fixed it. I then expressed to him what transpired over the phone and how upset I was. He said that that was odd because he had 15 vans available. My response was, now I'm just even more angry. I'm trying to move and I had to stop that to deal with this and I didn't really have to. I made a reservations with a credit card guarantee at another rental company and I had to scramble to go pick it up - so I could t extend it there. I also had to pay an Uber driver to get between uhaul and the other company. I hope you are able to fix these lapses (to say the least) in service so some other unsuspecting person doesn't have the same experience. Best wishes in your endeavors.Kaipoholialani K.

The sales personnel were friendly and professional. I had some trouble with logging a difference in gas levels on the website. A representative was able to help me right away. The App is very unreliable, I was very frustrated to have to stand out in the middle of nowhere to call customer service to help me with the app. It kept saying no connection and wouldn't let me access the Truck Share portion thru app or online. The UHaul agent who helped me on the phone was a lifesaver, but the app gave me a lot of headaches.Don Derek G.

- The counter at this location: totally understaffed. - Website issue: if you are a couple hours late to pickup a self-pickup rental, the website has no message for that person, that the rental automatically changes if you're late. This was TOTALLY frustrating, as I didn't want to wait in the LONG line at this location. (but in. the end, I had to. The sales rep was very nice and understanding. Good on him he probably needs more pay. Anyway, until these issues are fixed, I would NEVER recommend uhaul to anyoneâ€" any location.Jesse K.

Arrived at 8.20am for an 8.30 cargo van rental to find 4 customers already in line and no service representative appeared until 8.30. I finally got into my 8.30 rental at 9am. Representative informed me that the vehicle was low on gas and gave me a credit for $15 and change, but I had to search out a gas station immediately as tank was almost empty. Finally got on the road at 9.15 for my 8.30 rental. I think that more representatives may be needed during the morning rush and it would be a good idea to not give a customer a vehicle that urgently needs refueling before it can be used.Peter W.

Had an appointment at 7:30 am to pick up a 20' truck. But was told their systems were down. I went online to check my mobile pickup status but the website was also down because of "planned maintenance". Who does plan maintenance on a Monday morning at 7:30am HST 10:30 am Pacific time? Needless to say my whole morning was thrown off. Nothing was working until a half hour passed by. By the time I was able to check everything, I didn't leave until 8:10 am. Work with your reservations department on customer service. The man i spoke to spoke too fast and was very pushy. I asked him questions in which he answered, "like I said" and continued. He needs to speak slower and he wouldn't let me talk. He needs to remember that his disclosures are repetitive everyday, but its new to the customer. I would get rid of him for poor customer service.
