Well I would like to say that I was a tenant there for 5 years and it was great and convenient for me and my co-worker to store our work truck there. The staff was also great and helpful. The manager is great as well !! But it saddens me that when I was told that we had to leave I was quite confused I mean we didn't cause any trouble and always paid our rent on time. So I asked what was the reason and I was told that the manager was told by corporate to ask people to leave. So I did some digging and found out that the college next to the area where we were parking was complaining about that area. I do agree that some of those spots were not properly maintained by the renters but as they say " a few bad apples ruin the bunch " which I don't understand why not just Toss out the bad ones? I do understand the reasoning for it to not favor one tenant over the other but it's the right thing to do to keep the good ones. This is really the only u-haul location we trust and have used the services here in our many moves. Our only issue was trying to find a tow attachment for a car, but we later discovered we didn't even need it. I don't know if you guys have this, but a bundle of different sized boxes would be great!Jorie H.

Not a fan of this additional "meaningful assurance". I entered into the contract and a deposit was placed against my credit card. So you have a legal contract and do a hold for hundreds of dollars and now you want the name and number of someone to harass if i'm possibly late? I'll be renting from Penske going forward. My issue was with uhaul in general...not the Grayslake location. My reservation was changed to three different locations and not discussed until I kept getting moved from place to place. No compensation or consideration for me driving around to fix their mistakes.michael C.

I rented for several months. I paid my storage unit fee of $149.00 on the first of the month. I was lucky to find housing and moved out of my storage on the 10 th. Mad to find out that there's no prorated fee for the last month. $149.00 for 10 days is a rip off.DAWN M. | Overall Experience

This is a Skeeter and Scooter operation here. Went to get a hitch and connector line put onto my Toyota Sienna. The manger, Scooter, said it would be done, but he is leaving for the day so Skeeter is going to put it on. Great left my van in the am and picked it up in the pm. I STRONGLY ADVISE THAT YOU DOUBLE CHECK THE WORK DONE BEFORE LEAVING. Seems that Skeeter that it would be a good idea to run the connecter line under the vehicle exposed to the road. Also was missing lots of screws from the original vehicle. So the next day I come back in the morning and spoke with the manager, Scooter. Scooter saw the work and agreed that Skeeter didn't do a good job and said he would take care of it, just leave the vehicle and pick it up later. Great. Pick up the vehicle and did a glance around. Scooter delivered by covering up the wire, as for the missing screws, Scooter said for me, the customer who came in with no missing screws, told me to go the the dealer to get the screws and we will install them. I said that you lost them, so you order them and replace them. Scooter got upset and said it was on me to make sure to get the correct screws, but that he will reimburse me for them and install them for free. I told Scooter to call the dealer, order the missing screws, and call me when they come in. I also showed Scooter that the bumper is loose, the back pannal is not connect correctly, there was a exposed hole in the trunk that all needed to be fixed. Its been almost year and Scooter hasn't called back. I did tell Scooter to eff off, so may I wont be getting a call here before the year is over. I hope this helps. some free advise for Scooter and Skeeter, "If you're going to do the job half ass, don't do it at all."katarzyna W.

I wasn't familiar with the area and had to move my stuff into a storage unit last minute from WI to IL for a new job. I drove by the U-haul and I could tell it was a nice & clean facility. I unfortunately booked a unit online at another company and learned my lesson to NEVER book a unit without seeing it first!! Well the uhaul I reserved was late, which I am not putting them at fault for at all here because they called and told me. So then I decided to give them extra time so they aren't rushed and showed up 25 minutes after they told me the time it should be there. When I got in the windshield was filthy, inside and out (when I got home I had to clean it), also when scrolling through the dash information I noticed that the oil life was at a whole 9% (meaning my gas milage on my 500 mile journey is going to be below average, who know if the air filter has ever been changed either), I then start driving and it pulls to the right pretty good (more sacrifices to the gas milage of my 500 mile journey), I then go to stop and then brakes are squeaky. Clearly the vehicles aren't checked beforehand and Clearly they are far from maintained. Other than that, it was a good experience.David N.

I was not told about after hours instructions and photos so i was not able to take proper photos of dash and fuel. However i did accidentally fill the tank and spent 35 dollars too much. I do want a credit to my account if possible. I also need a smaller version of the 26 footer one more time this Sunday again. When renting out a truck with damage have the damage documented and available to the customer. Then the customer is 100% sure Uhaul is already aware of that damage. It is stressful for me to have video every scratch and damage as I worry I missed something.Steven K.

Very poor customer service. One man seemed so miserable to be there that it radiated from him. Didn't greet myself or my partner before making assumptions and asking questions that were borderline abrasive. Also seemed to assume that I, a woman, wouldn't be able to tow a trailer. I MUST tell you that both Pablo and Kevin went above and beyond. The location was swamped (peak time) and we hooked up my rental trailer and no lights during the safety check. They found the fuse swapped it out with a spare they found in their cart and I was off to get my move completed. If I had cash on me I would have tipped both of them. They saved my day. There wasn't a lock in the unit as promised, but they gave me one in the front office immediately. I was a little confused about the security code I had to enter before accessing the facility, but the front office also cleared that up for me. The online move in option was absolutely the best! I had a lot of anxiety about going in and renting a unit in a busy office. This option allowed me to pay, get an access code and move right in! The facility was clean and it felt like a very safe environment.Lynette P. | Online Move In
The staff did not explain how to use the access card. They never told us we had to scan it to turn off the alarm. They didn't tell the customers after us either - we both set off the alarm system. They told us what door to use, but didn't really explain how to get to our unit. We figured it out! But a couple simple sentences from them would have been super helpful.Ann B. | First Impressions
Don't get me wrong, my experience was great! However, I reserved my unit via your website. It lies. On the internet, it said that the unit I reserved could store a 1-2 bedroom unit between 1200-1600 square feet. My two bedroom was just over 1000 square feet. When the movers got there, they said no way my stuff would fit in that unit. I was able to upgrade my unit with the help of the staff. It all turned out well, and the staff was amazing! I'd suggest reassessing the size of the units, and their capacity. Especially how they are advertised on the internet.Amanda R. | First Impressions
