My reservation was made for pickup at 1004 S Clearview Pkwy, only a few miles from my home. This location was chosen for the stated "available time" of 10:00am vs later times in the day at various other locations in the area. When I arrived at this location (Safeguard Self Storage), not only did they not know of my UHaul reservation, but they reported there was no available vehicle to rent. When they followed up with UHaul by phone, it was relayed to me that they were "having trouble locating a vehicle and would call [me] when [they] have more information". I was contacted not long after by text to let me know there was an available resource 13 miles away which significantly affected my schedule for the day as well as my estimated mileage for use (I estimated 20 miles total). This was extremely inconvenient and a highly inefficient process that could have been better prepared for with daily confirmation of end of day inventory and morning notifications to rental facilities of expected rentals.Candace L.

Due to a high demand for trucks I had to wait 10 hours to pick-up a truck. I received a call saying the truck needed repairs. I asked the location to call before I drove there but they didn't. I called and no one knew the status of the repair. I called HQ and reserved a larger truck. The location then told me they wouldn't rent it to me because it was reserved the following day. I ended up having to ask if ANY trucks were available. The man behind the counter reluctantly searched the computer and found a 15' truck which was inconveniently parked between two flatbed trailers. Inside the truck next to me an employee was sleeping. I tapped on the glass to wake him and ask him to move but he refused and went back to the garage. A lot of apathetic employees unwilling to assist a customer.SCOTT B.

This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a Uhaul facility. First, when I received my box, it came 20+ extra items (boxes, TV storage box, furniture pads, tape rolls, rope, bubble wrap) that I did not order nor intend to pay for. The multitude of extra unnecessary items made packing the box significantly harder, when it did not have to be that way. If you want to improve customer experiences, do not automatically charge them for $125 worth of things. When I ordered the Ubox, I had no idea that these items were automatically checked off to be charged to my card. Give people the option of checking each item off if they choose. I explicitly remember only ordering 2 wardrobe boxes - nothing else. Second, Not only was I informed the day of my scheduled delivery that it was being rescheduled to 3 days later, only to be told the next day that they could actually deliver it that day, but the box was not picked up on the day that I scheduled it to be picked up. Then, the women driving the Uhaul truck who came to pick up my Ubox days later, side-swiped my neighbor's house, taking down their power lines and leaving them without power. They fled the scene when neighbors tried to confront them about hitting the power lines. While I know that this is likely a rare occurrence, I will never use this Uhaul facility again. The only person who proved to be helpful and patient with me throughout this whole process was Kim.Sophia U.

Extremely rude and disrespectful cashier / service rep Who was assisting as I entered the location to pick up my reserve vehicle she was trying to service to customers at one time and she was very matter-of-fact did not go over the rental agreement and stipulations in a manner in which I felt like was Professional she was very disrespectful to the customers..Customers should be spoken to at all times in a professional manner The representative did not identify herself she's very short with me and this experience was extremely unpleasant I would not recommend this location for anyone to ever do business .. many of the Female African-American service reps are very rude And unprofessional!! I would hope that Management can review my reservation and see who was the service rep who assisted me in reprimand her for being so disrespectful .Upper management can reach me at the phone number associated with my reservation to discuss this further extremely unhappy and disappointed former customerDENETTE H.

The Ubox was not delivered on the agreed upon schedule and the store did not offer any other options. We ended up renting a car to pick up our stuff from the location of the Ubox- took us 3 round trips. The associates in the store were not helpful at all. After hours return was very burdensome. After many attempts to long onto the U-haul after hours mobile return site, I was not able to complete the return. When I called the 1-800 customer support number, no one answered though it gave me a loop recording indicating that I was in a cue, and when I logged onto the chat option, it took 20 minutes to get a chat agent to finally help me. In all, it took me about 1 1/2 hours to complete the return of my rental.TIMOTHY C.

My Uhaul pods were not delivered the day I scheduled. I only found out it would be late after calling because they had not shown. I had movers scheduled that charged me a penalty for canceling because I could not reschedule as Uhaul was not able to say if the delay would be a day or a week. I called back and checked in several times to get updates. I was then given another day they would arrive and scheduled people based on that. Only after they were supposed to arrive again did I call and find out they were delayed. Again I paid a cancellation fee. All in all, I've paid an extra $550 for movers due to Uhaul. I would have chosen another more expensive service if I knew the difference was that much and that much hassle. As I did all I was required by Uhaul and more I'd like this fee deducted from my fees. I was put in a position to cancel the day of the move and last-minute reschedule with another company or be on hold until Uhaul made my pods a priority. Outside of that I plan to never use of Uhaul again and will actively suggest others use another service.Isaac G.

The GOOD: All the employees that I interacted with on both ends of my move were outstanding. Everyone of them was courteous and helpful when issues arose. The box we used worked well. It's made of plywood, but was quite sturdy, and came with a heavy canvas covering. The BAD: The website/software. I tried entering necessary information from multple devices which wasn't accepted, causing a delay in my getting the U-Box. Then, when the filled U-Box was being dropped off at the final location, the delivery person's program started glitching, showing that I had an empty box to pickup, that I wanted the box the was being dropped off to be picked up the next day, and not showing any of the deliveries that had already been done. Overall: My experience was a good one. If someone asked, I would feel comfortable recommending U-Haul's U-Boxes.Jeanne Y.

I was not informare that the signature pads needed to be returned, after I was done taking all the boxes out of the U-box the pads were wet, soggy, and ripped so I discarded them in the garbage. The locations on Michaud, Lapalco, and Tulane were all extremely unhelpful. We were sold products that would have killed us and if it wasn't for the ladies at the Gentilly location, we would have left with a trailer that wasn't built for our car and a faulty towing hitch. This was the worst experience I have ever had with U haul and I will not be supporting the company anymore, I will also never recommend your company and I have shared my negative experience with others. I was having electrical problems with my house so I rented a storage unit because the house needed to be rewired and I had to relocate, the next day the house caught on fire, I never even had a chance to move into the unit, after finding somewhere to go and dealing with the stress of a house fire I called back U haul to try and get a refund for the unit I never moved into because I had to pay the deposit on the house I found, it had been about 4 days and I called multiple times but kept being told to call back, they refused to give me a refund for the unit I never moved into because they said it had been past 24 hours. After all the support I have given U haul in my life you all showed no sympathy or compassion for someone who was going though a hard time and just trying to get a refund. that $100 was severely needed and I had to go without food for almost a week because everything I had went towards a deposit on a new house, you all made a bad situation for me so much worse. Your company is completely out of touch with the people your supposed to be providing a service for, your 24 hour refund policy combined with the overpriced storage units is ridiculous and just greedy. going forward I would rather go out of my way to find real people to help me move and I will find alternative storage units because a company as out of touch as U haul does not deserve the support of the people and I will make sure to let as many people know about this horrible experience as I canCHRISTINA H. | Overall Experience
