Don't like how you don't pro-rate anymore, times is to hard for paying full storage fees for only 5 days. And you rise storage fees up too soon and don't let me know until I make my monthlypayment. Online self check-in at the location I use did not have my truck ready. I bought extra supplies during my reservation. Upon arrival none of the supplies were loaded on the truck and the hand truck i reserved was unable and i had to pushace one from the store at the price of seventy dollars. Unfortunately the truck I had some issues. The transmissions shifted poorly and the truck has a loud whining noise in the cabin ever time you engaged the accelerator. I'm sure what I experienced was a unfortunately chain of events and I would never expect to have this happen again.Michael C.

Poor customer service. Didn't talk much with me or tell me what was going on. Needed to extend the truck one extra day i knew this as i went to pick it up and was never asked if anything was needed. Was given the key to a...... truck which truck or where on the lot to find it was a mystery so i got joy of wasting time walking the lot looking for it. I also paid for a hand dolly to help move and that wasn't with the truck and no idea where to get one. It was a mess of an experience. Should have stayed with penske instead.Daniel H.

First choice for drop-off was Gates in Gastonia. The clerk has no idea how to take a Uhaul and give me the phone number of the manager who never answered his phone. I changed the drop-off to U-Haul of Gastonia and it worked out fine.Paul R.

Drop off after hours was a nightmare at the 3919 Franklin Blvd, Gastonia, NC location. The "orange" drop box was non existent...there were others there looking for it also. After many calls and being put on hold several times for extended time each time (which we never got any help), driving around and looking for a drop box, then getting out and walking around the parking lot and building, (which late at night, two women alone was not the best situation) we found it. Found it in an area that was not easily seen. In a door where there was very poor lighting. Yes we did the online check in and for the location of the drop box it said near the main entrance. That was not enough information! Also, as I said earlier about calling for help, the wait time is ridiculous! You're a large enough business that a 40 to 50 minute wait time should not happen. Hire more people! Not happy!Susan K.

I spoke to Charlotte's traffic office several times. Each time I was given a different answer. When I spoke to a Tonya about the height clearance of the 20' van we rented, she stated the truck was 10' high. It is clearly posted on the truck that it is 11' 4" and needs a 12' clearance. Clearly there needs to be better training across the board. The pick-up center is run by a bunch of young folks that acted as if we were bothering them and once we finished the transaction didn't say thanks, goodby or nothing. Was told van was in a certain marked slot. On our own, once we found it, the truck we rented was behind another and had to find someone to move the blocking truck. It took almost 40 minutes to leave - with a reservation. I was planning on renting another truck to move my things to its final destination but after this last experience, I wonder what off the wall and incorrect info I'll be given.Vicki E.
Get rid of the online application process if it isn't going to work. It took over an hour for the website to complete my reservation and put me an hour behind schedule and was met with attitude and reluctance to correct the situation.Dana B.

Please replace that truck. I literally felt like it was going to fall apart while driving. I did not say breakdown I mean fall apart. Windows rolling up and down made the worse noise. You had to slam (really slam ) doors to close. The drivers seat was horrible. It looks like the covering was coming off. The radio did not work. I know I was just moving something but for the time I had it for 200.00 I just expected a little more up to date truck. Please retire that truck.laporshe G.

I rented both the uhaul and a storage unit. The uhaul was on empty literally the gas light was in and everything in it was broken. I spoke to the group of teenagers running it and none of them rlly seemed to care to even wanna help me at all so I was pretty frustrated. Like they even made a joke when I said please don't everyone jump to assist me they were were like oh I thought they were then asked who wants to help me. There were literally 4 of them. So I didn't get it. The storage part was ok however again when I needed assistance with my swipe card they literally didn't wanna assist. Press the call but for help. They still aren't coming or assisting. And tool be honest it was pretty expensive to rent so I expect someone to help me get the card to workMichealla R.

Not reimbursed for over filling the fuel but overcharging the customer if it's not where it was. I feel like I was taken advantage of over the price of fuel and me putting too much gas in the tank compared to the quarter tank that it had in it. The vehicle should be full when rented so that this could not happen to any customer.Matthew R.

Everything was fine, except I did not like the idea of having to upload my driver's license into whatever cyberspace area it went. I reserved in person on the day before I needed the van and was given no heads-up about having to use a cellphone to officially sign in. The process seems to be more of a convenience for the company than for the customer - at least for a significant portion of the customer pool.danielhenry B.

Reserved on line a 16' trailer and when I went to pick it up, I was told they didn't have one. Also had to purchase a light connector because the trailer doesn't have the newer light plug. Was not able to go on and return the trailer after hours- frustratingRon S.
The rental experience was positive. The only recommendation I would have is to install a drive over "bell system" to notify employees inside when entering the return area. There is a sign there that says to wait in your vehicle, but no one ever came outside. When I went inside, two of the return guys were just sitting there. If they had somehow been notified that I had entered the return area, that would have prompted them to come outside. Otherwise, I would rent from this location again.Aaron C.

This was the 4th time we rented a uhaul in 3 weeks. Spent alot of money. Made 3 trips to Michigan prior to this trip with no problems. Need to make sure that the equipment that is being rented is ready to rent. Blew out a tire on the car dolly within 200 miles of driving. Had to wait 3 hours for them to bring 2 tires. Made us late for our closing so had to get a hotel for the weekend because the had to reschedule for Tuesday. Not very happy.Mary F.

The online check-in process was so easy, and the email communication on how to access the building and location of the storage unit was great. I was able to check-in days in advance to secure the storage unit, drive across the country with my belongings, and start unloading at 6am before anyone was at the storage facility. When I came inside to ask for help the girl behind the desk just said everything was set up online. When I went out to open the access door- it didn't work so I had to go back inside for her to say-" oh you need a key".. Could have saved me time if she knew that. Then someone else came to activate a key and the key terminal didn't work. Although the second girl was helpful, I could have saved time if the first girl knew I needed a key. Just seemed lazy to me, considering she was just sitting there talking about personal issues to a co-worker. This place was great, and very nice. They understood that I had been having a very bad experience with U-Haul, so they did what they could to make things pleasant. Up to that point, my experience was not good. While the people at the facility in Charleston, SC were nice and tried to fix the issues, the issues should have NEVER happened. Unit was sold without contact or certified mail. Mail was not received or signed for. This location should have taken into consideration that people are having issues with COVID and getting back on their feet before selling off people's units. The people their are nice enough but I lost a lot because of their actions. And to make it worst, a few weeks later, we found out that people were stealing mail in the area so we were not protected because they didn't send something to us via certified mail to let us know. So I wrote a review a few days ago about how I was trying to move and the elevator broke and the hassle I had to go through to get things straight. A few days after that the manager called me and told me how much she believed in quality customer service and how she was going to give me a truck at no cost so I could move the rest of my stuff. Elevator broke while trying to move from second floor. Lady at front was not accommodating, due to the amount of time that it was taking to move with the elevator being broken it cost us more financially because we hired help. Two other employees that were younger were apologetic. However the lady in charge was extremely rude and had poor customer service.
