I pulled into the return lane where it says to wait for the employee to check out. No one came so I went inside and the clerk there told me to leave the key and go. I felt uneasy as I wanted comfirmation of the gas, no damage etc. I went back out and a clerk came and she was very pleasant and reassuring.steven D.

I called the local telephone number about a few questions. I was transferred between multiple people in a contact center and my question still was not answered. I was told to call my local office telephone number to answer the question. That's the number I called!!!Tony A.
I dropped off the truck before time, it was due back 8:30am and I dropped it off at 7:30am. I was charged for an extra day because of this. I went back to address the situation, did not get a resolve. Was told that I would receive a call back and never did. Needless to say I paid for an extra day unnecessarily, and no one ever followed up on it. There was a charge for leaving it overnight (was not aware of the electronic check-in because the pick-up location sucked and didn't give me an envelope from U-haul that would have the information on it. Very disappointed with the costs associated with the rental of the 20' truck. Advertising your rentals for $19- $39 per day is not marketing â€" it's lying. Not to mention that you also have to pay for mileage and fuel. If you come up a bit short on the fuel refill, you are chargedâ€¦ but if you put too much in â€" trying to guess the right amount at the pump â€" you certainly won't get a credit or reimbursement. If your reservation is at 11 am and you arrive 10 minutes early, but it takes until 11:30 am to be seen, don't think your 24 hours will be extended â€" it won't. If you call to let your local UHAUL know you are running late and need 2 more hours to return the truck, they will accommodate by charging a full days rate! Once you buy boxes that cost more than at the home improvement store, get financially needled coming and going, and then robbed at the fuel pump, and snickered at when asking about a reimbursementâ€¦ it's a lot less headache and overall cost to just use a moving company. The Van overall was in excellent condition except when it started a light drizzle rain. I turned on the wipers. They were torn and in very bad condition. There was no drop off box for the key. So I called customer service and they tell me I will have to bring the keys back in the morning. Which was inconvenient for me. No one was in the office, I walked around outside to find someone, inside of windshield was so dirty it made it hard to see in the sunlight. Trucks were lined up into the road trying to check back inTERESA G.
The air conditioning did not blow any air through the ducts except a little through the defroster port on the windshield. It is summer and you would expect that to work properly. The truck was also dirty on the exterior as someone who may have driven it through mud and was dried.ROBIN F.

Staff was aggressively combative with several customers. Very rude and loud and seemed more interested in making sure everyone knew how bad her job was and what a joke Uhaul is to her. when i first came to this location in Gastonia, the clerks were shouting at one another and paid no attention to me for several minutes while I stood near the counter. Finally I was waited on and told they didn't have a hitch for my car and it would take many get one if they could. I went to the location on Wilkinson in Charlotte and they told me they could get one in a week and gave me an install date of two Saturdays future. they contacted me on Thursday before the installation date to say the hitch didn't come in and they would let me know when it would be in. just today 8/30 I got an email sent at 1:24 pm saying I had an appointment for 2:30 pm to have my hitch installed. I didn't open that email until 2:45pm . I called the phone number on the email and was on hold for about 20 mins. & was finally told to come in now and they could take care of me. I drove to the Wilkerson site where I had ordered the hitch and they didn't know about it and said they didn't do hitch installs there and sent me to Gastonia. They did install the hitch and did a good job, although they didn't install the hitch i had asked for, one with a two inch receiver. the installer said my car wouldn't handle it. i had explained to the girl that took my order that I wanted to put a basket on the back of my car to carry my mobility scooter and she assured me the hitch would work. the installer said I could buy a separate adaptor that would work. with that madness and runaround I certainly would not recommend U-Haul to any of my friends to have a hitch installed.james B.

Fix your app- we always have issues with it not knowing where we are- my location works for all my other apps- Also the card info we put in wasn't saved to use. Like how hotel rooms and other places work- just some different glitchy things- also have the equipment we ordered on the truck- we had to ask for the dollies and furniture pads. Other than that we eventually got the truck and had a good trip.SEERAM K.

Very little area to park the truck when returning. Dropbox was very difficult to find. The Online return process was very glitchy and had several problems. The employees did not seem friendly nor did they seem to care to answer any of my questions. Very disappointed.CARSON B.

My only suggestion is to have more employees working the counter. I picked up my rental on a Sunday morning and it was packed with people and only 1 employee. She was fantastic and great at her job but other employees would have helped speed up the checkout processes.Webster W.
Twenty minutes after I left the U-Haul location the 'low tire pressure' indicator light came on. In addition a digital message appeared just below the speedometer. The message read: 'Service Tire Monitor System.' I still had 2 hours of driving ahead (out and back). I called the local U-Haul number and was on hold for 15 minutes. Then a U-Haul overflow operator came on the phone. She took my information and transferred me to 'Emergency Road Assistance.' A computerized voice came on the phone and I clicked on # 1. I then waited 15 minutes for someone to come on the line. No-one came on the line. I then hung up. Halfway into my trip I was able to stop and check the tires. The tire pressure on all 4 tires looked fine to me. I continued on with my trip until I returned the truck later that afternoon. I suggested to the attendant that this truck should not be allowed to be rented until a tech inspected the cause of the low tire pressure and the service message. One of the staff said they were aware that a 'sensor' needed to be replaced on the truck. I hope the sensor is replaced on the truck before it is rented again. I was nervous the entire trip.PHILLIP M.

After a very disappointing interaction with the Wilkinson Blvd (Charlotte NC) location where they did not have our trailer and did not notify us, then told us she would set us up to return the trailer at her location but did not, the Gastonia location was fabulous!!! Zero tolerance for behavior of employees and no response from management and no follow up from customer service. Making threats to make slander and make false police reports against me is unexcusable. There was no reason to instigate me, I communicated well and respectfully with full transparency. The location code for a mobile pickup is on an electric sliding door that opens and closes too quickly for the barcode scanner to function. It's impossible to scan. The reason I wanted the mobile pickup is because checking in at the front desk takes 10-15 minutes per customer. It's so absurdly slow. Then, when dropping off the truck, there's no clearly marked key drop off box. I put it in the mailbox by the road. Hopefully that's the intended location. Even the website is garbage. Why erase the order if the screen is inactive for 5 minutes? Sometimes customers have to get information for the order or attend to small matters around them for a few minutes. Then, when a truck size is guaranteed online, you should probably have that same size on hand when the customer comes to pick-up the truck an hour later. Sure, I got a 26 footer instead of a 20, but I didn't order a semi in the first place because I didn't want to drive a truck that size down narrow country roads. Driving through hurricane weather and Charlotte rush hour just added to the misery. Overall, I've never had a good experience with U-Haul, but this one takes the cake. Next time I need a rental, I'm inclined to pay extra and work with another company.SCOTT M.

The trucks A/C worked only part of the time. My biggest issue was having to give out several phone numbers for ( security reasons). Also my reservation was transferred to another location a lot farther away. Also I don't understand how you can give someone a truck with 1/4 tank of gas. I ended up stopping several times for gas. So I wrote a review a few days ago about how I was trying to move and the elevator broke and the hassle I had to go through to get things straight. A few days after that the manager called me and told me how much she believed in quality customer service and how she was going to give me a truck at no cost so I could move the rest of my stuff. Elevator broke while trying to move from second floor. Lady at front was not accommodating, due to the amount of time that it was taking to move with the elevator being broken it cost us more financially because we hired help. Two other employees that were younger were apologetic. However the lady in charge was extremely rude and had poor customer service. I had to go all the way to Walmart and purchase a Brinks lock because this U-Haul location did not have one on the day I moved in. Then two days later they moved me out without my permission. My lock was cut off and they went through my stuff. I was told it was to find out who the storage unit belonged to but that should have been in the computer along with my phone number. Nobody bothered to call me to ask me if I had moved out before cutting my lock off. The day they cut my lock off I got a phone call asking if I had two storage units. I told them I just had one and they said ok. They never mentioned they had cut my lock off. There was no apology or offer to replace my Brinks lock. They did give me a u-haul lock. I didn't find out the lock had been removed until I arrived at the storage unit on Friday and my keys did not work. Luckily I arrived during office hours. I asked the ladies in the office why my lock was switched and there was a white tag on the door but nobody seemed to know what a white tag meant. They eventually found the keys to the new lock and I moved out.Derek C. | First Impressions
My access card didn't work and I rented a moving truck to move my things a couldn't due to my access card being denied twice so I wasted a whole u-haul rental when I should have been moving.
