I did not only drop off here but have a storage unit here as well. I am moving due to the unexpected passing of my fiancé. The employees in Gastonia made this experience so much worse than it already was. We had issues with the elevators and how they would shut before you could load things to get to the basement. When asked for assistance they were less than helpful and made the situation worse by just standing there and offering no assistance. When the people helping me became frustrated saying “this is bullshit” and “how the hell are we supposed to load this shit” one employee (girl wearing boot) told them not to cuss. However, the other employee who was a young skinny girl with long dark hair said “fuck em” and they both walked away like I wasn't standing right there. They then proceeded to announce over the intercom that I would be charged with the card on file to fix the elevator if it were to break. Never mind the elevator was closing on us (hitting our bodies) every 5 seconds. This place is beyond ridiculous and if I had the energy to move again right now I would in a heartbeat.

I was first given a van that had active/live roaches on it. Then asked to change vehicles. Upon departure and returning the vehicle i was told everything was good an ok. The. Was hit with a cleaning fee an a additional 100 dollars. Called an was super upset but wasn't helped.

Van interior and especially exterior had not been cleaned before use. I didn't make an issue of this because I was on a time schedule. I did make sure to sweep out both the inside of the cab and cargo area. This location needs to make sure the vehicle is cleaned before use, especially now with what our country is going through.

I drove 13 miles for this rental. When I returned the vehicle, the employee simply said, "You're all good." Then the contact came through via email with a $21 charge for fueling. The gas gauge had barely moved; I had perhaps used a gallon of gas. "All good" sounded to me like there wouldn't be a surcharge. If he had told me they would charge, I would have gone across the street and put a gallon of fuel in the tank to avoid the charge. I know the contract specifies fueling; but don't mislead customers about enforcement. I have rented from U-haul for years. They have always come out on the plus side with the gas in their vehicles. I'm generous to a fault. Shame on me.

This location was awesome. Personnel made it all happen since my order was never transferred to this location. However, my UHaul experience was less than poor. I made reservations 3 weeks in advance. My pickup location was moved to 4 different locations due to no truck available.. Was denied mileage exemption. Was denied closer return location...Should have been compensated for my less than poor overall experiencel!

I had a very subpar experience while picking up my rental. The on-phone reservation portion went off without a hitch. The representative I spoke with was pleasant and proficient. I regret not getting her name. However, the in-person store pickup portion was regrettable. I had the misfortune of interacting with a Madison Mistry who was aloof, uninterested, and unprofessional at helping me and the other customer who were waiting to pickup our reservations. She walked in, sat down behind the desk, and crossed her legs. She did this without even acknowledging we were alive, never mind standing in wait of someone to assist us. The other customer said something, which prompted Ms. Mistry to say, "Yeah, I'm ready whenever you are." At that point I informed her that it was rude to just walk in and not even greet us, and let us know that you're ready to help us. We were waiting for her to say something because we thought she was still assisting another customer outside -- and we told her that as well. The other customer and I did not know each other, but were on one accord with the lack of customer service from Ms. Mistry. The floor of the truck that I reserved was covered in red dirt when I picked it up. I didn't want to be blamed for that so I cleaned it up before turning it in while at the gas station. I was so flummoxed by my experience, that I called corporate Uhaul while in route to my destination. The representative was, once again, very understanding, empathized, apologetic, and promised a result from the GM of this particular location. A lot of corporate representatives say this, and it's usually just to placate you, but imagine my surprise when I actually received a phone call from the GM of this location. She was lovely, Ms. Madison (different from the young lady I had the encounter with) and I spoke for a brief moment, but in that moment she promised me (and I definitely believe her), that re-training would be implemented, and she thanked me for bringing the issue to her attention. I wanted to assure her that I did not want the young lady to lose her job, but just be better at it. And assured me that she would not lose her job, but that re-training would definitely be had. And as a cherry on top, she issued me partial refund! She didn't have to do that, but she wanted to make it right. Now that's great customer service recovery...and retention!

Did not have the equipment I reserved. Not helpful, kept telling me that's not what shows on her screen yet I showed her my confirmation email showing the right equipment. Her response well that's not what's on my end. I tried explaining that's not my issue, I booked through a phone reservation and told her to pull the phone call. Told her I need the $50 dollar reservation guarantee. She said I'll have to wait until “they” review the call. Then she didn't help me find what I needed. Told me some one will call me with the closest location that has it . I never received any phone call.

I had a “guaranteed” reservation at 9:30 at another location which had no trucks available when I arrived. After being sent to two more locations who also did not have trucks, I finally was able to get one from the Franklin Blvd store nearly 3 hours later. Cindy was excellent and helpful even though the store was slammed. I am very disappointed with the service I received from U-haul in general, given that the supposedly “reserved” truck I had did not actually exist and it set my move back several hours, but the staff at this specific location were great.

I had to go all the way to Walmart and purchase a Brinks lock because this U-Haul location did not have one on the day I moved in. Then two days later they moved me out without my permission. My lock was cut off and they went through my stuff. I was told it was to find out who the storage unit belonged to but that should have been in the computer along with my phone number. Nobody bothered to call me to ask me if I had moved out before cutting my lock off. The day they cut my lock off I got a phone call asking if I had two storage units. I told them I just had one and they said ok. They never mentioned they had cut my lock off. There was no apology or offer to replace my Brinks lock. They did give me a u-haul lock. I didn’t find out the lock had been removed until I arrived at the storage unit on Friday and my keys did not work. Luckily I arrived during office hours. I asked the ladies in the office why my lock was switched and there was a white tag on the door but nobody seemed to know what a white tag meant. They eventually found the keys to the new lock and I moved out.

My access card didn't work and I rented a moving truck to move my things a couldn't due to my access card being denied twice so I wasted a whole u-haul rental when I should have been moving. I contacted customer service only to be told after going in circles that they have no access to the cards to help me so it was a waste of time and I still need to move. hopefully U-Haul pays for another day because it's their fault that I can't have access to get to my storage because my card doesn't work and you don't open back up until 9 on Sunday and my truck is due back at that time.

I have used this location several times. Parking is an issue. The rental trucks are parked and stored where customers are supposed to park to load and unload. If you don’t have a way for your customers to use your facility then it is useless. I moved to a new facility that is more accessible. Also the temperature is 80 degrees upstairs making it hard to work in your space.

The staff was stretched out. I spent 20 minutes on the phone reserving truck and storage, 20 minutes trying to provide online info that obviously didn't transmit, 30 minutes checking in at the facility for truck, 20 minutes getting storage. Good customer service, clean facilities... only minor problem I had was the difficulty to get the storage unit locking mechanism to lock... Despite that, this is a great location with great people!!!
