Mngr. Les and team were Fantastic, and didn't make us 70 year olds drive to Gilroy to get 20 ft Truck. Les gave us a great deal & mileage package, if we returned truck to S. Grimmer U-Haul, Fremont. Superb Customer Service. Totally followed Covid procedures, we felt safe. We will refer friends to U-Haul and this location.

The left signal/brake light was not functioning. Someone told me that my signal was not working and that I was making lane changes with no signal to other drivers. That was a safety concern that proper inspection by U-Haul should have been done prior to giving me the vehicle. No doubt and potential liability.

First off I wanted to comment on how clean and well put together this store was. The staff was friendly and amazing. Other than having to pick up the truck in a different location that originally planned, which is to no fault of the Fremont store, everything went well. They made the process and my move as quick easy as possible from pick up to drop off, as it should be when you are moving. I will be returning to this store.

When arriving, there was only one person working and when I dropped the truck off 8 hours later there was still one person and the same one from the morning. I was never told I would receive a text message asking me to lookover the truck before leaving the parking lot to note any damages, mileage, or fuel level ( which was not correct). Once I got home and seen the text for the condition questionnaire it would not allow me to enter the photo I took before leaving the lot. It is sad that during this pandemic, U-Haul has not implemented a clean vehicle program that comforts customers when renting. The truck was not dirty but it also was not clean to a point that I was comfortable it had been sanitized after its last use. I took time at home cleaning the knobs, buttons, handles, steering wheel and other items before putting my family in to it.

I have no location specific comments. I will not be using U-haul again due to your outdated reservation systems. I should not find out day of that my uhaul is reserved out of my town. Both times I have reserved uhauls they have added 30min-2 HOURS! to my long moving day. Unacceptable. Update your systems to keep track of stock the way most other modern companies (rental truck or otherwise) use.

This was the absolute WORST customer experience I have ever had. If you are considering U-haul, please do not go. We had our truck reserved in San Francisco, CA for weeks, and on the day before our move, they called us to let us know that our truck was ready in Nevada!! That is a 5.5 hour drive away from us, and to no surprise, we didn't have time for an 11 hour road trip. The customer service rep we spoke to was so rude and unhelpful, and he told us they do this often to customers!! I spoke to many friends who had a similar experience, and had to last minute pay thousands of dollars for movers because they weren't told until the night before their move. We were so panicked because we had to move, had already hired movers, and U-haul had completely ruined our plans. I had to spend 5 hours on the phone the night before our move to find an alternative, and FINALLY a woman let us know about a U-haul truck that was an hour away. The truck was much too small for us, so we had to leave our couches and many pieces of furniture behind because U-haul can't keep their word on reservations. They didn't offer us a discount or refund or anything, and we lost so much time and money using U-Haul. To add fuel to the fire, our U-Haul wouldn't start after packing, and we had to ask help to jump it. I will NEVER use U-Haul again.

I would recommend Les and this this location. I wish I lived closer to Fremont. Based on this entire experience, I will be hard pressed to ever use UHaul again. Les went out of his way on my move. Day to make sure I had something to use. UHaul San Rafael sucks. Uhaul customer service for complaints can't do anything, poor performance. Good luck not going out of business.

I was redirected to Fremont to get my truck and there was no mileage adjustment. I was originally requesting a pick up in San Jose, I also recorded my destination and drop off location in advance. Yet the shorted the miles calf and then I got hit with a mileage overage charge. Clearly the overage was all based on location change.

No one was at the desk but out getting lunch and no backup. I also could not put truck in parking spot due to food truck blocking access. On plus side, I had forgotten my mask and employee quickly gave me one. GREAT! Also. even though computer problems were happening they quickly worked around them and the final billing was done exactly correct without any hassles.

My truck reservation was not ready on the day I booked it (originally the day before Sept 11 at the Thornton Blvd location). I was called the night before by your team to confirm the truck would in fact be there, but the following day off the reservation I was text notified 15 minutes before my scheduled pickup time that the truck was not there. I had moving crews arranged for both the loading and unloading locations that day, but no truck to use. A truck was then arranged for the following day, so then rearranged new crews for then. I was given the UHaul $50 reservation guarantee, but that barely covered the wasted round trip Lyft ride I had already taken to the Thornton depot where I received the last minute message. What about all those movers I had to pay for their wasted time? What is the point of your reservation system and confirmation calls if they can't be relied on?

When I arrived I inquired if there were any other larger trucks then the 15 foot that was available I was originally looking for a 20 foot but would have taken anything larger, I was told no nothing larger, the person helping me seemed annoyed to have to help me in the first place. Another couple came in right after me attempting to get a larger truck and were told they did have a 17 foot truck by a different employee, I would have happily taken that 17 foot truck had it been offered why I asked if there was anything larger , just really bad customer service , the guy helping me didn't even look just said no. really disappointing service on this particular persons part.

I reserved a flat trailer and was told and confirmed with an email that I was going to pick it up in Oakland, two days later I received an emailed with an update on my order that I needed to pick up the trailer in Fremont, after I arrived to the location in Fremont ca asked for the trailer I reserved they gave me a dolly not a flat bed as I requested at that time I had lost 1 hrs of my time, this company needs to be more organized and have better trained phone operators, their system make people loose time and money. I really don't recommend U-Haul I will go somewhere else next time, somewhere else you pay more but have a much better service.

While he got what we needed, he made little or no effort in explaining about the vehicle, and was in a rush to deal with next customer No effort was made to answer any questions I had. The credit system and computer issue made ur too long. They had to get and insurance it by phone. Stuff was friendly. But only 1 person and he was running even to help

The location and especially the manager, Les, were great. Not great at all was our experience with actually getting a truck. We reserved two weeks before and paid in advance. The site where we intended to pick up did not have our truck. Half an hour on the phone with U-Haul scheduling (where I was told the website is basically to be avoided and I should have called the local store) got us to U-Haul in Fremont (thank you Les!), where, several hours later we finally got a truck. But we were unable to get a one-way truck, which meant an additional 7 hours of driving and a super-rushed job on a very hot day packing the truck. Despite the awesome service at the Fremont shop, I will look really hard for alternatives the next time I need to rent. The reservation process is a nightmare and there seems to be no guarantee that a reservation (even paid in advance) actually gets you a truck. I can think of no other business sector that would ever get away with such a shoddy system.

Lester was very professional and nice. He made the rental seem easy and made certain the trailer was properly hitched before I left. The guys doing intake at the end of the rental were also very friendly and did a great job. This is an example of how great a rental place can run. The building space had everything you could possibly need to get your truck/suv set up for towing. Clean, nice people, and affordable rates. What more could you ask for? I will be back.

I would suggest that you install sensor lights inside each locker so that the light comes on when there is someone in the locker and goes out when the locker is closed. The locker I had was too dark.
