When someone rents a storage unit make sure there is one available. Had to go all the way to Pawtucket for a storage unit. Add a lot of time to an already long day. Further, I did not get the first month free discount on the storage rental that I would have at the Mendon location. Really turned a good start to a move into a bad taste in the mouth.Les M.
The location is okay. The staff doesn't want to help us and asks us to do the pick up and return using the app even during the regular hours . Rental return was extremely difficult. Online return was not a pleasant experience and I shouldn't have been charged a penalty for early return the evening before it was due. I was exhausted and not able to work through your return website. I was also charged for not sweeping out the truck. It was not dirty. It was stated there was broken glass. I didn't have anything glass being transported. I only had lawn ornaments and outdoor furniture. I was charged a penalty. I wasn't told to sweep on my return. I was charged a cleaning fee. Do you clean your rental car before you return? I left a full tank of gas and returned a day early. I will peruse other rental companies in the future.GEOFFREY D.

I had the simple task of moving an item and needed to rent a trailer for a couple hours. Upon initial arrival, I was told the trailers only had flat electrical adapters to plug in trailer lights to the truck, and not round 7 blade which are very standard. They would sell me an adapter. I opted to come back the next morning with a different truck which did not require an adapter. Upon renting the trailer for a few hours, I was urged to buy the U-Haul insurance for just as much as the rental. I already have insurance so declined. They told me I was liable for $6,000 minimum damages if anything went wrong with the trailer while I was renting. Upon attaching the 5 x 8 trailer to my truck, I realized this trailer was a giant rust bucket. All bolts, hardware, wheel lugs completed rusted to the point of fully seized. This trailer was never maintained and worth no more than $500 never mind the $6000 minimum they were looking to extort for using my own insurance. I was now more worried about my cargo on this disaster on wheels. The final straw was the store clerk who told me in order to return the trailer for my convenience, I had to Login to U-Haul from the parking lot from my own computer or smartphone and enter all types of information, on U-haul's website, give U-haul access to my photos, give U-haul access to my location along with other private, unnecessary and invasive requests. Upon return within the timeframe I rented for, I tried to use U-Hauls website to return the item. While on the website there were repeated errors and I could not finalize the process for over 15 minutes. I then found the clerk and asked that he could check-in the trailer as returned because I'm having difficulty with the website and connecting. He said he cannot do that, and if I can't figure it out, U-haul would charge me additional fees. I'm just wondering where customer service went, and how customers are now responsible to overcome technology obstacles or be penalized. Is this just another sneaky and clever way to bilk customers? Where does the buck stop?JAMES B.

The guy working was very nice and helpful. The only issue was that he was there all alone. This caused the wait time to be longer than it should have been. I got there at 5:45 for a 6pm pickup and wasn't out of there until 7. The â€œlocationâ€ feature on the website is awful. While dropping my rental off close to closing time I attempted to use this feature and it would not work. I refrained from going inside because of how long it took during pick up. I tried and tried with the app. The store eventually closed and I got so fed up that I left. Then I got charged 20 bucks for an after hours drop off. The extra fees are outrageous. The employee was great but uhaul really needs to step up.OWEN R.

I did not go 30 miles and over. It would be nice to get a refund, instead of you guys pit pocketing your costomers. Which I was told you do often. I heard of other costomers experiences that were equivalent to mine. About you over charging costomers for ridiculous false issues. Moving is hard but my experience with the gentleman at the Mendon Rd Cumberland on Friday night made it so much easier. He explained everything and was so friendly and helpful. I hired professional movers but we were able to save so much money by transporting all of the boxes and small items back and forth ourselves in the UHaul truck. Customer prior to me was in an accident, I was told to go to a different location and given another vehicle. I was told I would receive a $50 credit for the inconvenience and did not receive it. I was told at the location that the other location should send me the credit and that I would have to call them. I could not get through on the phone and was billed the full amount. Not the Cumberland stores fault, but very hard to get through on the phone and never received the 50 back and had to make more trips with the van.Paul L.

When I arrived to pick up the truck I reserved the computer system was down and they couldn't process my reservation. After about 20 minutes the attendant took all my info with pen and paper and I was given the keys to the truck. It had 112,000 miles on it, I was planning on a 4 1/2 hour trip one way and back to pick up a few rooms of furniture. The truck was amazing, not a single problem, kudos for the maintenance people. The attendant was very friendly and helpful, it was actually a very positive experienceKen M.

This Uhaul location is horrible Has the worst customer service I have ever seen in business. Had the horrible experience to meet Brian on Saturday when I returned the trailer I rented. I completely regretted renting from this location after this experience. It doesn't seem that there is a better person anyways. As the other lady that always call you honey is rude too. I guess I will drive further for my rental needs in hopes that not all Uhaul's are the same. Please please find employees that actually enjoy working with the local community.JESUS A.

There was only one person working on the first weekend of the month, we waited inside the location for 20 min with no help, I saw two gentlemen at the area for grill tanks so I asked â€œdo either of you work hereâ€ and was screamed at. Listen I was lied to about the fuel amount in vehicle and took pictures of it at the time and no one wants to make right for the mistake... after speaking with service person of this location. I wouldn't recommend anyone to this location ever. I personally will never use this location ever again and will campaign against this U-Haul facility ... all for a few stolen dollars! This is not about any money but the principal. No one wants to be ripped off no one!!! I can see if I had no evidence of this. But I do and they don't give a care! The check in to pick up could be more efficient. 10am reservation.. finally got in truck at 11:15.. I understand with covid restrictions this might be hard. One employee only checking people in, hooking up trailers, cashing people out, filling propane tanks... 3 people ahead of me and it took me an hour to get in and out... and I had checked in online. The GM was extremely rude... I was there with my 17 year old and he noticed it - rude and condescending to the people in front of us, openly making fun of customers that just left, and short to us when we were hooking up the trailer and trying to assist. I've rented trailers and trucks before from UHaul - first time at this location. They are always short staffed; Considering you are booking online, should be quicker... but at least if the customer service was better, you wouldn't mind as much!Ronald L.

After 17 years of having a space at your center the only bright spot was Brian Rishe, who was very friendly, helpful and sympathetic to my situation. The lock had been changed without my knowledge or permission in 2007 by "David " the manager at that time. I don't understand why a perfectly good lock was removed without my knowledge or permission. According to computer notes it is alleged that 2 keys were sent to me which I knew nothing about. Why a master key was not maintained in the office defys any and all business common sense. on part of your management. Then we find the lock was put on upside down which required me to call a locksmith and spend an additional $75.00 to have the circular lock removed. Next I tried to access the unit only to have to pry open the door handle with considerable force because the door and the bar had been over painted causing both to bond together. Once in it was apparent that someone had been in my unit since the plastic I used to cover everything within the unit was dumped in the middle of the floor, boxes were everywhere, my file cabinet draws were opened and the contents were rifled through, and the floor was covered with odd and end garbage consisting of metals shards, ripped up paper, and crayola crayons , all of which had nothing to do with my contents. The place was a disgusting mess. Then the worse problem was that my Conn Symphony 8 H trombone in my original case was missing!! As if to make matters even worse, I was informed that U-Haul's policy is not to reimburse portions of monthly payments unused. I intend to contact U-Haul headquarters to resolve this but suspect that it will end up in a court battle.ROBERT R. | Overall Experience
