I rented a pickup truck . I attempted to rent from the nearest location available. i went ahead and reserved a truck at a location close to me, when I arrived the employee stated that my truck rental was no longer there, and that it had been transferred to another location 5 miles away. This was disappointing as U-Haul didnt bother to let me know of this change. Not through email nor a phone call. So this meant that i now had to add another 5 miles onto my trip, this was very inconvenient.Luke P.

Locations were fine. I drive from an Arizona desert to a California desert in August. The AC unit on the truck stopped blowing on and off the entire trip. Very hot and miserable. But the locations and cleanliness of the truck was good.Katherine U.

The only complaint I have is that U Haul in general has a horrible answering service (800#). Its the only number listed and trying to get a hold of anyone was nearly impossible. The employee at the sales counter did an excellent job trying to manage multiple customers all by himself. He needed help on a busy Saturday morning. Marcus did an exceptional job with the return process-very efficient and great customer service. My only complaint is the low tire sensor- I stopped to put air in the tire and it wasn't accepting any air. I retuned the van early as I didn't feel safe on the highway. This should have been addressed before the rental.Blade B.
The truck was filthy, I had to get my own hand truck from some storage area after the associate first indicated that I didn't have one on my reservation. Turns out the one he had me get and load myself was the incorrect hand truck and I had to buy one at Home Depot. The truck was so dirty inside and out, I sent photos via the link. Also the truck was in bad shape, it struggled at times and it took 2 full tanks of fuel to go 280 miles. This truck cost me way more than it should have. I have always rented with Penske, but I like the idea of renting via my phone. Turns out that didn't work either. This was a fail.Ray H.

The overall experience was excellent. However, the one suggestion would be that the windshield was quite dirty and it would have been nice if it had been washed prior to my rental. The person who helped me was very friendly and when I asked if they wash the trucks before each rental, he said that in the desert environment it gets quite dusty so it's hard to keep the windshield clean. However, there were lot's of bug splats on the windshield that weren't related to the dust. But otherwise everything was in good mechanical shape and the interior and back of the truck were clean.Greg J.

Notify the customer ahead of time that the van they requested was not available and that a larger truck was being substituted. Wasted time looking for a van with the wrong numbers. Also the truck they provided had a huge crack in the windshield. Ran the risk of getting stopped and receiving a ticket.CURT S.
The interior of the truck cab was filthy. Windshield was dirty and there was no windshield wiper fluid in the tank. The bathroom in the lobby was filthy. There was no tp and no soap to wash my hands. The guys on the staff were nice and courteous. They were clearly understaffed and were apologetic. I checked in online from the parking lot and still had to go inside and wait approx 15-20 min to find out which truck I was supposed to take.Jen G.
Acknowledge customers when they approach the counter. One of the staff was working at the second workstation but was not assisting customers. Customers would wait at that workstation but he would not acknowledge or assist customers. You could definitely do a lot better with customer service over the phone. I had 2 tires on the trailer losing air pressure. When I contacted customer service they just left me on hold more than a couple times. It inconvenienced my day very much. Could have dropped the trailer off at another u-haul dealer but would have been charged over $200 . Had to drive it all the way back and those hazardous conditionsAmos H.
The service at CC location has some attitude and was not a good experience. And the lady that came to deliver our u-boxes had already decided where to put them without hearing my views on it! We made an online reservation for a van between the hours of 12 noon to 5 pm. When we arrived our van was ready and Angel inside the office was great handling our business for the day. He even gave us until 7PM to return the van. We returned it at about 5:15 PM and the worker who handled our return made it simple and fast to checkout. Our entire experience with U-Haul and Angel was a great experience without any issues. I highly recommend this U-Haul location.Cliff S.

When I rented the uhaul I was told the gas tank was half full. When I got in the tank w 2/4ths full. I got out and showed the guy that handed me the keys. He told me to take a pic showing the tank w the mileage before I left. I returned the truck with the same gas as when I picked up after going to the gas station across the street. I showed the guy the pic of when I drove off and the pic of the tank when I returned. He told me he would adjust on the bill. As I was driving away I received the receipt in my email. When I opened I noticed that he charged me $23 for gas??? Even though he verified through the pics that the tank was the same. I called into the location and the guy that answered the phone told me I should have logged into the app and posted the before and after pics w the mileage and gas tank. He then said â€œwe can't assure that our employees work do what they say so you need to ensure you do it your selfâ€. He said it would be a couple of days before I saw the credit post to my account. I still have not seen alit and was not sent an email saying the over charge credit is pending. Please help if you are reading this as it feels a bit like bait and switch.Glenn F.
I rented two trucks, a 26' and a 10'. The 26' truck performed just fine. I used it for 24 hours. The return process on that one was fast and awesome. The 10' truck was easy to drive and I used it for 2 days. On Sunday, the last day, when we went to start it, the battery was dead. Nothing had been left on and it had been driven with no problem the day before. We had a friend come and give it a jump start which worked but slowed us down an hour which is critical in the desert heat. But we were done by 10 and got it back ASAP . So my comment would be to check batteries before sending them out.. Other than that we were grateful for the good experience of well performing trucks.Joann B.

This was an experience that began fantastic and slowly got worse as well as more expensive. The facility that I booked the Ubox at took down every detail INCLUDING when and where I wanted it delivered. Mysteriously, that address and the delivery I felt I paid for slipped through the cracks (?????) and I ended up with an additional $200+ in charges to get what I needed when I needed it. The driver side windsheild wiper fell off during a rain storm. The car hauler we rented had a cracked fender, the wires were not plugged in correctly, the carabiner for the chains was not tightened and during transportation the wheel straps fell off my car.Michelle C.
Reservation was for 6am. We ran into a â€œsee front deskâ€ message. We tried to call customer support twice as well as starting a virtual chat. We were hung up on after 45 minutes then an hour and virtual chat was ended with zero help. We waited 3 hours for the store to open with ZERO explanation on why we needed to see the front desk. The cashier couldn't have cared less either and had an annoyed attitude when I asked why we weren't able to complete the check in and asked for a different corporate number because we had issues with the 1800 number on the site. Considering the uhaul website mentions how the company values customer time it's crazy how much time was wasted on getting this truck. Timeliness was so vital to this day because it was a move in the desert and by the time I got to my destination it was about 115. With the planned schedule this would've been avoided. I had even called the night before to confirm reservation and asked if I needed anything further for truck share. Don't offer truck share if it doesn't work and no customer support is available.Joy O.

I have mixed feelings about U-Haul and this location. My complaint is that my reservation indicated I would be able to pick up the van prior to the store opening, as long as I had a mobile device. When I arrived, there was no van waiting, no instructions on how to use the mobile device to check out the van, and no one to help. I had to wait over 1/2 hour for the store to open. At that point there was a line of people and had to wait another 1/2 hour until I spoke with someone. I attempted to contact U-Haul via phone, but had to wait for a callback. When they called back, I was on hold for over 5 minutes then I hung up. Customer service via Phone is terrible. On the plus side, the employees were friendly and knowledgeable. Spencer told me they were building the fences higher to keep people from getting. One of my locks was cut off after less than 24 hours in my unit. You need to pave all the areas as if moving carts are being used and not having ramps at the entrance to the indoor storage is just dumb. Don't put up signs bragging about the indoor temperate being controlled when on the few occasions I actually showed up it wasn't even close. There is a real issue with telephone communication at this location. I'm guessing management is either overextended or just doesn't care but many simple issues that could be solved were kicked down the line adding to really everyone's additional time wasted. Have someone that can take care of the phones and I'll bet you won't have any bad reviews or irritated customers as I've noticed on most visits there's always one or two upset folks: There's got to be someone at home that could go on payroll and quickly resolve most problems . You have sone really great workers there and you've got some lousy ones but honestly neither seen to stay. U-Haul is a smart company and kinda quietly crept up and made itself the only affordable ish option for moving and storage but I can't say I really love it like everything about it . This location is ok but it's just because it's really the only game in town. I've found better prices and better service within a half mile but I did have to wait for a space and of course they don't rent trucks , so thank you for the space it was clean and available.. I don't mean to be a jerk I'm just being blunt. You obviously have a good business, I think it could be a great one with a few improvements. It's interesting that not getting good service lingers and kinda leads a good customer away when the cost to actually take care of it was so little. We were so relieved to discover we got a month of free storage with our one way rental. Our home buying experience did not allow us to move directly in..in fact it took 4 additional months!! We had to pay for 3 months and were so glad our unit was air conditioned. A staff member verified all the units were secured twice daily by physical inspection. And for secure?...you had to use your gate pass to also exit every time you came. Video surveillance was also used. If we ever move again...U-Haul is our choice.Michael F. | Overall Experience

The entire time I was moved in, the staff could not provide me with an access code or card. They repeatedly told me the gate controls were broken and being fixed. They never were. I had to call over the intercom to be let in. One evening they left for the day with me and my vehicle in there and I had to hop the fence, leave my car, and have my wife pick me up. I rented a 20 ft truck to go 1 way to cat city & was told I got a few storage for a month. I was told it wAs 10x8x5. (It's your business & you should know that a 20 ft truck worth of stuff won't fit 1/4 of my belongings in, so what should have taken 4-5 hrs took all day (I'm disabled w a broken neck). I had to move my stuff to a different storage then bring the truck back. I would expect some kind of refund or a free truck for my reservation on the 8th as the 3 things & confirmation # were wrong. The staff and facility are excellent. The only reason for a less than excellent rating is the wait time I experience at multiple U-Haul locations and all times of the day or month or week. It appears U-Haul could upgrade your systems to help support your staff. Everything seems to take too much personal intervention. The new ap is an improvement, for sure, and keep it up. The facility itself was fine, and the service I received actually went above and beyond; but I cannot recommend this location. During the 5 or 6 times I visited the office, there was always at least one employee inside (usually more) with no mask. Those who did have masks often would only wear them when customers entered, or would wear them improperly (many customers followed suit). It does not take a rocket scientist to understand how masks work, but many of the employees at this location seem to either not understand or not care. I should mention that there was one female employee (blonde) that seemed to always have her mask on, and she should be duly commended. Sadly most of the other employees working inside (predominantly the young males) didn't seem to take it seriously whatsoever.Joshua D. | Overall Experience

I was told that I was to receive a 10x15 unit and was given a reservation number. When I arrived at the location, I was told that they couldn't locate my reservation and that there were no more units available in that size. I had just driven 590 miles, had a truck full of items to be stored and I was extremely tired. This was not good news. The young man behind the counter was kind and pleasant but could only offer me a 10x10. I accepted it because I had no other options at that point and had to take a lot of items to the dump.Sandra B. | First Impressions
I am extremely unhappy! I was given a trailer with retread tires and one came off during the trip, costing me $123 to buy a new one. Then when getting to my end destination, I was charged insurance on the storage unit, but never got one, even though I had one reserved! This meant that I had to book in overnight in Palm desert costing me $ 156 so that I am able to arrange a storage unit elsewhere the following day at a more expensive rate. So no, I am not happy, but this will be heard by everyone I know, and I will post this on my LinkedIn profile where I have in excess of 1,000 top CEO's and Presidents of Companies as connections. So, I will leave the ball in your court and give you until Monday afternoon to decide how you are going to compensate me for this massive inconvenience!Anthony v. | Overall Experience

Our first contact was with a employee named Jose. He was rude and unhelpful. We asked if we could get the 1 month free storage so we could unload our truck on 6/10 and then go unload the remainder of our belongings and then turn the truck in. It was 104* that day! It was 11am and the truck was not due to turn in until that Friday 6/12. He rudely said No! and would not discuss it. As we were leaving two other employees both named Chris were amazing and helpful. They proceeded to get in contact with Whitney the asst mgr. who was amazing as well. WE were able to get into the storage unit and off load the items and then turned the truck in earlier than expected. What is a shame is the very first contact we had with anyone in Palm Springs was Jose. JERK! Thank you Whitney and both Chris's. This U-Haul facility is a model for a well managed and operated representative of the U-Haul business. From start to finish, my experience was exemplary in all ways...especially customer service.
