I was not personally shown to my vehicle. I was given the keys and had to go around the back of the building to find it. When I found it, it was the oldest vehicle on the lot and it was missing a signal light. I had a journey of over 1100 miles and was concerned about the condition of the vehicle being over 15 years old. The online self inspection didn't work and when I called the 1-800 number they said they couldn't resend the link. They also said that despite there being many newer trucks on the lot this one was the only one that was available for a one way trip. After gong back inside and not finding anyone available to help I decided to take the truck and call roadside assistance to fix the signal light and check the remainder of the vehicle for me. Roadside replaced the signal light and topped up the fluids after confirming they were low. The vehicle made it to our destination but the ride was incredibly rough and the steering was rickety.Christian S.

It took approximately 40 minutes from walking in the front door to finally getting a truck, with one other customer ahead of me. This beats the previous record of 25 minutes from the last I had an extended wait at a U-Haul counter.JASON V.

I was told 0.79/km when I ordered the truck. The day of pick up the lady went through my info, estimated 100km and that my total so far was about $140. I took my contract and went, come to find that it was put down $1.27/km with an estimated 60km. When phoned to dispute, the man was very rude and continued to repeat that I signed the contract and â€˜too bad', it didn't matter what it said online because I signed. It's too bad because a month earlier I had a great experience but now I'll have to find services else where. Really disappointed.Marie S.

The cab of the truck was not clean. There was a glass a drink container, fast food wrappers and napkins all over. Also I was told that the truck had half a tank of gas. It didn't. It had one third of a tank. I have dealt with this location before and had a great experience, this was highly disappointing.Chrystal R.

Schedule for a cargo van at 530pm. Unfortunately was not able to drive off till almost 7pm because the app would not provide code for car keys after payment. Store was closed at 5 so we couldn't go in. Tried to chat on the app but nobody responded. Tried live chat only to be told to call the live assistance and waited almost an hour to get through but the csr hanged up on us and never called back. Luckily when I called again I waited 15 more minutes and a nice lady named Brittany helped me and my husband with access to a key to another cargo van and apologized and compensated me 50 dollars for the mistake and loss of an hour and a half. Hire more staff and provide a better customer experience. There is nothing efficient about the rental process and it takes extraordinarily long to complete a simple rental. The customer areas are junky and rundown, the staff are not engaging and appear to have no desire to make your visit memorable. Sadly there is no competition to inspire U-Haul to be better.Gerry D.
It was under construction and due to a computer problem and Covid we had very long lines and quite a few people were stressed. I overheard that 1 truck wouldn't start and so I hollered ahead that I was returning a truck. They reacted very quickly, rushed me out the door...checked the rig and were very quick to get someone assigned to it and to get going so I think they did the best they could.Cheryl J.
I was called one hour and 11 minutes before my booking pick up time letting me know my truck was no longer available. When I asked why this happened as I had received confirmation of my booking, the lady told me "we were supposed to call you, but no one did". I again asked why, and she replied "that's why I'm calling you now". I was told I could either go to a much further location at the other end of the city, or take a different truck. In the original reservation, I was directed by the website to a location which didn't have trailers (Flying J). The person redirected me to the location above to pick up a trailer. Your website needs to be re-pregramed so that it can identify which locations have what equipment. At the new location, for both check-in and return, the ladies were most helpful and what made it nicer was that they were so cheerful throughout the day, greeting people always. They should be commended whilst working in a location undergoing renovation. The trailer needed maintenance - tailgate chain missing turnbuckle.Lee W.

On our quote it said that it was only $0.79 /KM and we were charged $1.29 KM at check out. We had a medical emergency the day of our rental and could not get the truck back on time and were happy to pay the extra day rental but the mileage was a kick in the teeth. The only comment I have is that when I called for the hours of operation, the call center indicated they would be open until 7PM. I returned the truck at 6PM, only to realize that they closed at 5PM. I tried to call to explain that I would leave the truck at the location and put the key in the return slot. After being on the phone for in excess of 30 minutes, I hung up and tried to log into the U Haul website to explain the situation, but was told that the URL that I tried to access was either not available or incorrectly input. I later (12:30 AM) called and did reach a person at the call center to explain the situation. She said just to call the location in the morning. I did that and finally reached a second lady at the call center and then was able to conclude the rental contract. The last person I talked to handled the final invoice to my satisfaction...Garry S.

There was a huge line up on Sat morning and only one employee handling everything. This resulted in what should have been a 10 minute procedure taking close to an hour. Also, they told me that the trailer I rented needed to be returned by 8:30am the next morning. Imagine my surprise when I arrived only to find that the store didn't open until 9. Luckily I was able to use the online service to drop the trailer off. The trailer worked great. The people and the business operation/organization need A LOT of attention.Ryan N.

Poor truck was very dirty on the outside, oil seemed very dirty when checked. before renting it, could not tell if there were scratches or even dings, I washed it before bringing back, ran out of money at wash or it would have been cleaner, was reimbursed for trying to wash it, which was great. Ladies at this location where fantastic to work with. Other than a very dirty truck on the outside , the rest of the experience was great and I will be renting again from this location when needed.John L.

The ONLY thing that made this rental palettable, was the great service I received from one employee, Kristen. She made it happen when three other locations could not. When other customers blocked the exit, she unhooked my trailer, let me turn around, and hooked it up again so I could get out and on my way. She is the only reason you got my business. I'm buying my own trailer so I hopefully don't have to rent from your company ever again.Robert S.
THE WORST UHAUL EXPERIENCE POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!! My order was changed to a later time without me being informed. Then I got a new booking; went to pick it up after being on hold for 30+ minutes and I had to THEN wait in line for 38 minutes to get my truck. THENâ€¦ they told us there are no dollys. I said I booked them online and they told me it's a request, not a bookingâ€¦ so I left without the dollys, over an HOUR later than we planned to start the move. THENâ€¦ after the move, went to return the uhaul, they told us to throw the keys in the box and leave. So we did and they never checked in the truck! I had to call twice and wait on hold AGAIN to ensure my truck was checked in properly and I wasn't being charged overtime. It's impossible to call a branch directly! Continuously on hold, it's rage inducing. This service was absolutely pathetic!!! I have never been more frustrated with a company in my entire life. You have permanently lost my business and I am telling everyone I know how ridiculous it has been.Michael G.

We originally ordered through the Okotoks location, however due to equipment damage we were asked to pick up from a South Calgary location instead. Stuff happens, so that was fine, however... Most customers were asking and struggling to find the building reception at the Calgary location. No designated customer parking. Half an hour line up, even though we had pre-booked and pre-checked in. I would suggest a separate reception for pre-checked in clients, otherwise there is no benefit in being prepared. After check in we were told to go outside and find a representative to locate the trailer. There was no identification for your representatives - all plain clothed and no visibility. Suggest something to make them stand out. Apart from the that the people there were great and the trailer was fine.Peter M.

Your website was difficult to use when booking and "editing" my reservation. Tried to call in to the location I wanted but repeatedly got booted to the 1-800 number which is clearly based in US or even elsewhere. Therefore, no one would know the details of my Canadian city and couldn't help me. So I "edited" my existing reservation on-line only to learn that my "edits" could not be accommodated and in the meantime your system canceled my original reservation. It was a stressful mess. There was no indication that when I clicked on the "edit your reservation" option on your website that I would actually be cancelling my reservation. That should be made clear on your website or, better yet, have a real live person answer the phone. thank you for offering the option to comment.Aaron S.

Very disorganized. Were supposed to deliver u-boxes but didn't. I did get a truck said I could use it for two days but the trailer for one day only and I would have to transfer from the boxes to the truck on the second day. After I picked-up it turned out that I had the truck for one day and the trailer for two??? Complete mess. Got an email and an angry call about not returning. When i asked about my remaining boxes people at the front had no clue. I had to walk into the warehouse to talk directly to the forklift operator who found them. Personnel were refusing to talk to the warehouse personnel and were trying to keep me from doing it. I'd like to thank Nick who was very helpful and Ahgan and the forklift operators they saved my move. Found the boxes hooked up the trayler and loaded the truck. I will avoid U-Haul in the futureFreddy M.
The tie down rails were not updated, one side was old and only a bumper , no place to tie down like the other side. This made my move very difficult. Next time I will check this before accepting rental contract. If you can not tie down your load , how do you secure it properly when trailer is not full . Pick up service was great, but drop off was like talking to a wall . Waste of time.Lyle D.

The office was not clearly marked, return area not clearly marked. Difficult to maneuver in the parking area. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. The trailer I rented was missing a tail light and one tire was low in pressure. I think some issues are related to this location being under construction. Seemed to have lots of equipment.Greg H.
