I was told on two different occasions someone was too busy to help me. And the truck I rented broke down. It was the worst rental experience and will not ever rent from this location or uhaul again!ivan H.
I had set up a 20' truck with extra miles and insurance. Driver was Noted as Jacob Crosby. I prepaid all to make sure Jacob had no issues. The truck was picked up and I received a copy of documents that had a name on it that was unknown to me. The damage waiver ( paid for) was declined! I called but local above store was â€œ not taking callsâ€ therefore I was directed to corporate. I wanted to assure I had damage waiver and was told it is not in my name, eventually transferred to store as originally intended. Male person answered with an immediate attitude that he didn't have time for phone call. I told him situation and he said it is not in my name so I can not discuss with him. I mentioned payment was made and it was my reservation. He responded that it isn't now and I have no authority to change. I said the person on file is not going to pay for damages if any. Man said he is required to ask if damage was wanted or waived ( already paid didn't matter). I asked how could I be the prepaid contract holder and it be allowed for someone else to take over? He told me I was not listening and repeated it was required to ask about damage waiver. I asked how he would collect if damage? He said with card on file - MINE!) how is that right? Man said I was threatening him? I said No, just asking how this can be on my card but I have no say so? I guess this was threatening and he hung up. Very rude and of course not answering phone or questions. Seemed to play a race card as he didn't care to explain how this could be! So does UHaul allow any person to walk in and take over a contract by showing a license but keep there customer on the hook ( card) to take responsibility for a strangers decisions. I would still like an explanation. Obviously I will not prepay if I ever use your company again.REBEKA S.

There was a change in the pickup location. There was no email to inform me. There was a text that mentioned pre-checkin on the day of rental, and had a different address, but did not indicate it was a change. I was in the process of driving 600 miles to get to the trailer and not reading texts from unknown numbers as I drove. Email would have been more effective. Computer system was down all day at this location, leading to long wait times, and poor interaction with the employees. The truck I rented was clearly not checked before given to me. The floor was dirty, the passenger door didn't close completely, and there was a maintenance warning on the truck dashboard when I started it.Benjamin S.

I have tried twice now in two years to get a moving van from this location. Both times I had trouble, even though I had reservations. The first time I was in line behind another customer who was being back a van that had a flat tire. They said here you can take this one instead. I thought to myself - hope that wasn't mine:.. yep! It was! There was a lot of anxious shuffling behind the desk as they told me my van was no longer available... they said I was out of luck. So I waited until a different vehicle was returned to them and I then took that one. This year I was shocked when I was delayed in getting to the facility (I flew from California to Birmingham, AL. Had to get a ride to Tuscaloosa). They said the 800 number had cancelled my reservation. They said they had nothing else available at all. No other size or anything. They were not kind of helpful and told me it was my fault and I should have called to say I would be late. So I from their parking lot, got on the app, reserved the van I wanted and just used the app to check it out. Also last year I witnessed one of the employees driving with a dumpster suspended in the air. They could not see around the dumpster and promptly drove right into a customer's car. This place needs a review by corporate!!! I have now read the reviews online and I see I am not the only one to have big problems!April O.
Customer service was very unprofessional and unwilling to accommodate the customer. I had difficulty with the mobile app and the representative behind the counter was more interested in making more money than assisting with the usage of the app. Thanks to the young lady seemingly to have just come to work, I was able to complete the rental. I called and they told me they couldn't do anything and to call the corporate number which I did. I made a reservation through the U-Haul app, arrived at my reserved time and designated U-Haul location. The store had my reservation information in the system but also had another customer reserved for the same truck rental. I had to arrive the next morning when there would be an other truck available. My reservation also included an appliance dolly that was also unavailable. Online system is unreliable.Misty C.
I reserved a truck online and selected a pickup location. The reservation and pickup location was confirmed with an email and text. When I arrived to pickup the truck, the location said they were closed and would not help me. I had to call U-Haul to find out the reservation had been moved to an entirely different location without notifying me. That cost me over an hour of lost time. I feel this was poor customer service on the part of U-Haul and the location where my truck was set for pickup. You should end your partnership with Budget Inn location in Northport, AL - they are terrible and make your company look bad.BRIAN C.
We were informed by a store employee to never reserve any equipment online because it'll always say its available when it is not. We drove across town to pick up the truck that we had reserved to find out there was not one and wouldn't be until the next day. We took time off of work to come and get this truck so we could move and to not be able to get it when we reserved it made us not happy at all and we looked at other rental companies because of this experience. Also the employee said that they get cussed out a lot because of the whole reservation thing. Maybe that should be changed to spare the employees a very bad experience with pissed off customers when it is neithers fault. And the last time that we rented a uhail we didn't have to pay per mile either. If that's going to be the case atleast get some decent trucks for customers to drive and not some clapped out truck with 200,000+ miles and terrible qualtiy pictures of the equipment that you have to approve or dispute before renting them out. They gave away the truck size we had rented even though we called and said we were running late. They upgraded us to the next size which was fine but the truck they gave us wasn't cleaned. Told that after making the reservation on-line that there was no truck available. Then told I would have to drive to Bessemer, AL to get a truck. Finally I was called back and told that a truck had mysteriously appeared in Tuscaloosa. The girl who answered at the Tuscaloosa store said it happens all the time. She gets cussed out frequently because there is no truck. Said a reservation is guaranteed but not a truck. When I came to pick up the auto transport the person at the counter was asleep on the counter. I asked for help hooking up the auto transport and loading the car. Took the person 25-30 minutes to come out and help. I was told that I would be charged additional $25 for asking them for help in hooking up.Becky H.
The fuel level information on the contract was incorrect as if the person rounded up to the nearest line. Also, when I arrived with the truck to load, there was food spill and trash in the back of the truck. I had to pour pine-sol down and use some clothing from the storage room to mop up the mess. I disposed of those clothes afterwards. Besides those to discrepancies, my experience was satisfactory.Asia L.

Absolutely horrible first off the reservation process had me go to a location that didn't have the vehicle and it didn't have my information updated in the workers system. I was given a bigger truck that was supposed to be the same price that's turned out not to be true and I only found that out after the final bill came in on my card. The staff at the location was absolutely unprofessional and I stood in line while there were three people behind the counter and only serving One customer. I waited in line for over 20 minutes to just get a spot to have to endure all that I have done said earlier in this comment. Only to have to wait another 45 minutes get got overpaid for truck in the first place. So overall I would never recommend this company or especially this location to any human being. I was late buy 2 hours on my appointment to pick up my items because of all the whole mishap and laziness of staff and in the end I ended up paying way more and I was supposed to. Customer service is a must! Ignoring paying customers is rude and disrespectful. I rent here all the time and this experience by far was the worst. When a paid customer is waiting to be serviced it is unacceptable to walk away from the customer multiple times. Then when they approach the desk inside, you still refuse to help them. The entire time we had the unit, the door was severely damaged that we needed a pry bar to open it. We were promise the door would be replaced but never was. I asked for a discount rate on the unit but my request never was acted on. So with that said my experience was a disaster. My only complaint is that we were charged when it was supposed to be free for a month. After I brought this to the staffs attention it was reimbursed. However, we were locked out of our unit for nonpayment. The problem was corrected by the manager. This complaint is being posted so you know if you have a problem just talk to the staff. I am deeply disappointed and appalled by the treatment and lack of customer service by your staff at the Skyland location. The employee was snippy and very short with me throughout my checkin process and was extremely bothered that she had to show me and my son how to get to the available units so we could see which unit to rent. We had to trample through a repair garage with tools, boxes, fans and crap all over as well as a car the repair guy was working on. It wasn't until the very end of the process, when I was paying for the unit, I had asked for her name, which she hesitated in answering that she decided to be nice. I am in the customer service business and I would never treat a customer the way she treated me and this transaction.
