I had rented the uhaul for a 1 way trip, which was an 14 hr drive and the next day i started getting a lower back skin infection that persisted for several days. i had to go to a clinic to be seen by a doctor. He suggested it came from and unsanitary object that came in contact with my skin. Most likely peoples sweat or other bodily fluids that was most likely the cause of the infection.MICHAEL B.

This location was the third one I was changed to in less than 24 hours and it was 18 miles from my house. I was supposed to pick up a truck at 9am at another location, but the dealer never showed up. After the reservation was changed to this location for 10am pickup, I waited in line here over an hour and half and finally got the truck around 11:30am. As a result of the long distance drive and the late pickup, I went over the allowable miles, which I was charged for, and was not able to fully complete my move in time.Lauren H.
Vehicle was clean but it smelled of smoke and that was unpleasant. I also feel like the price advertised is VERY misleading. 19.99/hr plus mileage - I expected about $50. After all the fees with anticipated mileage, my cost was 70. I understand I signed "the dotted line" acknowledging the gas surcharge but I filled the tank with $17, at ~3.75 gallons. My anticipated mileage was 60. I drove 68. I assume a truck gets about 13 mpg. 13mpg divided my 3.75 gallons = approx 49 miles, leaving me short about 20 miles. I was charged 4 gallons which is more than I should have. I ended up paying 115 for a 2 hour rental. Very Excessive and soured my experience. Driving the truck was fine. Will I use uhaul again? No. My low rating is due to my experience and not the vehicle or location, which is unfortunate for you.Beth K.

Mike was amazing. I thought I had lost my phone and he found it in the cab, saved me a lot of time and money. The guy was rude. His return lane was stacked up. I tried to bring the large truck in line but had to angle it to keep it out of the road. He watched me this whole time. Once I parked he started fussing at me for blocking his other lane. Well maybe you could have directed me buddy??? Just a rude and hateful individual. The representative at the store who helped me was very professional and helpful. I heard her call on the radio for the two follies and blankets that I had reserved. However, when I got to my location, the truck was empty. I had to return to get them. I also did not receive the right sized truck that I reserved. The call was reviewed and I did reserve a 26 ft truck but only received a 20 ft. We had to make multiple trips because of this. I received a $50 credit.allison M.

#1 My U-Haul experience was terrible overall as has been the usual case. I wish there was a competitor to U-haul. I would use them even if it cost twice as much. The representatives at the Dorchester location did do a very good job of resolving the issues. #2 I originally ordered a hitch to be installed at the Lanham location on the Thursday before I left for SC. The hitch was there but whoever took my order over the phone forgot to make sure a technician would be there to install it. I bought the parts and tried to install it myself but I could not get the rusted bolts loose. #3 I had a mechanic the works for my brother in-law in SC install the hitch. It was fairly easy for him and he wired it up as well. #4 When I went to the U-haul to get my trailer from the Ammo Dump location in SC, they hooked my connector to the trailer and said that the turn signals and breaks didn't work. they used a small led device and confirmed that the problem was with the wiring of the hitch. I returned to the mechanic where he checked it out. he couldn't find a problem but reversed the position of the signals thinking that it might have had something to do with the issue. I returned to the Ammo Dump and thought for sure it would work. they connected the LED device with the same result. #5 I took the unit to the Dorchester Rd location and they took time out of their schedule to check it out. They could not find an issue except that the signals were reversed. They were nice enough to rent me a trailer from their location and even gave us a $6 blanket for free because of our troubles. There was never any problem. The problem was the Ammo Dump location. I spent nearly a tank of gas, 3 hours of my time and an hour of the mechanics time because of the issues caused by the dump. They need to be shut down. They do not take very good care of the equipment. I helped the guy move the trailer out of over a foot deep of grass and the wheels did not look in good shape.Patrick D.

I didn't like the app for returns. Wouldn't take picture. Actually the worker said they were having trouble taking pics of driver's license. Then there's a charge for after hour returns but the app gives you trouble. But other than that it was greatsteve C.

I reserved a truck at a different location that was 20 miles farther away. That's was an extra $40 dollars. Also they called me the day I was going to pick it up that they didn't have a truck to give me.. and I made the reservation 3 weeks prior. Then they charged me an extra day because I was an hour and a half late . I will use a different company next time..Chris C.
My truck was given away on Saturday because I was running late - no call to find out if i was still coming. Then booked a smaller truck for the next day - and the office person was 40 minutes late getting to the office - there were 10 people waiting. Your late fee policy is inconsistent unforgiving and unclear my due date on the 27th I've been charged a late fee as soon as the morning before 6 am of the 28th. And received numerous phone calls about payment by the 30th. No text message no reminder emails I kept that storage for five years only after I leave then you thank me for my business? I rented a 10x10x8 unit where the door and latch didn't match up correctly. The round lock I was forced to buy would not work in the lower latch hole so I had use another lock. When I returned a week later I'm locked out. The staff guy refused to unlock the unit so I could unlock my stuff. We finally had to stop all your customers that were waiting so we could force the staff guy to unlock our unit. Upon removing boxes from storage, all stored along the cement wall had mold. The boxes on the floor had water damage. We were on the second floor and unsure how they had water damage. Shelving units - the shelves themselves, also had water damage on the bottom and therefore are no longer useful.
