Unit was 5 feet up making it impossible to move in my heavy toolboxes. Customer service was good about extending my truck rental in order to get a more appropriate unit the next day. The trailer we rented from the Maple Grove location was damaged, the other one that was available was stuck in ice, had not been prepared before our arrival, we ended up spending more that an hour trying to get it to work, with no help, in the freezing cold. They then sent us to another location in Lachine, and we had to try 2 different trailers to have one work properly, but we did have help at the second location.KAREN R.

I had a pick up scheduled at 1:30. I arrived at 1:25. Had to wait almost 50 min to get the keys, the line was so long and employees working very slow. I only left the location around 2:30. Wasted important time on my moving day. Not happy.Oren E.

Fuel tank was not full. Inspection at return was a bit exhausting. All the lights have been checked! Beam, high beam, flasher, brake lights. Are the customers have to pay for a burned bulb? I had booked to return the trailer on Halpern in Ville St-Laurent which was an address offered for return when I booked the trailer. This is a small garage that rents Uhaul but when I arrived they told me they didn't take returns. I ended up having to go to 2 different places before finally going to Lachine where they took the trailer. Pretty frustrated!Lynn D.

I paid late,(2 weeks) definitely my fault, however the system that you have in place is extreme and agressive, borderline harassment. 3 emails, 3 letters to my house and 2 letters to my emergency contact ( which I felt to be a violation of privacy) My storage locker blocked. I went to pay it during my break at work, and when I went back about a week later to get something the lock was still on. I had to go back to the office and ask them to remove it. They had to check the file to ensue I wasn't lying, then I waited 15 minutes for them to come. The guy that came was nice, but was not wearing a face mask. The truck was clean, but in poor condition: it badly needed and alignment (I had to drive 45 degrees to the left to go straight); the doors didn't fully close so the cold air was flowing in; the rear door was very hard to close; the engine shot down while driving at some point; there where hundreds of damage stickers on the truck; since the doors weren't closes right, the light cabin stayed on which made it hard to drive at night; the trucks made a bunch of rattling noises. The online drop off didn't work, but a nice employee left a note on file so I wouldn't get the 20 $ fee for not dropping off online.FELIX-ANTOINE T.

I'm going to explain my experience in a fairly detailed way in order to point out all the incidents that took place on Saturday the 30th of January 2021. My original reservation was supposed to take place at U-Haul 8101 Montreal-Toronto Boulevard. My reservation was to pick up the van at 5:30 pm that day, so due to the curfew that starts at 8:00pm, I called to check if it was possible to move my reservation for earlier in the day so that I can be able to finish the move in one day. I called in between 9:00 and 10:00 am, the nicest woman answered (I remember she mentioned that she was in St-Louis Missouri), checked the schedule and told me it was possible to move it till 12:00 pm same day, which gives me approximately 8 hours before the curfew. I called again to mention that I will be a bit late, so another woman (also very nice) answered and moved my reservation till 12:45. I arrive at the U-Haul Location at 8101 Boul Montreal-Toronto, on a day when it was -26 degrees outside, enter the shop, and 2 mins later a guy tells us (my brother and I) that we have to wait outside because they only allow 4 people inside (although we asked very politely if we can stay inside in a corner behind a storage cabinet away from everyone else, and they refused). After some 15 mins when there 2 clients left, we enter again, and 2 mins later someone tells us that one of us has to step outside because it is 4 families, not 4 clients, and due to the regulations someone should step outside (although I am fairly sure, if the employees are following the provincial guidelines, they won't be allowed to say that). We sucked it up and my brother waited outside until our turn came. I walk up to the person who should give me my â€œguaranteedâ€ reservation and to my surprise that what I reserved didn't exist, he started making up things that an agent tried to reach me and I either have a wrong number or didn't hear my phone. I called him out on his false claims, the. He mentioned that I am allowed for a 50$ refund. (I don't mean that the 50$ was contingent one calling out his creative excuses) Anyway, I tried to control my frustration and tried to see if there's anything free in town that I can take to finish my move on Saturday. He did some calls and found the same Ã©quipement at a nearby location (which is the location that I ended up using) There everything was super smooth, and everyone was very nice. Very easy pick up and drop off. Didn't have to wait in line for anything. All around, great service at 2100 Norman Street. Can't say the same about the 8101 Boul Montreal Toronto. (No client will ever be compensated with 50 dollars if he scheduled his move on a certain day). Thank you, L.Louay T.

The windshield on the truck i rented was covered in snow and ice. Took about a half hour to claw it with my nails. A scraper with each vehicle would be great for the winter months. The actual move in experience was terrible. We had booked and paid in advance and arrived with our movers and they had to wait about 1 full hour while the reception re entered everything into the system, which was so slow, and cost us over $150 in moving costs due to the length of time it took to receive the keys. The person who helped me get the storage unit account setup was quick and efficient and very friendly. I got a very good impression of U-Haul as a company because of this individual's good attitude. This is very refreshing compared to the last storage facility I used (not U-haul) where the staff seemed like they did not care at all and would prefer if people would just leave them alone. We had our belongings in this storage for almost 2 years. All went well until our departure from the unit. When clearing our belongings, unfortunately we discovered some items that were eaten/ruined by mice. Our couch had holes in it from mice and was covered in droppings (it was covered by plastic but they chewed through that as well). The U-Haul staff reassured us right away that we would get reimbursed for this. However, to this day, we have received no response or follow-up on our claim for reimbursement. We will likely have to continue pressing the issue in order to get any resolution, which is very disappointing. We paid over $5K in our time of having our belongings in storage - the least they could do is make sure we receive appropriate compensation for ruining important furniture.julien r. | Overall Experience

Hi , overall was okay. I tried to change the per authorization date. When I called , the agent said to go ask the store. I drive to the store they say we cannot it's impossible. With tax it was suppose to be 120$. Because of the faulty pre auth I paid 135$-150$ mostly. In 2020, I am so baffled that we are not able to change a date : /. But to me it was just a scam to charge more. And that's why my rating is much lower. The representative who we dealt with was very rude, has no idea of what customer service really means. She souldnt be in contact with customers. I told her that I spoke with another person about the one month promotion and she said (in front of other clients waiting in line): "il est nouveau, il sait rien". Really not professional to say that even if I was the only client there. Hello, My main concern with the lack of answers for phone calls from Lachine. They have NEVER picked up the phone, it always went back to central. PLUS, central does not give accurate information. And / or the information does not get relayed to Lachine. I had lost the keys to the storage lock, I called and called to speak to Lachine, once again, they didn't pick up. Central lady said that each location was equipped with the tools to break the lock - which turns out (as I had a team of 3 movers on the clock, just waiting) they did not, and mentioned it was against UHaul policy. I had to call for an emergency service, which cost me $275, for a locksmith to come and break the lock. I am extremely disappointed with UHaul in this regard.magali G. | Overall Experience
The only reason i don't give a 5 stars is because the waiting time to get service is really, really aweful. I waited 45-50 mins in line just to get service even though i and a reservation. I understand doing contracts with people takes time but being understaff in a month like this, i mean it is moving festival now. All i wanted to do is get my moving done. I had rented a storage in Montreal Centre Ville at first, I had made the reservation on site. Then I made a change of date by callin U-Haul. When I went to rent the storage, they said the modification can't be made by phone (?????) and that there was no storage unit that I had reserved, when I had done it on site at first !!! The person didn't try to help me... I had to go to Lachine to find a storage unit. At Lachine, the woman that took my order was very bad at being polite and being professional. I had to let them the keys so they could move the car. They never moved the car and when I went to get back my car the battery was die. I explained the situation to « manager ». Hi there, let me explain my one star review. I have had booked, for 1 April, a storage in an other facility (Cite 2000 Montreal) and no one called me to tell me to come and take possession of the storage unit. I left my credit card info, my phone number and my adress, as requested. With all these infos, I understood that someone From u-haul would call me as soon as they have an available unit. But it appears no one called. When I presented myself to the office, I faced a young man that did not care at all about my case and just repeated like a parrot : we do not have unit left sir, it works like this in u haul. Without even trying to understand my situation, not listening and not proposing any solution. He clearly did not care and is not suit for working in customer service. The one big negative to our experience was the difficulty getting information on how to cancel our contract. I called customer service and was told I had to go to the warehouse. Drove 20 minutes to the warehouse and was told take a picture and come back when the locker is empty. Drove home another 20 minutes. Went back after the locker was empty (20 minute drive) to learn that the account had been closed by one of the employees. In all, 1 hour and 20 minutes of unnecessary driving.
