I showed up after having a reservation for a month and no truck was available in the size I needed. Nobody called me to let me know this. I was then put into another truck that was not what I requested only because someone happened to return it while I was there. Poor customer experience.Jackson F.

About forty years ago I rented my first truck from U-Haul. Not much has changed since then. The truck I rented today, like then ran on regular gas and had no AC. Of course, It was not ninety degrees back then. Back then it was the best deal in town. As a matter of fact, most of the vehicles I rented during my twenty years as an active-duty Marine were from U-Haul. I always had a good experience. If today had been my first rental, it would also be my last. The truck was nasty inside and out. The AC did not work. Someone asked me recently about vehicles with crank windows. I found one. Imagine, you have to get out of the vehicle and walk around the vehicle to roll down the window on the other side (because the AC does not work). I had no idea which side the fuel tank filled from. No arrow on the dash. Get out and walk around. And at check out, we need a secondary contact, in case you don't return the vehicle. That's a new one, but I understand business needs often change. I appreciate the link that invited me to discuss this rental. I did not enjoy having to qualify the request and request another link. That is effectively what the process is. The rear door would not fully close but couldn't be pulled open either yet, I still worried about it. Also, possibly do a tire check and refill tires that are different from the others. Otherwise, I had a wonderful experience. Some reviews I read were very negative but I was very pleased with the entire transaction.Debra M.

tow trailer was not at original pickup location (previous renter decided to not return there in Sandy Springs) so I had to drive to Peachtree location at my cost and time. Reservation was updated but not to correct 1-way drop off location.Robert F.

You are an unbelievably horrible company and I will go out of my way to NOT do business with you again. You promise things you don't have. We rented 60 moving crates (and it said there were 96 in stock when I ordered). We showed up and you only have FOUR. We had rented a van for this purpose only. We then went to a second location that said they had 40 in stock and they had TWO. I was charged for the van rental and miles when I actually did not need the van at all since the sole purpose was to carry crates (of which you had none). Completely unbelievable you would waste someones time like this. I hate UHAUL now and as I said never want to give you my business again. I also will be telling my friend who was moving and who was going to use your crates to use a different company.Nigel B.
I was able to call ahead and make sure that they were able to take a car dolly because multiple locations do NOT, especially the first location I choose. I am glad I called because I needed to change my location on my reservation because it would have been a $230 charge returning to different locationLaura D.

If I could give negative starsâ€¦, I would!! Now that I am reading other reviewsâ€¦, I would have rented from Penske. I typically check reviews before a purchase but have rented from U-haul many times in the past without issue so didn't even think to check reviews. We â€œreservedâ€ 20 foot truck, two furniture dollies, one appliance dolly, one pack of 10 moving blankets. Someone from a different pick up location than requested called and woke me up at 7:45 AM the day before the move to let me know that the pick up location had changed. It was only about 5 miles further away so OK no biggie. When I made the reservation my pick up time was 9 AMâ€¦, so they knew that was when we would be there. I completed the express check in online that morning and arrived st 8:50am so expected to be in out the door with our truck and rental equipment and back home well in time for the movers scheduled which were to be there at 10 AM. When we arrived at the pick up location we found a line of people and only one person working. Didn't get her name but saw on her shift she was the â€œGeneral Managerâ€. When it was our turn at the counterâ€¦., after observing her poor treatment of the people in front of usâ€¦., she matter-of-factly told us that she did not have the furniture dollies or the appliance dolly. We of course questioned why they would not be available since we â€œreservedâ€ them and had a scheduled pick up time of 9 AMâ€¦, to which she replied that any equipment is first come first serve, offered no apology, empathy or solutions. I don't see anywhere online or on our reservation that equipment is first come first serveâ€¦, which would certainly negate the purpose of a â€œreservation â€œ!! We asked for the phone numbers for nearby locations so we could call to find dollies. She flipped around a clipboard with a laminated sheet that showed the phone numbers of 3 nearby locations. One of the phone numbers was incorrect. I informed her that one of the numbers was wrong but there was no response from her. We were unable to even get through to anyone at these locations and held so long for one of the locations that our call was somehow transferred to the 800 number call center for U-Haul. The lady I spoke with there told me that a nearby location had four furniture dollies. I asked if she could somehow reserve two of them for us so they wouldn't be gone by the time we got there. She said she was unable to communicate with the location/reserve themâ€¦, so we rushed over there as quickly as we could. When we got there the only dollies they had were for purchase not for rent. We had to purchase two furniture dollies otherwise there was no way we could move. We then rushed home to meet the movers who were waiting for us when we got there. We figured out once we got into the moving process that the pack of moving blanketsâ€¦., that the general manager had a fellow customer go grab for us and came in a ripped up plastic wrap/bagâ€¦., only contained 4 blankets. Then after loading the truck/on our way out of town we were going to turn into a gas station and my husband put his foot on the break and the brakes didn't work! Luckily we weren't in a situation where this caused an accident but it very well could have! Turns out the truck was not cleaned out properly and there was a Gatorade bottle that rolled under the brake pedal! We had gone down and then up a hill just prior to the gas station so the bottle must have rolled out from wherever it was and lodged itself under the brake pedal! Soâ€¦, while he was driving and unable to stop he had to get his arm/hand down under the brake pedal to figure out what was going on and remove the Gatorade bottleâ€¦., hoping he wasn't going to get in an accident!!! In addition, the cab smelled awful. It was heavily deodorized and the smell of that was very pungent/unpleasantâ€¦, but you could still smell cigarette smoke underneath all that; just what you want to smell for a 2+ hour drive on a moving day in 90 degree heat! Based on all the other reviews and our personal experience it is evident that the company does not care. By far the worst customer service experience we have had in a long time and could have had a serious accident due to u-hauls negligence. Oh and one of the dollies we purchased from the other location was defective! One of the wheels came loose and all the ball bearings came out and rolled down the ramp of the truckâ€¦, so another opportunity for an accident!Patrick P.

The first vehicle I got in was dirty with garbage in it and had a light on to check the tire maintenance system. In the second vehicle, the back door was not signaling that it latched even though it did and the rear drivers side tire was very low on air. I ended up adding air on my own as this was the last available van and other people had already been turned away this day and I needed to ensure I had a vehicle.Alicia V.
The manager and the gentleman helping her were fantastic. They handled a frustrated customer (that didn't have a reservation) with amazing professionalism and patience. Make sure you have the trucks at the locations. I made a reservation online because I was told that there was a truck there waiting for me. There was not. The system of overbooking customers for trucks is the most repulsive business practice I've seen in a while and reeks of a money-hungry corporate culture. I got a truck out of sheer luck and immense pressure on the employee working. You've lost me as a customer. Best of luck!Callen C.

Tiwanni, General Manager, runs a tight ship that is well navigated with attentive customer service. Tiwanni and her staff went above and beyond to accommodate my changing needs, plus extended my van/equipment usage easily with just a phone call. Checkout was even faster as her system is setup to help the customer keep close, convenient and easy tabs on what's going on in their account as they progress through the rental process. Lastly and most importantly is that Tiwanni and her staff are always eager to serve and they greet each customer with a genuine and friendly smile. Thanks Tiwanni, you and your staff tremendously helped me and my family to successfully relocate with ease and a . Person working at the counter said they wouldn't take my Visa credit card which is a major credit card. She said I had to call the Uhaul customer support. After doing this, I had to keep the customer support person on speaker phone to talk to the person behind the desk. There needs to be clear communication about what is accepted for payment. I spent an hour outside waiting on the phone in 85 weather when I shouldn't have had to. There is definitely a breakdown in communication somewhere where it looks like a simple talk could solve this for next customer.Gregory P.

Our truck was dirty and had garbage in it. The gas tank was on empty and we could even make it home without stopping at a gas station. We were charged twice for the truck and paid $80 instead of $35 and customer service hasn't gotten back to us about it yet. Overall a pretty poor experience, unfortunately.Andrew F.

One of the representatives was very rude and not helpful at all. Even though I booked the mobile pickup/dropoff for 24/7 return, she told me that I would have to keep the truck over night since I returned it at 5:05 and the store was closed. My reservation ended at 5:30. I told her I had the mobile order and only after asking multiple questions did she finally say that I could do the mobile drop off, even though she had previously stated that this location did not offer it. Also - The side mirror of the first truck I got in was only halfway attached and falling off. In the second truck I got, a service light came on for tire monitoring. U-haul as a company is great, but this location needs a lot of work.Julia P.

Just get new employees. I was turned away for a truck I had reserved due to double booking - even though I received prompts to pick up the keys from the desk. She refused to give them to me - which I understand may be out of her hands - and then she ended up calling 911 on other disgruntled customers and lied to the police about what happened, saying she felt "threatened" by customers simply asking to speak with her manager. She wasted the police's time, wasted our time, and was extremely rude to my family and other customers. This was by far the WORST customer service experience I've ever had.Randall C.

Be accurate about your services. You charged me for insurance I didn't ask for, you charged me for 2 days when I had the truck for a few hours, you charged me for gas when I filled the gas up to where told me to before I dropped it off!Donnell G.

I tired to reserve 2 days in person but the attendant couldn't figure out how to do it, but said he would fix it after i left. He set it for next day. Then I checked the next day but no longer valid. Totally helpless and it would have been much easier to install a kiosk and let me do the entire transaction myself. This experience was about as bad as it could get.Rory S.
The only problem I experienced was the Address for the Pickup Store in the text message from Uhaul didn't have a Zip Code in the address. When I clicked the address it went to different location in NE Atlanta that is 4 miles away. I drove to that location before realizing it was the wrong zip code. Please add the Zip Code to the text messages so the correct location is found. GraciasRobert A.

We had pre-paid knowing we might be late and the manager kept saying we were lucky that he hadn't given the truck to someone else, in spite of the fact that we had pre-paid. The truck had a considerable amount of damage -- a long crease on one side, a deep dent on the other, and what looked like the result of someone repeatedly smashing the backside with a ballpeen hammer. Yet the check-in app noted none of these flaws and I had to upload photographs and contest the condition of the truck. Moreover, there was an 1/8 less gas than reported. There was no issue when I returned it, perhaps because I had already identified the damage; the fuel level was not updated from my photo but I wasn't charged for having less gas than the record said.. The location is clean and well-stocked with boxes and tape and the like, and the truck already had our ordered furniture pads in it.Kristin M.

The biggest concern is that the appointment was made online for mobile check in at 7 AM and the car was not ready for pick up. Apparently, the site is never open at 7 AM on Sundays for mobile pick up and they shouldn't have been offered as an option online. This lack of coordination delayed our plans by two hours which was very important to us Since we were meeting people in South Carolina to coordinate pick up. Bottom line is one hand doesn't know what the other hand is doing which is unacceptable.Jeff S.

Van had multiple dents in its exterior that were not visible on the photo survey when I picked it up. Tire warning light said "right front tire pressure low" and attendant said to ignore it. There was an error the way my transaction was finally paid. I was told a manager would call me to help resolve the issue but I never heard back from anyone.... To me that indicates that they don't care enough about their customers to do a simple follow up... I have more use for U-Haul's services but because of my recent experience I will be taking my moving/transportation business somewhere else ...Ramon A.

The ladies here at this location we're awesome! I was so surprised that they were open on Easter Sunday too. They told me where to park and unhooked the trailer for me. Bought a ratchet strap but it was too short and borrowed one from a neighbor. Other than that, everything was nice.liz K.
The seat cushion was in bad condition with a very sharp spring that protrudes out where your leg would rest so you have to sit sideways. Worse of all, they "accidentally" charged me a $60 fee for not filling up the gas tank upon return. Watch yourself with these folks and document everything with photos.Ashish K.
