This is first time I've rented a storage unit and did so from U-Haul because when I reserved the truck on line I was happy to see storage facility existed in Greensboro and the first month would be free due to renting a truck. I reserved this mid April I believe, and on 4/20 when I was uploading info for truck rental, it was suggested I go ahead and pre-register or such for the storage unit. In doing so, I could skip the check in desk, and go right to my unit and a free lock would be included. I did this and still kept move in reservation for 4/25. When I arrived in Greensboro on 4/25 I discovered the unit was too small and Erin upgraded me to larger unit. She told me it was all good, I owed nothing and the first month would be free. Erin was very nice by the way. I moved my stuff in on 4/25 - I was not in Greensboro prior to this. Towards end of the week I got email stating I owed late fees. I stopped by UHaul on Saturday 5/1 and Erin said the computer system was down and another woman explained it was all good and they'd fix it for me when system was back up. That night I got voicemail saying system never came back up, check back tomorrow. Sunday 5/2 I went by again, I believe Eric as the guys name. He looked at my file in computer and saw what was going on and said it would be fixed, but it'd have to be done by a manager and he was leaving a note for the Monday manager to fix it. I started new job 5/3 and forgot to follow through. Today 5/4, I received a call from Jazmine explaining I needed to pay my balance. She got very hostile and loud with me and stated I actually rented the original unit on 4/20 and it didn't matter when I moved in. She said I was given a credit for switching to larger unit, but I still owed for the weeks I had other unit. I told her I only preregistered on 4/20 didn't actually take possession of the unit. She was not understanding, and got louder with me and said I had to pay. I told her I'd come by after work. I did stop by after work and was again told by Jazmine that I owed 53.95 - yet she could not fully explain to me why, even if I did actually rent the unit on 4/20, it hadn't been a month since then, plus the system shows my reservation was for 4/25. Jazmine became very loud like she did on the phone, but still could not explain it to me. I asked her to please not yell at me to which she replied she had been up and down the hill several time and had unloaded three trucks... non of that had to do with me. I believe she was frustrated because she could neither explain this charge to me nor convince me to just pay it. Because I'm in a temp rental for a bit longer, just started new job yesterday, I don't have the time to move my stuff out. I did pay the 53.95, but will be researching other storage facilities and will most likely be moving my stuff out before the next billing cycle. I did not receive my free month nor the lock I was to get for pre-registering for the unit online. Will not recommend u-haul storage to others. The whole thing really has the look/feel of a bait/switch.

Have more employees, have personnel able to get and understand payment issues. I had extensions due to circumstances beyond my control and I feel that I was overcharged because the personnell did not have 'knowledge of how to check out my circumstances.

Trailer lights on the reserved auto transport trailer inoperable upon arrival to pick up equipment. U-Haul location only had two (2) auto transport trailers and the second trailer did not have a license plate. I was rented the trailer without a license plate. U-Haul employees attempted three times to correct the rental paperwork, but the rental system would not allow the appropriate changes. Notes were added to rental agreement to explain the renatl equipment situation. Overall it was a good trip. The U-Haul employees were courteous and helpful at the pick-up and drop off locations and there were no issues with rental equipment from point A to point to point B. My recommendation would be to ensure rental equipment is serviceable on the day the of reservation before customer arrives to pick up equipment.

I went to this location 3 days prior to my rental need. I had a vehicle inspection for towing and was helped by the staff on what towing equipment to purchase. Problem began when I arrived on Friday morning for my reservation and was told to go to a different location....my reservation pick up location had changed. Annoyed, but went to new location. That location did not have the equipment we ordered. That vendor was very nice and called the original location. They had the trailer. We wasted 45 minutes due to faulty algorithms. Fortunately, I had the second location call the original location to make sure the equipment was available before we drove all over Greensboro looking for a trailer. Don't do this again.

My reservation was at one place and the truck was available at another place, which was less convenient. I hate it when I am told that I do have a truck reserved at place X, and later I am told to go pick it up at place Y, which is out of the way and I am charged by the mile and I pay for gas.

they should inform you if not returned on time that you will be charged for another day. I was busy moving and did return it 3 hours later than I expected. When I received the notice that they were trying to reach me it was right at closing and I called at 7:05 and no answer. I di return the truck that same day, but it was not signed in until 7am the next day, which seemed as though I had it over night. I was NOT TOLD THAT upfront. Tried to dispute the extra day charge and was denied. I was not pleased with that.
