This location had pros and cons for us. They were amenable to us moving our rental period down by one hour when we were stuck in traffic before pick up. However, we did not receive the appliance dolly that we paid for. We did not realize this until we had already arrived at our new place and had to move heavy items upstairs without a dolly. In addition, this location did not have a box buy-back program. So ultimately, we lost money for the dolly and now have the inconvenience of having to hold onto large extra boxes until we find a new U-Haul center to drop them at. Given how expensive moving is, and the cost of gasoline, these costs add up and can be frustrating.Matthew B.

I ordered a 20 foot vehicle a week in advance. When I got there, they told me they didn't have a 20 foot vehicle available and I needed to go to West Seattle. The lady behind the counter explained to me that they were supposed to have their 20 foot vehicle back days ago, but the previous renter had not returned it. It left me wondering: why was I not called ahead of time then and told they didn't have my vehicle? I could've made arrangements, but apparently nobody at this office gives a shit. I had moving help arriving within the hour, so I asked for a 15 foot vehicle. It took them 30 minutes to change the order and I had to pay my moving crew and extra $100 overtime because I was late getting back to the house. I don't support U-Haul because they're an amazing companyâ€¦I keep being a customer because I unfortunately have no other options. Despite reserving online and doing all the online paperwork required beforehand, it still took me over an hour to check in and pick up my truck. First, when I arrived there was only one person working the desk, even though there were 16 people in line and 3 computers. This was NOT a surpriseâ€¦everyone else in line had made reservations online as wellâ€¦so they knew beforehand. Second, the express check in was not working either on the app or on the mobile website. I would have LOVED to go straight to the truck, check in, and drive off (just like I do at National, Budget, and Hertz). But noâ€¦U-Haul isn't that sophisticated yet. Third, when I contacted live chat through the app to tell them about the app & website not working, they didn't offer to help at all or even apologize, all the associate (Vickie) said to me was â€œwait in line.â€ When I attempted to tell her about the problems on the app, she didn't offer to tell the IT team or offer to manually check me in, since the app wasn't working. The manager at you Rainier location Jon was terrible. I would categorize him in the awful miserable human category. A person that is just trying to make other people's life harder by being incredible rude, condescending and sexist. I will be calling in in the next couple days to talk to somebody and make a more formal complaint. The general manager for the Uhaul of Rainier Valley is a good guy he's got an entire brand new staff and is trying his best to help fix this location to bring it back to the standards that are required. I have a lot of respect for the manager as it would take a lot of trust and patience to train an entire brand new staff. He has dedication to his customers and works more hours in one week at this job than most people would work working 2 jobs. Continue the fight so that you can earn the right to be able to have a normal work life and life at home. You are a U-Haul hero and I can't wait to see what you will accomplish during your time at this store. Seattle is such a hostile area and the malicious intent of people stealing things off the lot and damaging equipment is higher now than it ever has been before so props to you sir for working with you have available to you to address that situation. The new employee who was working with me on my trailer hook up was rude as fuck and when he showed one of the new girls how to hook up a trailer he did not show her or do it correctly. You have to push back on the trailer to ensure that you're tightening a hand wheel all the way and the next time I ask for chains I shouldn't have to go to the GM to make the situation right. With regards to that older employee who has not been working for uhaul for very long, do not tell me I'm "being presumptuous" and clap your hands at me to get my attention interrupting me when try to explain why my van is parked by the trailer that I am going to hook up to as a customer, I know you deal with people that are like animals but that doesn't mean you have to be a shit head walking around like you own the place. You probably haven't even been at that job for 3 months. What you say as an employee reflects on the entire company when you clock in you leave your personal issues with you at the door. One thing that I think would really help educate the employees and get more positive reviews for this location would be to check the tire pressure on trailers between every check in at the return lane especially one way equipment. The number one cause of tires needing to be replaced is because this simple thing is not being done most of the time. We have to be harder on educating the employees of centers because they are our eyes and ears of the company and have job responsibilities that make them liable and responsible for ensuring that equipment is clean and safe to rent.Christopher D.

Not only did I purchase a dolly and NEVER RECEIVED ONE In my truck. I called back and spoke to someone who said they would remove it from my contract but that never happened. On top of that you guys charged me an after hours usage fee. I SPECIFICALLY asked what is the procedure if I needed to use my truck longer. The woman I talked to said that as long as I had the truck back by 7am I wouldn't be charged extra and I brought it back before the stated time. I was STILL charged extra. Not to mention the ridiculous taxes that this place ads on. I want my money back from the equipment charges I never even got the equipment and the after hours usage fee. I'm not going to pay extra money when I was told that I had to bring it back before 7am y'all need to take that fee out your employees paycheck. When I returned the van I accidentally left an important item in the van that I needed to build my bed. I called this uhaul office multiple times to see if they could check the van for the missing item. I was told that the â€œmanager looked for the item and didn't find itâ€, but the fourth time I called the item was actually in the van. They lied to me because they didn't want to take the time to look for the item and there was a lot of attitude on the phone. Very excellent service from Miguel, Jerome, and a younger lady I talked with a bit at the Ranier U-Haul location in Seattle. My dad had just passed away recently and he had been in a wheelchair for the past 25 years and due to these circumstances I had a lot going on and Jerome said he would work with me. He got me moved into a few storage units and also worked with me on the late fees for my U-Haul as he said he understood where I was coming from with my Dad passing away.
