I would rate this location ZERO stars if I could. I have been using U-Haul all over the PNW, including Alaska, for 25 years and have NEVER had an experience as horrible as this! This was my first and last time at this location. The ordeal started with the desk rep ignoring me for ten minutes while he discussed with another customer what are in his own words "very strong views" about being in support of cops killing criminals, "one less out there in the streets". When I finally realized the rep wasn't helping the guy or anyone I else, I had to butt into their conversation to get service. He did not provide me with some very pertinent information such as the need to access a pre-trip link via text before leaving the lot, or that there were special circumstances around an after-hours return. When I did my after hours return uhaul.com did not show that I actually had a rental at all, so I couldn't follow the proper return process. After waiting on hold with customer service for what felt like forever, and never getting through to anyone, I dropped the key in the dropbox anyway and figured they would contact me if there were any problems. The next morning someone at the location called me, leaving a voicemail, saying they need to know what I did with the key, as the van was rented for 9am. and they can't send it out (because they don't have a spare?) and if I don't produce the key, i will be charged several fees that would total over $200. I called them back and unknowingly was routed to an answering service where I had to wait on hold for what seemed like forever (AGAIN), for them to tell me they would have the location call me back. The location called me back and I tried to reason with them on the phone that I in fact dropped the key in the box at 7:30 PM. The man just repeated over and over to me "you need to figure out what you did with the key" until he said he couldn't deal with me on the phone anymore because he has 14 customers in line. It took a trip to the office and an extensive wait behind 9 people in line just to convince them to look at the cameras.They said they were too busy to deal with it right now and sent me away. They never got back with me as they said they would, so I followed up at the end of day. They told me "someone" found the key "somewhere" outside, with no other explanation or apology of any kind. To add to the experience, every single interaction (in-person or on the phone) included problems with their technology; the touch pad/cc machine wouldn't reboot, the computer was frozen, the keyboard quit typing, and even my receipt wouldn't email to me. I went through all of this to haul a free couch 3.5 miles.To top it off, when I went to plead for them not to charge me $200, the guy ahead of me was getting told 'sorry' because they called him the day before letting him know his truck would be ready today that he was driving to Texas, but overnight they 'lost' it. Been in this facility a couple times and team was always friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that I went back there with 1 of the trucks I rented because it had a burned out headlight. They said they could not help that I'd have to go buy and change the light myself.

This location was outstanding and has always been for the 20 years that I've gone to this location. They took an otherwise horrific customer experience with U Haul and made it a positive. A very special thank you to Cody Reid who was extremely understanding and attentive to customer service. I had reserved a 26' truck which did not return on time so I was offered a 20' by your customer service center. This doubled my mileage and hours needed for the movers I hired. They were non apologetic and almost rude and eventually hung up on me when I asked for a supervisor. I called back and was again treated poorly but promised a call back from their supervisor. I never received a call. All I wanted was a credit for the miles and some sort of compassion for the situation I found myself in by no fault of my own. I was furious with the lack of care from your customer service call center and if not for Cody, I would have never returned to UHaul for service again.

This entire rental was screwed up from the start. We were quoted a price online that was then changed upon renting and then added to when dropping off. I ended up paying the same price had I had hired movers. Would definitely not rent a truck again. We should have paid $240 which we were quoted but ended up paying almost double. Pro tip don't trust anything you are told from one of their agents.

Uhaul is usually a great company but this time I had to move during Covid and Uhaul (all the staff) we exceptional this time. Not sure if it was the same guy that I brought the truck back to but if not they were both so very kind and helpful. Gave me a discount if I bought the truck back there and also forgave the ab out 20 miles in gas I didnt fill up. So I hats off to your crew and the company. I was above and beyond satisfied and I will always recommend and If I need to use Uhaul. Keep up the good work.

When I was done and went into the office to return the key and check-out, no one was in the office. I waited about 5 minutes and more customers came in and waited, too. Finally someone showed up (short staffed?). Also, the employee who handles storage rental calls was next to the employee who was helping me to pick up my rental, and she spoke loudly on the phone which made it difficult to hear the guy helping me rent. A very poor set up. And U-Haul needs to be upfront with the Rental Tax! I was surprised when I got my bill. Sorry, but next time I need to rent I'll explore other options.

Less wait time for us old-timers who use the phone. Luckily, it was when I was done moving, but the rear door jammed open just as I was returning the truck, and I was on hold for the whole drive. Someone answered just as I was pulling in to the location--almost a half hour.

The sign in the parking lot says to wait there for your return to be processed. The employee inside the store was not busy with another customer and could have come out to process my return, but I had to go inside the store to track him down.

There's never any mention of taxes when picking up the truck. It's not like I can blame you for having to charge this tax, but it would be nice to know ahead of time. The staff was not wearing face coverings in a County where they are required. The truck stunk of cigarettes. When I pointed this out upon returning the truck the guy just said, “yeah unfortunately people break the rules sometimes even when there's no smoking stickers.” Two things about that; 1) If a truck is returned smelling of cigarettes, the renter should be charged to have the vehicle cleaned with ozone to completely remove the smell. 2) The truck had zero no smoking signs in it. Being around cigarette smoke makes me nauseous, and the smell was bad enough that after being in the cab for 10 minutes I did start to feel uncomfortable. I can only imagine how someone who is actually allergic would react.

The staff member that helped me, Ben, at this Gresham location was not very pleasant. He was not wearing a mask inside or out of the store. I asked if he would put one on because I am a cancer survivor and have a newborn baby. He did not respond to me and just kept walking away. Outside I said “ excuse me” four times trying to get his attention, he looked at me the fourth “excuse me” and said “sure” but he still did not put any sort of face covering on. Not only did I feel this was just rude and ignorant of him but in the state correctly it's law to wear a face covering. I hope someone in his Management team mentions this to him. Also of note, every other U-Haul employee I saw all had some type of face covering on.

Fix your 24/7 after hours check-in app. I was forced to pay the 20 dollar processing fee because the App failed to complete my check in correctly and error me out. I want that money back when I spent 30 minutes trying to accomplish the self-service check in app 3 times and it failing 3 times. Then being told by your customer service rep I basically had no options but to pay that was ridiculous. I was not going to show up at a spot the next day when I was obliviously done with the truck and I did exactly what they wanted for after hours return. Terrible service and it will be the last time I use u-haul.

I rented the space in the morning and returned with a small utility trailer full of belongings. The outside doors to the indoor storage spaces were open and unlocked, not secure. The space I rented was not the size advertised. Supposed to be 5’x10’ and was actually 3.5’x10’ with a raised area across the 10’ width of half of the total space of the floor looking like a bench, which greatly minimized the floor space. In addition, when we opened the door to the space, a large piece of ceiling sheetrock fell down from the ceiling, barely missing my head. Again, a large open space in the ceiling, not secure. Not acceptable. Also, there were steep stairs to the second floor, no elevator, which was very inconvenient. There were no other units available so we ended up taking our trailer full of stuff to Public Storage facility. Luckily we found a space at the last minute and we were able to move our load into that space that evening. The staff are all great and manager Cody is wonderful. He really helped me with an early appointment to have a hitch installed on my Highlander. And, I rented the storage, with the first month free. I appreciate everything they did to help and they were super busy but took the time to fully assist all their customers. Our area is under various levels of evacuation orders due to wildfires and we are all trying to safeguard at least some of our precious belongings. Cody and the staff are working extra hard to help people and I don’t think that the condition of their storage adequately reflects their good works. The storage facility seems to be in poor condition and needs renovation including an elevator so that it meets ADA building standards for public access.

We had a 400 mile move to make, equipment was selected online with no problem, felt comfortable selecting insurance and roadside assistance a sit was very affordable. The equipment performed perfectly and was a good ride and fun to drive. The assistance at the distant end was amazing considering it was a Saturday and everyone was checking equipment in and out. I got a storage unit that was perfect for was we needed, however, the access is limited to daytime hours as the door was not set up for the card access. I haven't used u-Haul in a few years but distinctly feel there is grand improvement in personnel, equipment and service.

The facility is super clean and well maintained. Most of the staff are helpful and work so hard. The reason they wouldn't get 5 stars is because the reservation system is not functional. I reserved one large and one medium unit a month before or 1000 mile cross border move. When I called to verify a week before the move, they had no record of my reservation even though I had been given a number. So I reserved again and to my dismay we were contacted during the 40 hour trip to say thre was no large unit. Both times I was left to feel I had done something wrong, though I had talked to multiple people and left a credit card number. We had to reschedule our movers and fortunately we had been given extra days in Canada on our 26' truck. We found storage at another facility in the city and unloaded three days after the original plan.

I'd like to commend the managers and staff at this U-Haul location for the way they've responded during this Covid-19 pandemic. They've been gentle and understanding to those of us that have lost our sources of income and are unable to pay our storage dues. I stayed in contact and gave them updates on my situation and each time my news was met with kindness. Mentally & emotionally this has been a rough time for soooo many reasons but I appreciate the U-haul staff for making it a little less stressful.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Negatives were I had several things stolen from my indoor unit. Several fishing poles and a clam gun. Total was about $600. A gap exists in adjacent units where the rollup door is at the front of the unit. The stolen items were all in reach to steal. Filing a complaint with corporate was denied. No camera existed on the isle my storage unit was. Very disappointed and lost some sentimental expensive items.

Driveway congestion was a problem several times. Upset to learn that my renters insurance covered any storage unit after having to pay your policy. Exit month should be prorated.
