JAMIE B.The facility looked nice but was understaffed. It took nearly an hour to get the truck even though it had been reserved. I was told the truck's gas tank would be 75 percent full and I should return it the same way. The tank was so empty I had to go straight to the nearest gas station to get gas. The truck had such a strong odor of cigarettes that I had to lower the window. It was not clean or well maintained.

Though obviously shorthanded, he insured every customer was taken care of promptly, offering bottled water for the inconvenience.and ensuring everyone he would have them taken care of promptly. We appreciate all he did to make an obviously bad situation better for his clients.

Amos M.The one thing that I noticed that could be improved is the care and thought for the customer. I rented a truck and initially only needed it for a few hours. Then life happened and I end up needing the truck longer. I received a call from the rep because I had surpassed my initial two hours request by about forty five minutes to an hour. I brought the truck back within fifteen minutes after the call. I rent from U-Haul a lot and when ever a real life situation has happened the reps would call me and ask did I need the truck longer and everything would be fine. This time I was told I would have to pay another rental fee to keep the truck longer and I never had to do that in all my year's renting from U-Haul. So for that I will have to chose another location to rent and recommend.

Dale D.The brakes and tires on the van were both trashed. I was a little concerned driving it in the rain storm because of the tires being so poor. On a positive note, the woman who helped me get checked in was very kind, friendly and completely competent in her work!
Patricia C.We were late, but called ahead to let them know; so I understand a little bit of crossness for that, but we were still well ahead of closing time. Wasn't acknowledged by any UHaul Employee for a while upon arrival, then a lot of guff about being late. When we called ahead we asked about hitch availability, they said yes they had what we needed, but failed to mention it was about $80 in 4 separate parts/adapters. Guy who put the trailer on my car did not tighten the hitch screw, so about a block away the trailer popped off, drug by the chains, and then the hitch went under my car puncturing the bumper. Thankfully we were not on the highway, but it was terrifying nonetheless. Had we not been on a deadline to pick up our son's stuff from college, we would have gone back and complained. Went here because of the convenient location, but probably won't go back.
Amy S.The customer service agents were fine, just doing their job. The communication system is terrible - bad automated emails, no emails or alerts or calls to tell you the boxes were not ready. There was more grief in this than needed to be and a surprise charge at the end. Wouldn't recommend the headache. The boxes themselves were great though and helped me move without wasting cardboard boxes.
Anthony D.The personnel were very helpful, however the location itself is very cramped and confusing. This is especially true if you are towing an auto-transport through those tight corners the facility has. Furthermore, the directions themselves as to how you are supposed to drop off your vehicle are confusing. Upon driving up to the building there is a sign pointing to the inside, indicating that this is the drop off location for equipment. Naturally I followed the directions. After struggling for several minutes to get my auto-transport around a tight corner, I was informed by a helpful employee that I just need to drop it off on the side of the building and that he would handle the rest from there. This information would be helpful to know for future customers instead of having them potentially struggle for no reason. I would recommend making the directions more clear for this drop off location or provide a note through email on how to properly drop off equipment. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend this location to friends due to the hassle.
Benjamin L.Location opened 45 minutes late and the trailer I was assigned was damaged. Eventually they found one for me to use, but did not change the number on the order. It took 45 minutes for the return in Des Moines. $206 is too much for the service I got.

Micheal W.Charged me extra 1 day after bringing it back 2 hours late, I was never told there was a time to bring it back, and to charge me $40 for an extra day...I used uhaul probably 10 time in the last 5 years spending well over $5,000...I will NOT be using them Ever Again!!
David B.It took over 45 minutes (with only one person in front of me) to get my contract and get out the door with the cargo van. Because: Once I got to the counter, it took forever to get my cargo van rental contract signed and printed. Then, once they did print it, it was wrong. It did not include the Damage Waiver that I decided to pay an additional $10 for. Then, once they got that coverage put on, they could not print me a revised contract that proved that I would have the coverage. I had to take a pic of their computer screen(!). Then, once I was finally about to leave - I discovered that the van had only 3/4 tank of gas, instead of the 7/8 tank of gas that the contract said it had in it. So there was another delay and issue to deal with before I could leave with the van.
MICHAEL Q.The only reason I wouldn't recommend the downtown STL location is .... well... it's downtown STL. Otherwise the place is super clean, the guy who checked me in was great. 2 thumbs up for this experience.

Jerome P.While I had intended on arriving before they opened and doing self check in I was late and somehow messed the whole process up not being able to do self check out etc. Luckily, an employee was there at the time and helped me immediately without hesitation or any hint of annoyance( which I would have understood considering again the location was not yet open and he was busy with pre opening tasks). He was incredibly helpful, kind and went above and beyond to help a clueless girl back up a large truck etc. I am so grateful my mistake was able to be fixed and I was able to carry on with my move with ease. I had never been to this Uhaul location but was very impressed with the cleanliness, the trucks and supplies readily available and the awesome staff. I wish I had asked his name so I could praise his hard work properly but to the man who worked at the downtown stl location on 4/16 in the early morning hours thank you thank you thank you! Moving sucks and it was a relief to have at least one part of the moving process go so smoothly.

micheal W.After returning the rental on the evening of April 6, 2023, I received a call from the drop off location the following evening stating that I was late returning the rental. I informed the woman that called that the rental was returned the previous evening, which she disputed several times. After speaking with her for several more minutes she agreed to go look again at her inventory to see if U-Haul was mistaken, she claimed that she would call me back with the results of this search, never happened. I guess they found it, I don't really know at this point. Maybe she was embarrassed to call back and admit that, not sure, however I am guessing that if the rental was not found I would have received a call. WHO KNOWS!!!
David U.Location inside building was a bit tight for maneuvering with my truck. Bringing equipment to an outside location for hook-up would be easier for the customer.

Jessica W. | Overall ExperienceExcited to be using this uhaul but a little upset with my experience trying to get into the building/my unit last night though. :-( I had the bed of my truck full of my daughter's things and it was raining like crazy off and on cold nasty weather so I really needed to get her stuff inside so it didn't hey ruined but unfortunately was never able to actually get into the building. Someone had said they closed at 8pm and I I distinctly remember chosing this place bc their storage access hours were supposed to be until 10pm. Wondering why this was not mentioned to me during the actual renting process.

Kiko S.Customer service was really bad… When I picked up the truck this guy was directing us and giving us all these commands because the truck we reserved was behind some other trucks. Really patronizing. He mumbled so much we couldn't even understand as well. When we came back to drop our truck off these 2 associates were in the back having a blast and laughing it up. They were nice but we had to yell “excuse me†to get someone to come out. Won't be going back to this location and might not use u-haul again because it's always unprofessional - even if I'm using an authorized location.

Now I have to wait another week to get a refund back I should have already recieved because the manager at this location didnt process my refund, until friday when we talked on monday. Noone told me I had to check out from the storage unit on my end to officially process the return. But all I got from the manager is no receipt, he just said you will be getting a refund. No confirmation email until I called on friday, which is when i was informed the refund was just processed that morning. Also had to pay for my truck rental twice, because even though the first month was supposed to be free, after the fact I found out I actually was charged. Would not recommend

Was told to move car in two occasions only to see another park where I was and not get asked to move. Place was filthy, for example trash was in some spots for weeks. Pulling into the garage was just as crap because the sensors on the entry door never worked. Instead you had to park your car in front of the door, walk down the way, badge in, walk inside, open the garage door, pull in, then park. See the problem with that? Crap.

The building information was not available. My access code did not work for a while. It takes too long to unload the truck. I made a big mistake choosing this location.
