They do not advise their customers of a 14.5 percent county imposed transportation tax. Regional manager Kyle campion is liar and a cheat... along with the manager AMY. U haul owes me $530.00 as this was the additional tax I paid. THERE ARE NO OTHER COUNTIES IN OREGON THAT CHARGE A TAX AND THERE IS NO SALES TAX IN OREGON. IF I WAS NOTIFIED AHEAD OF TIME, I WOULD HAVE RESERVED THE EQUIPMENT IN WASHINGTON COUNTY, OREGON WHERE MY STORAGE UNIT WAS. UHAUL CORPORATE SHOULD CONTACT ME REGARDING THIS EGREGIOUS UNDISCLOSED CHARGE AND TAX. TOTALLY TOOK ADVANTAGE OF ME I WILL NEVER USE UHAUL AGAIN AND WILL ADVISE MANY OTHERS TO AVOID UHAUL AS WELL... THAT WILL HIT UHAUL FOR MORE THAN $530.00 BUT IM POSITIVE UHAUL IS LAUGHING AT ME NOW AND COULD CARE LESS BECAUSE THEY ARE TOO BIG TO FAIL AND FULL OF CORPORATE GREED.

The Wi-Fi at the pickup location does not work. Either install Wi-Fi that works or change the system so that a customer can check in without being right next to the building. We lost about two and a half hours trying to follow U-Haul protocol of checking in on our phone while at the U-Haul location. The signal doesn't work in the building so we were standing (outside) next to the building trying to get through the check-in process before getting thrown off the system…time after time after time. This made checking in very frustrating to say the least.If it were not for the wonderful gal behind the counter going above and beyond, we would have given up and left.

1) Nearly a 20 min wait to pick up reserved truck 2) While waiting in line, two staff asked me if the rig parked outside was mine; but never said "I'll be with you soon" or otherwise acknowledged me as a customer like the white people in line 3) Insulting policy of asking me and another person of color to provide a reference to be called on the spot to vouch for me --the white customer was not asked to do this, I've never been asked this when renting from U-Haul or anyone else!!! 4) In my previous attempt to use this location, I arrived to find they were "over booked" and I had to go to another location--they could have at least called and told me before I arrived 5) I cleaned the truck but since it was raining there were some wet sweep streaks on the floor; although they were going to mop it anyway, they charged an extra cleaning fee just cuz they could

**Please follow up with call. I do not believe I received service as I paid for and am entitled to a refund on my rental"" (Corey - 503-519-5605). I registered to pick up my truck at 7:30 am. I DID NOT receive notice that this was not possible until I was required to register on your app and on the way to the facility. When there (at approximately 7:45, I was told by Trever they had a busy Saturday and the rental was not set up. As a busy father with a young family with SEVERAL timely commitments on Sunday (including paid for, scheduled movers) I WAS NOT ABLE TO PICK UP LATER AS ADVISED I WOULD NEED TO. After being on hold for an hour for a call back, the disinterested call agent replied "So you want me to cancel your reservation?" NO!!! Today is moving day ... I need to move but my reservation needs to be held at the committed time of 7:30 am! I was cut off as I had my daughter screaming in my ear on the call, asking for a call back when I was free (I did not receive a call back). When I was able to return again to the facility (10 am) I was told by Trever (who is personally amazing, btw, good worker) - that they were out of trucks. Come on, U-haul, you can do better. Trever was able to locate two appropriately sized trucks ready for wash and inspection, HOWEVER, the first one was found to be damaged and had to be pulled from service. Fortunately, the last truck was able to be leased to me, 3.5 hours AFTER my committed pick up time. My concern is two-fold: U-Haul was unable to meet their commitment for time of pick up. U-Haul was unable to NOTIFY me ahead of time they were unable to meet their commitments. This created for me wasted time, wasted expense, and a terrible kick off to an already stressful day moving while managing a young family. I will not be using U-Haul again if you can not follow through on their commitments. I will advise anyone in need of renting a truck away from U-Haul. I demand a refund/discount on this rental. This was an avoidable error on U-Haul's part and made for a very poor customer experience.

There weren't any issues w/personnel, but the rental process had several significant hiccups along the way including the free storage I booked initially not being available when I went online to check my reservation. I was initially charged for another day because apparently the storage and drop off location for the truck were different but the GM of this store reversed that charge. Overall felt like the people working here made it a good experience but Uhaul could do much better in terms of the emailing they sending detailing drop off and storage being more seperate and clear.

The front desk lady was far less than pleasant. Returning it was a terrible struggle. After having to travel an additional 6 (12 total) miles because the original rental was messed up, I'm still real frustrated I have to pay the additional mileage for U-Hauls mistake. The vehicle itself was fine.

They told me the dolly rental was $7…. It was that much per day, which wasn't on any of the promo materials, etc. I own a landscape company,and we have a couple hand trucks, if I'd known it was going to cost me over one hundred freaking dollars to rent a dolly I would have just used one of my own.

Our wait time was 45 minutes after our 10am check in time which made us late to meet with the movers. They told us the gas was at a quarter tank but it wasn't. The employees were trying their best but the wait time was horrible, especially with an appointment and having already done the online check in.

I drove 20 miles and went to the gas station to put it back to full before returning it…the van swallowed 5 gallons of gas and cost me 28$…. They didn't care. They said there was a graph on my contract I was supposed to have the gas station attendant adhere to…really? Super pissed off I should have only paid for less than 8$ for 20 miles.

For 24/7 mobile check in users: make it so much easier! There was just a small sign with the barcode and no option to use the barcode for returning the equipment. There needs to be better signage. There could also be a sign pointing out a back lot, making the equipment easier to find in the first place. Truck was clean, worked well, no concerns there!

I was completely let down by UHaul - not just a specific person or location but my everyone I was in contact with. I sat on hold, dropped calls, unanswered phone calls for a total of 6.5 hours between the 2 days I was waiting on my box. My box arrived 2 days after the specified date and was picked up 2 days after the specified date. I was not given any notice and had to make 37 separate phone calls to understand the location of my box. I was also charged $1.7k more than I was promised. I had phone recorded evidence of the mistake and was still not reimbursed. I will NEVER use UHaul again, and anyone I tell my story to has also rolled their eyes and said "UHaul is just terrible". After my experience, I absolutely agree. I have completely lost my faith in this company. I had no idea a national corporation would stoop this low in the way they treat their customers. Moves are stressful enough without your employees harassing and taking advantage of their customers.

I got sent to this location on Columbia Blvd from the NE sandy location because they did not have the equipment that I reserved 3 days ahead of time! It was extremely inconvenient because the location I was sent to was in the complete opposite direction from where I needed the the equipment and took an extra hour of time and not to mention the cost of gas. I was already pressed for time prior to that and had to tow another vehicle with the equipment and get the towed vehicle to a shop before they closed, luckily the owner was understanding and nice enough to stay past closing till I got there. I will not be going back to the NE Sandy location again, that was my 3rd bad experience at that location.

I have used Uhaul multiple times for in-city moves, but this was the first time I was blown away by the quality of workers they have employed. The GM was phenomenal. Both in training new associates hands-on AND making sure myself and other customers felt relaxed and taken care of while doing so. After a 3000 mile drive from GA to Portland, Oregon the staff at Uhaul on N Columbia was a god send. Not only did they make us feel welcomed and comfortable after a cross-country drive, the floor staff took every opportunity to welcome us not only to their location but to the city as well. The three of us can not be more thankful for the hospitality and customer service at this location that went above and beyond.

Will in your unit I was robbed of property's that went well over the cost of the insurance I put on unit for five thousand when I moved I ivoced my concern about the open celling you can climb from one unit to the next I was told that motion deters were up their no to worry only to find out that that were just now to weeks or so being in stalled after the fact my unit had been robbed

Monique from Columbia Blvd was beyond phenomenal from the very beginning of me utilizing the storage units. There were dropped balls from another facility at the last minute after a 3000 cross country drive in a 26 foot truck. We had made reservations a week in advance for a big unit to store everything in the 26 ft truck we were driving from the east coast. We arrived as planned and met our hired workers at the facility to unload. However the Milwaukee,Oregon facility on Mcgloughlin blvd manager told us they did not have our unit available nor any extras with no explanation as to why as a matter of fact he was extremely rude and stressed and short with us and dismissed us…. It was late and we we were exhausted. I called corporate immediately and we had to keep the truck over night. The next morning Monique called back and immediate went into action. She planned everything and problem solved and rectified the situation . During the most outrageous time in the world (a pandemic) and not to mention there was a major total renovation at this property at Columbia Blvd uhaul in PDX . I was treated with compassion and respect and always very professionally. If there was ever a situation or problem I always was able to reach out to Monique and she would manage her team accordingly. I have had so many personal issues since my transition to Portland with the unexpected COVID pandemic . These situations affected me personally and professionally as well as financially. Not once did Monique or her team ever make me feel anything but valuable as a client. Monique has been extremely professional and showed extreme humanity through her strict diligence laced with upmost compassion and empathy all with a direct and firm respect for her guidelines. I'm so thankful for Monique making my experience wonderful despite all the chaos involved. Also in closing there was a new manager named Aimee at Columbia Blvd store who was extremely professional and kind and definitely attentive in doing her best to answer all questions and help me move out properly all while multitasking with other clients and employees who all needed her attention. She did it with a smile and great time management and a great girl by the name of Alesha next to her. My overalls experience has been met with great respect and gratitude for the team at Columbia Blvd under Monique's leadership. I felt valued as a client and was appreciative for the grace given during a major transition in my life during my departure from the units at UHAUL.. I will always be grateful. Thank you..

I will never recommend another storage solution other than this location specifically because of the personable staff, safe atmosphere, and ease of use. With Amie taking on more responsibility, I feel that this location will be even more of a success. A very good and straightforward operation. All of the workers that I encountered were on task and helpful. The facility was clean and well maintained. Of special note was an older black woman perhaps n her 30s who seemed to be key to that world running as smoothly as it did. But, I never had a bad employee encounter. Thanks to all who work there as dealing w/a public who are in transition can not be easy. Finally, the homeless are thick on the ground in that part of Portland but I was never troubled by them. A good clean operation

Access card had to be replaced every visit, meaning my access hours were limited to office hours. So Sunday morning at 6am when I'm trying to access, but I can't? I am not going to waste 3 hours waiting for access.

Facilities at extra space storage are much nicer and more convenient all around. The pathway leading to the u-haul storage is busted and makes it extremely difficult pushing storage carts in and out (your items may fall off and become damaged) lighting could definitely use improvement and there's barely any parking seeing 9 or so spots and at least 3 always seem to have a u-haul van in them that's not in use. When I was late on my payment I called when I finally could make a payment and when I went to access my storage unit it still had a delinquent lock 12 days later and the employees working there all seemed to have attitudes and tried to get snarky and says they remove locks when people pay (which I had many days following my needing access to my unit which put me out more time than I anticipated) all around would not recommend for anyone looking for a good storage space experience definitely take notes from your competitors they're doing things right. DO BETTER!!!

Really bummed on the lack of prorating. Also, often hard to find someone to help you when you need help.

I have an access code not a card to swipe This location seems to be unclear on how access code works, I entered my code to check in at the center key pad as directed, however system denies me access to the sliding door and regular door when I enter my code there FIX this problem. I came by at 7:03 pm on 7/10/21 and because of this was denied access. Someone had a door propped open with a fire extinguisher so I was able to enter the building, this is obviously a safety issue this site needs to address. However they likely did it because after 7 pm their access code did not allow them to enter through the slider or door.

I was very disappointed with my experience dealing and travelling with U-HAUL. When first receiving my truck and trailer, I had to travel more than an hour outside of my desired pick up location. When picking up the truck, which was at a different location as the trailer, there was no Staff at the location and I had to run through the pick up procedures with someone over the phone. I had ordered a dolly and furniture blankets to come with the truck. I was told over the phone "yeah so we don't have any of those, so you can call another dealer to try and find some". Once I drove the truck to the location of the trailer and hooked it up it was realized that the trailer lights did NOT WORK. The process of fixing this issue caused my wife and I to delay our international travels by an entire day. After 3 hours of being on the road, the ENGINE LIGHT came on and the truck began to OVERHEAT! Roadside assistance was contact but did not respond. After checking the truck engine I found there to be NO COOLANT. I then had to buy 2 1 GALLON containers of coolant to reach the full line. After reaching our destination uhaul N Columbia Blvd. Portland OR, we were greeted by LAVINA who was the only helpful staff member we were in contact with. Our trip was a disaster and at times we felt unsafe and unsure of if the truck was safe to drive. Through contacting the company via 18004684285 I have not had any explanation of the unprofessional nature of this company

I am extremely disappointed with this location and U-Haul it self for many reasons. I went with U-Haul for my most recent move and spent quite a bit of money on this company. To start with the employees at this location were rude u helpful and just plain lazy. They didn't accommodate for me at all. Spoke to me and my bf in a rude manner. Wasn't the least bit helpful with my questions that I had instead told me I will find an estimate the day I pick u up truck. Not to mention moving yesterday offered no help when I had to go all across the storage building because they had an opening that was closed where I can drive up to take my things this company just needs to do better especially the employees

Average is because you can't reach them by phone but when you come in there's 4 guys standing around twiddling their thumbs. Average because I was given a u-haul van with a cut gas line, forcing me to come back, change all my plans. Was told that the vans continually have cut gas lines but the facility is apparently too cheap to put some extra security/walls around it despite the loss in vans and a poor customer experience. I came here because the reviews were good so I definitely hoped for better.

I haven't talked to Anita (Columbia location manager) yet, but I remember her from Powell location. She is a top notch employee which makes this review unfortunate .However, her new male employee (heavy set with glasses) was slightly rude, a bit abrasive and his way of expressing "the way it is" was offensive. It was as if my business was in question or not wanted. I was told over the phone (great customer service btw) first month free if I rent a 1-way Uhaul and in tandem with my storage rental. When I showed up in advance see the unit and do paperwork at Columbia I was told I do not get the first month free since I didn't show up with the moving truck (scheduled with a cc for later that day) first. That seems to be a trust issue with bad customers. I have a history of positive business already in the Uhaul system so to not receive the offer I was told, even those apparently it will be the second month IF I show up with a rented truck for drop off. Then, when I picked up my Uhaul as scheduled later and told the Clackamas location manager he said the guy not honoring the deal (at Columbia) without the moving truck in my possession was ridiculous. However, he then told me that the truck I was renting couldn't be a 1-way because Clackamas owns the truck. I was never told by phone reservation or Columbia about any possibility that I would incur more miles to return back to Clackamas because they own that particular moving van. In short, my plans to move got set back 4-6 rearranging my move because of the above situations there were more potential out of pocket to rent both the storage space and Uhaul. Frankly, I would have cancelled if it wasn't for needing to move quickly and my cc already used for reservations with Uhaul. Not a memorable experience at all.

I want to let you know that AJ needs a raise he went above and beyond to an excellent service. He was always there to answer question and helping. I would highly recommend this place to everyone. I give this place a 10 star. The only thing I would change is when you walk in the storage area it smell like a nursery with all the baby things in front door area. But the service is amazing.

The first time I saw the facility I asked the guy working about it, and he was very helpful and knowledgeable. Because of his kindness I went back to rent a unit. The woman working the desk when I went back was very dismissive and condescending. It was obvious it was frustrating for her to have to answer any of my questions or to give me any additional information except a "yes" or "no." (The man working with her was from another facility and not familiar with this one, although he was the one helping me). We finished the paperwork, and he told me where I was supposed to go. I asked about the free lock I was supposed to get for registering online, and the woman flippantly said, "It's in the unit," as if "Duh, how did we not know that?" I wasn't familiar with the building or how to get in, but they gave me a card and sent me on my way. I drove over and tried one door. The door opened without the key, so once inside I tried to find my way around. I was lost and confused. I walked back to the main office. The guy told me, no, it was another entrance. The woman said rudely to him, "Give her a map," as if he were stupid. I asked him to please walk out and SHOW me the correct entrance. He kindly did. I then walked back to my car and drove to another entrance. The door opened without the key, but I was still lost. Somehow I found my way to my unit upstairs, but the door wouldn't open. At this point I was ready to cancel the whole thing and just ask for my money back. I was almost in tears. Why couldn't they have just walked me over and shown me around this facility? I went back downstairs, and there was another woman unloading her car. I asked her if she was familiar with how this worked, and she took me back and helped me get in the door to my unit (the door was "locked" with a plastic tie that ideally needed scissors to cut off; the other customer tried using her key to "cut" the tie. After 5 minutes, she was able to get it off. We opened the door, and there was no lock inside. I walked BACK to the main facility, and the man gave me a lock. Then I went back to the unit to unload boxes from my car. The entire experience was upsetting and frustrating. The U-Haul workers both needed to learn customer service skills. The unit is fine, and I am happy with that, but that rudeness affected me for the rest of the day.

I moved to Portland to take care of my mother and my property was an estacada and my property got burnt down two days after I rented the storage unit so I didn't have nothing to put in it and the day I came into it closed out the storage unit it still tried to charge me I never used the unit once and it was it was open the day that they needed it to be open still trying to charge me I'm headed disaster in my life and two of them and they're still trying to charge me money and I didn't even use the facility

The ramp coming out of the storage facility closest to Columbia Blvd. is quite steep and a couple times we even lost control of the furniture cart and had it go down the ramp by itself and some items fell off. Also, the parking/loading area near the storage facility is too tight: the spaces are small and there's not much room to load and often the spots are full of cars from other uhaul customers who are not loading/unloading to the storage units.

THE FRUSTRATING: 1) Access code was clear & rcvd quickly, however it was nearly impossible to locate my unit with available signage. No unit maps posted in storage area. Had to visit office for help. They gave me a paper map--so not at all contact free. 2) We moved a completely full 15' truck--furniture, boxes. The access to my unit was up a winding ramp and through 2 regular size doors which were difficult at best to prop open. The location has many dock doors, all locked and unavailable for customer use (I was told by office). Told it was a "liability issue". Moving up that ramp was a bigger liability issue IMO. Took 2 hours to load truck for long distance move and 4 hrs to unload to storage. THE GOOD: 1) Staff was friendly. 2) Unlimited, free use of moving "carts". 3) Building & unit were clean and well-maintained 4) Free filtered water available in office. (No bottled water available for purchase). BOTTOM LINE: It would have been much easier to have access through dock doors. I mean, what's the point of their existence?

The people are friendly and courteous. My only complaint is that the person I originally spoke with and made agreements with, over the phone, failed to note the arrangements/agreements so that when I arrived to pick up van the person at desk had no idea and though I was 'in the system' the details of time/days and mileage were not. Thankfully the clerk was unruffled when I pointed out the difference between her contract and the agreement/arrangement made previous day over phone with the manager. She called manager and got everything straightened out. However, it was a bit disconcerting that had to take time to reiterate what had previously been planned/agreed to on phone.

Used storage boxes -- drive up bay made getting items in and out of storage boxes very easy. If did not live 20 minutes away would have kept two boxes over the single storage unit now using.
