U-haul corporate is an issue. Reserve something online only to find nothing is available within 30 plus miles of the reservation location At the time of pickup. This has happened twice in a week. Don’t reserve equipment at a location then change it at the last minute on the customer. Moving is hard enough without the added stress of no equipment at time of pickup.

UHaul has only gotten better over the years, especially the convenience of using check in and check out with the mobile app. I visit the 12th street location on purpose because they have great people (helpful and cheerful) and equipment! I've rented various equipment four times in the last two weeks due to moving and I highly recommend this location.

Have used this U-haul site quite a few times in moving myself, family and friends. Great location and lots of choices of equipment. Well trained and helpful staff.

The staff was helpful and friendly. I made the reservation in person and said I would be in early morning to pick up the truck...then got a text saying it would be ready at 10, which was later than I had planned. We went at 9:30 and it was ready... so it was OK, but didn't like getting bumped without any input.

The employee gave me a hard time about paying cash ,thankfully I had my debit card with me .. he kept telling me I was lucky to be getting a tow dolly in the first place since they where getting ready to close. I paid for it because I needed it but left unsatisfied with the customer service, even went on to tell me that I could not do a night drop it ended up casting me another day rental because I had a very busy day the following day

A member of the staff insulted and belittled me in front of my wife and another employee. I have opened a formal complaint about this employee's behavior and have received no call back (as promised by every phone rep that I spoke to). This tells me all I need to know about the U-Haul organization. I will issue social media posts to that effect.

The uhaul app malfunctioned, it stopped allowing photos and prevented me from checking out for the truck. A helpful agent from this location finished the process for me. Had it been after hours this day would have been a fail.

I showed up with a 1 7/8 ball that needed to be changed over to a 2 inch. The rep in Salem made the change as I didn't have the tools. The nut dropped off in Coeur D'alene stripped the threads off the stem, and needed to be replaced. Luckily a U-Haul shop was right there. I was charged for the replacement, which I disagree with since obviously the nut wasn't tightened enough to begin with by the Salem rep. Plus I had purchased the $70 insurance for my trip. Other than that, everything went well.

Let the customer know if the vehicle will need to be picked up at a different location at the time of reservation. Wash the inside of the windshield. Very dangerous at night when oncoming head lights hit windshield.

The fellow that checked me in Sunday morning at 9AM said that he'd let the fact that I was an hour late slide, when I was, in fact, following the directions of the fellow that checked me out Saturday morning at 8AM. The Saturday, 8AM fellow said that U-Haul opened at 9AM on Sundays and that I should have it back by then. I told this to the Sunday fellow and he wanted to argue the point but said he wouldn't charge me. A bit off putting it was, that Sunday morning checkin. Disconcerting to have someone want me to know that I am wrong but he'll overlook it this time.

The team at U-Haul South Salem was exceptional on every level. My rental was complicated for reasons of my own, but this top-notch team were not only friendly and helpful, they went far out of their way to ensure I was taken care of. I would very highly recommend everyone on this team to help you with any of your moving rental and storage supplies. I had originally ordered a tow-bar purchase and installation, and rented a 4’x8’ trailer to move from Salem to LA. But when U-Haul put my car up on their ramp for installation they discovered my car had damage that made it impossible to mount the bar. My crappy car also had some bad water damage from leaks in the body which I had tried to have repaired at multiple auto shops over the previous two weeks. But the problem was not solved in time for my trip, and the car leaked badly in the constant Salem rain. When I learned the bar couldnt be mounted, U-Haul of South Salem allowed me to keep my leaky car out of the rain in their shed for two days while they helped me make completely different travel and rental plans. First they instantly returned the bar and accessories and cancel the 4’x8’ trailer, and then they registered me for a15’ truck PLUS a car trailer - all for the same price as my original much smaller rental package. I didn’t need a15’ truck - I didn’t even have enough stuff to cover the floor, let alone stack a single item - but for the three day drive down to LA - all of which was in the rain - the powerful engine and very comfortable ride were an absolutely fantastic experience. I was very happily surprised at the power of the engine - no problem at all passing semis and getting up over the mountain passes. Windshield wipers had many speed settings which were very helpful in the various rain we experienced. And even with a total length about the same as a full length semi, I was impressed with the handling and turning radius. But the best part of my experience by far was the team at U-Haul of South Salem. Vanessa and Travis and (sorry I forgot the 2nd guy) are the best, and all deserve a raise! Thank you, and happy holidays : )
