i feel like i've been ripped off... had van for 3 weeks and paid $1250!! on a $20 a day rental..bill should be $750... $500 in hidden fees... if your gonna rent get the insurance and crash that van to get moneys worth... Budget RulesPAULJ O.

Make sure the truck that you originally order is available and if not actually give a courtesy call and not wait for the customer to call. I reserved the uhaul a week in advance for it not to be ready and then I have to search on the day of my move for one the got charged for an extra day because I was late returning the truck but I wouldn't have been if the uhaul I ordered in the first place been available.GREGORYM K.

I originally reserved a truck for 24 hours from another pickup location, C&V Tire in Fishkill. Upon arrival at that location, the self-serve pickup function on the website and app would not work. I called U-Haul and spent over an hour on the phone with them, with no success getting access to the lockbox for the key. We had to change my reservation to pick up a different truck from a different location instead (Poughkeepsie - 10 miles away from my home and original pickup location). U-Haul rep on the phone did extend my reservation to 48 hours since I had lost a bunch of time with the pickup delay. Upon arrival at Poughkeepsie, I was able to get the truck however the rep at the counter told me that my 48 hour reservation could not be accommodated because they only rent for 24 hours on the weekends at that location. I explained that the 48 hour reservation was already made and confirmed, and he could see that on the account, but he insisted that he had to change it back to 24 hours, and that if I needed the vehicle longer, I'd have to drive back the next day, return the truck and re-rent that or another vehicle. I asked if I could extend it over the phone and he told me no, it had to be done in person. That is an absolutely ridiculous suggestion and demonstrated zero interest in helping me as the customer out. This was especially egregious because I had to drive 10 miles further, and back, to pick up from this alternate location, and I'm paying $0.90 per mile on this rental agreement. So the next morning I begin to drive back to return and re-rent the truck as instructed (with no guarantee that this truck or any truck is even reserved for me that 2nd day) and I decide to call 1-800-U-Haul on the way to ask if I can extend the reservation over the phone. They did, in fact, allow me to extend over the phone with no issue at all. No mention of the 24-hour max limit or anything of the sort. This was a good outcome however I'm extremely disappointed in the blatantly wrong instruction and complete lack of knowledge and interest of the counter rep to help me to meet my needs with the rental. As the situation stands I already had to spend $20 in extra mileage fees to pick up the truck at an alternate location. His instruction would have cost me another $20 in round-trip mileage fees to renew the rental, not to mention over an hour of my time. Overall I'm extremely disappointed and unsatisfied with the self-service app and pickup configuration at the original location, and even more upset about the customer service at the Poughkeepsie location. Pretty bad experience at U-Haul, which is surprising because I was simply using their primary and most-basic service - renting a truck - and it was anything but smooth, easy or stress-free.STEPHENT M.

I've had to move twice in the past month and each time my U-Haul experience was abysmal. Regardless of how I reserve the equipment, it's never at the location I specified. And both times when I go to the location confirmed by the U-Haul representative, my reserved is not available or needs to be returned in a shorter amount of time than what I previously requested. During this recent experience it wasn't bad with the rep I dealt with. However, my overall experience is well below average. Usually very poor customer service with the exception of the new woman manager. The old one was very rude. The majority of reps their are unprofessional and immature. It shows that uhaul will hire anyone. I've rented trucks with blown head lights, filthy and in need of oil changes. Reminder this is the overall experience but my most recent and with the rep i dealt with was better then usualstephen L.

Customer service was terrible, when I made the reservation with Natasha she was rude and had an attitude. When checking in the guy checking me in didn't even know how to spell Horseshoe which is my address. When checking in I had to do everything all the inspections and everything. The staff there is highly impatient and demeaning to customers. I literally watched three prior customers get talked down to as each of them missed understood Uhaul's policies with regards to rental protocols and payments acceptable types and where to park their car. It was hard to watch and hear. I was already defensive when I approached the counter to retrieve my rental. My work involves customers service, so I understand we can't please everyone but i have a rule i go by - First do no harm-, This means always defuse and never incite. I had to put up my game face and relate to their gripe. The team at the Poughkeesie location needs additional customer serving training. They to serve with a smile and offer solutions politely. They need to relate to customers who are walking in stressed out. Hauling ourselves is not pleasant and problems should not start at the rental counter. Renting should the easiest part of the U-Haul experience.JOSE C.

The truck I rented has a loose gasket on the drivers side which came loose while driving, so air would come in. And I used the winsehield wipers while driving, and not long after using them the wiper blade broke off the arm. The plastic part either broke off or was never there. So I had to drive for 1/3 of the trip in the rain with no windshield wipers.Chris C.

Arrived to get the trailer and both employees were glued to their cell phones. The lady I was dealing with kept telling me to hold on while she was on the phone finding out what the soup of the day was. Trailer finally got hooked up loosely and I had to rewrap the safety chains so they dont drag. Returned thr trailer a few hours after and asked for assistance on getting the trailer off explaining I'm in a back brace with a broken back. The lady there told me if they help then I get charged extra. I'm an injured firefighter andneeded the help. The lady didn't help until I said if I further hurt myself here on something simple like helping after I rented from uhaul then I'm going to hold them responsible. Then and only then did she put her phone down and slowly made her way out there acting like I was bother to her for asking for help.MICHAELR L.
