The photos shown on the app for inspection were quite out dated looking. But otherwise good. This location seemed to have quite a few trucks not shown when I was trying to reserve one. But otherwise the location itself was good. Lots of issues with the app.

I reserved a truck for my move on October 9th. On the 23rd the day before my move, my pickup time from 6:30am was moved to 6:30pm, I received this change through an email notification. I called the location (Dublin, Ca) and spoke with Amber-who over the phone graciously made the switch back to the morning. When I showed up on 10/24 I was told my reservation was for 6:30pm-I advised of the following and the response I received was in a perturbed tone we don't have any trucks available the earliest you could get one is 4:30pm-I'm moving today and movers are coming at 9am. We could offer you a van. A van won't work I'm moving a 2 bed apartment does anyone have a truck. Eye roll by the young girl at the counter-annoyed look on her face that I wasn't leaving. Her coworker and she found a smaller truck available in Hayward. 2 things U-Haul charges for mileage commuting to and from Hayward is 30 miles, as opposed to Dublin which round trip including move would've been 15-there alone you doubled my mileage, then we had to make 2 trips instead of 1 had 1 received the truck I reserved. U-haul should honor reservations made in advance and not change anyone's reservations without first consulting with the customer. Secondly, if the customer is required to pickup a truck at another location because the reservation location doesn't have one then U-haul needs to pay for the additional mileage. Further, I was supposed to be able to drop the u-haul off in San Ramon further cutting down on mileage not an option yesterday. As for the Jackson Street Hayward location the staff there were very nice and professional. Although it adds miles I'd rent from them as they understand customer service. Dublin needs some serious retraining

We rented the uhaul on this branch, they soppose to check their uhaul prior before they rented it out for safetiness of the customer, it delay my moving because they gave me a uhaul w a nail on the tire, they know it bec they put a mark on that tire plus when were driving that uhaul it's shaking in the freeway even were driving it not fast, not only that they charged me $25.00 for cleaning, plus we waited long in line when we return the uhaul, employee not friendly, I am a regular customer of uhaul company first time I deal with this kind of problems, I'm still gonna rent trucks to uhaul but I'm not going back to that branch and never gonna recommend that branch to my friends or people I know if ever they needed a uhaul.

Jesus and his staff were extremely professional but more importantly were very helpful in making a difficult move easier. Both Jesus & Jose were so patient & kind. I was grateful for the care they both showed towards me. I would highly recommend this U-Haul location.

First off, the guy at the front was rude. Told me to clean out the truck and there's no smoking and anything broken I would pay out front because I got no insurance. When I got the truck, it smelled like cigarettes, the back had trash in it, and the visor fell from the truck into my lap. Don't recommend going here to save your ass. Piece of shit people

I had a truck scheduled for 1:00 on the 17th of October, I arrived 15 minutes early to make sure the reservation was good. When I got to the counter after waiting in line I asked about my reservation and they said that they didn't have the truck. They called the customer to see how long the customer that was in the truck would take they said they'd be there in 5 minutes. Once the person arrived with the truck I waited another hour (now 2:30) until they were able to finally get me in the truck and on my way. So while waiting for them to get my truck ready they had rented out six more trucks to other people without giving me any kind of information of when they would have my truck ready.

The place is slow and not organized to minimize the time of wait in the context of the Covid19 situaiton. We made reservation on phone for 2:00PM and got delivery of the vehicule 2:35. We had pickup truck and trailer and completed the move of the motorcycle we needed to move. We wanted to return trailer and keep the truck for several other days. We could not get the personel at this locaiton to operate this simple request. Operation way too slow and not streamedlined at all. Not Happy

Took 45 minutes to pick up a rental. The employees were working very hard, and it seemed like they were understaffed. Employees were nice and got me set up, but couldn't apply my gift certificate I was given by another uhaul (which they gave me for messing up my order lol). Rental was dirty. There was a used men's razor in the backseat (grosssss....)

The day I did my rental there were only 2 customer service people checking in/checking out vehicles and trailers. The line for people waiting was out the door. I would see a need for more customer service people in the store, or a quicker way of being able to return rental equipment. Other than that, overall I was very pleased at the Hayward store on Jackson Blvd.

Under current COVID-19 restrictions, UHaul is doing a great job! Only issue was when I returned the truck at noon, there was only gentleman and when I was finished, the line was out the door. This location could use more help, especially on the weekends!

The truck had a very loud belt squeal, when going over an extended grade the Altamont Pass or Dublin grade the A/C fan shut off, and the steering was loose.

Was sent to the wrong location by the order confirmation, which is like the most basic thing to get right. Also when I told the employee (once I was at the “right” location) that I ordered 24 pads, he said “I have 12 you can use”, but of course I already paid for 24. It was a really weird experience overall, like the app and no-contact stuff was so efficient and well managed and then the rest of the process felt like a fever dream it was so bad. Also, the gas tank was like 3/4 full so I had to basically guess how much gas to put in to return it. That has never happened before in all the times I've rented a Uhaul. Very strange.

No social distancing. There was two associates no mask upon pickup , The emergency brake level did not work . The tank was completely empty on E. The handle driver's window broken . This was a totally unacceptable experience .

Upon getting home with the truck, I discovered that the cargo area had apparently not been cleaned out. There were a bunch of recyclables like plastic bags, bottles and trash in the cargo area. It appeared that that a homeless person had been living in it. It also smelled really bad. The air pressure in the tires were low in the trade tires and one of the front tires had to much air.

I'm so disappointed and disgusted with this place .....they are trying to charge me and accuse me of sumone else's damage.. I'm at a lost of words .also waited for over 2 hours for manager and he never came to talk to after I was told he was on his way .total wreck and all very unprofessional.the general managers name is jesus and hes a joke doesn't know how to treat his customers .I realy would like jesus boss contact because this matter needs to be resolved ...please someone get in contact with me asap thank you.

Have a better customer service. I rented a 26 truck and I make a mistake in the time that I need it no one ask me anything about how much time I need it. When I return truck one of the guys was made and make a bad comment instead of asking. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE

I won't ding Hayward on this, but it is EXTREMELY frustrating that Uhaul has created their own definition of reserve. Reserve generally means it's been set aside. Since that does not happen in the Uhaul reservation process, you should call it something else. Perhaps 'wish', since all I s Eem to be doing is wishing that a certain piece of equipment will be available.

I was told the truck I would get was a 26 ft and 20 ft. I did not get what uhaul promised. I had to pay my my movers from 7am to 130am. We had to take two trucks two extra trips. Very disappointed with uhaul. My experience with site was excellent

Truck was dirty on outside. I rented a dolly but the truck did not have a ramp. Huh?! The dolly was on the ground and the man said it did not need to be strapped because it would not move. Untrue. The dolly slammed all over the place while driving. There was no one outside to help check the truck in for return. I had to go in the store and get Jesus who friendly and professional.

Poorly trained staff. They tell you to leave the equipment and they will check it in for you. A month later I get a huge bill with multiple small bills. I call uhaul 3 separate times waiting a hour on hold each time. Got promised I would get a call back within 24 hours each time. Never happened. Finally I get a call back. They check camera footage. And refund me for the over charge. Still tried to charge for the full rental fee. I said that was unacceptable and The manager gave me $30 refund which was better than nothing. .

I'll start by stating that the UHAUL pick up location on Jackson Street in Hayward, CA should do a better job of making sure equipment rented is maintained and safe to operate! I rented a 26' footer and learned AFTER arriving at our destination (from Hayward, CA to Sacramento, CA) 105 miles away and driving a fully loaded truck over the steep Altamont Pass, that bolts were missing from the exhaust manifold and the rear brakes were metal on metal scraping the rotors per the dispatched mechanic. I had thankfully hired a professional driver and moving crew (all three rode in the truck with bad brakes), but I was paying them hourly, so the delays waiting on hold with UHAUL customer service and dispatch, along with waiting for the mechanic and ultimately the tow truck cost me a few hundred dollars in labor hours because I could not take the crew home until the truck issue was resolved. I had fortunately driven my own car and was able to drive my crew home (well after midnight the 105 miles back to the Bay Area from Sacramento). I am still waiting for Jesus, the Jackson Street, Hayward, CA GM, to get back to me regarding what this is going to cost me. He initially defended their process insisting the truck is serviced every 5,000 miles, questioning the motives of the mechanic, which I informed him was dispatched by UHAUL! He asked if the mechanic's company also towed the truck and I advised him that the mechanic told UHAUL dispatch that the truck was UNSAFE TO DRIVE and that his company didn't have a tow truck in the area, so they should dispatch another tow company. Jesus, then asked why we didn't drop it at the nearest UHAUL in Sacramento and I told him that I asked dispatch if that was an option due to the tow truck wait time, but dispatch told me the truck had to be towed to a mechanic location in Rancho Cordova, CA (about 20 miles north of our location). This all happened Friday night. It's Monday morning and I was still waiting for a call from Jesus about how this is going to be resolved. I then checked my email and saw a receipt from UHAUL for $343.93. 😳😡 I had already put $80 in the gas tank. I picked up the truck with a quarter tank and my driver said it was at half tank when it was towed. So I was given a $26 discount to compensate for a portion of my gas? I was charged for a round trip on a truck that broke down? No call with an update, just an email receipt?? This is poor customer service. Rather than excuses and being questioned for a documented break down, there should have been apologies for putting me and my crew at risk. I believe I deserve more than a $26 discount considering these circumstances, including the safety of my crew being put at risk and the 3 extra hours of time it cost me in labor dealing with customer service, dispatch, and waiting for services. I have contacted UHAUL corporate and am hoping they will be fair in resolving this matter. I am a REALTOR, so I work with people who are moving regularly and may not be able to recommend UHAUL depending on how this matter is handled.

At the counter on the morning of my rental to move, I was told by the front desk that I had a lien on my account and that I could not rent my truck until that is resolved by calling customer service. No upfront warning on the day I booked my vehicle, no email, no text, no phone calls about this until I arrive to pick up my truck! On top of that, I find out that the lien is from someone I'm “associated with” from March 2020. I don't even know the person, I've also been home since the pandemic started so no way this was me. Last time I used a U-Haul was over 2 years ago in 2018. I felt I was held hostage with no choices but to pay the extortion fee so I could get on with my day. By the time all was said and done, I had wasted an hour into the morning of my move... As if all this wasn't enough I had a rude and unwelcoming front desk person giving me attitude as he was pulling up my information that morning. He was unprofessional and rude to his customers as if he didn't want to be there or care about keeping his job. I now have to also call the law enforcement myself to clear up a potential case of fraud on my name. This whole experience was a mess. I never want to use U-Haul again and will be an advocate against using U-Haul for my network of friends and colleagues at work. I paid for my own misery this time.

When I reserved the truck online, I followed the instructions to be able to avoid waiting. I thought I would just be able to walk up and the vehicle would be ready as I submitted front and back of license etc. The check in was quick, I just thought it would less contact. More pleasant and friendly customer service. Explain thoroughly what needs to be done prior to using vehicle. Explain that you actually have to review contract/text prior to using vehicle. Information may not correlate. Also, don't give the clients what you think they may need. If they are requesting a larger vehicle, please allow that to happen. Because I went with the vehicle that was charged to me and not the actual one that I wanted to use, had to make two trips when one would have worked better. thanks

We were suppose to pick up the trailer in Oakland, but at the last minute it was changed to Hayward. I picked the trailer up around 11AM and returned it 3 days later at 12:30 and was charged for 4 days usage. If the trailer was in Oakland I would have been able to pickup and return with the 72 hours and only be charged for 3 days rather than 4.

I rented uhaul right before closing time. In fact, Iwas happily surprised I was able to get one with 15 minutes left until closing and no prior reservation made. When outside going to truck I asked uhaul employee who had helped me what the price of gas per mile was and was told $1.19 per mile . I was charged $1.29 per mile. 214 × $.10 = 21.40 over charged for gas . . . Especially since I overfilled the tank when returned. However, I cannot find my original written quote. So have no basis to ask for refund. Other than that, service was good, professional, friendly and fast. Although my most expensive rental with uhaul, it was also the easiest.
