First, I was given the wrong key for the truck I was directed to in the lot and there was no furniture dolly in the truck so I had to return to the desk and wait for an attendant to give me the correct key and a dolly. As I was exiting the lot, I noticed the fuel tank was not full so I took a photo of the dashboard and realized I did not have an updated rental receipt with the correct truck ID number so I had to return to get a new receipt. Even after I showed them the photo of the dashboard, my new receipt indicated a full tank of gas. They told me not to worry about it. Nobody ever mentioned that I would receive a link to document any damage to the truck before leaving the lot so the link expired before I could get to it. When I returned the truck, they told me I would not be charged for any fuel and to expect a return receipt by email within the hour. When I got the receipt, it had a $23.62 charge for 5 gallons of fuel so....I had to go back again and wait for an attendant to credit me. Lots of wasted time and no apology.Linda V.

1. The counter people are not helpful. Customer focused people. 2. The sun-visor was broken and hanging loose. Maintain .vehicles to be fully operational. 3. Be honest in representing particulars. The outgoing gas gauge showed 1/2, when it was marked as 7/8. 4. I brought the van in for return, the counter people could not give me a return receipt. I am afraid there will be extra charges, that I don't have time and energy to contest. 5. This location should be staffed by upright people, with a customer focused outlook. I'm not sure I would ever refer anyone to U-Haul. My time and location of my rental pick up changed a day or so before. The new U-Haul location was not expecting me. they didn't initially have anything to give me but in 10-15 minutes it was rectified so customer service was great at this location. It was not convenient for me to pick up a U-Haul at 2:00 p.m. or the people helping me. I think if I reserve a U-Haul on a certain day, at a certain time and at a certain location, that U-rental truck should be ready for me to go knowing I have a big job ahead of me moving my household on my own with the help of family (without movers). U-Haul, you can do better! Again this specific location did everything they could to help me out and for that I'm grateful.Debra B.

The console and steering wheel were not properly cleaned...sticky after what appeared to be spilled beverage. I opted to use my smartphone to check out but the technology did not work. I had to go into the store which I did not plan to do. The manager said that if you log in before you're in a parking parking lot the smartphone option won't work. If it's a known problem why is there not a disclosure on the app or on the website To make customers aware? There was another gentleman attempting to pick up using his smartphone and he had the same problem resulting in him coming into the store as well. On drop off there were 2 employees present. One said nothing at all while sitting behind the counter on a computer. The other was having a remarkably friendly chat with another customer while helping them...this conversation was prolonged and excessive considering there were customers waiting. After about 6 or 7 minutes of conversation. .and waiting, the friendly/engaging employee looked up and asked if I needed help (still not a word from the other employee). I remarked that I was dropping off and he advised that the drop off is taken care of automatically and I'd be emailed a receipt. It seems that I stood there way too long without acknowledgement and the " do nothing" employee should have clarified that way earlier. Pick up and drop off cost way too much time, the equipment should have been cleaner, and the alleged smartphone pickup option is Just plain flawed.Owen A.

Shift from a just-in-time truck inventory model to a just-in-case truck inventory model. It was frustrating to set up the reservation online and then juggle between several different locations on the phone because the location I picked didn't have the model I picked. If the location doesn't have a certain size of truck in stock, indicate that on the online reservation.Brennan M.

Mr. Ford was very professional and had a great sense of humor especially on such a busy day. There was an issue with the price due to a few changes I had made to the original reservation, and he worked diligently to correct it. He was extremely efficient with in person customer service, while also handling a phone that kept ringing the whole time i was in there. I have not needed a UHaul in a long time and was unsure what to expect, but it all went perfectly, including the drop off location and even all of the calls leading up to my reservation in regards to making some changes. 1. Mobile reservations should let you know that in addition to your license you need a lease, passport, work/personal id confirmation. 2. My rental was blocked in and I literally had to follow the rep as he kept telling me to click things and the system never changed the vehicle. After my father walked over and asked if I got it he finally paused and said hey would move whatever vehicle is blocking it. He also handed my father the keys when it was my reservation. I definitely felt If I we're a man I would have been treated differently. 3. I had trouble identifying where the vehicle numbers were. I made the mistake of thinking the letter of the row corresponded with the vehicle. I asked the man at the counter if I could ask a quick question. He said No quickly. I'm happy he did pause and say well what's the question which was just clarity on the vehicle number. But it was just a very weird exchange.Natasha S.
One person knew what to do, but the other person in the store seemed to be more in the way than helpful. The one competent employee services both lines. I checked in with my phone and just needed keys, and felt terrible cutting ahead of two lines of people. The competent employee helped me as well. The truck was really dumpy. Water leaked in and ruined two boxes of stuff --thisnjust made me sick about this while thing. The drivers door was very creaky and difficult to close. I need two more days with a truck this size but am renting a Penske instead. Sorry U-Haul, you guys have lost my business for this size vehicle :-(Jon B.

I have never been more angry with any company in my entire life. My 2018 Toyota Rav4 is currently at the Toyota dealer undergoing repairs caused by a hitch install done by U-Haul of Falls Church on June 22, 2022. My battery was completely dead, un-jumpable, because the hitch wiring was installed incorrectly, causing a "parasitic draw" on my battery, leaving me stranded after a 13 hour shift at work. I am now facing nearly $1,000 in repair fees and still have a non-functional hitch wiring. All of this came after it took over 2 months to make the original appointment with U-Haul in the first place. I went online and made an appointment weeks in advance for a hitch install (at the U-Haul of Falls Church), received an appointment confirmation, only to have it rescheduled (without confirming the date with me) on a day I was already going to be out of town and needed the hitch by. I immediately called them back, trying to reschedule for sooner, but they could not accommodate. I called all U-Hauls within the area, as well as the area I was driving to to move my stuff out of (two different cities in Tennessee), and was able to book one appointment the following morning in Knoxville, TN. When we arrived, they did not have our information or any awareness of us having had an appointment. After multiple phone calls yet again (including attempts to call corporate to explain the situation), I finally gave up and rented a U-Haul van in Nashville, TN as my deadline for moving out was too quickly approaching. Approximately 5 minutes after renting the U-Haul van, a "check engine" light came on. Turns out, the previous renter had stuffed a rag in the gas cap and this was never caught or fixed by U-Haul before they rented it out again. We ended up having to drive it back to U-Haul to trade it out, which took over 3 hours to arrange, pushing us past our move out deadline and causing us to arrive to our new location well after midnight. When I returned to Virginia, I called and made yet another appointment with U-Haul of Falls Church. It seemed as though this finally went smoothly, although they removed a large piece of plastic off the bottom of my car and threw it in the backseat. I figured this had to be done in order to fit the hitch, so I moved on from it. Fast forward one month... my car is working fine, gets me to work without issues in the morning. 13 hours later, I go to turn it on to return home. Nothing. I had to call the security officer at work to come jump start my car, which thankfully worked, but my car died again and was unresponsive to repeat jump attempts before I got into the parking garage at home. I had to pay for a towing service to take it to the Toyota dealership, which has now amounted to nearly $1,000.00 in repair bills to fix what U-Haul did. I am so grateful Toyota noticed the wiring, because we initially thought it was simply a battery issue, and if they had not caught it I would have been in this exact same situation in the near future. Toyota also was able to replace the large plastic piece removed by U-Haul, which leads me to believe not replacing it was more than they cared to do. The amount of time I have lost sitting on hold with U-Haul has been ridiculous, and I am back to it again today as I will not simply be patient any more. I am fortunate to have been able to stay safe, but this all could have played out very differently given the nature of what caused all of this. I am so beyond angry, and will tell all of my friends, family and strangers on the street to never, ever, ever use U-Haul.Kate C.

First location reserved never told us they didn't have a trailer for our reservation until we showed up. We were sent to Broad St location where we were very happy with the service we received.
