I was driving from Tucson to Calif which is usually a 7 1/2 hour trip. I left at 7am and at 5:30 PM I was still in Palm Springs due to several accidents along the 10 fwy. I called and told them I would not be able to return the truck by 8am as scheduled. The man was so helpful and gave me a couple extra hours to finish unloading. Super helpful.Vickie P.

The whole process of renting a u-haul was a nightmare. We got there at 7 am when it was supposed to be open. I didn't not open until 7:20 am. We had to enter from the back because they did not have the key for the front door. The truck we got was damaged and didn't run well. It didn't have gas we had to go out of our way to fill it with gas and got charged for mileage to fill the gas tank. When we returned it the Manager, Daniel, said he would credit us for the gas we had returned it with. When I got the receipt they did not give us a credit. I called the next day in regards to the credit and he then said he would only give us credit for the a quarter tank even though I returned it with half a tank but he didn't credit me anything. The whole process even reserving it was a nightmare. I only needed a one way rental but they made me bring it back and charged me for the mileage to bring it back. The reservation process was handled by the rudest customer service person I have ever had to deal with. To be spiteful without my consent she canceled my reservations even after I agreed to the terms of the rental. calling back to make sure that I had a reservation had me on hold for an hour and even then they could not assure me a truck and said they would call me the night before to tell me if I had a truck which they didn't. I called at 4:40 pm the night before to make sure that I had a truck. It put sooooo much stress on me. U-haul is completely unprofessional and know they have you over a barrel and love the power they have. I wish we would have had other options but with the pandemic options were limited and not feasible. Don't be surprised if you are taken advantage of.Carmen F.

The person that checked my trailer was very nice. I told him that I never uses a trailer before and this is my first time pulling it more than 300 miles from Northern California to Southern California. He gave me some tips on how to backup the trailer for future usage. The conversation was brief, but very friendly and great customer service.CHRISTOPHER V.
When I showed up to move in after reserving my unit the Uhaul team gave my unit away. I called two days before my move-in date to make sure everything was good. I was told by customer service it was all mine and ready. I ended up having to pay $60 a month more for a larger unit I did not need. The manger Dan never followed up and was rude. To check the fuel level better as I was gonna be charged for gasoline because the representative thought that the gas needle went lower than what the contract said when the needle did not move at all. I told the person to double check and after he did he released he made a mistake. If I wouldn't tell him to double check I would gotten charge for gas for no reason.GUSTAVO G.

Initial experience with location on the phone was great. No issues and great customer service. However, when arriving on site at 8:45am to pick up our rental, there was only 1 person at the front desk, that seemed like they were in training, helping a single group for about 30 min with a line of 10 groups waiting. Upon FINALLY getting to the counter, we find out that they did not have the appliance dolly that we had reserved. After that fiasco, we finally got our rental and left at 9:35am. Given we reserved in advance AND completed the online check-in, it still took almost an hour to just pick up the truck... Definitely not right. I understand that these are crazy times and with people making more on unemployment than actually working, good help is hard to find. I sincerely hope that this review can be used as a training tool to help mitigate instances like this from happening again.Brian K.

I returned the truck an hrs before my scheduled time of arrival and I was charged and other 24 hr on top of a 2 day charge just because I didn't register my drop off on the unsullied appâ€¦to start off with I don't even have a uhaul app the next thing is the uhaul employees don't even encourage you to get the app or tell you that's what you need to doâ€¦I was charged over $100 on top of what I was quotedâ€¦stay awayFREDDY H.

Took 45 minutes to check in and only one person was working on the weekend. My movers literally moved my whole storage when I was waiting in line for get uhaul. After I returned my uhaul it was another 30/40 minute wait to return equipment and I saw the same people in line when I left. This is a billion dollar company why isn't there a more efficient way to get vehicles. At enterprise rental you literally check in at kiosk and get vehicle within minutes. I was talking to other customers in line and they said this specific uhual only one person is always working. Cashier didn't even do a walk around of the vehicle or look at gas and I just turned in keys/closed out storage unit. When I got the bill I was charged for not filling up and insurance around $85.00 that I did not ask for. I took pictures of before and after of gas and sent them to uhaul. Uhaul customer service only reimbursed me because I took photos. If i did not take them they probably wouldn't have reversed the charge.Rochelle T. | Overall Experience

I would have rated 5 stars, but because it lacked an elevator and I rented a unit on the 2nd floor, having to carry more than 20 containers that were at least 50lb each, made me cancel it right away. I thought there would at least be an elevator to help and make it even more convenient but I was shocked to find there was none.
