Customer service was not like it use to be. The guy was not very friendly and first asked if we had reservations we stated no and he first told us well I can't put you in anything before checking to see what was available. Upon return we did not know how returns worked we stood in line and was told go stand outside the lady would be with us. He was not very friendly seemed overwhelmed. The experience was not very pleasant. The previous workers was always amazing very knowledgeable always eager to help.

I made a reservation at a u-haul near me, and it was changed to a location 10-15 minutes away/out of our way. I feel as though of the truck wasn't available at that location, I should have been told beforehand or they should have transferred the truck to that location for me.

Love this location. Have worked with them on a number of moves. They tried to clean the vehicle out but it was to much pet hair and they didn't have another one way vehicle so I had to roll with it. It killed my allergies 🤧 for 16 hours but it got me where I was going!

This is the 2nd time in the past 2 months I have rented from this U-Haul location, and the service was just as excellent this time! The location is always well-staffed, the staff is quick to greet you upon arrival, and efficient in their work. I rented a motorcycle trailer on virtually no notice. The trailer was in good shape and I had no problems with it, the pickup or the return. The service at this location was excellent. Larry was the person who helped me with pickup and return. He connected and disconnected the trailer for me on both ends, and answered a few questions about details knowledgeably. I ended up needing the trailer for a few extra days and Larry made it very easy to arrange that during the rental period. He was professional, cheerful, pleasant, knowledgeable and warm. He treated me like a long-time customer though it was my first time using this location. I would definitely recommend this location to others and go back there even though it's not the closest to my home. They have a large on-hand inventory and plenty of accessories. Thank you for your service!

The no contact problem is with having to input 4-5 different references. This is extreme and a waste of time with all of the information needed to verify the renter. I kept getting messages to add other references. Ridiculous.

The truck was on the other side of the lot from where it was supposed to be. They parked it next to a ravine so I couldn't get to the passenger side without moving the vehicle before legally taking custody of it and agreeing to the contract without seeing whether there was any damage. The pictures provided to check for damage were of the wrong sides of the truck. The requested dolly rental wasn't in the truck but I was still charged $14 even after disputing the charge. The truck's steering was about 15 degrees misaligned, making it dangerous to drive. The key lock box had been left unlocked, meaning anyone could have stolen that truck and I would have been blamed. There were no visible employees at the location. The truck had a used face mask in the cabin, making it a health hazard. The tires were severely deflated (10-15 psi) on the right side of the vehicle only, which is a safety hazard. The gas tank had not been filled up. The air conditioner and fan were broken and did not blow air through the upper ducts. The radio was on at full volume when the truck turned on, which was quite a shock. In other words, they failed every single job they had to do. I will be requesting a full refund and apology for putting me in danger.

They were very nice and helpful. The manager thought an auto transport would be much better for our drive (cross country with lots of mountains) than the tow dolly we had arranged. We took his advice and are very glad that we did, those mountains would have been a nightmare with a tow dolly. Not to mention the uneven wear on the tires for a 2000+ mile trip. They also set the auto transport up for us, which we probably would have screwed up if we did it ourselves---that peace of mind was greatly appreciated. This UHaul location is great.

Ended up renting a truck because they decided to rent the trailer I reserved an hour and half before. We brought truck right back because it wasn't the right height. We were waiting for a response about getting a discount on rate since only had for an hour and when they came back to say they wouldn't give a discount AND they said I couldn't use the truck for the 24 hour period they charged me because they already checked it in! Completely unacceptable to charge for 24 hours but only allowed to use for an hour! Please refund my money or I will dispute with Credit Card!

Only 2 people working. Customers mush wear a mask...workers do NOT. Made a reservation 2 weeks before I needed it. Decided to do 8am pickup...touchless. The system was stuck and I couldn't get the truck. I was told by a worker to come back when they opened and come inside. I did...we left and came back at 9am...there was a line out the door. While waiting I tried to get back to the touchless method...original reservation was canceled. Had to go back and reserve another truck for 915am..lol. Only 2 employees waiting on people while we wait. Finally made it thru the line after an hour..got the truck. Neither employee had on a mask...around the neck or anywhere....when we picked up the truck or when we dropped it back off. I hate moving...this took from 8am to 9am-1020am. Never coming back

The people at the State Ave. store were great. The people at the 1800 uhaul phone number are nice but there aren't enough of them. Your pricing and penalties suck. What the heck, it's your business model do what you want. I on the other hand can and will take my business elsewhere. In the past month or so I have rented one of your car transport trailers. I have paid any where between $73 and $230

I was moving away from St. Louis, MO. This story is about some of the worst customer service I had ever witnessed when trying to pick up my U-haul from the original location, followed by how U-haul remedied that situation by assigning me a new location which provided me exactly the customer service that I deserved, which is why I WOULD recommend U-haul to another person. I was originally told to go to 1513 N 13TH ST, St. Louis MO 63106 to pick up my U-haul. Upon arriving, all my boyfriend and I saw was a gas station with no signs or anything, but there were a few U-haul trucks (of the size that I had ordered), outside just parked near a dumpster. So we were confused, and called the number provided. They said yes this is a U-haul pick up facility and we can come inside. Upon entering, the cashier told us to go to a window on the other side of the cashier counter and talk to the guy at the window for our U-haul info. So I go up to the counter— the man is scrolling through his phone and does not look up when I arrive. I say “excuse me”, he does not look up. I say “excuse me, is this where we pick up a U-haul?” He still does not look up, and all he does is shake his head “No”. Confused, we go back to the cashier, tell her about that, and she said to go back to that window because that is the correct place to get our U-haul. We go back. This time I say “excuse me, the cashier told us this is where we go to get our U-haul, and I'd like to pick it up now please.” Without looking up from his phone, He told us “no, we don't have one for you.”, I said “yes you do, I made a reservation online to pick it up, and spoke with the representative for U-haul—“ I couldn't finish my sentence before he said “the guy who does that isn't here.” I said “that doesn't matter. I was told to pick it up at 3:30pm. I am here now, and I will be receiving my U-haul now please.” He rambled on about sounding that I couldn't understand, and showed me his phone about a text interaction between him and someone else, that was about how he had to turn someone away from getting a U-haul. To this I said “what does this have to do with me?” He said “nothing. I'm just proving I don't have anything for you.” I am mad at this point, and I say “yes you do, you have my size U-hauls right outside, I placed this order and this was the location I was assigned to come pick it up at this time—“ before I could finish he gets up out of his chair, walks out of that office, says “I don't know what to tell you.” And then LEAVES. Just walks out of the gas station and I believe just lit a cigarette. My boyfriend and I are in shock that this was happening. I can understand if there's some kind of blip in the system and they just needed me to go somewhere else. But, this guy barely conversed with us, did not take the time to listen to us speak, did not give us an alternative if he truly “didn't have one for us”... basically he offered us the bare minimum communication, essentially expecting us to accept that there is no U-haul for us despite our reservation, and just move on with our day. Unacceptable. So we called U-haul customer service, and the person on the other line was extremely helpful. I told her about how his was the WORST service I ever witnessed with U-haul or any other travel company for that matter. She was very attentive to my concerns and the inconvenience I experienced. She then arranged for me to get a U-haul at 7270 Olive Blvd University City, MO 63130, and this experience was MUCH better. This was actually a U-haul facility. The people who helped me were very kind and gave me a $50 Reimbursement due to the inconvenience. Overall, U-haul is fantastic and they have amazing customer services, and I am so grateful for the fact that I was assisted in the way I should have been the whole time. That being said, I would never recommend 1513 N 13TH ST, St. Louis MO 63106 to ANYONE to ever pick up or drop off their U-haul.

I rented a 10' truck and drove it exactly 20 miles. The fuel level appeared to be full upon pickup, yet it took 4.25 gallons of gas to fill it upon return. This implies a mpg of less than 5 for the trip. This seemed very low. Upon asking the attendant receiving the truck back from me, I was directed to the manager inside. I showed the manager my gas receipt and asked if the implied mpg was correct or if it implied that I was given a rental that was a few gallons short of full. He told me that 5 mpg is not unusual for a 10 foot truck. I have since found that I should have gotten 10 mpg. I am a little upset that I had to put in twice the fuel that I should have; I am quite disappointed that the manager did not offer any compensation for the excessive fuel cost and my time to discover and follow up on the issue; I am furious that a UHaul manager lied to my face.
