No one went above and beyond, even when I initially thought they did. The receptionist was courteous but when I potentially had to rent from another location, she didn't help me contact that location to see if they could meet my needs. When one of the other employees staged my vehicle for pick up, not only did he leave it running, but it wasn't readily obvious when I came out that it was my vehicle because it was parked far from the entrance. And, I don't know how long it was running. Yes, the motor was on with no one inside. And, when I got into the cab, the air conditioning was on high and the radio was blaring full blast. So, no, I don't feel like I had a good experience. As far as cleanliness, the steering wheel was all chewed up or something making it feel like it was sticky to the touch and the windshield visor kept falling down (not safe).RICHARD P.

Absolutely terrible customer service. From check in to check out. In fact the guy at the returns was sitting in his car smoking pot and would not get out to help us return. He just shouted through his window (didn't even roll the window down) instructions for returning the vehicle. Unbelievably poor customer service.JOHN P.
Customer service was horrible. I ask for receipt I was told they don't print receipt and I would receive an email. When I search email for receipt there was no email. I visited the 10th and Washington location to close out storage unit that I never use and didn't receive close out email confirmation and worse a bill was send to my emergency contact stated I owe for storage. had no issues dropping off the truck and they even agreed that what the pick up location did was shady, but unfortunately i am stuck with a surcharge bill because uhaul allows that kind of business to happen. If you're moving i recommend physically carrying item by item to your destination before you even consider trying out uhaul.Diego A.

had rental confirmation for 24hour rental Pick up 5:00 PM 9/19 to 5:00 PM 9/20 and was told upon pickup that someone higher up changed my reservation for return at 9:00 AM on 9/20., returned truck at 1:30 PM on 9/20LORENZO L.
The equipment i reserved was unavailable, again. The truck i was given was too large to fit in the loading dock of the place i needed to move from causing issues with parking and loading. The representative said tgey were "upgrading' us to a 10ft truck which is not an upgrade, its the same price.KRISTINE D.
First, the staff is excellent and well knowledgeable about the company. That truck, however, was the worst thing on wheels I've ever seen! The knob for turning on the various lights was broken beyond recognition. And even though I pulled the parking brake, the truck kept telling me to disengage it. Then the next day, it kept doing the same in both English and Spanish. The entire truck is outdated, please get rid of it. Thanks.ALLEN L.

While my experience overall was okay, I note two items: 1) The van had a "Check Engine Light" when I picked-up the vehicle. This should be have been addressed prior to my pick-up and 2) I never received a final bill/invoice for my rental with final charges and details. I was told that I would receive one automatically upon return. Again, this should be been done, as promised. I would appreciate a response to my comments above. Gracias.JAMES B.
The worst experience I've had. They lied directly to my face at 2 different locations in south Philadelphia. They told me it was impossible to rent a truck they were all sold out. Outside were literally 20trucks. After repeated attempts in the store i went online and reserved one and low and behold it was available at the location that told me that they were sold out and impossible to rent. The employees were ignorant rude and bothered that I made the reservation..not to mention they were across the street playing around with no one in the actual store at the location at 1015 12th st. The location at quartermaster plaza told me they couldn't do it in person and only online and sent me around the city and refused to help to see if any other locations had anything availableâ€¦the employees seemed to lack basic common knowledge and courtesy. What you can do to improve the quality is fire the useless employees who are damaging your business with their ignorance and presence at both of them locations.DANIEL M.

The location is tough in terms of traffic and driving a truck through a neighborhood of small streets to drop off. Not much you can do to improve that. There was only one person behind the counter when I went to pick up my truck and I had to wait 10 minutes. When it was my turn the employee was texting while talking to me. She was very short in her responses as I asked questions, I have not rented a truck in over 20 years. It felt like I was bothering her. Not what I expect in customer service. I will look for a different U-Haul location.Philip M.

I was advised via phone that my unit was free for 30 days. When I arrived, the person assisting me advised that they only do 30 days free for one-way truck rentals. I am very disappointed in UHaul, this facility and the false advertising. I am also disappointed with this facilities inability to be loyal to its long-time customers. My parents have had a storage unit at this facility for over 10 years. I need a smaller unit now and I reserved one online. It never said the unit was obstructed online but when I was shown the unit in person there was a HUGE column right in the middle of the unit!! This unit is un-useable. Such false advertising and so I ended up having to purchase a much more expensive one and no one was willing to give me a discount since I was expecting to be paying the price of the falsely advertised unit. Also, there is even further false advertising online when it said I qualified for one free month of storage but when we came to pick up the truck, we were told that that does not apply to this facility. Again, no one was willing to honor what we saw online (and I have printed proof of the advertising). We tried to resolve these conflicts by asking for a manager but we were told that the man who manages this facility would not help us out. The false advertisement is almost enough for me to want to report U-Haul and this facility to the Better Business Bureau. The unit I reserved was completely obstructed with a huge column in the middle of it rendering it not useable and made me have to purchase a more expensive unit. The obstruction was never noted online. Also, my reservation of a truck and the unit qualified me for one month free storage and when we got to this facility we were told that that special did not apply to this location (I have printed proof of this special). When we wanted to resolve these issues with the manager we were told that the manager of this location would not help us out. We have been customers of this U-Haul for over 10 years and we can't believe this is how you treat loyal customers.Andrea S.

my uhaul had a lock on the trunk, which ive never had on any of my uhaul rentals before. I was not told the uhaul would be locked and I was not told that I had a key on my keychain to unlock it. i only noticed the uhaul trunk was locked when I arrived at my destination to load the truck, at which point I assumed the lock had been left on from the previous rental and that I did not have the key for it. I had to drive back to the uhaul rental facility, which cause complications for loading the truck. The staff at the uhaul location was not helpful or sympathetic, they did not apologize or offer any adequate compensation for the inconvenience. I was displeased with the experience. if the truck has a lock on it, that should be stated and it should be clear that the key is on the keychain.JOSE L.
The equipment and the PEOPLE are first rate. The mobile app and the website give WRONG information and can be very, very confusing. specifically I could never find, in check in by phone where the 'requests' come in, I tried to respond in the message in the app and they were like 'respond in the request' but I could not find that anywhere, nor did they respond to my question "where is that?"Margaret S A.
The staff at the front desk and the return area were rude. The gentleman working in returns was looking in his phone for 20 minutes straight before he looked up and said anything. I asked him was he going to check my uhaul in he told me; â€œdo it on your phoneâ€. I checked myself out in my phone and when I looked up he was gone. I waited 10 minutes and then I sat the keys on the counter. The front desk clerk was very rude also. She gave me attitude during my check out and after my return. I would for sure recommend friends I use contactless pickup, however, it was nice to be able to speak with a rep regarding my rental. I when I set everything up online I put that I would be dropping it off at a different location, however this was NOT in the system which was incredibly disappointing.Isaiah F.
The 24/7 phone pickup option forced me to wait until the location opened instead of allowing me to take delivery of the rental truck at my desired time. Despite waiting outside. The location did not open at the posted time causing an even further delay. All in all, delivery of the rental truck took 90 minutes more than what was listed in the rental agreement. The staff needs better training, at the Washington Ave. Philadelphia location, this one particular female, very small in size, with glasses, about 5foot tall, that helped me, had such a bad attitude, as if I owed her money. the sun visor fell apart, i was told on the phone that the cargo van i needed was at this site and i get there and its not amd its too late to go to another site so i was forced to take it it was dirty and had trash in itROBERT D.
When I arrived to the Wash Ave location in Philadelphia they told me the van I had requested was at a different location (Baltimore Ave in PA) My pick up time was at a 5pm. When I called the Baltimore Ave location, they had already closed. I then informed the employee and when she called and confirmed, she somehow felt she was doing me a favor and my van mysteriously appeared and I had a van after all. If I had gone out to the Baltimore Ave location, I would have been an even more unhappy customer. Terrible way of handing customers and I have rented several times from this location. Storage unit they tried to give me was a mess, not climate controlled or prepared for a new customer. Then they tried to give me two separate 5x10 units though a I reserved one 10x10. Took me an hour and fifteen minutes to get storage unit check-in situated and am being charged $15 more per month for my unit than what I had reserved. Returning my vehicle was a frustration. The staff, all sitting around, said they were unable to give me a receipt and that one would be mailed to me by morning. This was 15 minutes before closing. I have yet to receive a receipt. The gas gauge in the vehicle was bouncing and unreliable.JACOB P.

I requested a 10' truck over a month before the date of the reservation. 3 days before I received a call that the truck was not available at the location I made the reservation with and I would be transferred to another uhaul across the city. No big deal, so I get a call from the new location the night before I am supposed to pick up the truck, telling me they do not have a truck available either. After over an hour and a half on the phone with different folks they said they found a truck for me. I show up for my reservation and they give me a 15' truck, bigger than the 10' I request and they changed me the 15' price which was at least $50 higher. Very unsatisfied with the upcharge and the lack of confidence i would have a truck for a reservation I made way in advanceMATTHEW M.

The blankets I paid for up front where not available and the cashier told me to purchase my own. Real customer service. Why not, not make excuses and take an allowance from the store new blanket stock to replenish the already agreed to contract to supply blankets to a paid customer. And their were blankets inside other trucks that they would not provide even though I said I would wait for the attendant to clean them. Absolutely unacceptable. And the inside bed was not swept out, dirt and dust all over floor. What's with that?GARY W.

Was not able to honor my the free month of storage rental after renting a one way truck. Staff was more occupied enjoying each other than helping customers. The process of getting your storage access and filling the unit and payment was all very inefficient. I spent over an hour trying to check in for my storage unit reserved 5 weeks ago. I was shown a unit completely different than what I reserved online and was subsequently told the unit I reserved online did not exist. I was forced to take the unit given due to an impending move. The staff was unable to provide an access card as the "system was down" so I was forced to come back to get an access card. Came to check out with my preordered unit. The guy at the desk wasn't wearing his mask over his nose or mouth the entire time I was there. Went to look at unit and it was dirty, had an open roof with spots clearly showing where someone had broken in, then the really lovely lady showed us two more units but the first the entire floor smelled like smoke and I ended up going with the second which is so much smaller than the one I booked.JANA H. | First Impressions

The entry system is a bit confusing. The website reservation is misleading. What's the point of setting up an electronics paperwork-less reservation when you have to go over almost everything and fill out forms at the store. When I signed up, the system said that the first month rental is free only to be charged for the first month because, as the indifferent rep at the counter said, "you have to return a truck to that location in order to qualify." I've given UHaul a lot of business in the last 18 months with 8 or so truck and trailer rentals and two other storage units (which I'm consolidating into this new Philly unit.).
