They couldn't find my reservation. Then recommended another location that didn't honor the free first month storage. Luckily we got the situation sorted out but I am less than happy with uhal. I don't understand why there were so many hidden fees and information needed just to open the storage unit. Lock, insurance it would have been so much more helpful if this was included in the reservation I set online.Charles R.

We have a major problem. First of all your manager is a liar. And then refused my attempts to get a hold of her. Thats your problem not mine. My problem is she restricted my entry into my unit until her staff of THREE came out to take the second lock off. Only to find a 3 ft square of wood shavings that got wet were leaking. I never signed a contract giving you permission to lock me out of my storage unit. Under any circumstances. Period. Improve service to answer phone calls. I tried to call this location the morning before pickup to confirm the truck and could not get any answer. Tried several times and it eventually diverted to some central or regional office. Drove to the location a couple hours later. There were 4 employees behind the counter and no other customer. Experience of returning a call from the u-haul shop concerning a reschedule was a little frustrating. I believe I was given a general number to call back. Was on hold for about 15 min when the call was dropped. Had to call a second time to enter the queue. Again waited about 10 min before a rep answered. Then told they would have to have the shop call me back. Would have been much better experience if I could have called my local shop directly Other than this, the install experience was good.MARK W.

The app has an issue with recording the return mileage. It puts a decimal point in that you can't delete thus having it register as fewer miles than when we started. Had to go inside, which defeated the point of self-checkout. Ended up having to add a zero at the end of the number.JAMES M.

I returned the van, no one greeted when I returned van, I went inside and dropped thr keys off. I forgot my ipass/sun pass in the van and went back 30 minutes later however the van was already leased to another party. I tried calling the store before driving there however I was told to wait approx 35 to 45 minutes call was then dropped. The person at counter said they don't check thr vans after their dropped off and anything left inside is beyond their control. I noticed the ipass was used and the person at counter onlu said we tried calling the person and left them a message not to use the ipass well too late it was used and the person said were not allowed to discuss how long the van will be leased out for. I'm out the cost of a replacement ipass now. All I ask is please check the vehicles once their returnedKenneth K.

This location is above and beyond the other ones I have used in the past. After being switched back and forth this one definitely has more equipment and friendlier employees. Your Hammond and Calumet City stores need improvement. Your SW Suburbs Traffic Office employee a complete asshole. Dude didn't need to be that rude, I understand things are crazy right now but that wasn't how to handle things. Your NWI traffic lady was really nice and worked my situation out.Gerardo S.

Had to take a larger truck than what I reserved. Biggest issue was I was going into Chicago with some tight streets. It did work out... One can tell your staff is highly stressed, they did a commendable job given the circumstances...., but YOU NEED MORE PEOPLE, especially on weekends. Not at all fair to staff or customers.DOUGLAS B.

I usually paid for my storage unit in person, or over the phone, either way any time I called or went in directly, the staff was always professional and polite, for example I bought a house, and my husband went over to our unit to remove what was left there, however I could not find the card to access getting in, I called & the staff was very quick to help my husband when he was there, the staff promptly took care of what he needed, which was helpful because several of our friends were helping to remove everything from that storage. I can only wish that other companies and retail stores had staff's as amazing as u-haul, if I need storage in the future, it will only be u-haul. Thank you for the superb help in anything I may have asked or purchased, to make my experience every time I called or went to u-haul in person. I would recommend any of my friends or family to use u-haul, there are a lot of storage places, however if you want everything to go as easy as possible, U-haul is the perfect place to handle your storage needs, and their staff is nothing less than courteous and professional. I put my experience as average because it wasn't excellent but it got the job done. I scheduled this storage unit over the phone on May 9 and confirmed with Christina one week before loading in. Unfortunately, upon arrival we were told our space was not available and had been "given away" prior to our arrival. I felt startled and upset, as hours before U-Haul trucking called me to ask if I could move my moving day to later in the week as they did not have my requested truck (made and confirmed same days as storage unit) to then called me back 10 minutes later to say they would have my vehicle. This call woke me before my alarm and concerned me, but as the job got done, we met our mover helpers and put everything in the vehicle. We drove from an hour away to use this storage unit for one to two months. After 5-10 minutes of the worker being in the phone with a superior, I was told I could be given a size up from what I ordered originally, if I was willing to pay more money (after a 20% discount) than I was originally quoted and confirmed for the week before with Christina. I asked to speak to that superior when they arrived, which was explained as 15 minutes away. We got the storage unit assignment and were taken to the unit. A superior met us out there to reiterate the offer of 20% off with the price hike as well as that our original storage unit would have been more expensive than I was quoted. When I asked about my original price, they said "prices go up $5 once a year so prices are higher than you were quoted." This concerned me as I was so recently quoted the 149.95 and left me feeling confused and questioning if I was being taken advantage of. It wasn't until we had to reiterate that we had scheduled and confirmed the space and wanted the same charge we were quoted for and that the only reason we went to another unit was because of their mistake that we were guaranteed our originally quoted price. My preference would be that this sort of situation does not happen to anyone else by more clearly communicating what unit will be taken up by whichever reservations are made in real time. I would have rather not had the experience I had, which was not good, and definitely not excellent. I would rather have an excellent experience and know that this experience could have been avoided but was not due to disorganization, poor communication, or flawed company policy. Rats from this storage area ate my Fulton sofas x 2 and other materials in my storage- I didn't have rats in my belongings before just in case anyone wants to know - I even found a died one on the floor in the storage area. I lost a lot of my storage and had to throw it out because of the infestation. Staff did not disclose that mice/ rats was even a risk at that facility.JEANNE H. | Overall Experience
