My experience with the Salt Lake City end was great. They arrived on time and were very pleasant to work with. I couldn't find a way to put a review for just the shipping and arrival, so I hope that the Salt Lake facility doesn't get dinged for this. They were great. The shipping and arrival at my destination in Norfolk was another story. I timed my pod delivery so that the guaranteed delivery time was a few days prior to my moving help heading home (I had family with me for the first few days.) When delivery day arrived and I hadn't gotten a call, I called in to find out that the pod would be delayed a couple days, but that I would be notified when it arrived. After another 5 or so days I called in again, to be notified that there had been no update to my pod. Fast forward a total of TWELVE DAYS after the guaranteed delivery day and I get an email receipt for my pod. I thought this was strange, since I'd never gotten a call saying my pod had arrived. When I called in to verify, I was told that my pod had arrived 7 DAYS EARLIER. I had received NO COMMUNCATION AT ALL that it had arrived. Not only that, but according to U Haul, my pod was in the destination warehouse when I called in the second time and was told my pod was still in transit. The family I had with me to help with moving had since gone home, and all my plans for moving now involved only me. To top it off, I was told that the earliest U Haul could deliver my pod to me was in another 7 days. I timed out this whole process so that the pod could be shipped, delivered and unloaded prior to starting my job at the end of the week. Now, I have to pay an extra fee to hire a third party moving company to help me get moved in before I start orientation. As of now, I'm due to be refunded $50 a day past the pod's guaranteed arrival day -- I should be refunded through to when I called in (Note: I CALLED IN. I initiated the communication, not U Haul) to find that the pod had arrived. For all intents and purposes, my pod was 9 days late, since I was never notified that it had arrived for the last 7 days. 7 days I could have been moving in rather than sitting in an empty apartment, waiting for my things to arrive. I still have been given no explanation for the delay, despite calling in a requesting a call. Additionally, every time I called into U Haul to talk to someone, I averaged 30 minutes on hold. Find a better way to facilitate communication, please. Honestly, I would give 0 stars if it were an option. I highly doubt I will ever use U Haul's services ever again, and will not be recommending them to anyone.Leslie D.

One of the employees, Zach with the messy curly hair almost like an Afro but looks like he hasn't brushed it or maintained it in a long time, is not a good person. Wouldn't stop starring at us, had his two friends come in and they followed us around and when we left tried to follow us home so we had to make several turns to loose them. He made us feel unsafe and in danger. We also reserved a 20 foot online to get called and told what we reserved was not available and so we had to get a 15 foot and pay a lot extra since we had to make several trips and go way over the allowed miles, because U-Haul couldn't keep their reservation expectations. But the check out lady was super sweet and wonderful.SAVANNAH W.
My original reservation was for a 20' van. After entering my info in the website, my first choice location didn't have the equipment. I chose another location that indicated availability of the van. Shortly after making the reservation, I received a voicemail from someone who stated the van wasn't available at that location, and that they changed the location and pickup time (I needed the truck at 8:30AM...they changed the pickup time to 5:30PM). I called the number the person left and spoke to a mostly uninformed young man at the new location that someone with U-Haul had assigned. He told me the only thing he could do was cancel the reservation. I logged back in to the U-Haul site and found another location that showed a 20' van available for a morning pick up. I booked it and got a confirmation email that my reservation had been updated. Day of pickup comes...and I receive a call from the regional U-Haul rep advising that the van was not available. She was rude, condescending and unapologetic...explaining to me that I had to have known that something about "reserved" to "preferred" status meant that I wasn't getting a truck...then attempted to close the call with "I'm just going to cancel your reservation, then." I was a little shocked, but eventually settled for a utility trailer in place of the van. Maybe I'm the only who has had this problem, but I expected more from a company who pretty much owns the self-moving trade space. I hope to not need U-Haul again. For what it's worth, the pick up experience was fine. The young lady at the desk was friendly and funny; and the young man who helped hook up the trailer was helpful and professional.JASON K.
There waa a check engine light on when I was doing the checkin. I called the the 800 and was on hold for a very long time, and then was transferred and put on hold again for a very long time. I went to a location that I was text and was told they didn't have one. I was so upset I left my license and credit card. When I went back the man asked me for my name and pulled out my license and then proceeded to ask me for another picture ID. I was standing there he could see if was me and was just being a jerk. Then he asked for other ID, I was so upset by this that I threw my other cards on the desk and told him to pick one. He then decide to lecture me on not throwing things at him. I didn't I was stand behind a lady at the desk. I was going t leave without my iID but he stopped me. I went to the next location and it took about 45 minutes to get everything checked. This was about 1:30. I had 2 movers at my house at 10:00 pay $50 each at $100 an hour. I paid for 4 hours at $400 and was only able to use them 1 hour because they had to leave. I was stuck trying to move everything by myself and I am 12 lbs and 5'2.. Some of the stuff was so heave I was not able to move it and will now have to schedule movers again for the coming weekend as I am on a deadline to have breast cancer surgery on the 10th and will not be able to lift or pull for 3 plus weeks. I looked into U-BOX from UHAUL in order to move my daughter out of State. It was a less expensive option for us and more convenient as the UBOX is Shipped to your new resident location. Initially the U-BOX was to be dropped in SLC but our location changed to the Clearfield UHAUL Location 1200 N Main Street and boy Iam glad it did. That is when I was put in contact with Sabrina Ward the U-BOX Customer Care Representative She is the Woman in Charge! The Person in the Know! Incredibly delightful to work with, she was a 5 STAR professional and a delight to work with she put the STRESS of Moving at EASE. Sabrina thoroughly explained the process and for me personally went ABOVE & BEYOND when at last minute we thought we needed an additional U-BOX. She received my request and brought 2 U-BOX'S the very next day right on schedule. Sabrina Ward is truly a professional, very kind and great to work with. In addition, we were able to access the U-BOX at the Clearfield Location to pack a few extra boxes that fit before UHAUL shipped it. I felt very assured with the Communications from UHAUL of when the U-BOX shipped and promise delivery date. Moving is Stressful ! I recommend U-BOX as an option for your next move. Sabrina Ward was instrumental in our Success. Shout Out to the Staff at the Clearfield Location for all your help ! There seems to be an issue with your uhaul reservation software? I ordered a truck for one location and the software confirmed the time and pickup location. I later called the 1-800 number to verify the pickup time and was told that location does not have any trucks of the size I requested. the uhaul customer service was able to find me a truck about 10 miles away. very stressful especially on a moving dayJoshua H.

Everything on the local level, both in Lake Wales, FL and Salt Lake City was seemless and professional. The national call center on the other hand had some folks who were curt and uninformed. I want to make a special note about the folks in Salt Lake City. I was trying to do everything long distance and they were very helpful when my daughter came by ahead of my arrival to help get my belongings moved . The woman that checked us out tried to tell us there wasn't a one-way trailer rental available before she even looked. We stayed out and she reluctantly checked the system for what we needed. Meanwhile she tried to talk us into leaving. She was not friendly or helpful. Once she finished her search she found a one way trailer rental for us and we were able to check out. I did the contactless pickup, my rental was not were it was listed. And when I had To speak to an associate even they couldn't give me correct details about were it was. So I wasted 20-30 minutes at this store because the line was long and then had to have an associate go all the way to the back of their lot (which I asked originally if that was were I needed to go and was told no). The truck had damage from previous drivers, seemed like there was a draft in the cab, very noisy, not familiar will driving such a large truck but the reverse kicked back very hard.Rachelle M.

The only thing I was displeased with was that we had reserved our truck a month or more in advance from a location near our home and it ended up not being available and we had to drive an hour away for a truck a day later. I originally thought that i needed a van for one day. But due to circumstances not even in my control i needed it for two days more. I was charged 189.00 and not even an explanation why. The "manager" i think her name is "Brenda", Was very unprofessional, was yelling at me saying i gave false information when i gave the company my alternate contact info. I had to wait till my landlord who lied under oath in court btw .. Would let me in the apt to get my belongings.. As refused because she too is negligent at her employment description and violated numerous laws in regards to Renters Rights. What is the problem? The company has my debit card on file. How can the bill jump from $50.03 to almost $200? Even with miles over? This experience is humiliating!! I was treated like a piece of crap infront of other employees as well as customers.. I do not make fun of her bcuz of her weight why she gotta cross the line? I have been a customer for decades as have my whole family. Idk who she thinks she is but i am definitely disputing these charges for many reasons. I am disabled on top of this and people such as myself do not get treated fairly. We are targeted for Disability Discrimination. I was not even given the opportunity to explain anything.. I even put the gas in more than i was informed and this "woman" still over charged me.. I cannot say enough good things about Steve and his staff. The young lady who seems to be in charge when Steve isnt there is amazing as well. We had some tough times because of Covid like thousands of other people. They were so kind and helpful and so willing to work w us on anything we needed. I work in the service industry and these two people made uhaul look like the best company for moving hands down. They both deserve recognition and raises. Uhaul did not have the trailer that I rented a week in advance. I had to get a smaller trailer instead. I wasn't able to bring everything I wanted on my move for this reason. When I had the hitch installed at Uhaul, they forgot to install the ball, ball mount, and pin. They also forgot to leave my car key inside the car.
