I am only commenting here on our experience with U-Haul in SLC. I will address the nightmare of our arrival here in Florida and that staff there elsewhere. Sabrina the truck driver was kind and helpful, although we did have to accommodate U-Haul by moving up the delivery of our boxes 1 day. The van had not been washed. It wasn't filthy, but it wasn't as nice driving away on a dirty van. The after hours return process was almost good. I tried to take photos of the mileage and gas but the app would not work so I had to do it online. Just a small inconvenience but I wasted 20 minutes.David F.

When I came to pick up equipment no one was in the lobby to help, the kid helping me had no idea what he was doing and he charged me for 10 large boxes when I needed 5 medium and 5 large. I was pretty upset. Returning the equipment (dolly) sucked, I was told I could leave it in the cab of the uhaul I rented from another location. When I returned the uhaul and called to make sure card was not declined, she made it obvious that I needed to drive all the way back to the original location I had gotten the dolly. Overall this was the only issue, everything else was great and the customer service was decent after everyone knew what they were doing.Cameron M.
Reserved my U-Haul online. Once it was reserved I was updated often about reminders of my pick-up. Very fast and easy service. Was in and out in no time and was able to head on the road in a timely manner. Very friendly customer service and if I had any questions, they were answered. This review is more specifically geared toward the U-Boxes than it is this U-Haul location. DO NOT USE U-BOXES! Seriously. I know it probably seems like a rather stress free way to move, but I'm not kidding; do not do it. You will regret it. I moved across states and so thought that U-Boxes would be a convenient, stress free way for me to move so I only had to worry about my car. It is an expensive way to move, but I was counting on Uhaul as a giant moving company to make this move go smoothly. It was anything but. My U-Boxes were supposed to arrive on the 26 of June. When I say "supposed to arrive" I mean that the guaranteed delivery date was June 26. Guaranteed. In other words, a promise. In other words, Uhaul's word as a company. My boxes did not arrive on the 26th of June. I hired movers and waited around all day expecting to get a call saying that my boxes are in. No call came. Eventually, I called them. After being on hold for well over an hour, I was told that there was a note in my file saying that they were not going to make the guaranteed delivery date and now my boxes would be coming on the 30th of June. This wouldn't have been so bad if they had told me this was the case. However, as I say, I had to call them to find out any kind of information. But, ok, four days isn't the end of the world. I waited. I hired movers again, and, on the 30th, waited again for a call. No call came. Once again, I had to call them and was, again, told that there was a note that says that the delivery date would be missed and now my boxes would arrive on the 2nd of July. Also, as I was talking to someone at Uhaul trying to figure out where my things were, I was told that I needed to calm down and that I wasn't being patient enough and just needed to be more patient. This was four days after the guaranteed arrival date for everything I owned. Four days. I wasn't being patient enough, I guess. So by this time, I had been told that my U-Box delivery had been pushed back twice. Keep in mind that I only knew about this because I called them. I never once got any kind of communication from Uhaul regarding these delays. So now I waited until the second. Once again, waited all day and received no communication from Uhaul. By this time, though, I was calling pretty frequently to make sure that my boxes were still supposed to come. Every time I called on the days leading up to the second (and the two times I called on that day) I was told that, yep, my boxes were still on schedule to be delivered. However, the end of the day came and I got nothing. So, I called the next morning to see if they could give me an update. They could not. Another way of saying that is that no one at Uhaul could tell me where all of my belongings were. They could not tell me that the truck the boxes were on was in Wyoming or something. Nope. They just didn't know. Uhaul is a giant company designed to help people move. Like, if you think about moving, chances are you think about Uhaul. Its like the way Google has become synonymous with searching something up. And yet, this big moving company could not tell me where my belongings were. I called on the third and was again told they didn't know where my things were. I called on the fourth and was told the same. And the fifth, and the sixth. Remember, the guaranteed delivery date was the 26th of June. It was now the 6th of July and, scariest of all, no one could now tell me where exactly my boxes were. Finally, on the 7th of July I actually got a call from Uhaul telling me that my boxes would arrive on the 8th. They were then delivered to me on the 9th. So, 14 days after I was supposed to get my things, they finally did arrive. Now for the customer service part. Like I mentioned briefly above, this was not a good experience either. I was treated rudely, I was hung up on, I was shunted from one department to the next only to have that department transfer me right back to where I came from. I was on hold for over 13 hours. That is not an exaggeration. Now, to be fair, there were some people who were incredibly nice and helpful. Unfortunately, those people were few and far between. I had to cancel plans and movers two times. I lost deposits. I had to buy things that I already own because I needed basic things (kitchen/bathroom stuff) to get by. I slept and sat on the floor for 14 days. I wore the same clothes until I eventually caved and went and bought some more. I thought--for five days--that all of my things had just vanished. All of this because I trusted the word of this company. This was hands down the worst moving experience of my life. I know that sounds dramatic, but believe me when I say there is not an ounce of embellishment in what I have said here. Do not use U-Boxes. I had read of a few horror stories like mind online but I chose to ignore them because it couldn't happen to me, right? Wrong. Seriously, for your sake, just don't do it. It is not worth it in any way. Heck, one Uhaul employee I talked to said that they themselves would never use U-Boxes. Not exactly reassuring to hear. So, take this review how you will, but I'm telling you, don't do it. Small thing to add, too, but no one from the company has reached out in any way to even say as much as sorry. My only suggestion is that it was hard to tell which side of the building to go to for the mobile pickup trucks. After looking on the west side, I was kindly redirected by an employee to the east-side lot. If there was a way to more clearly label this, it might save some confusion. I don't have any other complaints, though - the whole process was really smooth and everyone was really friendly and helpful.Wilson P.

I was given a truck with a broken A/C! I was stuck in the middle of a heat warning. I couldn't no longer drive and I had to pull into a hotel. I was told someone would come â€œtryâ€ to fix my truck at 8am the next day. I had movers, apartment, storage, and work scheduled. This would thing cost me money, time off of work, and huge discomfort! I need to be compensated for this mess up. I'm not content or satisfied with the service. The customer service was outstanding at the desk and in the yard. Especially in Utah being so dry and concerned with any sparks from dragging chains starting fire. I would make sure the rubber keepers are in good condition and not missing. The chains that connect to the vehicle were broken or missing.Robert W.

This whole process was painful. First, the reservation took me to the wrong SLC-based location for loading. Then, the delivery/scheduling process was cumbersome and after lack of response, and many calls/texts from us, the delivery driver dropped our U-Box off AT THE WRONG ADDRESS. He didn't call or text with issues, literally just dropped it randomly in our neighborhood (thank goodness I saw it when I was driving). It was an awful experience and I was not only disappointed in U-Haul but also in the people they hire.Mike Z.

My experience with the Salt Lake City end was great. They arrived on time and were very pleasant to work with. I couldn't find a way to put a review for just the shipping and arrival, so I hope that the Salt Lake facility doesn't get dinged for this. They were great. The shipping and arrival at my destination in Norfolk was another story. I timed my pod delivery so that the guaranteed delivery time was a few days prior to my moving help heading home (I had family with me for the first few days.) When delivery day arrived and I hadn't gotten a call, I called in to find out that the pod would be delayed a couple days, but that I would be notified when it arrived. After another 5 or so days I called in again, to be notified that there had been no update to my pod. Fast forward a total of TWELVE DAYS after the guaranteed delivery day and I get an email receipt for my pod. I thought this was strange, since I'd never gotten a call saying my pod had arrived. When I called in to verify, I was told that my pod had arrived 7 DAYS EARLIER. I had received NO COMMUNCATION AT ALL that it had arrived. Not only that, but according to U Haul, my pod was in the destination warehouse when I called in the second time and was told my pod was still in transit. The family I had with me to help with moving had since gone home, and all my plans for moving now involved only me. To top it off, I was told that the earliest U Haul could deliver my pod to me was in another 7 days. I timed out this whole process so that the pod could be shipped, delivered and unloaded prior to starting my job at the end of the week. Now, I have to pay an extra fee to hire a third party moving company to help me get moved in before I start orientation. As of now, I'm due to be refunded $50 a day past the pod's guaranteed arrival day -- I should be refunded through to when I called in (Note: I CALLED IN. I initiated the communication, not U Haul) to find that the pod had arrived. For all intents and purposes, my pod was 9 days late, since I was never notified that it had arrived for the last 7 days. 7 days I could have been moving in rather than sitting in an empty apartment, waiting for my things to arrive. I still have been given no explanation for the delay, despite calling in a requesting a call. Additionally, every time I called into U Haul to talk to someone, I averaged 30 minutes on hold. Find a better way to facilitate communication, please. Honestly, I would give 0 stars if it were an option. I highly doubt I will ever use U Haul's services ever again, and will not be recommending them to anyone.Leslie D.

I cannot say enough good things about Steve and his staff. The young lady who seems to be in charge when Steve isnt there is amazing as well. We had some tough times because of Covid like thousands of other people. They were so kind and helpful and so willing to work w us on anything we needed. I work in the service industry and these two people made uhaul look like the best company for moving hands down. They both deserve recognition and raises. Uhaul did not have the trailer that I rented a week in advance. I had to get a smaller trailer instead. I wasn't able to bring everything I wanted on my move for this reason. When I had the hitch installed at Uhaul, they forgot to install the ball, ball mount, and pin. They also forgot to leave my car key inside the car.
