The lady who helped me at the Saint Joseph location was very pleasant, and nice. I believe she was new, as she was asking the gentleman working, Cody, for help performing the transaction. He was very rude! Mumbling under his breath, being absolutely hateful. I think he needs a refresher on being a decent human being! His appearance was not very welcoming either, several shows of a full moon in the 15 minutes I was in there.CHRISTENDA M.

I made a reservation several days before my intended pick up of at 10ft truck at 1230 on Saturday. I arrived about 15 mins early to get whatever paperwork that was needed, done. After giving my name, the young man behind the desk said, "Oh your truck isn't here, it's late". I asked "How late is late?" He said it was supposed to have been dropped off by noon. So I asked again, how late will they be, hoping it wouldn't be long and I could wait for it. He then said, "Well, the people who have it extended their reservation." So I asked what that meant for my reservation and he replied, well we just don't have it. I was quite irritated to say the least as once again, this reservation was made several days in advance. His nonchalant demeanor about the situation made me feel like it wasn't a big deal and I shouldn't be upset. So I then said, let me make a few phone calls thinking I might have to possibly reschedule this move after driving 35 mins to get there and other people had taken time out of their day to help with this move. I called a few other uhaul locations but on the 3rd call, before it was answered, the young man came out and said he thinks he found a 10ft truck at another location. So we go back inside and he calls the other place and of course, they don't have one available. So now I'm even more frustrated because still with the "no big deal" demeanor from him and so far, no apologies for this inconvenience. He then says, we do have a bigger truck you could use. I asked how big and he said 26ft!!!! I told him absolutely not am I driving a monster sized truck in this weather to move 3 items not to mention I also have to put fuel in this thing. Bigger trucks get crappier gas mileage. After about 10 mins, one of the employees brings a set of keys in from a return and it happens to be a 15ft truck. He tells me I could have that one which I agree to but then he says, it "should" be the same price. I told him, it better be the same price as what I reserved because this error is not on me. What's the point of making a reservation if it's not going to be honored?!! Then he shakes his head and said oh this one (the 15ft truck) is already reserved as well. So we're back to square one again. I don't know what changed in the next several minutes I'm sitting there waiting but eventually he gets me a 15ft truck. I spent way more time there than I ever should have and not for nothing, when a customer extends a reservation, it would be good business practices to check for any other reservations on that same vehicle and maybe contact the next person. Perhaps an explanation and a heads up before driving that distance in terrible weather would have been nice and I would have made other arrangements or rescheduled. I also don't much feel comfortable with employees taking photos of a driver's license on their personal cell phones. Doesn't sit right with me at all. At the end of the day, what started out as a $19.95 rental plus the $14 safe move addition I added, I ended up spending $128 and change for the truck that I had for less than 4 hours plus $22 for fuel. Hefty price for nothing but a headache and aggravation from minute one. Will not use them again.Kimberly W.
Hire more staff. Seriously. Admittedly, I have no idea how thin your overhead margins are, but jesus christ. I probably should not have had to wait for over an hour after my reservation time before rolling off the lot with my equipment. The paperwork also reflected that I would have to return the truck at the original time -- shorting me that hour from my total reserved time. "We'll still need the truck back by 5:30 so that it can be ready for another reservation." Now I have to do eight hours of work in seven? What if I was driving between states or something? Maybe, you should have had it ready then. Why are the customers expected to carry the burden of your poor planning and skeletonized shift? The worst part is that even me typing this will likely do little good. If anything, I see those unfortunately overworked employees being scapegoated for almost comical mismanagement. My only real solace is that I don't have to worry about rental equipment every day. Get it together. Please. I hope you feel adequately reviewed.Juniper B.

Had to use the property 1/2 mile from this location for storage. Needless to say had to drive back and forth to the office to get someone to remove the lock off of an empty unit 6 different times. Couldn't call because the local number rang into the UHaul national headquarters. Wasted 2 1/2 hours of my time that I could've used to be unloading the trailer into the unit. Very poor customer service and customer relations at this property.Dennis P.

The truck I rented was dirty. It had spelt coffee in the cupholders. There was a big rip in the driver seat, and I am a short person and I could not slide the seat up. It was broke. I have rented trucks from you before but this was the worst. I will rent from you again. Just thought maybe they had a rough day. GraciasConnie C.

You need to hire more staff. The staff that was on hand was helpful and courteous but the two people there wasn't enough for the number of people waiting. I waited over 20 minutes to return my rental. You should strongly consider making your vehicles smoke free. When I got into my rental I was immediately hit with a wall of cigarette odor. Even after I returned the vehicle the odor had attached to my clothing and I got to enjoy the smell of stale cigarettes on my way home.tim S.

It was not the company fault. They were not aware of the 2nd customer to hitch set up. My appointment was at noon. They got my part because it was scheduled short notice. I was charged for another 11 dollars after returning the equipment. We got the truck with a gas less than half the meter, we did gas it up more than the gas level we got it and we were charged again.ERINN G.
i arrived at noon, as a walk in customer, i looked over the lot, they had about 15 trucks sitting there, 3 trucks in the cleaning area, when i asked if i could get a truck the guy told me no, they didnt have any, he ignored my inquaries about the 15 trucks in the back, and proceeded to tell me the ealiest he could get me a truck was 2pm, after a little back in forth he was able to get me a reservation for 130pm, i left and waited for an hour and ahalf, tro come back, the guy who was helping me is gone, and i am now being helped by newer employee, the newer employee finds my reservation and gets me a truck, but when i am brought to my truck its one of the trucks that has been sitting here since i was in earlier, he told me he doesnt know why i couldnt get a truck, he was new, i thanked him and left. i was not happy about it, i exclusivly use uhaul for truck rental, but the service i recieved today is making me rethink that.nathan H.

The owners/managers are amazing people, going above and beyond any business I have dealt with in St. Joseph. They accommodated my several needs last minute at closing time. They gave me guided tour and great detailed instructions which I appreciated. This is not the first time I've done business with them and certainly will not be the last when I'm in St. Joseph, MO. The manager of this location is HORRIBLE! He was supposed to put my storage on auto pay instead he did not and I was charged late fees more than once. Neither hm or the district manager know how to call customer obviously because I called numerous times over months and was told they would call me and they never did. Finally had to call corporate office to get anything done but yet these people keep their jobs! Time for higher management to step in and watch what is really going on in this store and start making changes because it is not good when they treat customers how they do! The check in was abit hectic. I had gotten the free 30 day storage. It was abit trying and tiring having to go up and down the steps to unit. I was abit disappointed in the fact that i didn't get credit back for not opening the blankets. I also picked up the truck on half tank and returned it with 3/4 tank.
