It took over 1/2 hour to get our van on friday. the person at the counter was doing her best but it was a system glitch and i wish they called the main tech office earlier (She tried four times before having her manager call the tech service) We asked for furniture dollies and they said they had none, so I personally walked around the building and asked a guy pointing to over 6 furniture dollies that was there. The lady at the counter radio in the same guy and finally was able to get the dollies for us. Lack of communication and efficiency was lacking a lot. Also not sure why we had to pay $25 auto insurance....

The Uhaul at 230 West 230th Street will be the location I will utilize in the future, I made reservations at 2800 white plains road for 8:30am, I arrived at 10 due to a family emergency only to be told that my truck was rented out and no longer available since I was an hour & a half late. I was told Uhaul only gives a one hour courtesy which I was never ever told. The GM offered no solution, I was the one who had to ask if any other uhaul had a 20’ truck and was redirected to the 230 west 230 location. Moreover, the day prior I was told there were two 26’ trucks available, I asked to look at the size of the truck, I was walked to the truck and shown the inside by someone was not even a uhaul employee but was looking for work moving. I went back inside and was told I could wait for the morning to rent the 26’ truck because it was there. I decided to play it safe and when I arrived home I called to make the reservation only to be told there were no 26’ trucks at all, only 20. And then my nightmare listed above occurred.

Assistant manager was very flippant and was not concerned with the fact that there was a line and only 1 person assisting. He finally helped, but acted like it was a huge inconvenience. Apparently another employee was an hour late. There were no furniture pads, but they were part of my reservation. He wanted me to wait 15 minutes before coming to talk to me when I asked why the packaged ones for sale could not be used. Also, the final price ended up being much more than what was reviewed with me as the estimate. The price per mile is outrageous!

The new U-Haul app doesn’t work. Fix it. It keeps going on error anytime I try to take a picture of my ID. Overall service in store was great though. The gentleman help us out a lot. Greatly appreciated.

There should be better inventory kept at the locations and reservations updated when items or vehicles are not available. This is especially important when doing mobile check in; someone is under the assumption that the items they reserved are waiting in the vehicle and they find themselves without them and the office says they have no stock. It's understandable that others extend their rentals and may not bring the items back timely, but better or more inventory of popularly used items, will help this. Also, for mobile check in, it would be nice not to be assigned a vehicle that is not in the lot.

This was a nice, professional location. The personnel at this location were prompt and courteous. Although Uhaul initially directed me to a location much farther away (which would have cost significantly more toll fees and commuting expense), this location was far more convenient. Plus, they were happy to help with transferring the drop-off location. I would recommend using this company in the future.

The staff was very helpful. The truck however upon pickup had an unpleasant odor. We tried to clean ourself but didn't help. We were on a tight schedule or we would have exchanged it. Maybe double check trucks and clean in -between rentals would be helpful. Everyone was helpful when calling into uhaul as well.

Customer service sucks! The manager is worry about other things Then providing better customer service. The employees Are not Knowledgeable At the front or they just Dont Care. When you call an ask to speak to the manager. The employees give you the run around. They say to Call back in 20 minutes , He just stepped out. Or Oh just Left for the day. They close at 8pm and its 7pm WTH.

Not a single thing uhaul said it would do was even on the same day. Waited two be days to get the box and three days for delivery. Three times I was on the phone for over an hour where no one could tell me anything useful.. I could go on and on... It's over it staid in budget. Unbelievable incompetence

I used the phone check-in for the first time because it was supposed to be faster than the counter check-in, but it took 45 minutes and I wasn't always sure what the status was of my order. This 45 minutes was also taken from my 3 hour reservation, so be aware of that.

The auto transport installed completely wrong. I paid for hookup my car and they did a terrible job Totally wrong One wheel was loose not tied and they didn’t chain my car. I noticed when I return my car. You can ask a u-haul employee at 600 mystic valley pkwy , Somerville MA. His name is Mark Dorasio, he knows all the bad job did by then. This could cause a car accident. I am very upset

Yes and no - too far. I ended up there inconvenienced because the WPR/Bronx place didn't have a truck for me on the agreed time . My reservation was changed to a later time too - nerve wracking and cost me more $ and time to get to the 230th St location....

Like I read in reviews when making a reservation, people make reservations for a truck + dollies and when we came in the dollies were all rented out and there were no more available. We had to buy one - but the employee did give us a discount on it for the inconvenience. I selected the option to rent using the 24/7 truck share so I didn't have to wait. But when I used that, the key was not in the box and I had to wait in line in store anyway which took forever. But the prices were as advertised and affordable. Helpful staff.

Waited an hour to pick up reserved truck & dolly. I RESERVED a truck and utility dolly for the move. When I reached an agent to pick them up, the agent said they did not have any more utility dollies available - "The dollies are first come, first serve, and we are out. We do have some available for sale." A reservation means it is held out for that person until they arrive, not 'if it's available when you get here, it's yours.' If I reserved a table at a restaurant, and was told there was none available - that is not what a reservation is. If I reserve a U-Haul moving truck, then arrive to hear it is first-come, first-serve, what was the point of making a reservation? The business's lack of understanding what "reservation" meant added unnecessary time and frustration to what should have been a quick and seamless moving experience.

This was a big, impersonal location. The attendant was busy trying to repair another vehicle when I arrived, and ignored me for a few minutes while I was standing there, contract in hand. He did finally get to me, but would be best described as taciturn. Spoke two sentences to me. Good sentences, to be sure. Ultimately got me on my way in just a few minutes, with no hassles, so I cannot really complain. So I would overall say good, if impersonal, service.

Why have self pickup when one has to wait in line for 45 minutes? The whole point of self pickup is that one doesn't have to wait in line. I am sure you will not refund me the lost 1st hour which cost me an additional day of rental since we were late to pick up what needed to.

Very nice location, truck was basically brand new. We had preordered furniture pads and there were none at this location despite being one of the first ones to pick up a truck in the morning; this would be an easy thing to improve (though they did refund us). Also our pickup location that we had requested (Lexington Ave, Manhattan) was changed to this location (Bronx) which we weren't told about until 3 days before. Apparently the Lexington location "doesn't do one way rentals" which I feel like we could have been told about from the beginning since we always intended to do a one way. It ended up working out fine, but more of a heads up would have been nice.

I did a reservation on my truck and when I went to get my truck the truck was giving to another customer and they didn’t have another truck available for use. Then on top of that no one knew who gave the truck away. Was giving a truck 15” was told that it will be the same price of the 10” for the inconvenience and they charged me full price and a dolly that I didn’t have.

Pickup and drop-off were really quick and easy, everything we reserved was available. However, we were given a truck that recently had its key replaced and were not told that it required many attempts to start the ignition. This caused us to lose an hour of our moving day when we had to call uhaul in the middle of our move because we couldn't get the truck started after we loaded it.

I opted for the ‘pickup with phone’ process and completed all steps by the time I arrived. My truck and equipment were not ready for me. When I finally located an employee in the parking lot they told me I had to go inside to check in. There was no line, and yet it still took 30 minutes to go through the checkout process and get the vehicle. I was therefore late for my appointment to pickup the equipment I was moving. Also, the appliance dolly we rented had major design flaws and did not meet expectations. Very frustrating experience. Will not use U-Haul again or recommend it.

When I reserved the truck, they said I would pick it up there. However, I was rerouted to another location. It was 25 mins away. When we got there, he didn’t have the truck. We had to travel another 5 minutes to a backwoods shop to pick it up. The truck I reserved wasn’t there so we had to take another one. After the move, I returned the truck and they tried to charge us another 7 miles of travel...AFTER I was told we had unlimited mileage. Next time, I’ll choose Penske.

I completed a reservation online through the website. The optional supplies (hand truck, dolly, and furniture pads) that I ordered were not provided. I returned the vehicle 30 minutes before it was due. I was billed for an additional day because the vehicle was officially checked in an hour and ten minutes after I returned it. I was also billed for the supplies even after I was told it would be removed from my bill. The most disturbing and aggravating part of this rental experience is that I was charged for damages to the vehicle that I did not do. Upon returning the vehicle, the UHAUL employee did not inspect my rental for damages in my presence. How can I be charged for damages that I did not do, or even assessed while I was still at the facility?

I was very happy with the U-Box service and would recommend it to anyone. The employees at the Riverdale location in the Bronx were extremely helpful and courteous. The arrival of my U-Box container was delayed by one day. That didn't bother me in the least. However, U-Haul called me about the delay and to ask if the U-Box could be delivered to a different location. It was left to me to contact the moving company that was delivering my U-Box and reschedule with them. Since I booked the moving company through U-Haul, I would have appreciated U-Haul contacted the moving company directly to reschedule.

Parking was totally unclear. Trucks were left all around the lot and individuals driving by themselves who don't have help backing up would have found it impossible to park. Additionally, I was rerouted to this location and because of the parkway restrictions, it was very confusing finding a route. UHaul should have GPS options for NYC

I was told gas tank was at 3/4. It was not. I took a picture before I started. I put $10.00 of gas in it. When I brought it back it had exactyly 3/4 tank. I told an employee. When I paid my bill the employee who signed me in was not there and the employee who processed my payment said nothing when I told him. I would not recommend this location! A RIP OFF!!!

Unrelated to 230th street: My booking was for a return to the location on West 23rd Street, who turned me away because it was full. They referred me up to 230th street, which took an extra two hours of my time getting there and back. The people at 230 were helpful, but I'm severely disappointed in uhaul overall. If the place was overbooked, why did it let me select it for return? Why didn't anyone tell me it was full? It's clearly your mistake, as the service providers, and it's unfair to make paying customers shoulder the burden of dealing with your logistical errors. Do better. I will not be using your services again.

Make sure the Equipment that someone has reserved is working properly and that it has a license plate. The lightning was not working properly and it did not have a license plate but was given the auto carrier anyway. It resulted in being a break down. When the service provider arrived he did all he could to repair a broken auto transporter that had several electrical issues which he couldn't do. When i asked for a replacement auto transport i was given the run arounds the manager was made aware of the situation and had his service rep suggest that because they refuse to let the service provider take the auto transport to their repair shop. I was told that i need to take it to their shop to be repaired and that the would fax me a paper plate for me to put on the auto transporter. I paid for a working unit and i received a unit with no license plate and electrical issues with lights. After a very heated argument over the phone an me requesting for a replacement and i strongly suggested. I paid for good service and i received poor service. Then after 30 minutes i receive a call back from the service rep saying that uhaul was finally giving me a replacement after all the back and fourth bickering and arguing. This location in opinion failed because it was supposedly been inspected and clearly released knowingly that it was not road worthy or safe. This waa a one way going to South Carolina. No only did the location fail but so did you emergency roadside assistance because of the way they handles the situation. Not the rep she was only relaying the message to me from manager. Who never called me himself, but found/made time to call the service provider an blame them for my actions for arguing to get a replacement. Which i did get. No customer should have to through being told to take a unit to the service shop for repairs or we not giving you a replacement.

NYC is huge. Try to give a guarantee where a truck will be on the rental day. Nerveracking, with expensive movers waiting, not to know until the day before where to pick up the truck. I was lucky. Luis did a good job.

This drop-off location was excellent BUT It was not the drop off location that we had picked (and confirmed by phone). When we arrived at the drop off location that we chose we were told that there was no space for the truck so we had to drive 30 minutes away to return the truck.

Couldn’t order online. Had to call which got rerouted to main number. Ordered 4 dollies. None available when I went to pick. Was not told it was 1st come, 1st served. Had to speak to manager. He gave me a discount but when I returned the truck the rep wanted to charge me extra for mileage and she couldn’t find discount notes. Overall a bad experience.

My experience at U-HAUL wasn’t a great one. When I asked Marvin D. about the promotion with the first month being free, he showed no type of interest in explaining. He wasn’t helpful at all. Horrible.
