Charged me $150 for "damage" to the vehicle. This was stated in fine print in an email attachment, and I only noticed it while reviewing my credit card statements later. Only after advocating for myself for a long time with customer service did they send me a picture of a broken light. The auto check in system seems glitchy. When I tried to do it. I entered both my cell number and email as well as the password I created. And it said failed. I tried the forgot password and never recieved a code. I had recieved emails and text from you but never the code. I went inside to check in and the clerk was very helpful and I was all set.Paula H.

"you're all set" after a recent rental means we have no issues with the returned vehicle and we have no need to make you aware of additional charges. That is what i thought that comment meant as it was made to me by the U-haul representative. Well I did receive an additional fuel charge and this was not commented to me when I returned the vehicle. I had put 3 gallons on gas in 2 minutes prior to the vehicle return. Poor customer service for not advising me that i would receive an additional charge. If there was some communication I could have discussed this upcharge at this point and explained that I put gas in the vehicle. 5 gallons of gas for a 27 mile trip seems like a lot. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE ON RETURN. I go to this location because the customer service at the one closer to my house is poor as well, as if i as a customer is a burden to them as i want to get propane or rent a vehicle. Maybe what I am noticing is poor customer services is the standard for U-Haul.BRIAN M.

The mileage was stated as 45,000 miles but had 57,000. The Uhaul employee could not correct this. It delayed us 40 minutes while he tried. The truck was full of water. We asked the employee to get the water out. He handed me the broom to get the water out. The truck front end was out of line and vibrated terribly when driving over 50 miles per hour. The truck should be removed from service. It was dangerous to drive and in very poor condition. I should be refunded my money. However to top off the experience the employee in Salem charge me 12,000 miles and put a $5000 charge to my credit card, to add insult to injury! Worst experience ever. They wrote down the trip odometer as the starting mileage then proceeded to charge me from the overall mileage when I came back. Suggested I call the call center to fix something that was done in a store I was physically standing in. Don't understand why I have to call a call center to fix something that was done in a location that I can physically walk-in. When you turn on their vans the trip mileage is twice the size and located in the middle of the screen. While the actual mileage is tiny located in the top left corner. Front bumper of the van had been broken prior to our rental, and it sounded as though there was other front end damage to the truck that had also not been repaired. We tried using the self-check in feature, which did not work, and the employees would not assist us as we had begun the self-check in, resulting in us not getting the keys to our truck until 45 min after our check in time. This was very disappointing as we had arrived early out of respect for everyone's time. Will not be renting from UHaul again, as the price does not seem to be worth the hassle.Daniel M.

I would not recommend this location because when I dropped off the truck on Sat. and told the staff member that I had trouble with the shifting, transmission, and the check engine light was on for 800 of my 1000 mile trip and had to call roadside assistance and the person that came out hooked the truck up to a machine that gave him a diagnostic scan it told him that there was a problem with the transmission and a mechanic need to look at it. I don't think that happened because I saw that same truck on the road Monday morning around 9am. That tells me they put this back on the road in an unsafe condition.Janet H.

I don't think that this location has a manager. The staff are completely unprofessional, ridiculously combative, and don't seem to know what they're doing (or they're so completely overworked and undertrained that they can't deal with customers?). There were issues with this rental from the beginning, and after a very rude agent told me to talk to a manager ("We're not gonna talk about this! You go talk to the manager. You're done talking to me, go inside and talk to him!") the person claiming to be a manager refused to deal with the issue, and didn't even give me a chance to speak before he started yelling. Basically, he said he was going to charge me whatever he felt like, whether I signed or not, and to f--- off. ("People man, you're so f---in' stupid!" he yelled, "Call 'Corporate!' You call Corporate and you complain to them! You call them and complain and you leave your bad review and you give them my name and you get me fired!" Then he spells out a name... Like I said, ridiculous. He never did explain who "Corporate" is, or give me a phone number to call. "This is private property! I'm gonna call the cops and have you removed from the premises." Then he just walked away.) Here's your bad review: I really think the dudes at this location either rented me a vehicle they didn't inspect when it was returned by the previous renter, and, realizing their mistake, were trying to fob off damage charges. OR: The first guy, who JUMPED ON THE BACK OF THE VAN--while I was sitting inside it, PUT A DENT IN THE TOP of the back and then tried to blame me for it. Rent somewhere else. The email I sent to the manager after my experience: I am writing this email in regards to feeling mistreated by your counter employee on 07/29/21 around roughly 3:30 pm. After returning a 17' uhaul earlier then the return time(5:00pm), with more gas the when we left and under the expected mileage, I was told that because there was a minimal amount of dust/dirt in the back that I would be charged an additional fee for having to clean up what most if not all would consider a trace amount of such. This seemed strange considering neither myself or the gentleman helping stepped in, tracked or loaded boxes with any dirt of any sort. In fact the vehicle was never pre-inspected with your team and myself present and such dirt was already present when initially opening the cargo when we began to load. Along with that the cabin smelled of fresh cigarette smoke and neither myself or the gentleman helping me smoke cigarettes. I read on the uHaul website that fees would be added for additional cleaning. While this is a gray area on several levels, nor me or the gentleman with me were told of any such fees upon arriving and picking up the truck that morning. The cleaning fee is a total of $25. Is this correct? After refusing to pay for such ridiculousness I requested to speak to the manager. At this time the actual polite employee working outside returned he relayed the managers message that â€œI can either pay the fee or clean it myselfâ€ but refused to come out and inspect it at all for himself. Instead leaving the polite teenager to resolve what I believe should be a manager or head staff members job. Then entering the building and requesting the manager I was told he is not in until tomorrow and that there was no way he would resolve the issue or pause the transaction until it were resolved. I reiterated the case along with its absolute ridiculousness and again was snuffed by your employee. This left me extremely frustrated along with happily insulting your spineless and lazy employeeâ€¦facts. To be clearâ€¦any insults said were meant and any made up or embellished by your employeeâ€¦were simply ones I missed. Like any man of principles I am happy to take responsibility for my actions along with not regretting them. I then proceeded back outside and apologized for any inconvenience I may have caused your polite employee. Myself and the gentleman accompanying me then proceeded to sweep out the truck, while video taping the action along with your polite employee approving it. The real irony is that before beginning to load the truck we swept out the dirt left prior to us obtaining it that morning. Here's where it gets a bit sticky. I was diagnosed epileptic about 5yrs ago. That said, high stress situations essentially induce epileptic seizures. Your counter employee without a doubt caused one seizure while still on your property with witnesses. Then again while out to dinner after receiving an email stating I had been charged not $25 but $50 for â€œcleaning feesâ€. So logic would state based on your policies that for $14 in insurance fees I could have totaled the vehicle and walked away scott free but because I didn't do a superior job cleaning a mess your employees initially left then again feeling forced along with given the ultimatum to do so, cleaning it in front of your employees upon return. While already feeling disrespected, ignored and stolen from upon leaving I proceeded to have the two seizures. The first leaving lacerations in my mouth, lower back strain along with a reactivated herniation in my upper back, between my C4 and C3 vertebrae. The second aggravating the condition to it's fullest extent. I'm sure you deal with disgruntled customers all the time. Maybe with causeâ€¦maybe without. However, this time your employee went to far. The money is not my motivation here at all. I left your establishment, returned home in pain and said to myself, â€œyou can't win them allâ€ just glad I didn't wake up in the hospital for the 6th time this year. Then, at dinner I received the improper bill via email. Again causing another seizure and more mental stress. I'm happy to provide all the medical documentation along with any other proof to show all these conditions if need be to your corporate office and/or in court. For the time being, while happy to pay my original agreed upon fees's, I'll settle and only settle for the termination of your counter employee and reimbursement of the â€œcleaning feesâ€. I'm sure after corporate and the courts hear about my tragic near death epileptic caused car accident nearly one year ago, along with the severe medical issues and the fact that I was helping my mother move after her husband of 53yrs, my father died on this June 5thâ€¦only to be so mistreatedâ€¦they'll be happy to resolve the problem per my request if it's something you as a manager can't handle. Please provide accurate and clear information that this has been resolved properly by 3:00pm today. I have a scheduled meeting with my lawyer at 3:30 and have researched what I believe are the proper channels to contact Uhaul's corporate office. Or you can provide me with the correct contact next step in pursuing the mental distress and physical pain directly caused by your employee. If this matter is not resolved by 3:00pm today I will stand diligently by my principles and continue without hesitation to move forward at any and all legal/principle basedNathan N.

I went in to return the rental 7/27/21. Sat in the hot truck for approximately 30mins with no one attending to me. Finally a guy came walking n told me to leave the key in the truck. I also went in to return my storage unit n no one was at the desk. An African American, I'm assuming came in. While talking to him, he kept walking off talking at the same time. Everything has been great with the exception that out of the few times i have visited, the doors for entry were only working properly once. One time the key card entry system was not working at all, as well as the large load in doors, and most recently i was able to use the key card entry but the load in doors were still not operating meaning both times I had to prop the doors open and lift my loads through the small door one by one. 1. I reserved a 5*10*8 1st floor storage on 2/24/2021 for $74.95 with reservation number#796049-00117857. However, When I went to the office, they told me that was the old price and the same unit I reserved would be $99.95. 2. reserved a vehicle indoor storage on 2/24/2021 for $64.95 with reservation#796049-00117857. I double check with the staff in the office on 2/27/2021 and he confirmed the storage will fit my car. I made the payment $64.95 and storage my vehicle on 2/28/2021 following the staff's assistance. However, I received another $47.85 charge and the rate for the storage changed to $119 on the second day. The manager told me that I am free to move my car someone else, however that would not be an option for me because I am out of the state. This is not a good business.Yan C. | First Impressions

The gentleman who helped me, William Da Cruz, set up my storage unit and the return of my rental truck was an absolute pleasure to deal with! Your staff working hard. The line wasn't long. The gator nylon masks they wear won't protect well with the COVID-19 virus. I saw they also were slipping. Two outside guys didn't wear masks & in RI it's mandated. You should try to purchase a tight fitting masks for fall into winter or you'll have staff sick.Anne M. | First Impressions

I had interacted with a few employees over the past two days. Most of them were great and I would give five stars. The gentlemen that booked my truck was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. His mask was off, explaining the system poorly, would not make eye contact, responded very short and was rude in general. It reflected poorly on the other great employees. I can't give it more than 3 stars due to having an issue w the elevator while we were moving in. The elevator literally stopped working and when we called for help no one came. We rang the help button and waited for close to 15 minutes. When no one came we went to the office and finally a lady staff told the guy of the situation but he was busy and came over after he finished what he was doing. We had to carry stuff up to the second floor a few times before the manager came and fixed the elevator about 20min after the guy left and told us there was nothing more he could do and there is no other elevator for the storage place. The staff was nice but there should be another elevator or a staff specifically answering the people at the storage units. Thank god no one was stuck inside of the elevator because we would have been out of luck. Besides the elevator situation it was not a bad move in.Crystal N. | First Impressions

Staff was extremely rude and dismissive.rented a truck and a storage unit. Called to move in. Told us we can't because no move ins after 4:30. Well no one told us that. Called to extend my U-Haul rental. Kept getting hung up on. Staff saying"we should of thought about how long we needed the truck" when we planned to move in the same day but NO ONE INFORMED US WE WOULDNT BE ABLE TO. Next day comes around and we go to rent a unit at U-Haul Pawtucket 5x10 ... elevator breaks... we are offered little options to solve this and not even an apology from staff. End up renting a 10x10 in another building having to walk all of the stuff we already moved through the building over the bridge across another building to our unit. Again, no help or compensation offered from staff. I understand that things happen no one can control a broken elevator.
