Every time I called I got different information. Please train you staff!! They are there, willing to work, giving information they think is correct- that many people can ALL BE MESSING WITH A CUSTOMER FOR THE HECK OF IT! But on guy did hang up! Embrassed probably because he didn't know the answer, after he gave me one and I questioned it didn't make sense because I had an email that said something different. So he said he'd asked to which I said yes please if you don't knowâ€¦click! I went in to pay CASH for my shipping my bad my debit card has a limit BUT after calling from Monday- 2/3 times a day last agent Susan (40mins) said YES I can pay cash at the warehouse. The guy that helped said No â€œgave upâ€ when he couldn't â€œseeâ€ or â€œfigure it outâ€. I said I was told so I said I am calling backâ€¦I walked back in holding the agent on the phone to said yesâ€¦but not she wasn't sure where to go. I said she'll walk you thought it. Ugh! She was not sure, maybe they were looking at two different screens!? Ugh finally like releasing the ego, the guy said I'll ASK MY SUPERVISOR!! What the Heck, I was there for ages!! Did he not believe me!! With 1474 $ in cash!! Why the heck couldn't he ask 2mins shit 5mins after looking around the screen- save me calling waiting etc ugh! I want to say it's NOT his fault because he needs to be trained BUT yeah, his fault for giving up and not flipping asking! and I was so nice, because I already knew Uhaul has hired people but doesn't take the time, effort or money to make the ship run smoothly. Uhaul could be so much better! I will share this experience if anyone asks!tara B.

The team in NY was outstanding with great communication. The team in CA overbooked and could not deliver the containers to us on the promised date and time, but they recommended we hire movers to pick them up and bring them to us for loading which we did.Heather-Jean T.

So my complaint starts with the Poughkeepaie store when I requested several days in advance a 26' truck and reserved it for this past Saturday 10/2 and I was contacted the day before saying that they didn't have a truck nor would they. After me complaining they found a 20 foot truck all the way over in Newburgh that I had to accept since I was moving the next day. As we both know I'm charged by the damn mile which jacked my rental cost up more than I should have paid. I also requested a dolly (which I still didn't use but of course was charged for) and a utility dolly. So I go out to Newburgh again way out of my way get the smaller truck that I requested (again in advance) the truck is backed up hanging over a downhill slope so I thought everything would be fine. I get all the way back home and find the utility dolly is not in the back of the truck. I called the Newburgh store and the lady says well we won't charge you for it..... well it's a appliance dolly of course I need it. So she offered me to come back again out of my way and said no I need to get one in poughkeepsie. Both stores failed me more poughkeepsie than Newburgh and I've rented from you guys several times in the past and will never again. The frustration I had built up when I returned and of course not a offer of any discount for the horrible experiences I had. I will never ever be back to a uhaul store after this. We could not imagine a much worse experience. After being told when reserving that we could leave the box on the street, the morning of our delivery we were told we could not leave the box on the street without a permit. I ran out and spent money on a permit and got back to uhaul by 11am to finalize delivery, but they told me it was too late. I had to spend two full work days on the phone with about 30 (really not exaggerating) different uhaul customer service agents, most of whom made no attempt to help and only said there was nothing they could do, to eventually get a delivery scheduled two days later than my original date instead of 4 days later which would have been too late. Unfortunately that still left us with not enough time to fully pack the boxes, we were forced to spend about 24 straight hours packing the boxes on our last day in New York and we ended up having to leave a fair amount of stuff behind. What a nightmare, but it's not over, because when the boxes arrived in Colorado, one of them was BOLTED CLOSED. Like bolts through washers through the door of the box and then through the frame. We called uhaul to see what had happened and what they would do about it and no one would do anything. Eventually we were told to go to a uhaul store, but when we went there they just told us to go buy a wrench. On the nightmarish New York end, multiple agents filed multiple complaints and told us that a marketing company president would reach out once they looked into our situation. That was a month ago and no one ever reached out. On the Colorado end, we filed another complaint and received an email offering is 100 dollars off the $2600+ Service for the two days the boxes were late and 15 dollars for the wrench and crowbar we eventually had to go buy when the company refused to do anything. So that's two days late, a good deal of belongings left behind, a 60 dollar permit nobody told us we needed (and which the driver who eventually dropped off the boxes told us he did not need), 30 dollars on wrenches, and â€" I kid you not â€" about 14 hours on the phone, though mostly on hold, with uhaul. They offered 115 dollars off the service, no apologies, no accountability, and no call from the boss who we were told would help remedy things. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. The company lacks the organizational skills to operate it, and there is no accountability at all.Kerry C.

Have the damage verifications inputted into your database. I can understand one update that a customer will need to do / find, but I found several. I feel like I was doing U-Hauls work for them without compensation. Additionally, the U-Haul truck was scummy and grimey. It had grime all throughou the cup holders and dashboard. I cleaned this and returned the Uhaul in better condition than I recieved it. Again, while the last customer may have been charged for negligance, I feel like I was doing U-Haul's employees work without being compensated. Additionally, I rented a 20' truck from Middletown which was moved to franklin NJ (45 miles away). I then reserved a 15' truck in Middletown which was then moved to Newburgh. I needed to spend my own personal time because U-Haul over-promised and underdelivered their services. Again, I feel like I did the work that should have been done by an employee.Matthew G.

Some of the staff were friendly and helpful (Javon in particular was very nice), but many were consistently unresponsive and curt. The worst by far was Jamie Mapes who was absolutely awful during the recent flood at Middlehope facility. I called her number a half a dozen times and texted her - with ZERO reposes. Her staff tried to be helpful, but they had not been trained in what to say to customers and caused huge stress and miscommunication. Moreover, the UHaul policies regarding flood-damaged storage units is totally unacceptable - with UHaul staff telling customers "we threw away anything in your unit that was wet" and not giving clear advance notice of this action. I will never use UHaul again, for storage or trucks, and I will openly talk about the unfair and horrible customer service. We lost 40% of our storage contents to flood and mold damage, and we were told that "maybe some items were thrown away" with no inventory or photos provided to us. It was a horrendous experience. On top of that, the mold that we found in our contents was much older than the recent flood event, which means that the flooding has been happening for months or even years, with NO notification to the customers.Lisa C. | Overall Experience

I have never been treated so poorly by a company in my life. I had endless issues and terrible customer service. No managers called me back when asked, I was charged incorrectly multiple times and in the end had to go to facebook to get the regional offices number to help. I called everyday for a month trying to get my money back that was incorrectly charged and weeks to get another payment back and more weeks to get someone to help me get them off my land. I was so excited for this service and for a large corporation you should have it together, but nothing was done right. I also learned that all your truck drivers are being over worked and are not being compensated for all their hours to hid the fact they are going over the legal hours allowed on the road. That's super dangerous and a horrible way to treat the employees. The drivers were the only pleasant interactions I had the entire time.Katherine D.
tThe man who delivered the containers in CT clipped a wire to my home. The man who delivered the containers to NC parked the traier too close to the stairs there. Also, there was a metal plate screwed to one of the containers and I had to go to a hardware store and buy a star shaped drill bit to get the container opened. The ramps from the trailer to the ground were not secuered and both colapsed on one side when i was carrying out some of my belongings. I almost fell with boxes in my arms. Not cool at all.Adell M.

The truck we reserved was not there. We were forced to rent a smaller truck and had to drive it both ways vs the one way we reserved. In addition all of the maintenance lights were on on the dashboard. I did not feel safe driving this truck. Also, the staff was very rude. I am requesting a call back from management. I arrived at location and had to go looking for someone to help me. The van was dirty on outside and seats were filthy inside. I had to vacuum the van when I brought it home. The worst experience I ever had period, even U-haul employees admitted that. I ordered a Box to ship my furniture from NY to OR. Uhaul made promises that my stuff will arrive safely and on time. It was very hard to get commitments for the day of delivery and pick-up of the UBox at the starting location. The estimate for how long it would take to have the box transported to the destination was 10 days greater than actually occurred. This prevented us from packing on a more convenient day. Phone calling often required being transferred at least once. My UBox reservation did not show on my UHaul account page.Richard F.

The location, and customer service were fine. The online check in is also great. However, it seems like the gas gauge needs to be looked at. I drove only 36 miles, and almost used 1/4 tank of gas. That seems like a lot for only 36 miles. Other than that, everything was great!Renee G.

They changed our reservation without consent, demanded we return the truck so someone else can use it. Called me all day and harassed me to return it. Would not recommend this U-Haul location to anyone. Unprofessional, demanding, and harassing with false information. And I quote â€œbring the uhaul back, you are breaching contract and we will charge you many nor additional feesâ€. The truck was also smelled like beer and cigarettes when we picked it up and the uhaul was severely scratched compared to the prior picture they provided. Will not recommend this location to anyone! Document mileage correctly. When I returned the truck, the man behind the counter took the keys, and asked me if I had an email in file. I did, and he told me I'd receive the receipt through email. Later when I received it, I was shocked to see how many miles they charged me for. I drove approximately 35 miles and I was charged for over 200. I never even left Newburgh. Now I have to go back tomorrow and dispute the charges.Sheree D.

It was impossible to get customer service on the phone. I had to drive 25 minutes two times to get through to someone for pick up and delivery. When I made the reservation, the representative made it sound like I could reserve any day for pick up and delivery but that wasn't the case. It was like a week window for both which made it extremely stressful with two closings on houses happening a week apart. I would never recommend this service to anyoneNAOMI C.
Veda was extremely helpful before my move and the man who checked me back in (started with a J) was also helpful. Unfortunately, the furniture dolly was covered in black grease that got ony furniture and clothes AND the truck had no A/C And bad windshield wiper blades, making driving at night on the rain very difficult. Most of the time when I interacted with staff, the staff member was helpful. When I finally moved all of my belongings out during the week of May 23,2021, I experienced my first and only hiccup! Due to the fact I was paying for 2-different units and I emptied both out within a week of each other, a staff member erroneously confirmed my move-out for my 2nd unit albeit it was not for the correct unit… At the end, I'm grateful I wasn't charged additional fees and left U-Haul as a satisfied customer. Something to keep in my, there is NO pro-rating, so if a customer moves out & still has up to 29-days left in their unit, there is NO refund. Good to know.Stephanie G. | Overall Experience

The hike in rental fees in the middle of the pandemic was very unwelcoming and financially burdensome, especially as it was announced with very short notice. Upon arrival the young lady was very nice and helpful. She assign a unit handed me my papers work and off I went to check the space out. When I lift the gate the unit floor was dirty. Although disappointed, I went back to customer service desk but the young lady was already gone. I ask the young man for a broom and a pick up to sweep out the unit space, he was very confused why I would be ask6for a broom so I proceeded to explain my situation in hand.
