U-Haul has by far the worst customer service I've had to deal with in a very VERY long time. There was nothing wrong with the actual storage, the delivery man was very pleasant and accommodating, and the people on the phone were as helpful as they COULD be - HOWEVER - it took me dozens of calls to different numbers, and spending dozens of hours, to get anyone who could actually help me with any scheduling issues. The billing was also inaccurate, and when I finally did get someone apparently your systems were unable to correct the problem. I have since received about a dozen emails and texts about "my U-Box delivery is scheduled for..." when I have already retrieved the content of my boxes and am done with your service. From a systems and customer service perspective, you guys are a mess... U-Haul need a complete OVER-HAUL.

No understanding for financial problems. My account was hacked and they took over 3 grand took 3 months to fix. I tried to pay half the bill but would not work with me. Was not helpful at all except to demand my full payment which was my whole pay check. P.s. don't know how we are eating this week.

they hooked the ball upside down, so the connection was low to the ground. They also did not tighten the bolt on the bottom of the ball. Luckily, I made it safely, but it could have been a disaster.

it was disappointing to have only one cashier who was talking a family having a long casual conversation about non-work related issues while i waited to ask "is there anything else i need to do to return the vehicle?" - after waiting a prolonged period of time (over 5-10 min), i walked outside and the person helping to deal with equipment returns confirmed that i was complete once returning the key. not professional to make a line (people in line behind me also) wait to have a prolonged personal conversation with a customer and this employee is the reason i would hesitate to have someone come to this location - otherwise, taking this cashier causing me to wait 5-10 min out of the equation, 5 star experience

I received good customer service from this location. I extended my pick up date a number of times and they were always accommodating. When calling the Uhaul numbers back that called me regarding scheduling pick up, it would take a long time to finally speak with someone and I'd be put on hold multiple times. I was using the unit for temporary storage, which I had stated when I rented. I wish the moving blankets weren't in it because they took up an entire corner. The delivery man couldn't take them I guess, but I understood that.

The boxes were supposed to be delivered and when I did not receive a text about delivery time. I called in to find out what was going on. I was told that my delivery date had been postponed because I did not answer a phone call from them. I had in fact answered all phone calls received from them. When I asked when this phone call was made that I was supposedly unavailable for, I was told there is no record of when that phone call had been made. I made sure repeatedly with the follow up scheduling for the new delivery date, and everything went smoothly. I should not have to be so diligent to get your team to do their job. Also, when I was given my refund for the unused u-box, there was by my math according to the receipts, $5.75 missing from the refund.

I was charged $50 for a cleaning fee for a the open 6x12 trailer. I made sure there was trailer was “clean” when I dropped it off as I've rented these trailers multiple times. I called this location and they could not tell me what was in the trailer that they had to clean and would not refund it to me.

I was picking up the trailer with my stop-son. He is a Class A CDL truck driver and I am an ex Class A CDL truck driver. We know the requirements for lights on trailers. When the employee at the location hooked up the trailer, he plugged in the lights for the trailer without checking to see if the headlights on our rental truck were off. This blew the fuse for the trailer towing module, unknown to us. The blown fuse allowed the brake lights, turn signals, and emergency flashers to come on, but prevented the marker lights from coming on. He told us that that was all he needed to check and we were good to go. We explained to him that while U-Haul may not require the marker lights to work, federal law does require them on a two-axle trailer. He went and got the manager who came out and when we explained to him what the problem was, he said we could do some troubleshooting, but that most likely it was a blown fuse on the truck as trucks come in all the time with blown fuses. We explained to him that this was a brand new, 2022 rental truck with less than 4000 miles on the truck. He told us that was fine, and we would do some troubleshooting to make sure the problem was in the truck, but if we drove off before the problem was fixed, he would call the cops on us!!!??? We then finally got it through his head that my son is a licensed truck driver and if he drove off with a non-operational trailer, he could lose his license. We did the troubleshooting and finally did find the fuse that blew when the employee plugged the lights in with the truck headlights on. We disconnected the trailer and went to find a fuse to replace it with as the store didn't have one of the correct size. We found one and replaced it and came back and finally got underway with the trailer, as the marker lights worked after we replaced the fuse. We also let the truck rental business know not to let the U-Haul employees plug in the plug for the lights on trailers if the headlights were on on the truck. If the manager had not threatened us with calling the cops on us for no apparent reason, this would still have been a 5 star review.

When we picked up the trailer in Atlanta and it was attached to our UHAUL installed hitch, we knew it was sitting to low but we are NOT the experts. However, throughout our drive we smelt burning and felt it was way too low and unsafe. Upon dropping it off at the Newburgh location, THAT WAS CONFIRMED BY A UHAUL EMPLOYEE who literally said "thank god you made it safe". Absolutely ludicrous that a company would send clients on their way with unsafe equipment. I will gladly pay more at any alternative company than EVER utilize UHAUL again.

Delivery person was unprepared and delivered container without proper goods to safely secure the container damaged my lawn while driving over it due to unexperienced capabilities while backing a trailer showed up with a trailer with no wheel chocks could not safely leave it in the area that needed to be. Had to have my neighbor come up and hook onto it relocate the trailer and safely secure it so that we could unload it in a safe manner due to the fact that U-Haul left it in an unsafe condition and unable to be unloaded

Strangely, no staff was readily available in the store or at the return when I arrived. Two other renters were returning equipment as well and arrived before me. A call to the support number helped since they were able to locate staff. All went smooth afterwards.

I had a HUGE problem due to the online reservation. I went there and apparently I no longer had a storage unit available. We literally just moved all of our stuff from a dirty filled with bugs from another storage unit of a different company, we had to wait their 30 days (which is why we reserved the date for a later date). It was hot outside that day. I asked for price adjustment for the item I asked for since it was gone but this guy at this location went above and beyond to help us. Everytime we went back they all were very friendly.....Funny thing is 7 years ago same thing happened with a truck rental that I only reserved 1 day before and a different guy literally said O well. And I didn't remember why I refused to go that location until this happened again. But that gentlemen definitely restored faith.

Some of the staff were friendly and helpful (Javon in particular was very nice), but many were consistently unresponsive and curt. The worst by far was Jamie Mapes who was absolutely awful during the recent flood at Middlehope facility. I called her number a half a dozen times and texted her - with ZERO reposes. Her staff tried to be helpful, but they had not been trained in what to say to customers and caused huge stress and miscommunication. Moreover, the UHaul policies regarding flood-damaged storage units is totally unacceptable - with UHaul staff telling customers "we threw away anything in your unit that was wet" and not giving clear advance notice of this action. I will never use UHaul again, for storage or trucks, and I will openly talk about the unfair and horrible customer service. We lost 40% of our storage contents to flood and mold damage, and we were told that "maybe some items were thrown away" with no inventory or photos provided to us. It was a horrendous experience. On top of that, the mold that we found in our contents was much older than the recent flood event, which means that the flooding has been happening for months or even years, with NO notification to the customers.

The manager was very rude and nasty! his name is Javon Drye. I paid for a storage unit 5X7 and they gave me was 4X5 I told him about it and he got angry and yelled at me in front of other customers! I just left.

Most of the time when I interacted with staff, the staff member was helpful. When I finally moved all of my belongings out during the week of May 23,2021, I experienced my first and only hiccup! Due to the fact I was paying for 2-different units and I emptied both out within a week of each other, a staff member erroneously confirmed my move-out for my 2nd unit albeit it was not for the correct unit… At the end, I'm grateful I wasn't charged additional fees and left U-Haul as a satisfied customer. Something to keep in my, there is NO pro-rating, so if a customer moves out & still has up to 29-days left in their unit, there is NO refund. Good to know.

The hike in rental fees in the middle of the pandemic was very unwelcoming and financially burdensome, especially as it was announced with very short notice. In general, the storage was not as clean as it should have been, the moving carts and elevator always felt dirty and the space needed better ventilation.
