My experience was terrible. I rented a 9' van & dolly for 2 days-a person walked me through the process on line while one the phone. I specifically wanted a van because I am petite and did not want the stress of having to deal with a truck. The van's measurements published online was what I packed to. I got a text saying that the location for pick up had changed. It never changed on my reservation online. I was prompted to check in online. The website would not allow me to. I also at that time noticed my 2 day rental was changed to a week long rental. I called customer servicecrepeatedly to help change it, they told me everything on "their end" was correct. I rented the van on a Monday and called every day up until the day to pick it up, to have the rental information corrected; was never corrected on line. I got to the location and found I had a truck NOT a van, the guy, Marty, said "we sent you a text", I never got a text. He then proceeded to make it like he was saving me money/doing me a favor by fixing my week rental back to the original 2 day rental that I wanted, finding me a dolly (which I rented/had in my contract but lo and behold there was none at the location) and like he was doing me a favor by "upgrading" me to a truck-which I did NOT want but now had no choice since I had to keep to my schedule. The truck was filthy, the mirrors were stuck (I had a neighbor come over with his tool box to help get them adjusted so I could see) the drivers side door lock was broken/got stuck from the inside so someone from the out side had to open it for me; there was no lock for the back hatch-I was told "oh just pick one up at Walmart you can get them for 5 bucks". By this point I was beyond livid-you have got to be kidding me-now I have to take $ time out fo my schedule to get a lock for a truck I didn't request?? Marty kept stressing how lucky I was that I got upgraded, that it sounded like my stuff wouldn't fit in the cargo van any way & that the measurement (the measurements I went by) on line were "the old, bigger vans" and that I would have needed a truck anyway and was doing me a favor. If I had wanted a truck I would have rented a truck, It's not up to U Haul or Marty to decide what I want. If the measurements of the cargo vans were correct, I'd have had no problem packing accordingly. I drove the truck because I had no choice and needed to move. The weather was terrible with blinding driving rain. As I said, I have a petite stature & It was hard for me to reach things in the cab of the truck. Tire warning lights and written warning came one during the worst of the rainstorm -I was later told " oh those sensors are sometimes faulty". Really? The guy on the lot I dealt with gave off such a creepy vibe that my neighbor would not leave me there alone. Seriously. These are but a few of the highlights to one of my worst experiences as a customer. I feel taken advantage of, baited & switched. If I wasn't so pissed off, I doubt I would have had such an "easy" time getting my week rental changed back to the 2 day rental it was supposed to be in the 1st place. I have mentioned this experience to friends, family and neighbors. I will never be doing business with U Haul again, nor will theyNaomi S.

The truck was clean just had a very strong stinky cigarette smoker smell inside. It was obvious that the person who rented it before us was a cigarette smoker and smoked in the truck. Next time I rent a truck I will check it out to make sure it's not in the same stinky conditionStephanie F.

My reservation was changed to this location due to equipment availability. In the process of changing to this location, my reservation changed from 2 days to a 1 day rental. I wasn't aware of the change when I picked up the truck. As it turned out, I was 1 1/2 hour late because of this.JAMES G.

U-haul problem in general! Whether I reserve a trailer 1 month ,2 weeks or 4 days ahead of time there is never a guarantee that I will have a trailer and extremely nerve racking not knowing whether that day I will have a trailer or not!!! One young lady working from what I could tell. She immediately came to the truck and told me where to leave the trailer. I backed the trailer in and before I could make it to the back of my truck she had already unhooked it. Much better experience than Charlotte.ADAM W.

Though the layout of this location is different and hard to find from the road, the fact that the closing employee checked my tow dolly in even after I arrived after closing time made this experience top notch.BRIAN R.
Not only was the location very close to me, the staff was over the top for their customers and extremely friendly and helpful. I didn't use my total mileage and they helped with the price adjustment. In the past, at other locations, the employees haven't always seemed as if they loved their job, but, this location was very different. These guys had a Chick-fil-A customer service style. These guys made sure I was in and out as fast as possible and made sure I understood and had everything I needed. I will be back to this location!Gordon B.

Seemed a little disinterested in customer service. Spoke to the direction of the computer which made it difficult to understand if he was asking me a question or just talking to himself. Instead of explaining that he didn't have the cart and blankets to fulfill the order, the employee asked questions and when I awkwardly explained what I really needed, he was grateful because they didn't have the cart or blanket quantities on my reservation. Friendly one the check-in process was complete, but otherwise seemed disinterested.John K.

I rented a 10ft truck and drove it 21 miles. Just before drop off I put 2.251 gallons of gas in the truck, returning the needle to same position as it was upon pickup. To my surprise I was charged for 2 more gallons of gas, or $9. What this means is they are saying that I only got 4.94 mph during this rental. I was grossly overcharged, as they should have not charged me for gasoline. I expect full reversal of this gas charge. To make matters worse the customer service person hung up the phone on me when I persisted for an explanation as to why they charged me for gasoline since the needle was exactly how it was oickRAYMOND GLENN T.

The agent told me the van had some dog hair in passenger seat. There was dog hair everywhere, piles on the floor, on the door, used face masks, it was literally DISGUSTING. I did not have time to go in and say anything as our van reservation was for 10:30 and did not get til 1:30. I took pictures if you want me to send to you. I had to cover the seats with plastic so that we could sit on them without getting dirty. I have rented many of vans over the past two years and this was UNACCEPTABLE. I SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN GIVEN KEYS UNTIL IT WAS CLEANED.Jennifer B.

The system you have for self pick up is not good. Expecting contacts to be sitting by their phones for verification is ridiculous. A picture of your license and your face should be more than enough. Perhaps even a picture of a second form of ID. What happens if someone's contact is suddenly not available. How would you pick up the rental.john M.

Lower the extra fees . The 19.95 for the day cost me $54.00 . I had the van for 3 hrs and drove 38 miles. I had collision insurance through Geico that is good for any vehicle that I drive. Your company will not recognize that. Your advertisement is in reality false advertising. Next time I'll use Penske or Ryder.Brian G.

The entire process what awful, except for the staff at the Myrtle Beach location. Booking it online caused for me to be booked for moving help x3 but no actual container and when it was resolved over the phone it actually wasn't. Of it wasn't for my movers and the staff at the uhaul location I wouldn't have been able to complete my move when I needed to. The entire process is a mess and needs to be fixed.Margaret M.
Answer the phone. Called for three hours no answer. 3 other people tried for me no one answered. We all tried to contact online, site kept saying, LOADING. This was just the beginning. Truck back door would not close. Both uhaul stores were rude to me. Yesterday the general manager called me. When I called back the call was disconnected. This also happened when trying to contact the store. Inside the cab was food from the previous customer. Windshield wipers were leaving a wet spot in the window blocking my vision. The cab smelled like cigarettes, we had to leave the window open the entire trip, 800 miles.Michael K.

The online reservation process was poor. My pick up location was changed 3 times even after talking with customer service and being assured of my primary pick up location. Trying to speak with a customer service rep was very frustrating and time consuming. Secondly, some customer service reps passed the buck. Could not get to anyone who could help. The last customer service rep I spoke with who was located in Charlotte, NC was very rude.Jesse H.
When dropping off truck, had to wait for female worker to help couple who wanted to rent a truck for a future move over a month out. She took her time with them and I had to wait a very long time, after moving all afternoon. She could've taken us who were waiting for drop off and others, and then helped with a future reservation. complaint is the trailer I rented to haul my car had very bald tires on the drivers side on the trailer. Nobody should be given this kind of rental vehicles with very bald tires and expect the customer to drive 700+ miles. The response I got when I notified the Uhaul employee was " oh it'll probably be okay ". This to me was a serious infraction and I am going to further investigate this issue. These kind of things change many lives and even kills people. I'm an older gentleman and I have experienced what a bald tire can do. Can be very serious situations arise from being ignorant and ignoring an obvious problem. The good news is ; we made it to our destination and grateful that nothing happened. Could have been a whole other outcome. I suggest employee training on tire maintenance and tread tolerations. In rhis case there was no tolerence measureable.
