EXCELLENT SERVICE
CATALINO JThe gas tank had only 1/4 tank and there was no washer fluid. Otherwise, it was fine.
MICHAEL JI got my U-Haul truck and everything went fine. Employees were not the friendliest at all. I ended up needed my truck longer and it was after hours so I went online through the email I got sent and extended my rental. They called me the next day yelling at us that we were late with the truck and needed it now even though I had extended my time with it. I called customer service and they saw my extension but I got two different answers for when they needed it back so I ended up just returning it anyways. It was too much stress and I didn't get to move everything I needed. Needless to say they were rude and I won't use that location again.

JAMES GThis was one of the best rental experiences of my life with Uhaul, which I have been a long time customer of. The owner of this location on Erie Boulevard in Syracuse New York took wonderful care of me and gave me one of the new trucks which was phenomenal. She always is so kind and friendly and welcoming. I admire her for running a business so well and with such a friendly atmosphere the owner was wonderful. The experience with the equipment was terrific. I recommend this location to anyone who will go there. It is the finest location in central New York, and maybe one of the finest locations in the northeast if you want friendly, welcoming service and top-notch quality for good value then go to Uhaul Erie Boulevard Syracuse!

RICHARD SMake sure the fuel in the car matches the contract. My contract said 3/4 of a tank but it was half full and I have a picture before I started driving it.

David S | First ImpressionsThe truck seemed to have a transmission issue... it only had a 1/4 tank of gas... the rep had issues finding a truck that had any gas at all... I usually go to the other location nearby, but I needed a particular size truck because of the size of the materials I needed to transport. And I would really appreciate if you could create a consistent process for renting a vehicle. It seems to be different every time I rent a vehicle, and I rent often. And it would be great if you could create a special category for those that rent vehicles often... I had reserved the truck the day before in hopes that I could expedite the process, and that definitely did not happen... I'm paying for labor by the hour, and to have to stop and repeatedly go through this long process is frustrating. Rep told me that the system doesn't store any information, like driver's licenses and passports, even though your system requires that I upload photos of the back & front each and every time, is hard to believe. There's got to be a better way...

MARCUS LI received equipment that the transmission didn't want to switch correctly on the first truck I took out and the second truck, the passenger door didn't open from the outside. So the maintenance people that work there don't do a inspection on the vehicles like they are supposed to do.

GEOFFREY RTrucks are old and need to be replaced. For the New York State area ALL WEATHER TIRES SHOULD BE PUT ON THE TRUCKS. MOSTOF TRUCKS I SEE HAVE A ARIZONA TAGS. SO WE GET THE OLD TRUCKS FROM ARIZONA WITH TIRES BAD TIRES. A LAW SUIT WILL COST YOU MORE THAN REPLACING TIRES.
YASMIN TThe use of one elevator for 100 of tenants is ridiculous. We waited over 45 mins to utilize the elevator for 2 items. Requesting assistance from the front desk was as if we were asking for too much and was told that it's first come first serve. We were then told that we would be billed for 30 days of services when items were removed prior to billing. Account is closed with this facility and we will not be returning.

KEVIN AYour employee Andrew did great. However, I couldn't get the app to work correctly -- internet connectivity problems. Good thing I wasn't standing out in the parking lot after hours. App is ridiculous anyway. I had checked in online and imagined it would be easy to pick up the truck and go. The app was very slow and demanded front and back license photos again plus two head shots uploaded. Then when I tried to verify the truck info it gave me an error message claiming the link could only be used within the app. What did it think I was trying to do? Then it froze. I gave up.
Carol BStorage rental was under expectations cobwebs in the corners very hard to see at night because no lighting also false advertising on first month being free it says if you rent a truck you could get the first month free but I was told when I got there you have to be moving out of town in order for it to be the first month free that wasn’t in the ad

ARIANNY CThe lady was efficient, but too robotic to want to deal with again. The truck she gave us had obvious engine issues and after just hitting the outskirts of town (we were traveling 66 miles round trip) the check engine light popped on. We were able to complete our trip but it was hazardous at best as the drivers side visor kept falling into my line of sight once almost totally obscuring the road ahead. I told the lady I did not want the insurance (on hindsight this might have been for the best) she added it to my charges anyway. All in all my worst experience ever renting a vehicle.

I did not sign up to hear this. My small business spends thousands of dollars with Uhaul each year and I have done so for over 8 years. Based on this experience I am actively seeking an alternate rental provider.

The van I rented was impeccably clean as it standardly is and the rental process was more like a visit with good friends than a business transaction. Stephen BReserves both a truck and storage the storage was supposed to have a free first month upon arriving to to location they told me I would not be reviving a free first month at ANY location after I called to confirm prior they said they call center has been doing this for MONTHS. Then the truck that we recived sounded like it had a muffler issue. The woman who was behind the counter was also extremely rude. And not trying to help resolve any issues we were having unfortunately I did NOT catch her name

DEBORAH HIt was dirty inside with old cigarettes and soda or something spilled in cup holders, the padlock on the back hatch was broken and there were no furniture pads inside, I'm guessing due to no working lock. Waiting to see if I'm going to have to fight about getting charged for that. First and last time probably at that location.

JAMES B | Overall ExperienceI was very disappointed by the unit I rented. It was an 8x8 unit that was supposed to be climate controlled and clearly was not. It was an outside unit with old windows that were barely held in place. Because it was barely protected from the elements all of my stuff in storage was covered in dead bugs, rodent feces, and feathers. It was absolutely unacceptable and if you care about your stuff be sure to store it someplace else.

william c | Overall ExperienceThe staff didn't seem to know what they was doing on my first visit. I made a reservation and on the reservation it was showing free storage but when I got to the location after waiting 30 mins in a very long line Andrew B couldn't find my reservation and I ended up leaving without a storage unit and have to return the next day to get a storage unit prior to my arrival. The next day I spoke with a customer service representative from at U-Haul her name was Yavonne and she said that I was supposed to be offered a free unit which I was not happy about paying $134 and got up charged of 48 to extend the U-Haul for the next day because I had no unit to storage my personal items and my reservation could not be found, even with providing Andrew B my reservation number and showing him my reservation on the app and which I completed the reservation for the truck and the unit I was there for over two hours, trying to figure things out and still had to return the next day to get a unit that was supposed to have been free. And furthermore, the unit that was given to me had a big balance beam or support beam inside my unit which hindered me from some of my personal things. I am not happy with my unit and the facility was so filthy I did not even feel comfortable with storing my things, but had no other options given The fact that my card was charged several times my funds was depleted due duplicate charges that was made when trying to complete my storage contract with Andrew B. Then when I came to move my stuff into the unit the freight elevator was broken, and we was told by staff that the guy would be there to fix it in 20 minutes. I waited for someone to come and fix the freight elevator me and several other individuals. This experience was by far the worst experience I've had with U-Haul and the the truck that was give to me was not at all suitable to be driving. The steering wheel had to be turned to the right for the wells to be straight as if the truck needed alignment. This was by far the worst moving experience I ever had. I would like a refund the unit and would like a refund for the extension on the truck because I would have been able to have things done in the time frame that was given if things would have went accordingly at the U-Haul Facility.

The freight elevator is my new favorite vertical transport device.
william c | First ImpressionsThe building is old and dirty. There is only ONE elevator that only moves when you manually crank a lever. So when one person is putting their things in storage, everyone else has to wait for them to bring the elevator back down. It is extremely inefficient and wastes other customer's time. Furthermore, the elevator never stops flush to the floor - once a person stopped the elevator at the wrong time and we had to lift our heavy things at least six inches just to get it out of the elevator. It was a headache. The unit they gave us was 808, when we walked in, there were large dead bugs on the windowsill, huge spiderwebs, and a rat poison trap on the floor. I was disgusted. Then we noticed that the board on the wall had peeled at the corner meaning that there was a hole in the wall! You could see water stains on the wall next to the window. I was so upset! I didn't want my things to get wet and moldy while it was in storage. So I took a picture, and showed the employees asking for a new unit. The first thing they did was deny that there was a hole in the wall even though I showed them the picture. Then they said there weren't any units left. When they realized that I was quite upset - this was unacceptable - they offered me a smaller unit (which means they lied about not having any left. Just to double check that there was indeed a hole in the wall and to disprove the employees' claim that there was a window behind the board, we threw a penny through the opening (now we are down a penny). Just as we suspected, it flew right through. In the new unit they gave us, Unit 859 I believe, when we opened it up, it was pitch black. We turned on our phone flashlights just to discover an equally disgusting unit: dirty floors, cobwebs, and rat poison. But something was off: there were pieces of straw and sticks on the floor with a few bird feathers. Low and behold we heard chirping above our heads. THERE WAS A BIRDS NEST ABOVE MY UNIT. We mentioned this to the employees as well and they didn't have a response. This means they must have gotten this complaint before and have done nothing to address it. I wanted to cry. What if the birds pooped on my stuff in storage and we catch a disease from it? It was too late to switch storage units since it is college move-out season and everywhere else is booked. Distraught and disappointed, I put my things in the unit and locked it. UHUAL (once I take my stuff out the unit in August) PLEASE SEND AN INSPECTOR TO THIS BUILDING. THEY ARE VIOLATING NUMEROUS SAFETY CODES. THE BUILDING IS BEYOND REPAIR JUST TEAR IT DOWN.

We set up autopay at the beginning and twice more. We had to sit on hold with uhaul support for hours every time to contest the late fees. $15/90+ was waived. Absolutely frustrating. Do not recommend storing at this location.
Andrew C | Overall ExperienceThe only reason I used this facility is due to its close proximity to student housing for my daughter. There is another U-Haul about 8 minutes away that I would give 5 stars. This facility location was 2 minutes away The website DOES NOT mention that the only ONE elevator is closed at 6pm and on weekends earlier. So I found out the hard way that I had to climb up 3 flights on narrow wooden staircases with boxes. Plus the elevator is a manual and requires lifting gates and turning a lever to go up and down. Elevator from the 30's. And if the elevator is being used on the upper floor then you have to wait until it comes down by the operator or you can try asking for assistance from the office. Well good luck with that. I asked and had to find the elevator by myself. The owner and staff know they have a captive audience with students who are less reluctant to complain. I did told them that they should have put everything on the website. Their reply was no reply. I gave it 2 stars because in the end I managed and I didn't have a heart attack.

On top of that the floor was so busted up the portable staircase was stuck in the floor. I wouldn't advise fragil or cold sensitive items on the upper floors that have windows out. There is no heat and we paid for climate controlled thinking it was secured from the eliments and dampness.
