Allow new staff to accept cash payments, despite being new. On 5/19 Jasmine D. gave me a total but then advised she could not accept cash because “she is new”. I had to dispute my total because the young man who closed with her incorrectly stated we returned the truck with less gas than we borrowed with, and after showing proof he was wrong she incorrectly adjusted my total which left me to still have an overpayment. At 4:42pm Jasmine tells me the store will be closing in 10 mins then as I’m walking away proceeds to start threatening to “smack the shit out of me and call her uncle on him” (meaning my husband) and “I swear to God I don’t need this job” all out of anger myself and other customers were potentially keeping her from leaving right at 5pm. She and the other man repeatedly complained about customers out loud to one another in front of customers. Their conduct is the absolute worst I’ve ever witnessed when renting from here. The young man Wylan who opened on 5/19 was absolutely knowledgeable and courteous, please acknowledge him for this.

I have rented car haulers several times with no issue. This time however, there were no safety chains to secure the car. I had to get my own and the ratchet strap draw down mechanisms were in very poor barely workable condition. The trailer itself was fine. It just needs maintenance/ upkeep. Other than that my overall experience was very good as always with this location. Very pleasant people to deal with!

Im a frequent customer at this location for the past 2 years. I have to point out the exceptional customer service by your employee Jake. Most times Jake is the one to check me in during my pick ups. He is very professional, friendly and actually cares. He ALWAYS makes sure i have a clean/well maintained van when i pick up. Using a van after a construction worker can be hectic for my line of work. I know Jake goes out of his way to make sure i do not run into problems. My check in is always fast and a great experience. His customer service truly stands out and makes my experience always positive. I hope this review goes to the right person because it’s hard to find great employees like him these days. Thank you.

I would only recommend based on the availability. Truck was dirty in the cab, smelled like marijuana, trash on dashboard, sticky coffee on the seat. Have rented twice here in the last 30 days, both times they weren’t sure if they had the Hand trucks in the reservation and sent me to retrieve them.

I want to shout out to Jacob at the Middletown U-Haul storage. He was amazing he helps out until end with storage units. I was very stress with the truck service. I was called on Friday April 26th from representive of U-Haul that they change my location to pick up the truck. I was not happy but the agent was helpful and gave me 20 additional miles. On Saturday when I planned my day to pick up the truck I got to the location at 8:50am no one was there and the truck was behind a fence that was locked. I called you igual and they were given me the round about. Finally at 10am a gentleman shows up opens the gate I asks him can I get the keys for the truck he told he does not have it and he will call the owner to check if they have the keys. They told him no. Meanwhile I’m still waiting for a U-Haul representative to help me. After 1 hours waiting to get help from U-Haul they found a location where to get the truck. It was 20 minute away from Kearny . Meanwhile I have my movers waiting for me in front of my house getting pay to do nothing because I was not there ! Why I was getting the truck. I wasted 2 1/2 hours trying to resolve an issue that had nothing to do with me. I had anxiety attack I was terribly I was not expecting all this to happen. It was a horrible experience. I was disappointed. This was my first time using U-Haul . Not sure if I will use it again. Leslie

I reserved a refrigerator hand cart and 4 / 7 trailer on arrival a refrigerator cart was not available.How do you move a refrigerator 3 flights of stairs, I needed 2 locate 1 someplace else which caused me more time ,that why I reserved the refrigerator handcart. Also the trailer railing had broken welds

This truck needs extreme mechanical work for sure. For the entire ride we experienced a constant vibration and shimmying in the truck cabin. The smell of sweat & dirt was overbearing as well. I also feel the rates for the miles have been raised too high, a bigger 15 foot truck I rented just 2 years ago with only 4 more miles of travel cost me less. The price hike on the miles is a bit much. The service was good, just not happy with the condition of the truck, 50% price increase, and the cleanliness of the truck.

The only reasons why I left U-Haul are as follows: The dramatically increased monthly rental fee and the fact that CubeSmart had a smaller unit, closer to my apartment and far less expensive than U-Haul’s smaller units.

I had a hitch installed and had no choice but to wait for it to be completed. While I was waiting, there were employee conversations that no customer should here. Some were between employees about their pay, no raises (1 guy said he never got a raise since he has been there), discussing fees, etc. Another guy might have been a manager, as they openly discussed business tactics and even that manager was swearing 4 letter words. I can handle that, but not if I had any of my grandchildren with me. On a positive note, the installer was kind and respectful. Found a way to bundle my purchase without asking, which saved me $21. When he spoke to me, it was with respect, I liked that. It was only due to the installer that I give the store high ratings. The rest of the staff ignored my presence and was constantly stepping outside. Many times, the phone would ring and ring, but no one was at the desk to answer the calls. Now there were business opportunities lost due to no one answering the phone!

I appreciated the clerk helping me know how much gas I might need and to put in in on my way. That worked well. Driving away a little disoriented, I had the tow feature engaged most of the way. It might be helpful to mention that before departure. The signs in the cab do help though.

When I picked up the 9 foot cargo van, the gas gauge was at 1/3 filled so I ended up having to get gas not too far into my task. Also, the vehicle smelled like cigarette smoke and the low tire pressure light was on from the time I started the vehicle and the two front tires were very low.. 58 and 55 psi and back tires were at 80 psi. The van only had 7700 miles on it so I don’t think that it should’ve had this many issues for being a newer vehicle.

I have found that the last two times I have rented the mileage was documented to be less than what it actually was. This means if I did not say something I would have been charged for 6 miles ( the first time) and 1 mile ( this past time) before I ever left the lot. What really appalled me this past time was the lack of concern for the customer and fixing a problem without spouting off snide comments and laughing. This was about the one and only handicap spot on the lot. It was taken up by a car parked halfway in the spot and shared with a handcart and a hose. This is completely unacceptable. When an employee asked me if there was a problem I said yes, this car is not handicap and I am mad. I had to park at the beer store, Nextdoor and walk ove to Uhaul. Again, unacceptable. When I saw the opportunity for an open spot I walked back to the beer store and moved my car. I called Wallkill Policeabout the the inappropriate use of the handicap spot. When I went inside the girl at the counter was all business and didn’t want to hear about it. I told her I was disabled and she said if there are no spots available I may park at the beer store. I told her unacceptable answer. She went on to speak with a coworker (like I wasn’t there at all), “it’s going to be one of those days. Rud, and she needs sensitivity training. The vehicle was moved quickly, when the officer showed up. So, I will go out on a limb and say it was an employee’s car.

This ha been my worst experience with U-Haul. I booked my unit online the morning of 08/01. I made 2 trips to the unit during store hours, and both times I had to connect with the desk agents to gain access to the unit. My code was changed multiple times, and I was not informed of the new codes. I was given multiple access cards, and at this point I am not even sure if the card currently in my possession is the card that should allow access to the unit. The evening of 08/01, I arrived to drop off a final load for storage at about 9:00pm. I attempted to call the general manager, Jimmy Coscette, no less than 20 times using the number listed on the door (845-741-9077) between 9:15 and 10:30, and I texted the number four times between 9:14 and 10:00pm. We were on the phone with U-Haul customer support for at least 45 minutes, and while they were able to assist with providing us codes we still could not gain access. The U-Haul agent also attempted to contact Jimmy, and they were unable to reach him. I contacted Maximum, they were able to provide my code for access, but I was still unable to gain entry with the code they provided. Maximum also tried calling Jimmy as well as the district office without success. I was on a time constraint and had to begin my trip that evening to arrive at my destination because we were supposed to attend a funeral for one of my family members, so I had to throw hundreds of dollars in worth of my own possessions away instead of storing them in the unit. I contacted the district office the evening of 08/01 and let them know how upsetting this has been and that we needed someone to reach out, and we have yet to receive a response. This has been a horrible experience and I would never recommend storing with U-Haul to anyone I know based on the poor level of customer service and lack of ability to gain assistance when it was needed.

The customer service representative was really helpful. The trash bin was full near the storage, and I tried to threw out some extra large USPS flatted boxed when moving out my stuff. The staff drove a pick up truck from store to the storage to pick them up. Really appreciate it! It’s definitely helpful and I will recommend it to my friends! Thanks!

I have used other locations and they were far better than this location. I left this location because of price, security, procedures and to little space to unload. Unloading made difficult due to outside storage storage uhaul pods. Staff not fully trained. Unable to reach staff by phone during open hours. Autopayments being taken before the actual due date, without permission or a courtesy call.

When Picking up the Truck and Signing for the Rental Unit. The staff was very friendly and Helpful. They Stated they were there until 7pm. We had planned to Return the truck by then but were running behind. We stopped to ask about procedures after closing cause we had a full truck we had to move into the Unit. The woman at the desk was rude and not helpful. A man outside told us not to worry just to use the app for returning it after hours. At approximately 7:22pm the woman for the desk came to the storage building which we had a full truck back up to the doors. And locked the large automatic doors. She then proceeded to tell my brother to use the smaller side door and left. This was very inconvenient due to having large furniture which was difficult to get through such a small door. Then sign outside stated there was access to the building until 10pm. There was no signs stating the large automatic doors would be locked before that time. As a new customer I was very frustrated by this.

There was a couple of times the staff were rude and not willing to help. I had a day where I miss placed my locks keys, and needed the lock cut off. When I went to the office the one staff member said he couldn’t do it all though he was sitting there on his phone and he had to wait for his coworker that just went to the restroom. I waited almost an hour for them to cut the lock so I can put the new one on…. I went to the office and asked if the other staff member was still in the restroom and the one that “couldn’t help” said yes he’s still in there. I ended up having to leave to be some where and came back the next day. The next day when I came back the staff member that couldn’t help me , ended up helping me since he was the only one that could that was there. When I moved my items out I had to wait for the staff member to come and open my unit as the store removed my lock and put their own. The girl that helped was very rude and stated “my manager wants every thing out and gone” when she said this she had a nasty attitude. She was not a Pleasent person. It also took her a bit to go to the unit and take the lock off. The time that I had my unit there was 3 different managers. Thankfully the most recent manager is a very Pleasent and nice person! He is super understanding and willing to help in any way possible ! He responds in a timely manner and is willing to take the call. The manager before him was never there or never answered.

Or the staff are under paid or they have no costumer service training always with an attitude like we are there bothering, we are there because we are doing business meaning they could have a job or they are racist toward spanish people like me...

Was told I was getting my first month free and my debit card was only for the reservation, the next day my card was charged 140.00 almost 2 hours since I was promised a call from the facility and still no call back

I really love this facility I just moved from North Carolina and had to pack a truck in this heat I love that the facility was convenient with big pull carts and air conditioning it made my move from truck to storage very easy and fast I recommend this storage facility to everbody
