I received terrible service. They wanted me to look through all the trucks to find my truck. After looking and not finding it. I had to ask them to bring the truck around. Received truck with half a tank of gas. Had to fill up after pick up. Was charged a fuel charge when I returned the truck at same level. Truck was a little hard to find upon arrival. The top of truck was full of snow that slid on the windshield while driving and weighed down the wipers. Had to pull over to get snow off windshield to improve visibility. App was a little difficult to navigate. When I returned the truck staff member said it was ok to leave and I would get receipt via email. It was extremely inconvinient not being able to drop off my truck into a different location, I had to drive more than expected to return it here. The breaks of the truck were extremely sketchy and felt unsafe many times. I was told to check the truck before leaving the location, but how am I supposed to know how it will perform when the truck was not loaded. The parking lot was filled to the brim with men. I don't care if they're looking for work, or telling of the Truck they have cheaper **( as if you're dumb enough to climb in a truck with a stranger that reeks of booze). You should be damned ashamed of this location. The employees are unwelcoming and lackluster. As a woman, I would NEVER advise any other female to go alone. Nor, will I ever visit with family or friends. The lazy notion of UHaul that folk will come for name familiarity? The location is good. And the equipment are clean. The customer service at this location is not good. On Saturday when I went to return the truck I went inside and got in line to get the total amount of my bill. I like to get the total due to previous billing issues at this location. I was standing in the line for 20 minutes but then I saw a gentleman outside so I went outside. I didn't need a receipt, I only needed the total and I asked him nicely. He ignored me. I said Sir, Sir, Sir and he yelled at me , â€œGo inside to get the receipt!â€ I am a frequent customer to this location and this was unacceptable. Another gentleman passed by and he heard the other gentleman had just yelled at me. The truck was stolen. And it sat at towing storage for a couple weeks after finding out who stole it. I called several times to get information about where truck was at and everything. They were was supposed to call me back several times and never did. Then take truck back to there facility somewhere in Hyattsville Maryland with all of granddaughter belongings and expect us to go get it. Without them even calling and letting us know they were getting it when it was close to home in the first place. The personnel at the U-Haul storage location on Chillum Road in Hyattsville, Maryland were pleasant and answered all of my questions. I was disappointed however, that it was not explained to me in advance that in order to get one month free or discounted on my storage unit that a truck would have to be reserved and brought to the Hyattsville location from another U-Haul location. That was not disclosed early on. Therefore, I reserved a truck online from the Hyattsville location planning to drop it off at the same location. Then the same day I came to sign my contract, I was told the truck would've had to come from another location and be dropped off to receive the promotion. Additionally, when I was first given the U-Haul storage access card, I was not shown how to use it and I was not told that I needed a specific lock for the storage unit. While the cashiers/customer representatives were nice, some key information was omitted and I had to keep going back to get the right information or for someone to show me how to do something.Yasmine A. | First Impressions

There was some confusion with what I was told over the phone and when I got to the actual store. I was told that due to COVID-19 U-Haul was given all customers one month free storage, however when I got to the store on Chillum Rd that was not the case. The salesperson was kind and gave it to me anyway but said that the individuals from the call center work at different locations and that each store runs their own specials. I called the call center a second time about 24-hour storage and I was told that no U-Haul locations offer 24-hour service, but I was told differently at the location where I purchased. Of course the salesperson at the store was right about U-Haul offering 24-hour storage access.
