Stephanio O.My truck was parked behind another one, so the U-Haul rep said to take the one in front and she would email the revised contract to me for the equipment. I took a picture of the odometer and gas gage before leaving the lot. I brought it back with more gas than was in it before leaving the lot but they still charged me for not bringing it back with enough gas. Evidently the contract that was later emailed to me had more gas listed than was actually in the tank. Complained to the service rep at the counter when I turned the truck in and showed her the picture of the odometer and gas reading prior to my leaving the lot. She said it didn't matter since its my responsibility to check the contract. Never mind that I didn't even have the contract emailed to me yet when I left the lot. Had to pay an extra $30 fee + $20 gas for their mistake. Poor customer service.

We decided to empty the pod at the UHaul location, instead of it being delivered, but I didn't realize I had to schedule that. Donnis, took the time to find the pod and bring it out for us. If you offer any type of recognition for great service, I hope you will recognize Donnis.
SALVATORE I.It wasn't so much this location that was the issue as it was having a truck when we reserved one and that is more of an issue with dispatch and not this facility. We reserved trucks on several occasions through the website and even a storage unit that we never got. We had to take a trailer with our last trip because the size truck we rented was not available. It made moving a complete nightmare. Cancelling movers last minute and then taking a trailer when we didn't need to AND we had to take the trailer attached to the truck which made moving items on the truck Much Harder. The lack of trucks and switching things out caused us way more stress and money.

Do regular maintenance on the trucks. Ours was leaking oil and we had to drive back to get a digger truck. We didn't get our money back in the gas we pumped nor an extra hour for our time spent driving back and forth

majid S.After reserving a car hauler at Torrance and I got 5-6 email verifications, I was called at the last minute they had no trailers. Was sent tp Haul in Gardena. On their trailer, chains had been stolen, the wiring coupler gone, no license plate, and when I finally left, the trailer had no brakes and when ever I stopped the trailer, it would slam forward rotating the coupler. I had to go 300 miles with the fucking thing slamming into the back of my van. U haul of Torrance cancelled a reservation 2 weeks ago when after I reserving a hauler, they didn't have one. I will never rent from u haul again. I'll buy my own trailer. I tried calling Gardena U haul back and they didn't answer the phone. I called Haul service and was told there was a 20 minute wait for them to answer the phone. Your employees don't give a shit about your customers or your equipment. There was absolutely no apology, no offer of reduced cost, and I'll make sure the thousands of people who come to see me race my cars and follow me on google and instagram know how I was treated by U Haul.

Keith G.After walking over the truck. The agent said i was good to go. When I came back they were highlighting damage from long past. I drove the truck 16 miles. The damages were obviously old but didn't have an “xâ€. I am a regular customer and know I didn't damage this truck that had over 100,000 miles. Your process of placing “xâ€'s is not sufficient.

Come to find out the truck was blocked by other truck so then back to the office I went… talked to the manager, he handles it but didn't acknowledge it, just brushed me right off.

So we had to go rent a space at Public Storage, whose rates were a LOT less for a better space and they do have elevators, as well as flat bed carts and Dollie's. I will NEVER rent a storage space from U-Haul again after this fiasco! By the way, the staff at the Gardena facility was snotty with me on the phone and when my son got there he realized this was the same facility that he had trouble with before and sent a complaint to corporate about years ago. Obviously nothing was done to correct the problem.

Talmadd T. | Overall ExperienceThe complaint is not with the facility that provided the Storage Unit... My complaint is with the U-HAUL scheduling & reservation system... It all was an "inconvenient mess"..! I had to call several times... The pick up facility for the truck rental was un-able to be contacted due to a disconnected phone number... I called the day before my pick up to affirm my reservation and re-assess my contractual agreement... I spoke to several agents in the "Transportation Center" several times the morning of the pick up and got another disconnected number... My CC was charged $30 more than what I was quoted over the phone by the reservation agent despite a very intentionally adamant conversation with the agent regarding that specific issue (i.e. Amount due at pick up). The person who did the contract at the facility for the pick up (a young lady) never asked for my signature and just did everything for my pick up of the truck on her phone... And, upon arrival to the storage facility the unit that I was quoted was not available when I got to the storage facility so I had to accept a different unit (a more expensive one). Throughout this entire experience I was making several phone calls to the "Transportation Center" and then the "Customer Service Center" and practically every time these calls were put on long "wait-time holds" and when finally connected to a live person the calls were disconnected..! This entire experience should be easily documented & confirmed as it is noted in all of these calls that you (i.e. U-HAUL) record these phone calls... I am truly displeased with this experience and I tried calling your "Customer Service" several times the following day to submit this grievance but just as during this experience, I was unable to speak with any of your agents... I am in a profession that is compelled to be diligent in customer service in order to perpetuate the further continuance of repeat & referral business so this was an appalling experience for me as this kind of "ball dropping" would be totally unacceptable..! I would appreciate it if someone would reach out to me in an effort to rectify this matter.

When I got the the facility it was all different the lady at the storage said she did not see the reservation in the system and the lady was very rude. The storage facility does not have a elevator so I have to carry all my items up the stairs. What is up with this? I am happy I got the one month free but it really was a ordeal that I did not want to deal with. I would think twice about going to this storage facility again it was to much work .

When I arrived they did not have that unit and gave me one much smaller, not climate controlled and second floor. The second floor access is a staircase!!! What type of storage facility has stairs to haul all storage items up and down from…most ridiculous thing ever!! The lady charged me the same price of the unit I had originally reserved…terrible!!

Christina C. | Overall ExperienceThe size of the unit turned out to be too small, a bigger unit was available however, the owner, Donnis, wasn't willing to swap out units. He wanted me to rent the other unit out as well. I don't need 2 units. He then proceeded to walk away and just left his staff member standing there not knowing what to do, so then he walks away. He was more concerned with counting his boxes and seeing how many pallets they had to restock. Just left us standing at the counter. The sad part about this is that my husband is disabled and was there with me. He uses a wheelchair and a cane to get around. He is unable to help me in moving. And financially we can't afford movers. So I was doing this alone. There was NO compassion from this person at ALL. I will NEVER rent a storage there again. I only had the unit for a day or two and left. Didn't even use it really. It also had a hole in the door. So people could see what your storing. I had to keep the Uhaul truck rental again and found a storage at different storage company. I will say his staff had more compassion and kindness then he did. They were awesome. But they could only do so much but say I'm sorry.

Storage spaces do not have lights inside and it is Very difficult to find things or move around inside the storage spaces. There should be an automatic lighting installed inside of each storage space that turns on and off by itself. Every time I, I visit my storage, I hated to be inside the dark space. The ceiling is also low, so I have to stoop around the whole time I'm in there. I am a woman of average height, by the way. Second, I wish the U-Haul employees are better trained. Many of them I have dealt with so far have Very incompetent work skills. On Sunday, 03/14/2021, a female agent who was helping me on the phone was very incompetent. And on Monday, 04/15/2021 a male agent at the Gardena, CA location office was also not trained properly. The female agent did not know how to properly cancel my contract with U-Haul. I had to call twice to make sure my cancellation was processed correctly. On the second phone call, an agent named Joseph verified that my cancellation did not take place with the previous female agent. Joseph helped me to complete the cancellation in the system. The first female agent was NOT professional: Not only she did not do the job correctly, her manner on the phone was very rude, telling me to take the speaker-phone mode off so that she can hear me. I was driving , so I had to use the speaker phone. Anyway, I pulled over and spoke with her without using the speaker phone. Also, she called me "Honey". Somehow her calling me honey did not feel appropriate to me. I wish she called me by my name, and not "Honey". She was also fumbling on the phone a lot while talking to me on the phone. At the end of a rather hasty "help" provided by her, i tried to ask her name. Well, She hung up right away! That's when I got suspicious wherher my request was performed correctly. I got this hunch that she might not have done the cancellation job correct. I immediately called back. Sure enough, the second agent named Joseph confirmed that my storage contract termination did not take effect at all. Nothing was done for it, he said. Joseph was very professional though. He apologized for the first female agent's mistake. What a waste of my time. Also when I try to return the key at the Gardena location, the agent made a mistake in the return-key process. I had to ask his coworker sitting next to him at the counter to double-check. Surely, the key was not returned in the system. If a coworker had to help out in order to make sure a simple key-return was done correctly in the system, then I am not sure whether U-Haul employees are trained properly. My experience with U-Haul with the phone agents and the local office agents have been very unsatisfactory. I would NOT hesitate to recommend some other storage businesses to others. I am sorry but, hope my feedback is helpful for other consumers/customers down the road with U-Haul. Thank you for your time! Sandra Kim
