I rented a 20 foot Uhaul truck for a local trip on 6/30/19 from the Uhaul Moving and Storage, 3630 College Point Blvd, Flushing, NY. Unfortunately, as I was driving the truck back to the Uhaul store location that same day, another driver crashed into my truck, due to no fault of my own. The other driver admitted to losing control of her vehicle and colliding into my Uhaul truck (this is documented in the police report, which I shared with Uhaul’s insurance company Repwest). I contacted Uhaul’s roadside assistance department soon after the accident, and they recommended use a local Uhaul recommended tow truck company so it could be returned directly to Uhaul. I asked the police officers at the accident scene if I could choose a Uhaul recommended tow truck company, and they did not allow me to. Instead, they chose a local tow company that did not partner with Uhaul, and that company took the truck to its own local impound lot. I had to pay for an Uber so I could return to the Uhaul store to retrieve my personal vehicle, which I had parked there earlier that morning. I made sure I retrieved the 18 furniture pads I rented from the truck and carried them myself to the Uhaul store so they would not get lost at the impound lot. Upon returning to the Uhaul store later that day, I informed the manager, Andre, about the accident. I shared the details of what occurred with him, and followed his recommendations to submit a claim with Repwest. I also let him know that I returned all of the furniture pad rentals, and he confirmed he received them, so I would not be charged any extra fees. I also gave Andre the name, location and contact information for the tow truck company to help him retrieve the damaged truck (I also shared this information with Uhaul’s roadside assistance department). Later that same day on 6/30/19, I filed an accident claim with both GEICO (my personal insurance, which provides coverage for rental vehicles) and Repwest. Afterwards, I provided Andre with all of the accident claim numbers as he requested, in addition to the mileage on the truck, to assist him with completing the truck reservation. On 7/2/2019, I contacted Andre via telephone to confirm the status of the truck repair, and he informed me that he was having difficulty retrieving the truck because he did not have all of the vehicle documentation required by the tow truck company; so the truck remained in the impound lot longer than I had anticipated, due to no fault of my own. Additionally, GEICO informed me that I would not have to pay anything out of pocket for truck damages while the accident claims were in process, especially since the other driver caused the accident; and they further elaborated that Uhaul should not charge me directly for damages because one of the auto insurance companies involved with the claim would cover the costs. Please have your employees stop trying to force customers to check out their rental online. I specifically wanted to deal with someone in the store when picking up my rental. Long story short, the online process was not working, and 40 minutes later, the employee ended up having to manually enter in all my information for the rental (as I originally requested). Waste of time and energy.

I arrived to return my truck at about 1:30pm on a Friday afternoon. There was no body at this location to handle the return check out process. The signs says pull up to the return bay to be processed for truck return. I waited over 20 minutes. I even went into the customer counter and ask. The check out clerk told me that there should be someone at the return bay. NOT! Finally, I guess he was a manager, told me to do the self check out. After wasted almost 30 minutes and then I had to spend another 20 minutes to do my own check out. All in all, the UHAUL corporation just wasted 50 minutes of my time to do the job of someone else's. I think UHAUL owe my $60 because that is how much I charge for my professional service.

Three times I got off line to try to get a truck through my smart phone at the encouragement of your employees. Three times when I got to the truck it had a problem. I finally got to clerk who was able to give me a truck. an hour and a half for nothing. Very frustrating! Only reason I am giving you a below average rating.

This was the worst customer service experience of my life. The equipment was not only unavailable for several hours after the supposedly “guaranteed” pickup time - the representatives also refused to provide information about the timing we would be able to get a truck, if at all. U haul made my moving weekend deeply frustrating and stressful even though I made this reservation months in advance. In the end I had to drive 45 minutes away from the designated pickup to get a truck 4 hours after the scheduled time.

It took more than an hour to give out the rental. It was frustating experience - I had scheduled movers and this caused a delay in everyone schedule. I booked online and there should have been no good reason for them to have wait time for more than an Hour. Not recommending this place or Uhaul.

We originally tried to pick up a truck using the phone app. We were stuck on hold for 40 mins with an operator named Jhatiere who never responded back. After we gave her a second contact to call (why you need this is ridiculous and makes no logical sense), and we confirmed from the contact that she did call, she never got back to us. Luckily the staff helped us out, but your app is terrible and offers no backup in case the operator does not respond back.

The waiting line is rather long. I had used the online system to check in. The process that ok quite long despite of the fact that I already entered all the info, scanned my driver license the day before. I had to do it all over again. The system should be able to just verify the person. No point of doing it all over again.

I didn't like the customer service attitude, specially when i asked about parking my vehicle in the U hall parking lot until the end if the day.. Last time about a year ago i rented a truck in that location they didn't give me a hard time, and they allowed me to park for the day without any problem amd now tgis time i had to look for a parking place and paid 30 dollars for the day amd then i had to walk back to your offices about 15 minutes walk.. By the time i picked up the truck it was about 11 or 12 i can't recall. That delaued my moving schedule since i had to move to the new place before 5 pm... You guys don't care and you don't give a F--k so next time i will go and rent from another company where they treat me better, and where they can provide me with a parking space for the day. And. Also someone had called me and left a message on my cell phone and this lady doesn't speak loud and clear. I had to repeat the message more than 5 times trying to guess what it was all about..she was speaking soft and very low and not pausing the words or sentences she kept talking word after word without pausing.. I had a hard time understanding.. She needs to be loud and clear!!!

I renewed my drivers license in KS the day before I came to NY to help my son move. In KS they give you a paper, printed license until the official permanent license arrives in the mail. I brought my passport and my federal gov't employee ID with me, and your guys went out of their way to help me get our truck. This had to be done, because we were moving my son's equipment into storage that day and driving to Chicago the next. I REALLY appreciate all of their efforts, which were substantial. They are fantastic human beings.

The trailer was a little larger than what I needed it for. The uhaul site did not mention the 4x8 trailer having a ramp. If I knew the 4x8 was available with a ramp I would have rented that one.

The 24//7 system was crazy and wouldn’t let me pick up my truck without an agent resetting something. Fortunately, there was still someone there when I went to get my truck or I would have had to wait until the following day to get a truck. Upon return, while following the directions on the app I was repeatedly told by an agent not to follow the app for dropping off the truck and to do as he advised rather than what the app was telling me do. Alonzo at the flushing facility got irate when I completed my drop off via the app and didn't just leave the truck with him. When I said I was dropping the truck off through the app he advised that he didn’t care, my doing the drop off via the app makes him have to do more work. Honestly, that didn’t matter to me. I completed my drop off via the app and left the truck where I said I had through the app. He made it difficult to complete my drop off by yelling at me the entire time that I was making him have to walk more and do whatever he needed to after my drop off was completed via the app that I was just making him work and walk more. The professionalism displayed by him was just not there. The girl who helped me even though they were closed the day before was so sweet and helpful but drop off was simply a nightmare to be yelled at the entire time that I wasn’t doing what he wanted vs what the app says to do for drop off.

My experience with Uhaul was one of the worst customer experiences I’ve ever had. Less than 24 hours before I was moving, I was contacted and told that I’d have to pick up my truck rental over 3+ hours away because the area I was submitted to pick-up my rental was a “preferred location and not confirmed”. After being told that, I cancelled that reservation and switched to what I thought was a closer location in Queens because it was the only location with my equipment rental.. they switched the pick-up location AGAIN. Unable to switch or look for another company with such short notice before my move, I had to go 2+ hours out of the way to pick-up my equipment the morning of my move. I received over 4 calls from U-Haul the day before my move and there seemed to be zero communication or record of communication between me and the other U-Haul reps that called me. I was then incorrectly charged over $335 (on top of my original purchase of $150) for going an extra 700+ miles (which is completely false and absolutely incorrect). After emailing to dispute the charge, I received zero response from Uhaul. After that, I called and was told that someone would call me within 72 hours.. that was over 5 days ago and I still have yet to be contacted. Never again will I use U-Haul.. completely inconsiderate to the customer and terrible terrible experience overall. I’d 100% recommend looking elsewhere.

We were supposed to drop off at wood side per a text I received telling me my original location was full. We arrived at wood side and the personnel there said that they were full so we had to go to flushing. It was impossible to figure out where to leave the key after hours. Very stressful end to a moving day.

This was the absolute worst experience. I ended up spending money( I didn’t have) on Uber’s because the reservation I had which I booked a month in advance, canceled the day before a 730am pick up in MY neighborhood and ended up having to go further out to another location where there was supposed to be a lock box and the truck wasn’t available then they changed the reservation to a location 20 miles away from my original pick up location. I was only going one mile to begin with. It’s now 1130 in the afternoon I’m late moving all my stuff and the reservations I had with movers I’m $60 in 2 Uber rides later and finally get a truck I have to drive 20 miles to do a less than one mile move. I called uhall center 5 different times and got hung up on every time with no help at all. Went personally to the original location and they contacted a “manager” Michael, who was supposed to contact me and never did. This is on top of the mileage and what I had to pay for the truck I’m out of pocket over $200 and has been a complete waste of time. I’m beyond annoyed with this experience. I should be reimbursed for the entire experience I had to go through. But there’s no one actually that cares to help. Unbelievable experience. Thanks uhall

Not enough help at this location. Waited 45 minutes on a super long line for my truck even though I did express check in. Absolutely unacceptable to cheat your customers out of time because you're unprepared for your volume of customers. Then my truck did not have the equipment I requested and paid for ready. I also ordered a dolly and they "ran out" and substituted for another hand truck. This was a massive inconvenience for me. There was one person who was kind during my rental, I believe his name was Marc. He had a great personality and was patient with my questions and assuring me. Everyone else was ill prepared for service. Then when I went to return my truck, having been cheated of 45 minutes of use, this idiot young lady at the counter called my name for my receipt and then left her counter to take care of another customer and had me standing around for 15 to 20 minutes. Someone else finally came over and asked if I was being helped. I said the other one called me over and then left me standing at the counter. This lady then handed me my receipt and said "oh." I'm so disappointed. Uhaul a major company, and all your employees should understand the customers need to make the most of their rental and understand all the processes and rules, not be short with us. I think you should do a refreshed training on how to help your consumers. Not pleased.
