South Lake Tahoe (Emerald Bay) general manager was rude and disrespectful. The assistant manager had no idea what he was doing, and refused to help out. Stated everyone was new. When arrived at Seattle, WA Federal Way location. The management stated it was $75 dollars to release my car from the auto transport. Next day it was $30. (WOW) I had no idea Uhaul treated their customers this way. So I guess next time will be Budget rentals and hopefully better treatment.DANIELLE D. | First Impressions

The staff was excellent, friendly, and competent!. Equipment was well-worn. the truck had a valve-tapping that was troublesome for only 118,000 miles. Suggest you change oil more often.Daniel H.
I asked that I will need the uhaul truck for 40 to 50 miles just for an hour to pick up 6 chairs the customer service put it 60 miles so when I returned the truck I drove 47 miles he was like you drove less than 60 miles and charged me $21 for gas which is not making sence at all. He put 60 miles by him self and didn't tell me if you drive less will charge you for gas and for mileage will never rent from uhaul again.Mohammad W.

The equipment was old, the steering was so loose I was bouncing back-and-forth across the road. When I put the key in the ignition to start it the ignition itself came out of the housing. I wouldn't recommend that truck. ThatTruck should've been out of service along time agoCharles S.

My first visit to the location was not the best. There was only one clerk with a line of 2 other people so total 3. He never acknowledge the line to say, we'll be with u shortly. The reason I gave 3 starts is, the manager was there when I actually picked up the truck and he acknowledged me as soon as I walked in and say they would be with me shortly. The process was easy peasy. Love that they set a link to my text for the vehicle inspection and gas mileage. Overall good. Will most likely rent another truck to move my other daughter in a couple weeks. Very conveniently located.Cheryl K.

Please fix your online resource. I had scheduled for a pick up online like I was told by a customer service rep on the phone when I called. When I got to the location there was no trucks and the people working had no idea about the system or truck availability. Secondly, the fact that you can only schedule online is ridiculous. Walk-ins should be allowed if there are trucks available on the lot. I had to walk into this one because of the last place not having my reservation. Then the men at this facility told me they have what I want available but that I have to schedule online. But the online reservation was not available and said that this location had no trucks available. This whole ordeal almost made me want to go somewhere else. To be honest, I may do so when I have to move next. Because there was no reason for it to take as long as it did. Or be as difficult as it was.Christina L.

Lots of issues with this location... The agent helping us seemed annoyed to make sure we had everything done correctly with the car trailer. He said he had to get back in to help other customers even though we still needed his assistance. When we had to go back in to ask for clarification, he seemed annoyed he had to walk back out to the trailer to assist us again. Plus he accused us of doing the straps wrong, which we were not. The 12 blankets we had on the rental were not available, thus we had to purchase 8 blankets. On top of that I wasn't refunded the rental cost right away as I was told by the rep that I would be. Instead the agent from Montana had to file a complaint on my behalf to get said refund. To top it all off the car trailer they gave us was super old and should have never been on the road. Even though the wheel straps were checked frequently throughout the trip, in the end one came all the way off by the time we hit our destination. The agents in Montana were shocked to see that trailer was even used and said we were lucky to make it the whole way. It would be nice if the company made sure customers items were safe rather than prioritize the money they might have lost due to not using a piece of equipment that is OLD and should have never been on the road.Kimberly W.

The bullet mirror on the driver side was held on with duct tape it started to come loose half way through the rental. I used lace ties to secure it. The roll up door was in poor repair, it was fight to get it closed. The brakes were not responsive as needed I had to keep my distance and be aware of when I needed them.DANIEL R.

There was a grease layer on the truck floor. My father slipped and it was very difficult to move while slipping. We let the agent know when we returned so they would clean for next customer.Karen L.
A representative called us at 8pm the night before our move. When we were forced to change our schedule due to U-Haul not having a truck available, I had to scramble to get a new moving team for the time a truck would be available. Hectic, but it worked. When we arrived at the new time, there was still not a truck available but our moving team would be arriving in the next 30 minutes. When asked if there was a projected time we were told that if we really needed a time frame we could go talk to the other customers that were unloading and ask them. Of course, it is not our responsibility and I wasn't going to confront a customer. Thank goodness I didn't because the assistant manager was wrong about which truck it was. The assistant manager was disrespectful and the lack of organization on their part was pretty shocking. If we weren't paying a moving team, which we hired via the U-Haul site, I may have been able to let it go. However, the assistant manager did not care about our schedule nor was he willing to assist in finding us another truck anywhere else (we were willing to change location or truck sizes).Kelly B.

During entire check-out process, I explained that I would need to drop off the equipment AFTER HOURS at the location on Enchanted Parkway S in Federal Way after hours, and was told that I could do so. I showed up at 5:15 pm, about 15 minutes after the location closed. The online check-in process said I needed to be at the same location as where I checked out. So I called and was told I could go ahead an check in at the Federal Way location. I took the requested photos, recorded the vehicle mileage, and was directed to drop the keys in the key drop. I searched fir over an hour while waiting on the phone for assistance. I took the key hone with me while still on hold. Finally, after speaking to a representative, she emailed me the key drop details for this location. Instead of a box, I was to find a slot next to a large green sign. I drove back to the store to find the slot. It was sealed closed. I emailed the representative that sent me the information about the drop slot. I also attempted to call the store GM at the number listed on the greeen sign. It went to voice mail. I returned home to go to bed, as I have to be at work tomorrow at 7:00 am. I still have the key. For beginners, I did not come to the location to hear a speech about masking. I paid money and came to pick up my truck and the agent, instead of helping me out was focused on kicking me out of the building because I was not masked. And I understand it's the companies right so to say to reject customers if they're not masked. But I did not have my mask with me, he did not offer me a mask, and instead of answering my question on how to rent a U-Haul for the first time in my life, all he was focused on as me having a mask and stayed away from me. I stepped out outside figuring she would come and explain to me outside, but she acted like I did not exist. Y'all need to watch what you're doing when you treat customers with tyranny. I returned the truck the night prior after hours but the location has no drop box for keys so I had to drive back to the location in the morning to return the keys. I don't know if I was charged for one day or two because the receipt billing is confusing. Very inconvenient to have to return to location to return keys. As has been my experience lately in 3 rentals, the retail locations and people have been great. What was poor and truly unacceptable for the price I paid was the condition of the equipment. U-Haul has no business putting the trailer I had to drive 60 miles one way to pick up in service. While I did complete the trip without incident, the properly loaded trailer listed to one side, shook and cavitated for the entire trip. Tires were under inflated, tie downs were broken and rotted. I have towed several trailers with this vehicle and none have handled as poorly as this one. I am extremely dissatisfied with my experience. I will evaluate my items carefully for damage and wear due to the beating they took from this rattletrap of a trailer and seek compensation if there are issues. You are not the only game in town. After this experience I will simply buy on one end of the trip and sell on the other. My cost would have been less if I did that this time. Shame on you U-Haul.Randall M.

Employees need more training or support to provide efficient and effective customer service. They are courteous but incompetent and nearly every step of my experience was delayed and required me to return to the counter to get their mistakes fixed. Errors occurred with storage and moving truck that delayed my move in AND move out and I was never offered any apologies or concessions except for when calling the customer service number. Don't require the customer to resubmit info on moving day that was already covered in the online check in weeks before. Don't require an additional contact to be supplied and reached on the spot before allowing access to the moving truck using mobile pick up. Streamline the mobile pick up option so that the customer isn't delayed on moving day with a cumbersome process that won't allow completion and requires counter assistance anyway. Train employees better so that they don't inconvenience the customer as much and/or give incorrect information.holly R.

I had a VIP certificate and with a balance of $68.96. I showed the counter person that when I came to pick up the rental truck. He said OK no problem we will just apply the certificate when you come back and finalize the bill. When I did come back to return the truck and tried to use the certificate. I was told that it had expired. It doesn't say anything on the VIP certificate about an expiration date. I was never told of an expiration date when it was issued to me. I would like to have the certificate honored and be paid the $68.96 It's truly a shame that a company such as yours chooses not to honor their VIP certificate. It seemed the female working returns in the lot outside was trying to charge me for two days more and told me I hadn't paid yet; a quick trip inside resolved the issue. This STORAGE area Customer Bathroom broken entire time, the staff at this location was VERY mediocre except Daniel and Michael, a Boss. I was assigned #1986 which has an outside personal lock on it they couldn't have removed asap, the next best location was in #2051 even further away (I have Disabilities from Car accidents so walking too far is torture) but this unit was too small but by this time , this location was closed. The After hours Call center Rep couldn't Reserve a new bigger spot because the store was closed. (What????!!!**""). They never recommended reserving online, either. I found out the next day my own online reservation for a bigger unit wasn't avail in this location because someone else had reserved it for 2 weeks out and it's 1st come, 1st RESERVED. Now these issues had been going on for 3 days and I had to keep my 15' van overnight for 3 extra days to remove my belongings but was never able to fully do it (at this location) so I found another Storage unit (that wasn't a U-Haul) closer to our home. When I went in to turn in my access card and request my-UNUSED but out of the package- Padlock (at the Federal Way, WA store) because I didn't need it anymore, I was accused of not buying the padlock (I proved it was bought on the #1986 unit) but still couldn't return it as it had no packaging. Nor did these 2 guys even CARE that I was leaving for another company. Wait for it, there's more ....the rental of my 15' Van for local for 1 day around town was charged $167, not the advertised $29.95/ day. $40 was added each day that I couldn't offload my stuff from the Van. I also needed my SUV stored but it's a 4x4 and Customer service tried to rent me a tow dolly that would've damaged my 4x4. I'm not making this stuff up. I've had THE WORST EXPERIENCE AT THIS FEDERAL WAY, WA U-HAUL LOCATION. AVOID IT AT ALL COST!!!!Mary J. | Overall Experience

I got stuck in construction traffic moving across the state so I showed up 13 minutes before closing. The first guy seemed helpful initially but completely apathetic that the movers I booked through Uhaul no-showed me. He gave me a unit that still had a lock on it, so not so helpful after all. I had to go back for a different unit but they had just closed so the guy tried to ignore me. I banged on the door till another guy showed up and found me another 5x10 unit. I was told I wasn’t allowed to park my truck rental on site overnight while I figured out how to unload it without movers. …The locked storage unit was still in the system as available the next day so it will happen to the next customer…. I didn’t get instructions on how to use the 2 entry keypads but staff seemed annoyed or condescending the next morning when my attempts failed and I asked for help. Turns out the access doors still weren’t unlocked an hour and a half after business opened so it wasn’t operator error. They only unlocked one set of doors at the unloading zone or the other doors were broken. 2 out of 5 people gave appropriate customer service and basic courtesy. Security issue: Middle age female on side walk outside the main doors to storage, walked in through the open main entrance doors when others came and went. She was nervously looking around, so I continued to watch her from outside our rental truck. She lifted up one torche' lamp and started to walk away with it. She saw me watching and motioned, "oh, is this yours?". She put it down, came outside and said, "oh, I thought these were free."
