Our u haul truck felt like it was going to die any given mile. I didn't expect it to be perfect, but it ran a little less well than expected. The truck was clean inside, no funky smells. I did have a couple of issues with my reservation itself. My drop off location was randomly changed a few hours after i picked it up. To a location that was impossible for me to do given gas is $5/gallon. I spent $200 in gas alone and was asked to drive another 60 miles. The message said that my drop off location was full. When i took my truck back there was nothing but a trailer there. So why was my reservation changed!?!?!???!?!?!?!?!?!? Also, yall should change mobile pickup screen that uses gps to see if u r at the right location. My phone was not connecting and there was no way to bypass this feature. I couldnt do mobile pick up or dropp off, and it is the first screen that pops up. Change it to allow the user to enter the address or take a pic. It's frustrating.Shalisa D.

I was unimpressed by the Uhaul employees lack of concern about a group of truck renting customers not wearing masks in the store. Uhaul in Eureka additionally demonstrated a lack of concern for the safety of their customers and community during the worst outbreak of COVID here in Humboldt since the beginning of the pandemic. I will go elsewhere to rent a truck next time.SCOTT D.

We were overcharged $1325 for a 1 day rental. First they lost the key to the van which I found hanging on the way. Then they put the return date as 30 September which is 27 days in the future. How the system did not catch the date error is due to bad programming. Also how someone didn't catch $1400 for a 6 hour rental is greatly beyond me. This issue will cause overdraft charges and kick backs from other things we used the card such as our rent which is connected to our credit report and is causing a lot of issues on our vacation. You folks are great. I arrived to pick up the pick-up I had reserved, for a quick moving job. Two different clients were having mental melt-downs for different reasons. The person at the counter stayed calm. He took care of the first persons error - she had not set the pin correctly in the tiny trailer and she was freaking out, for some reason. He then came back in and soothed a woman who was yelling something - not sure what her issue was, maybe a misunderstanding. She drove away. Phew, the people who work at U-haul sure have to deal with a variety of things. I have always had excellent service at this U-haul location. I tried doing an after hours return. After going through the online process U-Haul's website would freeze up. I tried at least 10 times and it never worked. I called the customer service number and was on hold for over 20 minutes before I gave up. The only thing slower than U-Haul's website is the customer service 800 number. It was stressing me because U-Haul charges an extra $20 if you don't complete the entire process. The fact that I was previously threaten with prosecution for stealing a trailer that an obviously stoned out of his gourd employee forgot to check in at this same U-Haul made it that much more aggravating.Ted K.

Service is poorâ€¦ communication is poorâ€¦ for a hitch/ electric wire job that was supposed to take only 3-4 hours took 9 hours.. I never received a call from uhaul.. I showed up after 5 hours then told I needed to wait another hour but after 2 hours I left and returned again after 2 more hours and found out my car was waiting for me without a callâ€¦ my car was scratched up due to the installation.. my car battery was dead and I had to get a chargeâ€¦ obviously they left my door open for those 9 hoursâ€¦Terrible experience!Harritta G.
When we got there, the person who works there (Matt) told us we had no reservation for storage. He was very rude and did not offer to help us at all. We then spent the next hour plus on the phone with U-Haul reserving another storage that was supposed to just be included with my one way rental. I added another storage unit (so that we had two) and then when I got off the phone they told me we only had the one that took me an hour to get from my original reservation that disappeared. Called back again (since Matt wouldn't help) and they said there was in fact only one storage reservation and they didn't have anymore available. Even though I reserved the two and they took my credit card and information for both units. What a hassle. Truck was filthy. My car was incorrectly loaded and secured by the customer service staff. Staff changed my drop off location and believe incorrectly charged me as compared to my reservation. When I get time, I am going to compare the receipts. However, the safety error from my incorrectly loaded and secured car cannot be overstated.Kevin O.

The truck was fine, but I also rented a storage unit, which was not. When I arrived there was already a lock on it, and when they cut the lock, it was occupied. The situation was rectified within a couple of hours, but that's still a couple of hours to of my day unnecessarily. I have no idea how you have a unit available without verifying that it's actually emptied. The parking lot is also a nightmare. They had so many trucks waiting to get cleaned that it was impossible to get out. Once again- really poor planning.PHILLIP F.

Customer service was poor. Never greeted by staff seemed as if helping me was a nuisance. Not hard to just say hi, how can I help you. I was actually unsure if I was being helped a kid walked over looking at his phone never looking up and not wearing a name tag. The personnel working at this location would probably have ignored me indefinitely had I not approached them and asked them if they worked there. Only one customer was there, to get propane, he too had to chase down one of the two employees to get a cylinder filled. These kids were probably working for the first time in their lives and it was clear to me that they lacked basic interpersonal skills necessary of an employee in an entry level customer service based role. After I chased one of these kids around for a bit and identified myself as a customer, he acknowledged my presence and then proceeded to remove the trailer with â€œUhaulâ€ printed all over it, off my hitchâ€¦ I had to dig it out of him that we were good to go, and that our encounter was complete. I suggest a mentor or adult be present at this location to oversee exchanges with customers.Scott T.

When you reserve equipment, for both the truck & the appliance dolly, actually reserve it for the customer! Both the truck I reserved wasn't available(I found out @5 pm the night before) & the appliance dolly wasn't available at all & was a big problem, as we had 4 appliances to move. The staff acted as though it was no big deal that we didn't have access to the dolly, even though it was scheduled a week before! The system of reserving equipment @ Uhaul is pointless, if you don't actually reserve the equipment at all. It caused a lot of headache on our behalf. I get that it's a busy moving time, but let customers know if the equipment isn't available to rent so they can make other arrangements! Please! Don't wait until 5pm, the night before, to tell us that you don't have the equipment we reserved! In a small community, there are few other options. GraciasELANAH A.

This was my worst experience I've had with Uhaul and I've had several rentals over the years. Customer service was the worst! Your cargo van was rented to me was dirty. There was white pet hair all over both Seats,food and candy pieces on the floor around the seat base the cargo van smelled of a foul manure smell. Smelled like a farm yard. You check out process is ridiculous!!!!!!! Wasted my time preregistering online because it says it will make things faster no it did not! They went asked for all the same Information I already entered in the preregisteration . What is the point of pre registering ? It was pointless amd a waste of time!With your new policy customers have to document and upload photos from their phone before they leave the premise or you take responsibility for damages, cleanliness, mileage and gas recorded. I was able to log in to the WiFi you offer at your store but your application was Not an easy process at ALL!!!!! You forgot to factor technical difficulties!!!!! I spent close to an hour trying to get the the information to upload and the photos would not upload and it would Continue to time out and I had to restart the whole thing again. I asked if there was anything they could Do to help they told me â€œ No there is not sorry you have to call the 800 numberâ€There was no manager to speak To I did call the 800 number ans had to hold forever before a representative picked up. I was so upset I did not have all this time time to I spend doing this not to mention the frustration it Caused! I've already started spreading the word not to go to this location to my friends and family this is the worst Uhaul location ever!!!!!Teanne D.
I've been moving my family from a three bedroom house into a four bedroom house 250 miles away for the last month. Three trips in a 20 foot, 17 foot, and 15 foot trucks and four van trips. U-Haul has been great. They dealt with one truck issue swiftly and professionally, and the moving help vendors (on both ends) when we have used them have been easy to schedule, fast, and professional. Probably saved 25% over a moving co. and was way more flexible. Never want to do it again, but U- Haul was great.DAVID T.

I was told to refill the gas to the level it was at when I picked up the vehicle. I thought this was weird, as you would think the vehicle would be full of fuel when you picked it up! The U-Haul staff failed to tell me that the fuel gauge is not accurate when filling up the truck it took about 3-5 minutes to register the correct fuel level. Therefore, I filled up the truck to the level that I picked it up at, and then 3-5minutes later the gas gauge continued to rise and I ended up putting in 3/4's of a tank of fuel instead of putting it below the half full mark This meant I spent $110.00 and I probably should have only spent about $50.00 tp $75.00. U-Haul refused to reimburse me anything. I believe it is a ploy to get people to put more fuel in the vehicles than they are required to do. The vehicles should be filled up when renting a vehicle that way when you return the vehicle, you return it full of gas.Brett M.

The equipment was clean when I picked it up and the lights worked properly when they were checked. The lights work on the trailer as long as the running lights do not receive power. And because I picked up the trailer in the daytime I was unaware of the issue. I drove about 700 miles during the night with no lights. I replaced the fuse in my wiring harness many times and would only get a few minutes until the fuse popped. This rental was more expensive than the rental of a 26' truck with a car hauler that I rented 2.5 weeks earlier. Where can I address this issue. I believe that a refund is in order.DAVID F.

The windshield on van was cracked. I went in and notified a worker that it was. He looked it up and said it was noted and I was good. When I returned it to Red Bluff, the guy noticed the crack and was going to charge me for it, had I not had a picture. Seems like a scam. Also, van had garbage in it from previous renters.Cameron G.

Very happy with the unit, but even with a reservation, was told there was no unit available. They kept looking and found the one I had reserved was not prepared for a new tenant, but thankfully rented it to me anyway since urgently needed. I was very unhappy with the online closure process. Only allowed one pic to be uploaded while requesting 3 and still sent me an email reminder of payment due after I had sent in the closure info....you could use some IT updates! My only reason for 4 star is that I was told twice from two different agents when I picked up the truck and returned it that the reservation I had for a storage unit was not available. When I objected they checked more carefully and saw it still needed to be cleaned but the cleaning was minimal and I insisted we would accept it as is. My move from Colorado to California under rather stressful circumstances was rather difficult but when I came to check in my trailer so that I could get the truck unloaded, I was met by Shannon. She was so friendly and helpful . The facility did not have the 10x15 unit I reserved and at this time, there wasnt even a 10x10 , so a 20' truck packed to the brim couldnt be unloaded. Sol was helping me in the office and remembered someone had moved out without checking out. He contacted the people regarding the unit and success! He went above and beyond customer service.
