The truck's battery was on its last leg, it barely started, all of the dashboard indicators would randomly drop to 0, and pretty much every maintenance indicator came on at some point during the drive. I called and communicated this and that I was nervous to shut the truck off for the final gas tank fill up due to fear of the battery dying. The employee told me to fill it up with the engine on and truck running, which is extremely dangerous and one of the first things they tell you not to do during beginner driving school. When I brought it back and I re-iterated this to the employees, nobody really seemed to care at all. I hope they submit the proper maintenance request before the next user has the battery and truck fail on them. Added a whole layer of unnecessary stress to an already stressful day.Paul Z.

Really loved the pick up experience with the APP. Truck was clean and everything went smoothly. However, we had some trouble with the APP upon returning the truck (could not take a picture of the dashboard because the app would go in error). I was double charged...waiting for a reply. On that double charge, I was charged ffir 35 miles ...I did not drive 35 miles. I drove from capital U-Haul to 509 Coleman st to life storage on South St and back to U-Haul drop off...no way that is 35 miles. Still waiting for a bill review. The rental app didn't work when I rented and turned in the vehicle. Turning it in was a nightmare. It was late at night and the app would not save the pics I took. I was charged for being at half a tank even though the dolly was missing and I used my gas to go back and get it!Kim C.

I never took delivery for my unboxes because they had issues with the trailer. I waited almost 3 hours from getting there at my reserved time at 10am to them handling other people, being short staffed, and also very unorganized. My boxes were sitting in the parking lot and just needed to be loaded on a trailer. Then after loading the trailer the trailer was defective. The worst part of all of this I keep getting billed every month for something I didn't receive and it's a pain to keep calling to get the charges reversed. The manager Rodnai Drew, of the location is also very slow to respond for a known issue.Ram L.

Couldn't get past the screen where it checks your location, which was super frustrating. You should be able to opt out of that check (and uhaul can charge customers extra for returning to the wrong place). Huge damper on my evening.Jestine N.

My rental was for 6 hours, I have completed my rental around 11 am and they asked me to return the truck BY 2:00 pm no even knowing where I was going to. I bring my belongings from FAYETTEVILLE! I never will be at Raleigh by 2:00 p.m. after 2:00 p.m they started to call like crazy! Rushing me to return the truck! Was the worse experience ever and was my first time renting a truck and storage. Rushing a client just because they don't have no more trucks to rent, like for real!!! I can't believe it! My daughter initiated renting the uhaul finalized 2/8 at 947a and I changed it to my name 2/13 finalized at 309p. We both spoke to Marilyn who needs further customer service and salesperson training. She initially talked to my daughter who was attempting adulting and ordering a truck. She was rude talked over her trying to end the call the order without helping her, helping to sale a first timer, ordered largest truck even with what my daughter told her she needed and had to put in it. She got a more experienced person on 2/13 and I had questions and countered her smart quick snappy responses. Rodnai Drew was met Thursday afternoon After my husband had talked to three people three stores trying to find out why our truck and mats would have to be from different stores. He kept getting transferred from Jessica when she was at store we needed to be at. The number I had to 716 in email wasn't the right number according to one of them just chaos. Friday morning I met her she made up for Marilyn 2/8 and 2/13 as well as having to talk to three stores and having to come in Thursday to speak to someone directly. She was a salesperson, friendly, patient and professional. Excellent representation for your company. She would be an excellent trainer for all management teams. Only issue is that if my husband who has undiagnosed OCD hadnt taken pictures of the trucks mileage when picked up verses what someone put on the contract we would have paid an excessive amount over mileage at drop off when in fact we were 20 under. There was no wait. The desk attendant was excellent, communicative and helpful. He walked into the yard with me and quickly helped me hook the trailer to my vehicle. I rate check out a 10 out of 10. The only reason I said no to the staff is because they was not very helpful the girl that was helping me was like didn't care what I was asking her at all so I letting her know that I didn't have a key and did they have a master key or something and she was like well there's nothing I could do about it you have to call a locksmith order for me to get it unlockedget so had to pay for a locksmith then when I got my truck it was on e and so when I went back in and asked why was the tank not full she's going to answer me and say well that's the only truck we got what can I say what can I do about it in a nasty demeanor way but other than that the supervisor of the store Miss RODNAI DREW but she's very helpful very polite had a pleasant communication and I really enjoyed. Talking to her and thank her so much for helping me out but her staff she needs to talk to them because the one girl that had on a hat she was tacky she had an attitude and it was very unpleasant and she needs to learn how to talk to customers and explain things better because if she have to look like that in the office then she really doesn't need to work there or her face twisted let's twist it and it's just unpleasant I wish that I had a chance to meet Miss. RODNAI DREW before I left to tell her thank you so much but she wasn't in the store when I went so please let her know that I said thank her from the bottom of my heart but she needs to have a sit-down talk with her staff when she's not around and how they should act towards customers But over all Miss. Most of the staff is pretty friendly. However, when there were no cars to move my stuff out of the storage, I went to the office and a lady there was like "oops, sorry, nothing we can do about that." Most she did was to offer for me to pay one of the small trolleys. We arrived at the facility before 7:00pm, we notified the employee that we would be cutting it close. When my wife arrived at 6:57 pm as she was walking in the employee on duty refused to help her and directed her to check in via online. She was short in tone and obviously in to big of a hurry to help. We thus had to keep the 26' Truck for the entire weekend because of this. Which put our things at high risk being that I had To fly out the next day, so had to park it at a hotel until Sunday. The when returning, the young man who helped me was VERY NICE! but when I went to use my code and key and I didnt Work. Fun Aly after and hour of calling and complaining (it magically started working) I need Some sort of compensation extension on my rental or something. I'm a social Media influencer and have a far reach, then the manager FINALLY called today with and attitude with my wife. Giving excuses about she has a child etc etc.. Rodnai was her name. The provided access card did not allow access to the bathroom on the first floor in the storage facility. After normal business hours the access card would not work for the sliding doors. Used the online sign in and it assigned me a room that was already rented to someone. That facility is very poorly run. Your system availability does not match what is actually free. Also I rented a 5x10x10 off the website recommendation that it would be big enough to fit a 1-2br 1200sft apartment and that was a complete lie. I have to rent another unit because it was so small. Out of 9 curtesy carts they only had 3 mattress carts which were still to small to move my mattress and one flat cart that had a broken wheel. I did self check in and it assigned me a unit that was already rented and had a lock on it. When I went back to get another one that was bigger that one was also rented already even though it said it was available on their system. The person at the desk didn't know what they were doing. Forgot to give me my keycard. And the bathroom would not unlock for us even though after swiping the card it said it was unlocked. First I moved out of the storage on July 14th, 2021, with the assistance of the U-haul movers, and renting and paying for a U-haul truck on 7/14/21. When the U-haul movers finished, one of the movers gave me my 2 set of keys to the Lock, and NO LOCK!. I asked where was the Lock because they knew I was moving out (permanently). He told me it's still on the storage door. I couldn't believe it!. I finally was able to get through on the phone to U-haul, the first person said they would let someone know. Then a few days later I receive a late notice letter. I called again and the 2nd person said they will have U-haul on Capitol call me. I received another letter the next day with late charges. Not being able to go to the storage myself, because I just started a new job and the time's of operation conflicted with my new work schedule. I called again#3, and finally spoke with someone who understood and remembered me, there that moving out day July 14th, 2021. FINALLY the issue was resolved.Tonya D. | Overall Experience

I purchased theClimate/Temperature controlled storage unit. The AC was not working properly. The main reason for obtaining the temperature controlled units is to store items from heat spoilage. I am giving U-Haul the national chain a VERY poor rating. The local people were nice and tried to accommodate a poorly run-company. Yolanda , which I assume was from your National cust service center, sent me to the Capital Blvd location from the original Chapel Hill location where the pods were to be stored. She reserved a 10x10x10 unit. I also called back to get another unit since the 10x10x10 was not large enough. I reserved a 7X23.5X6. When my movers arrived at the Capitol Blvd location. There was not place to park the truck. I had to drive around to finally find a place to park my car. There was one guy working the desk and a long line. It was chaotic. When i gave my reservation to the young man, I was then told the only units at that location were 5X5X6 units. I could possibly get four different units. He was not sure if they were rented or not. I had to walk to the units to see if they were actually open and not rented out. What kind of system makes reservations but actually does NOT have what you reserved? Moving is so stressful and to have this debacle from U-Haul is highly unprofessional and unacceptable. I am so frustrated that I even used U-Haul. I would have been much better off going with a less crowded, closer storage unit. The stress of being told my six pods were cancelled, I did not think that I no longer needed to be with U-Haul! I arrived after 6 pm to unload and move into a storage unit. The lady running the office was worn out from the day. I could tell that she was spent, but she remained professional and accommodating to insure that I found a unit large enough (I had to increase once I saw the size I booked). This facility was extremely busy, right up to closing time at 7 pm. I can imagine that she was understaffed for the busy Saturday. Upon setting up my storage unit at this location, my account was not set up correctly twice within the span of 3 months. I almost had all of my stuff moved out of my storage unit 2 times because the previous staff did not file the proper paperwork in order to secure my unit. This after each time, I verified with them before leaving the location making sure there was not anything I needed to sign or check. Yet, despite this they still failed input my information properly. However, I will say that with the new management that came in this location has gotten a lot better than it was before. I just had a horrific experience upon moving into the unit. The main reason I am leaving such a review is because I had to put a majority of my belongings into storage while waiting for my house to be built. When I closed my account yeasterday the key to my unit did not work. I was told if I lost my key I would have to call a lock smith. I the mean time as i waited with professional moving crew that cost $129/ hour TWO OTHER people came in and complained that they could not get into their storage units for the same reasons. One of the persons has 2 units and couldn't get into either and cut his own locks off. Finally some one with U-Haul came and Grided my lock off. it took an hour and cost me $129 for movers to sit and wait. I was very pleased with the service that I received. The unit was large and clean and I feel safe entering the storage unit. The service associate Justice was very courteous, professional and was able to expedite me obtaining my storage unit. The store was very busy and he worked quickly to assist all of the customers while the General Manager stood outside doing nothing but watch the line of customers grow. When the General Manager decided to come inside to assist, her behavior displayed that she really was not too happy about working. Justice meanwhile went above and beyond and seem to really enjoy his job in helping others. Booked a storage unit in person and the person working there gave me a storage unit that was already in use on the first floor. Since they did not have storage units of our size on the first floor, they then assigned us one on third floor. This unit was also in use by another customer. I was very unhappy with my experience in storing my household items at the U-Haul down town Raleigh facility. Upon moving my items into my new home, I came to realize that I had a roach infestation that had occurred in my pack boxes I stored there for 5 months. I put in a complaint and it was not resolved successfully, after submitting a claim requesting to have my new home exterminated. The $125.00 estimate to have my home exterminated was denied by their RepWest insurance company that's supposed to help with U-haul customer complaints. Saying that no negligence was found on the behalf of U-Haul. This determination I disagree with, because they should maintain their property by having it treated for insects to avoid these type of occurrences. Before submitting this review I made one last effort to reach out to Management and got no response. So, since the company has emailed me asking about my U-haul experience, I'm left with no other choice but to be honest and say... Two opposite comments: Ruben, your employee at the Raleigh location, was fantastic. Knowledgeable, patient, friendly, responsive, a stellar representative for your company. I cannot give him enough stars. Really took of us. The opposite issue is safety that has nothing to do with your team. Three young adults and I ended up moving stuff into the unit around 9:30 pm. There was a man there, he did not appear to be the security guard. He left the door propped open with wood slivers while. He stood with his back to the door on the phone with a cigarette. He also did not appear to be a customer nor work there. My biggest issue is that he propped the door for a good length of time (15 minutes??) after dark. It did not feel secure. I'm not sure why he was there but he was not moving anything. If he's a security guard, my suggestion would be he does not prop the door open because that defeats the entire purpose of needing a key card to get inElizabeth P. | First Impressions
