Very rude and unreasonable management (at least I believe it was management I spoke to). Fuel needle ever so slightly on/below the 1/4 tank line (which was the amt in the tank when I picked up, although had no proof).....actually the needle read slightly lower.... but I reasoned was pretty much 1/4 tank at pick up. Upon return, it was at the 1/4 mark when gassed up but obviously read ever so slightly below it (as can be seen in the picture) after driving from gas station to Uhaul depot to drop off .....another $2 worth would put it back. Because of this, Uhaul decided charging me $60+ for fuel surcharges etc was fair!! Unbelievable! Fundamentally and morally WRONG! Couldn't get anywhere with the person I spoke to at the Charlottetown depot when I called. She would constantly interrupt while I was speaking. Very, very frustrating!! I called the toll free # at Uhaul and spoke to an agt there. Completely different experience. The agent was kind....and patiently listened to what I had to say. Thanks to her I was able to have this fee refunded back to me. Sorry, but after this experience, I would not recommend this location to anyone!Shawna H.

I ordered dolly and it was wasn't available at the location. As a result, my moving got a lot harder because of that. If they told me in advance that dolly was not available when you pick it up it would have been helpful but they never did. Upon my pick up, I dealt with two employees. A lady and guy. The lady was very unfriendly and I really felt mistreated as a customer. The guy was so so. U-Haul really needs to train their employees with courtesy and respectBRIAN Y.

There is no parking available, so if you rent a truck or van you have to either get dropped off or park your car in a nearby shoppers drug mart parking lot, as well the vehicle wasn't topped up, which makes it difficult to gauge how much fuel to put in vehicle, sheet with suggestions was somewhat helpful but pretty good chance you're either returning it with more fuel or less fuel and paying for it each time. The customer service person is not very helpful. She is very harsh, not friendly and make us feel like we are very annoying to her. I order the 10'' van and it turned out I got the 15" I booked in a different location it said available the just email saying that I have to pick up in a different location just the night before the booking date and no representative person call me for the arrangement.Huy Phong L.

No wiper fluid in truck. Low tire indicator was on when I was leaving, I asked to have it checked and they said it was fine. The check out process was weird. An employee came up to me and started checking the truck over, while I was doing the online check out. Asked me what I was doing and when I said I was checking out, he got short with me and told me to stop, that he was doing it. Sorry for following the instructions in the email. I chose mobile pick up and drop off for a reason. He said this wouod have been in my contract, he said â€˜let me see your papers'. When I told him I had received no papers at all, he said â€˜thats impossible, you would have gotten papers for sure'. Poor communication.Sam M.

Have a full tank of gas when the truck is rented and get it returned with a full tank. It's a pain to try a guess how much to put in to get it back to the particle tank where it was. I put in about an extra $20.00 more than I needed to to get it back to where it was (actually more) when I rented it.GREGORY S.

We booked our uhaul for 8 am and were notified days before our move that it was pushed to 4:30 pm. There was a note on file to contact us if a truck became available sooner. We were contacted about a truck that became available at 1 pm, we were told it was being held for us, and on arrival found out that it had been rented out. Service was great but we had to go with a smaller truck (15')than we wanted(17' or a bit bigger).We were told trucks were shirt right now.We picked up our truck at 8 am and told it had to be back at 2 pm sharp.I understand others need to move also but we would of liked the truck for the day.We did get moved but had to do extra trips with my sons vehicle and ours which one more trip in the uhaul would if saved.Years ago you would rent the truck and have it for a full day but I realize things are different times now.JOHN M.

Fuel gage needle was just under full mark when started driving truck. We drove 9 klm which needle didn't move much. I put $20 fuel post usage which put fuel needle way over the Full mark. Seems a bit unfair considering we only drove 9 klm or 5.593 miles. Otherwise it was great experience.ROBERT D.

My request from Uhaul was a rental on the 30th to move out of my apartment and a rental on the 8th to move into my house which was closing. On the morning of the 30th I was informed less than 2 hours from my rental time that I would not have access to the truck I had booked nearly a month in advance. The representative on the phone was sincerely apologetic; however, outside of a potential rental later offered no solution to me outside of a $50 credit. This made life quite difficult for me and with no advanced warning I had no time to plan an alternate solution. I went in later that day to return some unused boxes, while I was there I (very politely and understandingly) inquired on the status on my rental on the 8th. I simply wanted to ask about how certain my rental was as I couldn't have what happened on the 30th repeat itself on the 8th. The representative was quite defensive and not very friendly to my inquiry. I understand customer service and I understand that circumstances are out of the employees hands; however, treating a client who is simply asking a question and wanting reassurance for their future rental is controllable. I consider myself a very understanding person, but the people skills displayed wasn't overly positive and the fact that I was given to little time to make plans for my first rental was underwhelming. The rental on the 8th was good, the rep at the store that day was attentive and pleasant. I don't believe I'll be using Uhaul in the future and will likely seek other options. As a piece of constructive criticism, I might recommend either having an emergency truck to offer clients in situations like I'd experienced on the 30th or at least a 24 hour notice so they make alternate plans. I understand some circumstances can't be foreseen, but they CAN be planned for, and this is where this location/Uhaul had let me down.JESSE K.

Well this was quite possibly the worst experience I have ever had. I have never used uhaul before and I can promise you I will never use uhaul again. I booked a 26 foot truck two weeks in advance from my move. Three days before my move uhaul called to cancel. Uhaul provided me with a 10 foot truck for Saturday, so I had to find another truck to help. Uhaul did not explain how payment works and what I would be paying for, I specifically asked the woman that called me to cancel my truck how much I would be paying, she told me $19.99, not until I was picking up the truck did I learn I was paying for mileage. When I returned the truck I then learned I would also being paying for fuel. I have used moving companies in the past and I absolutely will be using moving companies in the future. I will never use uhaul again, the staff on the phone gave me false information, the staff at the location were rude and didn't give me all the information I needed as well, and I will never be back nor will I ever recommend uhaul or say a good thing about uhaul. There was nothing good about this experience. I'm surprised this business is still afloat with how it operates. Train your employees to give your customers the proper information for starters. The price of the trucks are reasonable, but the mileage rates are astronomical!! That cost more than it did me to refuel the tank. I understand that there are costs associated with "wear and tear", but I only traveled like 100 kms, not 1000! I can't imagine what that bill looks like if I had to take one off island.Laura L.

Service was great and fast. The staff at this location are wonderful. The van I rented was great. My issue is with the hidden costs and the after-hours self-return process is far too clunky. To the point that it appears deliberately difficult to use to just make you give up and pay the $20 fee. This process could easily be fully automated. And there's no reason for a $20 fee for check-in. It would take staff 2 minutes. As for hidden fees: the van is advertised at 19.95, but it's actually closer to $50. I booked for three days and paid $144. I don't mind paying for good service and products, which U-Haul has. But be upfront about how much it will actually cost.Douglas D.
