I had a horrible experience with my pick up location in South Carolina when returning the UHAUL. One of the workers named Lexi at the 1500 Charleston Avenue location in SC was rude ASF & refused to help me when I called about problems I was having with the auto transport. She even hung up on me twice and my family and I had to figure things out in the rain. Overall 2/10 for the experience at UHAUL. Horrible introduction to this town. A shame.

The cab was pretty dirty and I was told that there was a quarter of a tank (which was also on the paperwork) so I was expected to return it with a quarter when it was on the gas light when I first got in. I ended up spending over 50$ on gas when I shouldn’t have had to.

My pick up experience was great. The young lady who help was very helpful. Upon return the manager was angry with one customer who had a complaint and when it was my turn I felt the aggression towards me with a simple question. So my recommendation would be customer service friendliness. We all were waiting for almost an hour but no one had to be met with aggression from a manager. I always feel you get the spirit you give off and his was not very friendly. The other young lady was trying to help him but was not very knowledgeable of contract information. She was friendly and could not explain and he was not trying to assist her so frustration ran high in this building on that day. Cross training in a business is a must Take this from someone who worked customer service for 20 years

When I came back to bring my keys, the sales person Natasha was dealing with a customer complaint and managed to take care of me at the same time. She deserves a pat on the back and a bonus for dealing with a pro sematic customer and handling my transaction like a pro at the same time. As well, the gentlemen that completed my pick up was awesome and the staff as a whole were welcoming and friendly. Best Uhaul experience I've ever had hands down. Thanks for having a great team. Made my move easy and helped me keep to my schedule. 100/10!

Pickup was fine. Drop-off was a disaster. I told my pickup agent where I lived and where the best drop-off locations would be: Mount Pleasant or downtown Charleston, SC. I later received a text saying that I should drop off at a different location, several miles away in a different town. This was at 5:30 pm Sunday afternoon -- after business hours, unfortunately. After several unanswered calls to U-Haul's 1-800 number and an unsuccessful attempt to drop this trailer off at the location I first indicated would be best, I had to haul it all the way back home and wait until the next day to call a scheduling office in yet another distant town (Savannah) to ask permission to drop it off at that original location. This would mean I'd be late to work, but without that permission, I'd have to pay a "substantial fee," the agent explained. Suggestions for avoiding this: (1) Provide all your booking agents with a map showing the drop-off location closest to the destination address. (2) Hire more agents to answer phones. I was put on indefinite hold twice, where no one ever picked up. Even when I got a call back, I was put on hold for several minutes before an agent picked up.

Absolute worst customer service experience I have ever had. Everything that could possibly go wrong, did. I had made a reservation online for both a truck and a storage facility. Upon going to two different U-Haul locations, neither of my reserved things were available. I flew to Columbia, South Carolina from Maryland that morning and had six hours to move my daughter out of her apartment. I wasted more than two hours, re-answering inane questions I had already answered online, only to have re-registration time out two different times because they took too long. I don’t understand why U-Haul has a website or a reservation system at all, if the things you reserve ahead of time are not available when you show up. The manager clearly didn’t care, and this was the worst customer service I’ve ever had in my entire life. I will be writing negative reviews on any website I can to explain this horrible experience. The only bright spot, was one employee named Natasha, who finally was able to get us a rental unit. Otherwise, I would have made a flight only to have to fly back with my stuff still in your truck and no solutions on what to do next.

I was told that you have to have a "safe move" on van and truck rentals. This is not true and, in fact, illegal in the state of SC, according to the SC Department of Insurance. When I questioned this, the General Manager was very rude, and asked me if I wanted the van or not, before he allowed me to explain that I booked the van online and was able to deny it. When I got my confirmation on the app after exiting the building, it said I had denied coverage. I called the and spoke with Joanna in customer service, who said there was merely a hold and a note was made on my account that the location would take of the $75.00 charge when I returned it. The location did not. I'm now on customre service for the second time becuase the location was dishonest. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, the Department of Consumer affairs, and letting the Department of Insurance know about this pracitce. I was intimindated in to taking the rental with the fee in advance as I had to have the van that day and that time. The Manager Al S. was rude and in my opion dishonest.

The general manager here has no clue what he’s doing and he’s rude about it. He tried to charge us another month of rent because he didn’t pay attention or do his part of the move out process until he called me saying I was past due and I had to tell him what he was supposed to do. I’ve seen him be rude to customers and he has been rude to me when I rented a truck here. It was a “guaranteed rental” and we did not get the equipment we needed with that truck rental like we were supposed to. Again, he didn’t tell me that we wouldn’t be getting the appliance dolley, I had to go ask and he did not apologize for the issue. He just said “well I don’t have one of those to give you” and we barely got the last regular dolley. He had to run around and find one for us. Very disorganized location with horrible communication.

The “owner” Alh Sims would benefit from a customer service class. He was rude and unwilling to discuss issues. I reserved a 17’ truck to move 16’ flooring. When I went to pickup the floor space was only 14’. I asked Mr sims what size truck I needed to get 16’ floor space? His reply was “use your tape measure, I don’t know.” The store would not accept. AAA or AARP discounts. The owner treated other employees poorly even though they were helpful Very poor experience. After 10+ rentals over the last 5 years, I will need to find a better alternative.

The employees there are not accurate. Miss angel is the only one that was willing to help and get things back together. They canceled my storage. Not once but twice, which held up me having a U-haul truck for 3 days, instead of just 1 day, I was unable to get into my storage unit 3 times after doing a purchase agreement. There's a lady there with a very bad attitude that has long dirty blonde hair.But frizzy and I've been called today about the truck when I told angel that I would need it for an extra day because of the fact that girl got rid of my storage unit.And I was packed up to download one load.And then now they keep on calling for the truck. I feel like i'm being Harassed , when they do that , but is the inaccuracy And the lack of communication Beyond employees and the general manager

Alh was very helpful and courteous, but the process to get the truck and storage unit was extremely slow. I was at the counter for easily 50 minutes before everything was complete. And that was after making online reservations days before.

I would be more of a regular customer if I could have a card. Maybe a U-Haul card that I could just scan in and walk out and come back and scan it again if I have to when I bring the thing back. Or I could scan the U-Haul card and then scan my credit card and leave. Just make it easy for a super regular customer. Especially in the fall. I pick up leaves for my garden and would only in bags. Good Morning Al, I was very satisfied with the individual that helped me yesterday upon arrival, Lacey. She was very attentive and helpful to us getting settled in to our unit. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about the experience leading up to my arrival. I called 3 times and my wife called once. Collectively we waited on the phone in excess of 20 minutes for one simple question that never was answered because you stated you were the only one in the office. The third time I called you I told you I had a quick question and you said you’re going to have to continue holding as you were the only one in the office. I told you I had already waited and called several times and you placed me back on hold. Upon my arrival you were there and you told the individual working to only work out of one till bag “3” because you didn’t want to have to count all of the bags every night and it makes it harder on you, your child was there and you were yelling at the child in the break room on several occasions of being there. As you were leaving you told Lacey if she had any questions to call another co worker not to call you. Lastly you walked out and I watched and even took a photograph of you putting your child into your vehicle that was parked in the handicap parking spot. The lack of professionalism from the first interaction until the last is very disappointing. I have forwarded this email to U-Haul corporate in hopes they are able to rectify the situation and provide a better environment for customers and employees a like. V/R Shane Smith

Needs professional people running the place and the trucks are ragged and the alignment was terrible and transmission sounded like it was about to blow up. I was afraid the truck would break down and they would blame me.

Great staff and they knew how to work around the UHaul online ordering bug. We actually had made a reservation for a uhaul and some supplies at another location, I received a texted with the pickup location and went to get the trailer, but he supplies were sold and at the original location, but the staff arranged to get me the supplies from their location and all was good.

Service was fine and the location is convenient. My problem is with your vehicle fleet. I rent a truck for $30, pay for the mikes I drive it, which was only 25 miles, and then refill the tank to the level where I found it. That’s where the problem lies and always seems to be. 25 miles took over 8 gallons! Boy glad I didn’t need to go any real distance….

The reservation I had made did not seem like it made a difference. I had a 9:30 appointment for just a tow dolly which was made almost a week in advance and had been confirmed in advance. Once there, early even, it took until after10:30 for the tow dolly to get checked in and then rented out to myself to hook up. Was told somebody was going to come out and hook up the tow dolly trailer and verify the installation, but after waiting another 15 minutes of sitting there waiting and nobody coming out to assist, but also expected to keep my normal reservation return time even though I had already lost almost 2 full hours of the 4.5 hour reservation. It was not a pleasant experience from start to finish regrettably so.

Customer service inside the store was not overly helpful. They had to send me the text message 3 times to get the picture of my license. You should be getting the copies of my license. I am paying you for a service not the other way around. There were no instructions give for returning the rental except park the truck under the owning and return the key to the box. She said there would be a QR code to scan for returns, but the QR code was for rode side assistance. She never told me I would have to download the app to return the vehicle. Also I was not aware that I would have to use the app to take pictures therefore the key was already in the box and the vehicle locked by the time I figured this out. She did tell me about the gas, but that was it. Pretty poor instructions and customer service if you ask me!!! I’m sure you’ll charge me the $20, so maybe you can use it towards paying a better employee that actually cares about their job instead of hiring someone who probably couldn’t keep a job at a fast food restaurant.

Both the employees that help me did a fantastic job. The woman who rented me the equipment was very helpful and made the process very easy. The guy that helped when I returned the equipment was very friendly and thanked me for the my business. I will definitely recommend this location and plan to come and do business again.

Make sure the person at the register is knowledgeable of how to charge people. I came in to pick up a truck I had reserved for $39.95 and ended up having to pay $122 up front because the guy charged me for 30 miles even though I said I was only going around 10 miles. From pickup to return, I only used 7 miles. Usually when I rent a U-Haul, I don’t have to pay until I return it. I paid 3 times the amount and now I have to wait several days to get the difference sent back to my card. That could’ve been avoided if he had been taught the proper way to do a rental. Also, this was the 2nd time that I’ve rented a U-Haul truck (the other was in January 2024) and was told the gas is higher than it is and I need to bring it back on the higher amount. I had to get them to change it before I left with the vehicle so that I wouldn’t get charged unfairly.

Some staff were great. But there were staff that I spoke to that were more concerned about the conversation they were having. My card to swipe did not work after 2 days. When I tried to get help the young man was too busy arguing with his baby mother. I will find another uhaul place to do business with. To top it off he made me feel it was my fault he charged my card after being charged for an empty unit. If he would have been doing what he is supposed to do he would know that I was gone for 2weeks. But again he was too busy with personal conversations.

The drop off was not a good part of the experience at all. My transaction was not attached to my account and at 5:43 Eastern time, dropping it off with no information or customer support is not an experience any customer wants. If you're going to have an app at least make sure it works!

I wish it were more accessible with my disabilities and it would be helpful if there was 24 hour access when moving into storage to allow for more time for someone who has disabilities and mobility issues resulting in being unable to move very quickly and having very little help. It also doesn't help when it is on such short notice due to leaving a domestic violence situation, along with difficulties getting information needed and actually being able to get the reservation made in a timely manner when I needed it. I have already discussed this with several people along the way, although I realize that very rarely do people truly hear and understand the struggles and limitations of those with disabilities or going through a domestic violence situation, most less both.

Excellent and helpful service. The manager/GM went above and beyond to help me on two separate occasions (1-helped me replace a key card and 2-gave me a friendly call to inform me that my unit lock wasn’t fully engaged) Would recommend this Uhaul storage facility to others in the area!

Rented a 10 x10 unit online. But when I arrived I found the space was two 5 x 10s with two small roll up doors. Could not use the unit as the doors were each too small. Had to make other plans. A refund was issued to my credit card. Staff was great to return my call with offer to provide a 10 x 10, but I had already located a space elsewhere.

I loved the location and the convenience. The staff was very helpful...The Managers (( Mike & Al)) were super kind and worked with me during my time of need to make sure I wouldn't loose my things ... ((Tiffany)) went above and beyond to make sure I received all of the documentation to close out my unit. I had been with U-Haul for about 9 months and would recommend this location to others. If I had to truly critique, I would say it would be nice to offer move in specials like $1, $5, first months rent to new comers. The over all condition of the LARGE facility is nice but some areas could use better lighting to see inside the unit when you are in the warehouse at night. FINALLY please offer 24hr access for those of us who may be night owls and need to do searching or moving after normal business hours.. I again thank you for taking care of my things and not being total SHARKS like some storage facilities can be and only want to auction off your things!!! THANK YOU!!!! *Tracey D*

Much cleaner and well maintained! The place I moved from to UHaul went up every six months on the price, gave us water damage, and allowed a break in. UHaul was great to deal with!

This was my first time getting a storage unit with Uhaul and it was great! It was super secure and I felt safe leaving my things here. There were a few occasions where the area where the inside units are were messy, but that is because some people don’t clean up after themselves. All the staff members that I have come across are really nice and the store manager is a rockstar! If I ever need my things stored again, I will definitely use Uhaul!

Very unfriendly and uncooperative staff including the so called General Manager Al. The place is very hot when its supposed to be climate controlled. The front office staff let us wait to talk to them when they are just playing with their cell phones including the General Manager. Stay away from this place

I did not have a good experience from the get-go. It begin with the phone call to follow-up on an email i recieved for a free storage unit for one month. I was left on hold for over 35 minutes until I hung up and went ahead and called the 1 800 number for UHaul and recieve the customer experience i have been known to expect. The attendant was extremely rude,. As I pulled into the parking lot, the store rep came out of the store. Throwing his arms frailing around doing cartwheels to tell me that I have returned my rental in the wrong area. He continued to be persistent about my existence on the property. I was only pulling out of the way to go inside for information on a storage unit. I went inside the store showroom and waited there for over 15 minutes before he arrived back inside along six other new customers. The attendant assisted all the other customers before assisting me. That is when the snowball grew. I really do not think the store representative is in the best interest for the overall experience and expansion for U-haul.

This was my first time getting a storage unit through U-Haul and check in was easy. Angel was super nice and helpful with showing me the facility and how to access my unit. When ever I need to move again, I will definitely be using this location again.
