I just have to comment on the efficiency of this location and the manager, Sonya. Everything went very well with the rental, as a whole. While Sonya is a no non-sense businesswoman, she is a real gem at heart. I appreciate that about her and the operation she runs there on 68th Street in Byron Center.

I believe the manager was Amy Swill. Everytime I have been there she visibly and vocally is in a horrible mood and treats her co-workers like crap in front of customers. She seems to pick in Rick Poll who is always very friendly and helpful. I cannot believe she is allowed to be in charge of anyone or anything. Please address her consistently awful behavior. It makes try to rent anything an uncomfortable experience.

Staff was uninterested in the customer having a smooth and good experience and there was a lack of hustle (except for the general manager). I waited for about 15-20mins before an employee appeared in the lobby, was checked in by a new person (process took much longer than any check in process I've had with UHaul and then I was still asked if I would have the truck back in time). Lack of communication with employees - when I went to get into the truck one employee had checked out for me, another had taken the keys out, so we had to wait additional time for them to track the keys down. Upon returning the truck, I had some questions about the return. I walked into the lobby to see a line of 8-9 people almost out the door. I waited for 10 mins in line, and never even saw an employee. Several people simply put back items and walked out because the wait time was so long. No one knew if employees were even there or not! This location is much closer to my house, but I will not be returning.

I was assisted by the manager, Sonya Will. She was able to get me and another customer taken care of quickly (I booked and paid online, which I highly recommended in advance). She handed me over to another associate (whose name I didn't catch) who prepped the trailer for me. This young lady seemed to be very new to the job. I had to show her how to find hitch and ball ratings and how to connect the tire inflator to the hose. Nonetheless, I was on the road in a minimal amount of time. At my first stop for fuel I found the right two tires to be very low on tread (my fault for not checking before I left) but this was my only complaint about the trailer. It pulled straight and true. Load them as instructed and you will do well.

Being that it is winter you should have a scraper in the vehicle to clean windows from ice and snow. Put a price on them for 25.00 if they come up missing when someone rents the vehicle

The trailer that was checked out to me had dirty on the floor and an appliance cart in it as well. The door was never opened to the trailer when I picked it up. It would have been seen that it was not cleaned and the appliance dolly in there had the door been opened up to check it out.

The app was the worse experience for self service I've had. It took the staff less time to get me my truck while waiting on the customer rep through the app. The app kept saying I put the same phone number in for a secondary number that I did for the reservation when I didn't. Not recommending the app. The staff saved this experience.

I was very pleased with the whole experience that I had other than the key drop box. The vehicle I was returning had a key phob connected to the key and it wouldn't fit into the drop box. I tried prying on the box to be able to properly drop my rental off and the door fell open and that made me very nervous for extra charges. Other than that, it was as close to perfect as you could get!

Very dissatisfied. The whole experience was ridiculous hassle and frustrating. The employees at both the pick-up and drop off locations gave inaccurate information and lacked any customer service skills. To improve service, U-haul should hire and train employees to be able to use your computer system properly, enter the order correctly, and answer questions when the order on the printed receipt does not match the order showing on the online reservation. Also, when the rental truck is returned, the employee checking the vehicle in should advise the customer that the full amount will be charged and the prepaid amount will be refunded in 3-5 days. I was told the difference would be charged (full amount minus the prepaid amount) would be charged. Employees at both the pick-up and drop off locations provided false information, could not answer specific questions regarding the order with respect to the drop off location, date of return, and mileage charges. Would recommend using Penske, Budget, or ANY other rental company instead. Even if the cost is more - it would be worth it to avoid the terrible experience provided by two separate locations of U-Haul.

Bad 1st impression.. Staff not very friendly. I had an 8 o'clock reservation and I did not leave there till 9 o'clock. I waited well over a 1/2 hour before I spoke with anyone and there was no one in line. I definitely did not feel like a priority and would most likely rent from a different location next time. Other than that, the truck was fine and the check in and check out process was efficient.

The check in process is still long. Work on how to get the data you need quicker. It makes it difficult when there is a line of people and one person working. It seems that a users profile is not used by the checkin process and it should. an API call for the data would help so that data is populated faster and saved.

My adventure in moving was pleasant because of the uhaul staff at 68th St in Grand Rapids MI. Moving is psychologically sad stressful usu not voluntary no money fear of the unknown uncertainty and physically exhausting; clients appear at their worst when renting equipment to DIY their move usu late unprepared lost their license (customer in front of me said in an angry abusive tone, “I lost my license I got a picture of the front” my thoughts: 🙄 dumb jerk that might not be legit & it's the barcode that's read & uploaded you hick idiot!) no credit card (again: meannatured disgruntled hick idiot) incapacitated (digital impairment devices should be installed AT THE ENTRANCE of the parking lot!) inexperienced incompetent (if you can't back a trailer or park a 15' truck then you shouldn't operate it); clients psychologically deflect these emotions onto family friends bystanders AND uhaul staff. Sonya kept a smile on her face and expertly got the hick idiot's situation resolved and somehow got him on his way so he could poison the day for others in his path. Then she cheerfully greeted the next 15 customers with courtesy kindness and deft capability. The cargo and cab of the truck I rented was immaculate: clean windows, new wipers, smooth OH door, awesome huge mirrors, the dolly and pads were stocked and available. My adventure in moving was pleasant because of the uhaul staff at 68th St in Grand Rapids MI. Thanks. P.S. to hick idiot jerks everywhere: if you can't be civil then get out.

To begin we were guaranteed a 20ft truck (the only size that would work for moving to a new state) at a specific location nearby. The day before pick-up we were contacted and told that truck size doesn't exist at the guaranteed location and we could drive to a further location for a 15 ft truck (way too small!) They should've delivered the truck to our location instead of making us drive 3 hours round trip, taking 3 hours out of a workday and losing us that part of a days paycheck and wasting our time and stress. Once we got the truck unloaded and headed to the storage unit we'd pre-registered and that was included free with our one way truck rental, the trouble and headaches kept coming. We were originally given a 10x5 at another facility, but when we got to the unit, it's actual measurements were 5x5, even the worker said that happens, that U-Haul's dimension of storage spaces don't always match the dimensions they advertise them as, he measured it for us for confirmation. We had to call customer service (plus 15 minutes of in hold time) to locate another facility with the size we needed because the store was unable to look it up or call them. We had no way of double-checking with the new facility whether they actually had the unit available in that size, and the worker at the one we were at wasn't able to for us (ridiculous they can't call another store locally to check!). We had to blindly drive to the new facility. Upon arrival, check-in was smoothish. The young man wasn't thorough and missed some things we had to correct for him. Then he sent us to our unit and forgot to come unlock our unit for us so we had to go remind them we were there 30 minutes later to which the guy said he'd forgotten we were there. He didn't warn us of the sticky trap on the floor of the unit or point it out at all so I accidentally stepped on it moving something into the unit and ruined the bottoms of good running shoes. All of this made us late for our rented truck drop off time, and lower on fuel for drop off than we were supposed to be, we wouldn't have been if this hadn't all been wrong. Not only was this a drain on finite fossil fuel resources, it was a waste if our time, adding an additional hour of driving around for U-Haul's mistake. This all also made us so late that we missed a ticketed event and were unable to get a refund. Very dissatisfied with the company and the customer service as a whole for wasting at least 5 hours of our time, energy, and emotions.

Other than being very busy and under staffed the store was great. However my on-line reservation for the storage unit was worthless! Even though on-line confirmed my storage unit, when I showed up there was no unit available to rent. I tried calling another store but must have been directed to your main call center. The person who helped me reserve over the phone got me the correct size confirmed available but when I showed up to the store I was informed the only two units were on the second and fourth floor and there is no elevator. I finally went to a third location before I was able to get the unit.

Everything was very clean and easy to access. The only issue was one of the bay doors was broke so if someone in a regular vehicle had to wait to get a uhaul tuck in the bay and the number of carts availability. One guy had two carts which was all the carts on that end.
