Biggest problem is customer service. I spent 20 mins on hold just trying to rent a truck. When I arrived to pick up the truck I had to wait in a line and watched several employees walk into the customer service area, look around and leave. It seems companies are more worried about making money that customer service is a thing of the past.chris D.

The only issue I had was trying to rent a storage space at the same location I returned the truck to I made an online reservation for storage unit when I arrived at the location they did not have one in that size ready for me they explained that the reservation just put me in a queue but not actually reserved a space so I had to go to a different storage place for storage unit other than that my experience was wonderfulTANNER A.
The truck was not completely clean - mostly but not quite. The front end alignment was out of adjustment - it pulled to the right. A user manual on the truck would have been helpful. There were features on the truck that we had to go looking for. For example, there are buttons on the gear shift lever that looked like cruise controls, but but we never did discover how to turn cruise control on. The truck (a 10' van) got excellent gas mileage of 15.3 miles per gallon over approximately 1800 miles. It also had excellent power - we did not get slowed down on the hills.Michael W.
Service was excellent, only complaint is when we returned the trailer after normal business hours we called the phone number as directed and was on hold for such an extended time that we tried the chat with a rep and that was worse so we were unable to speak with any one.William S.

My experience was the worst it could have ever been you guys over charged me by almost 100$ u you guys have me 3 different charges for no reason I specified when I picked it up I would only need it for a couple hours and you guys charged me for 2 days for no reason then you guys charged me for 2 different trailers when I told you guys I just wanted change And when I realized you guys basically stole my money and I called the uhal I was a bit upset because of the issue and then the guy threatened me that he would hang up and not help me but my wife who speaks English well said are you trying to streal are money and then he changed his attitude Basically I felt like he wouldn't have helped me if my wife didn't say somthing then after that he told my wife and I that we had to fix the problem by going to are bank and that does not make sense when the guy admitted that his employees over charged us and messed up but he still wanted us to fix the problem by are self even though it was not are fault this experience was horrible and sick I will probably go leave a bad review on google as wellBASSAM A.

Van was super professional and extremely courteous. I made an error and without hesitation he was able accommodate me and was happy to do it. I don't experience this often enough. If I'm ever in need of a Uhaul, I will absolutely go out of my way to go to this location again. I would have been in a bad way had not it been for Van happen for me. I am super appreciative of him and Jack (I think) out slinging trucks in the pouring rain on a holiday. Best team I've seen in awhile. Thank you again, Joel.Joel W.

I had a reservation for 10am, and arrived at that time to pick up the trailer, but ended up waiting in line for almost 45 minutes. The staff appeared to be working hard, but it also seemed like there were inefficiencies, poor communication between indoor and outdoor staff, and a general lack of organization that slowed things way down. I would recommend having all the reservation documents printed ahead of time, with the vehicle location on the lot verified and keys ready to go as an opening task. Improve communication between reception and outdoor staffâ€"have reception pass customers off to outdoor staff, rather than have them leave the counter and take customers outside. For simple reservations or ones where customers have already provided all the needed info online, have some kind of rapid check out system where they don't need to wait in line to get everything. Also the staff member I spoke to who was trying to get me checked out also seemed to be in charge of manning some kind of chat system on the computer, and was trying to get answers to a customer question that had been submitted there while also trying to get me checked out. It slowed everything downâ€"I would remove that responsibility. Again, the staff was courteous and appeared to be working hard, but the system in place seems to be making their jobs a lot harder and some customers in line with me were understandably frustrated.Erin M.

Our customer service representative was the same person at pick up and drop off. He was sarcastic and overall rude. The gas tanks should be full at pick up . Having to guess gas mileage and attempt to fill the tank back to 3/8 is unnecessary and a waste of time for an already busy stressful move.Chasity S.

When I arrived at this location, the lady working the desk was more worried about talking to her friends than helping me. It took almost ten minutes just to check me in because she was talking to her friend while looking me up. She then was going to charge me almost double what it should have been because she had added items onto my order that I did not need. At the end, she handed me the keys to the vehicle with no instructions as to which vehicle it was or if there was anything I needed to do to before leaving the lot. When I got back, there is a place where you are supposed to park and wait in the vehicle for someone to come out and check it back in. After sitting in the vehicle for almost five minutes and nobody coming, I went inside the store. When I got there it was a different girl and she advised me to go back outside and just wait for someone to come. After about another two minutes, someone finally came and he was by far the most pleasant person I dealt with. Thank you Cameron, great customer service! Overall, I would not recommend this location to anyone. I have used this place many times in the past for both renting a truck and storage units and it is not the same as it once wasâ€¦Amanda L.

I won't be moving in to the unit until the 17th of january. When I was renting my truck the online process said that I can move into the unit on the 17th of january. After filling out the paperwork however it said I had to move in on the day I completed the paperwork aka the 5th of January. I rented a storage locker from the orchard street location in boise for a year and a half. They were always helpful and curteous, gave great customer service. When my payments got behind they worked with me to get a satisfactory agreement to close out my unit and get my belongings so i didnt lose them to auction. When I reported this to the office they said everything was fine. And it would be fixed (twice). We have no complaints about the location or the manager on duty. He was very helpful and kind. My dissatisfaction is purely with U-Haul as a company. We reserved (over the phone and with a credit card) a 10x10x10 interior unit over a month in advance of when we would need it. A day before we were to move in, a U-Haul representative called to confirm our reservation. A couple of days later when I logged into my U-Haul account to view my reservation and figure out how to access it, I noticed I had no current reservations. I could see a "past order" with the confirmation number that tied to what I thought was my existing reservation. I called the service line and waited on hold for 45 minutes. When I finally spoke with an agent, she told me that there was no record of my reservation, not even my email or my name, in the system. I was baffled. She spent another 30 minutes trying to figure out why we weren't in the system. Finally, I decided to print off all of the email confirmations that I had that would indicate we had indeed reserved a storage unit at this facility and take them to the storage location. When we arrived, the manager who was working promptly recognized the issue and let us know that there was not a 10x10x10 unit available and the best he could do was a 5x10x10. Essentially, he confirmed for us that the reservation means nothing and the units are first come first served. I would have never relied on this as a storage solution had I known we were not guaranteed the unit we reserved with our credit card. We found this to be completely unacceptable and believe U-Haul should make it much clearer to potential renters that the unit they have reserved may or may not be available to them when they need it. Again, my complaint is not with this Orchard St facility, just the company's rental policies.Erin N. | First Impressions

I reserved space for my daughter's move out from college several weeks in advance of the time needed. When I arrived I was told that the space was no longer available and that they had tried to contact me, but there was no contact information on my record. I know that Uhaul has my email since I have received confirmation. They proceeded to offer me a larger unit for more money -- one for 3x as much! Additionally, the room they finally found for me was in an older building with no elevator on the 2nd floor. No thank you! Clearly there is a breakdown in the communication between Uhaul and it's franchises. Why was my contact information not shared? If it had been, I could have more easily found another spot. Since my daughter was one of the last to move out, finding another space was a scramble. The staff, while friendly were not able to assist in resolving the problem, which could have been easily resolved by offering me a short-term lease on larger space at same cost.Kimberly J. | First Impressions

We had problems with our truck, the windshield wipers didn't work, and the gear shift was off. Also, it took 4 1/2 hours between three of us trying to reach U Haul by phone, when we were on the 890-mile drive. U Haul compensated by giving us one more free rent on one of the storage units, and gave us $120 coupon to put towards the other one. For a 4*4*10 the suggestion of it wasn't the best for a studio or a two bedroom as furniture would barely fit even if your bedroom breaks down. Since my storage is down in the basement it was hard to move the furniture with no cars or elevators. You guys would've gotten five stars if I would've actually been honestly informed of the fact that the access hours absolutely suck... Prior to my signing of the agreement, I asked if it was 24 hour access, and he said yes... then, upon showing me the unit, answering my question again, he said " Oh, not these ones. These are accessible during our open business hours." This is an outrageously enormous inconvenience for me. This was the only day I could move my belongings to storage. Due to working a full day shift, 7:00am to 7:00pm gives me about 20 minutes to do any moving... I have to be out by Saturday at Noon, and I just have to consider my stuff as a donation. I'm really disappointed in this specific business location. My family has used U-Haul for years, and they weren't ever lied to or manipulated like this... Why me?Tyler M. | First Impressions

I felt like I was strong armed into getting my unit 2 weeks early. With the "virus" going around I was told my online reservation may not be available when I needed it on 3/31/2020. The rep called me and had me check in 2 weeks early so I didnt loose the storage I reserved?....what's the point in the reservation then? This was completely unfair and infeel likening was robbed being forced to get the unit early so it wasn't "reserved" for someone else....complete bsRyan L. | First Impressions
We reserved a unit but had to move up the move in date as our daughter is in college and is being sent home. This office not only accommodated us, but they called us back a few times to help us get registered over the phone so our daughter could start moving in. They really went above and beyond. The only problem is parking and ease of access to the units. If you park in the designated parking area you have to walk 20 feet to the stairs that are towards the back of the dock then through the doors and around that middle section to the back where the stairs are then to your unit. Not terribly convenient. And often it's colder in the storage room than outsideBill B. | Overall Experience
