You would've received an excellent rating had it not been for your poorly maintained elevator that I was temporarily trapped inside of! This slow and more immobile than mobile safety hazard of an elevator has been broken down and not working properly all so that customers can actually move their belongings out of storage safely and efficiently. Are their no Elevator mechanics in Bismarck who can maintain and keep this elevator working properly so that it doesn't take 5 times longer to haul items from the bottom level to the main floor?This is not acceptable and needs to repaired immediately!Dion S. | Overall Experience

If the truck is not available don't hide behind a legal disclaimer and throw it in the face of the customer like we were suckers to sign it. I had added expenses, had to use a second driver to get there and of course wasted time and gas so there had to be some room to negotiate and not just treat a customer like garbage.Thomas O.

My entire rental experience was a shitshow. I wanted to rent from the Interstate address. My reservation was changed from Interstate to Craig's car care, and he was closed when I arrived. I spent the next 1/2 hour trying to log into uhaul and gain assistance. I called the business phone twice and finally went to leave. I was driving back to interstate location when a representative called me and assisted me with changing my reservation.they gave me a different truck and set me up for departure. I tried to use the link to note damage and mileage and it wouldn't work, there was damage to the vehicle that I didn't want to be blamed for. I went to the attendant to report the issue and he told me not to worry about it and asked me if I had bought the insurance. Implying that I would be covered in case they wanted to blame me for the damage. When I went to return the truck it was after hours and my link was broken so I couldn't do anything on the website. I tried to call uhaul but the wait was over 40 minutes. Ultimately I ended up just leaving a key in a note.stating meat the mileage was. The next day I received a receipt from the Fargo uhaul for zero dollars and zero cents. I had hoped that I would be comped for this trip because it was such a shitshow, but this morning I see that the charge from my reservation went through. I will never use uhaul again. And I will jot recommend it to anyone I know. Moving is stressful then you add the shitshow I experienced to it and I'm livid.DAWN G.

Love working with the Bismarck North Dakota location because they explain everything in detail but still customer service on the phone is really hard to get through after renting a truckTRAVIS S.
I reserved my uhaul trailer two weeks before I needed it and had reserved a 5x8 trailer for a one way drive about 200 miles. I received a confirmation email that had my reservation, and that was the last I had heard of my reservation until arriving to pick up the trailer. When I attempted to get my reservation, I was told that the online reservation system had booked that trailer as in-town only so I would not be able to drop off the trailer at my ending destination without incurring a $3,000 fee, even though my email clearly said it was a one way trip. I asked why this had happened when I had a confirmation email with all of the correct info, but they just said they weren't going to honor that reservation I had made. The employee that helped me had a very inconsiderate and unhelpful attitude and even threatened to not help us at all because we were irritated this had happened. He proceeded to say that we would need to bring the trailer back to our beginning destination or we could not rent with them. Having no other option as it was less than 24 hours from when I would need to leave, I accepted the reservation. The employee did not provide any kind of discount or waiver of any kind to help compensate us for the gas we would be using now to have a relative take off work and the time to drive 8 hours/400 miles round trip because of their faulty software. The combination of a faulty online reservation system, poor customer service, and complete disregard of their customers is what made this uhaul experience a disaster. I would absolutely not recommend utilizing uhaul, and I will be taking my business elsewhere and recommending the same to all my family and friends.Jacob C.
Had reservation for over 2 months and only needed 20ft. Bismarck location did upgrade for free to 26ft but all that meant was more gas for the customer. The store in Bismarck was ver friendly. Truck was dirty and had check engine light on from the moment we got the truck.Ian D.

It was like a ghost town when I pulled up until finally the guy with the face tattoos pulled up. I asked if he was the boss (藍) He told me the boss wouldn't be back until later. Finally the boss showed up and I showed him I had a blowout and had to buy a new tire. I asked to be reimbursed and he told me I needed the insurance? For a blown tire? That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. That being said until U-Haul reimburses me U-Haul won't be receiving any more business or payments from me. I'm also going to just dispute the entire transaction with Amex and get all my money back. That way I'm reimbursed for the tire and my labor installing it.Derrick C.

General Manager was impossible to get ahold of. He failed to prorate units as stated in the move-in. We reserved a 10x10 unit and since he gave our unit away, he gave us 2 5x10 units stating we wouldn't pay extra and they "are the same square footage". When it came to pay rent, we were getting charged for 2 5x10s instead of a single 10x10. We tried for 3 days to contact him, and never actually did get to talk with him. The issue was solved without us ever talking to him. When I moved out of the first 5x10, I did so online. It stated that it would be pending general manager approval for up to 48 hours and he never did approve the move out. When we moved out of the second unit, we talked to a very polite and helpful female worker who was able to move us out of both units. The entire process of getting the units and trying to pay rent was stressful and frustrating. We won't be using U-Haul again as long as the same general manager is there.Kara L. | Overall Experience

My storage unit was broken into and I lost property. The store manager Kyle was not helpful, my insurance agent and I was unable to see video footage. There is a suspect and when she is caught, I am asking law enforcement to investigate the relationship between her and staff/manager. I believe this is an inside job. Uhaul advertises safe clean secure. Not secure at all. I cleaned my unit when I moved out. There is a large water puddle out side of my unit in the hall. Your clerk Ashley was super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, but she seemed to be the only one there, so busy with 3 of us to take care of. She did an amazing job. The only complaints I had with the experience was, online it said I reserved a main level unit (2 showing available) but none were available when I got there so I had to take a lower level. The other was the access key, takes some learning with the many card swipe units available so a tutorial would have been helpful. Ashley showed me the basics but she could have used more counter help so she would have had more time to get in depth with the access key. That was not on her. Overall, very pleased. Thank you. First I was canceled on for my ubox's twice the day before they were to arrive. Then when I got my uhaul I was told to call and talk to a staff member at the storage location. I called and talked to a guy saying I will need storage in two days I'm driving up from idaho and I was told to call by uhaul to make sure there will be space the guy I talk to chuckled and said they will have space. I got to the storage and said I was told you guys will have room for my stuff when called the guy said ok. I told him what I was driving and asked what I would need he said he will only have 2 large units which will only fit my first truck. I then said well what can be done about the second truck. He then said I don't know what it will fit in I only have the small units left. I ask how many I will need to fit my truck load in. He said I don't know. I was like so you don't know what your storage units hold. He said yes but I don't know what you are needing storage so I can not say if it will fit. And then said I do not like your attitude. At this point I was still calm just talking harshly because the agent was not even making an effort to help me. But after he don't want to assist and didn't want to listen to misidentified or my frustrating experience. I then said oh OK let me tell you why I'm frustrated explained the canceled ubox and then the call that I made earlier. He then said but did you make a reservation. I'm like I did not say the word reservation but I spoke to someone saying want I need and when and when I got off the phone I thought it was taking care of. I then asked again what I need for my to trucks at this point he says I will not service you you need to leave. I was like really you have not done anything have not answered any of my questions and are completely un willing to help me I asked for the manager that was not there he gave me a card and told me to call the manager. I asked to use a phone to so since there was one right there oh and the. He finally did something and called the manager on his phone. Which the manager was not going to be in until 2pm I was frustrated at this time. And still continue to ask what I would need he still said I do not know what your hauling so I can not help you. At this point I had verbally ask if he is going to ask what I'm hauling so I can get help. He then said I don't know what you want from me. Really I only have been asking the whole time. So I said slowly are you going to ask me what I'm uhauling so you can help and actually help me. He then after the long time ever just trying to get some assistance said I will give you the 2 box to start with and then you can come back and order more if need be ..... so I said thank you that is all I want this whole time is some help and some effort on you part and this whole issue could have been resolved.Tiffany W. | First Impressions

But renting a truck with uhaul I never rent a truck for out state driving I was told I wasn't going to be charge for tolls or anything in my car nd after 2 months of renting I noticed I was getting charged every 2 weeks from 30 to 20 dollars at my debit card when I paid almost 1,800 dollars in cash nd I was told it includes toll nd mileage I end up paying almost 2,ooo after I noticed the charges on my debit card wich I went and changed my debit card to avoid charges I recommend do not give ur debit card when renting for uhaul nd if u do use a pre-paid master cardWILFREDO C. | Overall Experience

The online process is very easy and I appreciated it. Maybe the only improvement could be the possibility to choose which unit among those available? Because I have now 2 units, one on the 2nd and one one the basement floors. The human factor is less than ideal. There was no lock in either room, although the emails from the online booking specified it, and I had to purchase those. Every time I had a problem ( and I had many related to the in person renting process, as well as with the online ) the wait on the phone call for customer service was more than 1/2 hr and the person could not solve my problem ( the first time she could not even understand it). Kyle Wright sucks at managing this place. He had charged me for a late fee of $15, twice before the 6th day of the month. It clearly states $15 after the first and $15 again after the 15th day of the month late rent. So I had to pay extra just to get into my storage, and when I went in to get a bag out of my storage he stated he was going to call the cops because I wasnt allowed to go into my own things/storage without paying first which I told him I had paid that day and to go head and call who ever because I had proof I paid online. And then I finally closed me storage with them last month and now almost 2 weeks later he has charged me a " $25 cleaning fee" on my card which was only removing a 2 queen size mattresses. When I was closing out my account I had told the young man who closed my account for me they were in there and I couldnt get them out by myself because I am 8 and a half almost 9 months pregnant now and he said he would take care of that for me. Now to see Kyle is charging me $25 for that is ridiculous. This storage is way over priced and the manager, Kyle, is not fit to be running businesses where he can just rip people off like that and feels like he can do as he pleases with others money. Especially during this pandemic. He is a awful and I hope he gets replaced or demoted overall.
